A Dragon Shifter Box SetBook 1: Royal DragonDragon shifters are a dying breed. There are so few females left that if drastic measures are not taken, and soon, it’ll be over for the species. The threat of extinction looms. King Blaze finally accepts that there is no other option but to evoke an age-old tradition. The Hunt. The eligible dragon shifter males must hunt a handful of females. It’s first catch, first serve. The biggest problem is that the females are human.Despite feedback to the contrary, Coal thinks they are weak and breakable. In his opinion, not capable of surviving the hunt, let alone the mating that will follow. He doesn’t believe that a lowly human is capable of birthing him a royal heir, so why has his brother, the king, tasked him with claiming one? He can’t believe this is happening to him. Especially when most of the males in their tribe are willing to accept one of these puny females. Not him. He’s never rutted with one and doesn’t have any desire, whatsoever, to rut with one in the future, let alone mate and impregnate one. Claiming one of these females will not be an easy feat considering there are three other dragon tribes vying for the opportunity. How the hell is he supposed to do all of this when he doesn’t want to come within a mile of one of these unsavory creatures?Book 2: Water DragonTorrent took part in the much-anticipated hunt. Luckily, he managed to secure himself a female. Although the human was not his first choice, she’ll do. A fertile female is a fertile female after all. An heir is what he needs and an heir is what she’ll give him. In return, she’ll get to be queen of the water kingdom. What more could a female wish for?Candy is hunted like an animal and won by an arrogant shifter who doesn’t even want her. She doesn’t care that he’s a king. So what if he’s really good looking and that underneath all that bristling, alpha male is a sweet guy. Although sweet is probably not the right description for the savage, water king. The only thing he’s interested in is mating her, so that she can pop out lots of dragon shifter babies. Well, no thanks! She’s not interested. As soon as she’s able to get that through his thick skull, she’s out of there. Torrent promised her she could leave if things didn’t work out between them and she plans on holding him to his word.Book 3: Dragon KingBlaze has loved and lost before. He’s been down that slippery path before and never wants to go there again. Especially not with a human. It’s a great pity that he has no choice. The problem is that he’s the Fire King, ruler of all four kingdoms. Blaze is expected to have heirs. The sooner the better. He’ll have to take a human as his mate, one that will bear his young, but he doesn’t have to love her. Blaze plans on handling it like a business transaction. No love, no emotion, no problem.Guaranteed HEA!The story contains mature themes/language.

I really enjoyed theses three books. The Dragon shifter race is mostly men, they need women to breed with too save there race. So they have a hunt about once a year. They gather human females then let them go in dragon territory, giving the woman a big head start. Before a bunch of dragon shifters rush to get themselves a female. It’s fun seeing how the women learn about the shifters ways and anatomy lol. Definitely for over age 18 readers. Also, definitely worth the read. Good night for now.
Coal is a fire dragon prince and tasked by his brother(the king) to join “the hunt”, an ancient tradition where dragon males compete over the right to have a female. Enter Julie. Julie is hardworking, stubborn and feisty. She is also homeless. A perfect candidate for the dragons, since dragon shifters are still unknown to the world, which means no one will miss her.
As always, Hartnadys story are compelling, unique and hot.
Personally, i did miss a little more “fight”. The blurb gives a pretty clear picture that NONE of them are having this arrangement, and yet I didn’t feel this “resistance”. Yes, Julie TRIED to convince herself of her “no sex with a dragon because she sure as hell ain’t having his little dragon babies”, and yet, I felt that she didn’t try really hard. And Coal. Well.. the resentment toward humans was non-existent. It’s why I can’t have the final star, because I really do love her stories. They are GREAT! This book had so many “drama opportunities ” that I felt was greatly “ignored” or simply wasn’t acted strongly enough upon. AND I LOVE THE “ JEALOUS EX”, The “ I CAN’T MATE A HUMAN? ARE YOU LOCO ?“, drama options! But sadly they weren’t as “deep” as I would have liked to really believe it.
Side note : It was also really rushed in the end. Still good and entertaining.
Water Dragon
4.5 “Forget it, dude ”- stars.
If it weren’t for the last 50 pages I would have gone with 5 stars. It held a steady and thrilling “pulse/pace” doing the entire book, but it dragged on a bit in the end.
The book was really really good though. Candy was legit the most awesome, “You are an asshole and I won’t have it, “ -woman ever and I LOVED how she didn’t just let him (Torrent) push her over. How she needed him to prove and accept that “there is no way I will be your mate and pop out your babies before I figure out if I like you or not” . I LOVED that. Strong women are the best!
Torrent was a solid character. The King over the water dragons. Didn’t really get the biggest “King” vibes, but I found him very interesting to follow, and when he found out he truly cared about my girl, Candy! So sweet!
The writing style is so pleasant. It’s funny. It’s light. The plots are always interesting and the pace in this book was so good! I was just completely entertained!
Dragon King - 3 Stars
Anyone a sucker for a dragonshifter?
Well, I for sure am, and I must say I find Charlene Hartnady’s storytelling quite entertaining.
It’s fun. It’s light. It’s SEXY! The storyline is dramatic, I love when they fuss and fight. What can I say I do love a bit of drama🤷🏻♀️💕
It’s a bit cheesy at times. I find that oddly charming.
Roxy was a delight. A blue-eyed, dark haired beauty working with her best friend in a bakery deciding she deserves the “never ending type of love” and decides to apply for “The program”. The vampire dating program. How did she end up with a dragon king, you say?
Well... the dragonshifter community is in desperate need of females and the dragon King “Blaze” needs to produce heirs. He just don’t want any love to come with the joining of a human. Then why can’t he stop thinking about Roxy?
The Bride Hunt Box Set: Books 1-3 is the start of the thrilling The Bride Hunt series. The story follows characters who must run for their lives from creatures they never knew existed.
While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer. The characters just need to stay alive, but what they discover is more significant than they ever imagined.
I love the strong, sexy alpha males in protective roles!
Take away the testosterone filled Dragon shifter descriptions and there was nothing left to really enjoy. The stories are only one long sex scene from beginning to end - explicit in action and dialogue. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong about reading about sex, but please give the reader at least a story to enjoy. A Dragon culture that no human knows about with no hospitals, knowledge of antibiotics, human customs, yet.... They have laptops, mobile phones, eat pizza, fries and tacos? Their dialogue is cheap , smutty and lacks any sort of cultural education. By the end the reader has no idea of their customs, life or work. We read only once in dialogue that dragons do work.I Now many readers will read the book for the sex alone which is fine, but if you really enjoy reading a good story in addition, prepare to be disappointed. Apart from the main male characters being manly in every physical sense of the word, I found their royal characters to be ridiculous with no interpersonal skills at all. The main human females I thought were common and tawdry.
Three stories about Dragon Shifters and their prospective mates in one box set: hours of entertainment. In danger of becoming extinct, the dragon shifter kings of the four elements decide to have a regular bride hunt; human women from Earth are abducted in the first book (but only those in dire circumstances...) and will be hunted by the chosen dragon shifters. No woman will be forced but they will have to agree to spend two weeks with the winners, by the end of which, if they still want to, they can go home. In the other two books, the ladies are chosen from those who apply for the vampire mating programme. Of course, nothing goes as planned, and the shifters have their hands full. How they convince their ladies that they are the right mates, is quite amusing. And - of course - with sexy shifters and feisty women, there is a lot of hot sex. Inevitably. Written with a lot of humour (although that sometimes was too much for me, not really fitting at certain events), very likeable characters and nice plots for romance stories, this box set is a must if you like shiftes, hot scenes, some fun and a good narration style.
The writing is okay. The storyline is interesting. There is so much focus on sex though. I started skimming through those parts. There was overlap from the first book to the second book, though told from a different perspective. The women are strong characters, though Julie got on my nerves a little. There were times I felt the stories were repetitive but overall they were an okay lazy day read. There are still several questions I have about the offspring and a few other loose ends. I did not think the stories ended with cliffhangers, just had loose ends because we don't know everything about the shifters and how human mating affects them. 2.5-3 stars
This set is the start of the Bride Hunt series and all three books are really interesting and work as an introduction to the Dragon shifters. All three dragons are Royals and very much Alpha males and the women who tame them are feisty and tough and have to bring these guys down a bit to win them. They are all good reads with lots of hot sexy bedroom action.
Really enjoyed this book. It starts out in book one with Coal and Julie. They have their problems , but love each other. She
Book 2 is about Candy and Torrent. They too have their differences but work through them to have a good relationship.
Book 3 is about the fire king was Blaze and Rory. Blaze no longer believes in love, but Rory does and it take him sending her away for him to acknowledge that they do love each other.
A girl could wish! All three books are amazing, Roxy and Blaze where my favorite couple, Roxy had no filter said things to Blaze that had you laughing and waiting for what happened next. If only there were real men out there like these fantasy men/shifters.
Love this author is on kindle unlimited because I can re read her books. I always say these books are best read in order, and I mean starting all the way back with the vampires chosen, because this whole supernatural world builds from there. Plus they are all good, so you don’t want to miss a single one.
I liked Coals story but WTF was Torrent's story? I hated the ending and actually massively felt bad for him. I also felt disappointed in Blaze's story. Firstly she gave in way to easy and secondly again...the ending!?! I'm so confused. Do we find out in the other books? This feels so different from The Chosen and The Program. It feels like a totally different author. 🙈
This collection was very hot and laugh out loud funny. I really enjoyed watching these couples from two different worlds find one another and happiness.
I enjoyed as all the books. Although the Water King was my favorite. Torrent went through a lot. So did Candy. I want to know what happened with the royal babies. Will there be another book to expand on the subject?
It's silly, it's predictable, it's full of editing errors (I gave up totally on punctuation errors and sentence fragments), but I whizzed right through it regardless. If arrogant Neanderthals (with soft marshmallow centers) is your thing, this has your name on it.
I liked the set of books even if it was a little too graphic for me. The descriptions were very graphic, but I did like the characters very much. The other little problem I had was the back story about the human dragon hybrid babies.
Dragon shifters are the modern version of cavemen and human females have to teach them to love and respect them. Once that barrier is crashed then life can go on with plenty of sweet loving. Who are we kidding?
I usually love all paranormal novels. This series was hard for me to complete. I appreciated the male dragons and their plight and their honor. Not so much for the women.
These Dragon shifters are beyond sexy and most of the women are feisty and not pushovers. I enjoyed the progression of the dragons realisation of human feelings as to their legitimacy.
Overall I did enjoy the series. It was an interesting world. I struggled with it sometimes, there is little action to balance out the romance, and a lot of yelling. I'm glad I read it, it was interesting and different, but I won't be continuing series.
Each book in the set was equally intriguing. The characters are fascinating and the writing was so good! I hope she has written stories about the other supernatural in this world. More background information would be wonderful.
These story’s were absolutely fabulous. I loved all the characters. I’m so checking out the other stories in the series and may even add a for others by this Author.
Holy shiznet!!! What a gr8 group of stories. I truly enjoyed reading this set and look forward to reading the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
