STORY:
I wanted to read this, because we got to see a portion of Lena in Victor: Ruthless Crush, and I was interested in her backstory. I liked the quick read as the author showed us a part of Lena’s time in high school with Keane and revealed how he used to bully her. Fast-forward to a couple of years later, and Lena is on spring break. She encounters Keane again. I thought it was cute, Keane trying to confess his feelings on how he really feels with Lena’s list of things she wants to do. It was a quick read and Lena caved in a little too quickly, but I still liked how this story came out. I am looking forward to reading their full story.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Sex scene was ok. Again, it was a quickie read, so I’ll take what I can get on the sex scene.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS
We only got a peak at Dawn from the books Victor, and she was just a drunken mess. There were others that were from Keane’s hockey team as well.
OVERALL
A quick and likable read and looking forward to their full length story.

I listened to this on the Read Me Romance podcast and this was my first Theodora Taylor book. The plot centers around Lena, who goes on spring break to Daytona and by chance meets her high school bully, Keane. She has a bucketlist that she wants to achieve, and Keane offers to help her out with one of the items: loosing her virginity.
I've never read a bully romance before, but I do love enemies to lovers so I liked the dynamic between Lena and Keane and thought they had great chemistry. For such a short book, the characters were very well developed and while there were a few hazy details about their pasts that could have been expanded on, on the whole I really connected with the characters.
If this wasn't in audio, I probably would have given this four stars, but I found the voice actor's accents kind of cringey, especially the Russian accent towards the end of the audiobook, which sounded the same as her Indian accent.
I believe this was a prequel for a full length novel which will focus on the same characters, however this had a HFN ending and I was satisfied enough and don't feel like I NEED to read the next book, though I liked the characters enough that I might.

This was my first time reading/listening to Theodora Taylor's work and I honestly enjoyed myself with this one. I loved how we got to see a little backstory of what Keane was like in high school before we were presented with our present day main characters. However, I did feel like there was something missing in the story that had me hesitating to love it--not sure what that is though?
With that said, This novella was a great set up for the first novel in her new series, and I got invested enough into the characters and their relationship to want to find out what comes next!

3 stars. Quickie review: This was another book I listened to on the Read Me Romance podcast. I didn't really enjoy this book. The female narrator's voice for the hero was the worst attempt at a Boston accent I've ever heard. He sounded like he had a speech impediment. The story itself was a bully romance and the hero in no way redeemed himself for his jackassery. He treated the heroine horribly and she forgave him easily just because he apologized. I liked the heroine, but the hero was awful. Just not a great read for me.

Not an audio book- I actually read this novella after reading Victor - Her Ruthless Crush and I was glad to get the background story on Keane and Lena. It was a short book provided by the author for signing up to her website. I really liked it although she forgave him pretty quickly.

The beginning was great! Then it kinda went downhill from there.
This was my first time reading one of Theodora Taylor's works and it wasn't great - but that doesn't mean I won't ever read any of her other books in the future.
I just didn't like how the heroine, Lena, forgave the hero, Keane, so easily after what he did to her, in the past and in the present. At least, she shouldn't have brushed it off.
On the bright side, this novella was a good set up for the full length novel (which I'm most likely not going to read as I'm not as invested in the characters and the story.)
4/2/23: I listened to this audiobook on the Read Me Romance Podcast and when I went to review it I saw that I had already listened to it in the past! The first time I read this, I originally gave this book 2 stars but I'm bringing it down to 1 star. The characters were unlikeable and the dialogue was cringe. FMC was too naive and stupid. H owes her (h) money and he was so annoying. He didn't even properly apologise to her. I didn't like him. They had no chemistry and no romance at all. Even though this was a short audiobook but I wanted to dnf it like halfway through. Also, Graham is actually criminal.

I'm not sure about my thoughts on this one. It is short and acts as a prequel to a longer story.
We really don't get to know Keane at all and while I think it works with this story since he starts out as a bully, I never connected with him even though I wanted to, especially after they are together. A good place to have his POV would have been when he saw her in the bar 6 years after high school. That would have been a good place to connect the reader to him.
I did enjoy the parts were they are actually together, just the two of them. But I struggled when other people were introduced into their conversations.
Narration: Her voice was pleasant, though I struggled with her accents, especially the Boston one, it really didn't work, it almost sounded southern at points.

Hitting a few romance tropes (bully, sports, second chance), this novella serves as a prequel to a FLN.
It does a good job of intro-ing the heroine, the (anti-)hero and (a little of) their turbulent history—both individually and shared.
Because of this, the ending is a (suggested) HFN, however tenuous.
While I’m not continuing w the series (coz it’s just not my jam), I will say if angsty-romance between damaged alphahole, professional level sports-star antiheroes and bookishly intelligent, tender-hearted but fast finding her backbone heroines are your crack, you should deffo give this a try!

I haven't been writing many reviews on the audiobooks I've heard on Read Me Romance, but this one deserved one. Not because it's fantastic, though it's definitely good, but because I've never been able to handle the former-bully-turned-lover trope all that well. This does a good job with giving us the history of the hero and heroine, but it was uncomfortable for me in parts. That said, this is a good prequel to the book that follows it; I'm just unsure as to whether I'll get around to reading it (my own issues, not the writing at all).

Another one of my favorite books on the RMR podcast! Even though this book spanned a few years, it didn't feel too rushed or too corny. It was actually really well-written and I think I want to read the full novel that accompanies this one. As hard as it is to hear a heroine being bullied, Taylor executed this well and you ended up getting over your initial disgust with the anti-hero. A solid novella with a happily ever after.

I am torn; I wanted to like this story but I just couldn’t like Keene. He redeemed himself at the end but it just wasn’t enough to make me fall for him. I also had a hard time with the storyline a little. I struggled with the entire idea of having a crush on the boy who bullied you in school, both while he was being the bully and after.

I didn't know what to expect from this book. I was very surprised. I received this an ARC and would buy it. Some many well written story lines. They went to make a great read. I couldn't but down and hated when it ended.

Read me Romance podcast listen. I’ve been introduced to many new authors and that’s the plus. This one was just alright for me. Not bad but ok. Is he curious to see where there really lance goes beyond this book.

I liked this story overall. I really like the idea of the story, and since it's a novella I'm excited to get more of the story. I listened to the audio and didn't love the accent of the hero, but I liked the promise of the story.

I really wanted to like this more but I just could not stop myself from being hung up by the bullying in this one. It did make me laugh, but only because Keane's first name is my little brother's name too, so that kinda fucked up my thinking and reading.

Cocky jock and nerdy, shy girl - he bullies her in high school, they meet again when both are Seniors in college, kind of hit it off, big misunderstanding ensues, they meet up one more time, a year later, and he does some groveling, et voila, HFN.

While in college she runs into her High School bully, Keane. He finds her diary and leaves a message for her to get it back and he offers to help her complete her shake it off list. He claims that he's always been interested in her but knows he was mean to her in high school.

I liked parts and hated parts of this? I didn't like most of the dialogue, but the sex scene and the final scene made forgive all that. I don't think I'll continue the story, but maybe because it's KU.
