I should have known that my actions would have consequences. I couldn’t have prepared for what was to come. I never expected this. I never expected them.
When I was 15 something happened that changed me forever; it turned my world upside down and made me the way I am now.
Broken. Scarred. Haunted.
I have to make up for what happened. But that makes me enemies.
The popular ones. The rich ones. The ones who think that they are better than everyone else just because of their money and power.
Bullies.
It’s cost me my place in every college I’ve been to so far, and it’s about to cost me this one.
I need to stay out of trouble. But trouble just has a way of finding me.
With a few bad choices I am now stuck with the people I hate and resent.
I have to now follow their rules or they will punish me for what I did.
I will submit to their torment. Give in to their blackmail. I might be keeping our little pact, but I’m not about to make it easy on them. They think that they can break me - but you can’t hurt someone who is already dead inside.
Or so I thought.
Warning this is a Bully Romance and there are a few scenes that may be sensitive to some readers. Recommended for 18 years and above.
J.L. Ostle was born in Antrim, Northern Ireland, now living in Carlisle, England. J.L. Ostle is a full time mother looking after her cute, active little boy.
When she she hasn't got her head stuck in a book or writing, she's watching movies, or doing activities with her friends and their children
What I loved about the book was that Luce defended herself and others who couldn’t defend themselves. I liked that the book flowed and moved smoothly, there was never a dull moment. Luce was a total badass in pretty much any situation and could even put a teacher in his place. I loved that she didn’t need anyone, but still wanted a friendship connection.
I really wanted to love this book, but it got a bit odd for me. First, I spent this entire book not sure if this was a reverse harem novel or not and we don’t find out until the last page. Second, this book is supposed to follow seniors in college and it felt like a whole bunch of high school drama. Thirdly, I couldn’t get a really good understanding of the relationship between Luce and everyone else, I just couldn’t figure out which characters were friend or foe.
Spoilers:
I did enjoy the book, it is labeled as a bully romance which I haven’t read one of those in a while. Lots of high school clique drama throughout the book, but what really confused me was the interactions between Axel, Elijah, Lucas and Lucille. Everything felt unrealistic and very dramatic and I just couldn’t believe what.was happening. The ending with Kimberly and Luce and Lucas “trying” to earn Luce’s forgiveness, I say trying because he really didn’t do much. Then after all the drama and craziness that surrounded Luce in the approximate 10 days she started at that college, we get an ending that felt abrupt and too easy.
It felt very much like a reverse harem with the way she reacted to the guys; she says she hates them, but it doesn’t stop her from making out with each of them separately; this is NOT a reverse harem.
Unfortunately, it also takes a very dramatic turn when Luce essentially commits a crime in the broad daylight with no consequences. She has a major show down with Kimberly and explains her tragic past and suddenly both girls are fine with each other; seriously that is what happens just like that.
Also I couldn’t really get an understanding about Aisha since she technically disappears for half the book because she gets the flu (?).
The reveal of Luce’s past and that tragic event that happened to her friend broke my heart; I’m surprised that Luce, who is part of the fifth richest family in the world, couldn’t get the people responsible in trouble, but she manages to get in trouble for retaliating.
Then the situation with the guys, but mostly Lucas, I couldn’t believe it after everything they did to her and revealing her past, Lucas does the bare minimum to apologize and boom they are in love. Honestly I was shocked she ended up with Lucas since she basically liked Elijah better and dry humped Axel.

Wow what an emotional roller coaster that touches on so many different sensitive subjects that were written perfectly. I laughed and cried through out. Luce's past has made her a strong willed woman who will not let anyone walk all over her even when this gets her into trouble but what she has been through has made her tough on the exterior and yet she has kept her softness. This is her last chance to graduate and there are people that are not making this easy for her. I loved everything she stood for and the story ended perfectly ! I definitely feel a second book should be coming!
This deserves a 4* rating in my estimation as it was a lovely read but l would have preferred a different ending.
I loved the female character as she was so strong within herself, also she was badass. I would have loved to see the male lead embody more personal power and less basking in the privileges accorded by his birth right. He came across slightly desperate for power.
First book to be read by J.L. Ostle. I absolutely love Lucille. She is definitely one of my top 5 favorite heroines in bully romances. She took no bs, stood her ground and when she got pushed to her limit she showed no mercy. I need more heriones like this in bully romances.
Still nice to read again. This is a true bully book with redemption and a twist. Our girl is a heroine who takes on the bullies, but she's also broken in many ways. She manages to put everyone in their place and come out smi!ing in the end.
