Lee Wilkinson was born in Nottingham, the only child of loving parents. She was educated at an all-girls' school, and after leaving, tried her hand at several jobs, including modeling swimwear.

At 22 she met and married her husband, Denis. They had a traditional white wedding and a honeymoon in Italy, and have been happily married ever since. They have two children, a son and a daughter—both now grown up and married—and four lovely grandchildren.

Lee's writing career began with short stories and serials for magazines and newspapers before going on to novels. She has had more than 20 Mills and Boon romance novels published to date.

Amongst her hobbies are reading, gardening, walking, and cooking. Traveling is her main love, and teaming up with her daughter and American son-in-law, she and her husband spent a year going round the world, taking in India, China, Australia, New Zealand, and the States.

Last year she rented a palazzo in the heart of Venice, followed by a quick hop aboard the Orient Express. Lee is currently saving up for a whirlwind tour of Japan, a romantic and exotic destination she has wanted to visit since childhood.

At present she lives with her husband in a 300-year-old stone cottage in a picturesque Derbyshire village, which gets cut off by snow most winters

I don’t like it when the flashback is a really big flashback. In this case it was half the book. And even worse, the writer went back and forth: from past to present to past to present. 🙄

Anyway, it was boring. He wasn’t an alpha male, she wasn’t a virgin. They had a relationship 3 years before, but she had left him without telling him why and without saying goodbye.

Lee Wilkinson has written some good romances, but this isn’t one of them.

It was one of the dullest, most boring and depressing books I've ever come across.
I think that it's the reason this author will end up in the "not spending any more money on" list. She earned it, quite easily, I might add.
My actual rating is 1&1/2 stars and only because I'm a good person.
It took me about 1 hour to read because I kept skipping pages to get to the end. And when I, finally, got there and I could learn what the big secret was, big flop.Just nonsense.

There was a lot of angst. But it was really strange that Caris used to run everytime she got close to Zander. Towards the end, it just got annoying the way she made her own conculsions and refused to believe Zander. It’s possible the story could have ended sooner, but had to be dragged for a few more chapters to fulfill a particular length. Zander was nice and I did not find much wrong with him.

The story begins with a nightmare of the h. We learn with it the intensity of the emotions she still has for Zander, his former lover. After an intense relationship and living together, one day Caris disappeared because when she mentioned that she may be pregnant, he didn’t take it very well and seemed angry. Apart from this, she had seen him with another woman in a situation that spoke volumes about the intimity existent between them.
Now Caris, the h., is living in the UK, far away from him, living in the U.S. And we learnt again details from the past, when Zander and Caris met in her father’s company, when she was working as a promising lawyer. Now she is a real state agent. They meet again when the person who comes to visit a very splendid property is Zander. Caris tries to go away, not very prepared to give any explanations why she left him in the past, but her car does not star and she must remain in the mansion in sale with Zander because of a coming storm.

this was very well done! i cud feel the tension rip off the pages. very intense, angsty kinda book dealing wid painful emotions. yet when caris's secret was revealed, it was an anticlimax! i dunt understand where she was coming from, how she cud suffer so much from a MISCARRIAGE! she was only 3 months pregnant at the time. her terrible pain wud have made more sense if she had done smthg guilty like aborting the kid. this ruined the book for me and i contemplated rating it 1star but this was so good so i gave it the 4stars i felt it deserved!

Just cannot get into this. Beginning is good but it dwindles to nothing fast. Quit around page 40, skipped to the end and it's still not enticing. Dull.

18 months later same vote. I didn’t remember anything of it.
