The Trigger Point methods are explained well, (it is completely necessary to read part 1 of the book for explanations before proceeding the to therapy part in part 2), but body and trigger point illustrations I felt were lacking and disappointing - they were drawings as opposed to real demonstration pictures which might make it hard for the reader to apply the trigger point therapy correctly if they had absolutely no background in anatomy. It has been my experience that Trigger Point Therapy needs to be fairly exact if to be effective. Granted drawn illustrations are helpful, but real exact locations on a body may be more helpful in some cases. My thanks to the publisher for providing an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

Approximately the first 30 pages of the book, give the reader basic information on what trigger points are, what trigger point therapy is, and how to apply it to yourself or someone else. The author explains things simply and fully to produce confidence in the reader. The rest of the book covers from head to toe and everything in between, specific spots on the body where it hurts, what else you might be experiencing, and what it is often caused by.

I think it is fair to say, that with practice, this technique will become easier to perform successfully. Most of the therapies can be done on yourself, but some may also require some assistance depending on flexibility and location. As with anything, be cautious, and careful as you navigate if self-trigger point therapy is for you.

I was given a copy of Trigger Point Therapy Made Simple: Serious Pain Relief in 4 Easy Steps via the publisher. I chose to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Any therapy done at home should not be taken lightly or without a doctor's input. The therapies practiced in this book are pretty harmless, overall, but can create larger problems in some individuals. The author does point this fact out with some of the targeted therapies, especially when dealing with the neck area.

There is a great introduction, including what to know about trigger point therapy; essential pain relief techniques; knowing where your pain comes from and how to deal with it; and understanding trigger points. There is a good explanation of trigger points, namely that the muscle fibers shorten below the nerve, causing a knot. When you release the knot, the muscle fiber snaps back into place and releases the stress on it.

The second section of the book is devoted to the different parts of the body, like Head and Face; Neck and Shoulders; Arms and Hands; Chest, Back, and Abdomen; Hips and Upper Legs; finally, Lower Legs and Feet. Each part of the body is separated into different muscle groups. For example, when discussing the Triceps, the author explains where the muscle is located, what the possible pain symptoms are, and what activity or motion may cause the discomfort. The author goes through his procedure on how to work on the trigger point in question. I like how the book works systematically from head to toe. It is not necessary to read Trigger Point Therapy Made Simple from cover to cover, so the author thoughtfully put in both a regular index and a symptom one. This allows the book to be used for diagnostic purposes, as the symptom index can help readers to decide their personal issue.

Overall, Trigger Point Therapy Made Simple: Serious Pain Relief in 4 Easy Steps is a good starting off point for those looking to alternative therapy for pain. Conversely, it is a good book to use after finishing traditional therapies, as pain management. This book is not a substitute for a medical opinion, but it is eye opening.

This book outlines where trigger points are located in our muscles, and how massage, pressure, and other therapies can help to alleviate that pain. The self-therapy techniques include self-massage, breathing exercises, stretching exercises designed to alleviate nerve tension, massaging or compressing a trigger point in your muscle, and Swedish movements for stretching your range of motion.

I really like the attitudes in this book, putting the power of healing back into the hands of the patient, instead of relying on doctors who don't give any answers or solutions other than prescription pain medication. The writing is so encouraging and gives good information about using techniques to heal yourself and find relief from pain and tension.

The information is organized in sections for each area of the body, with clear instructions and good advice for each type of pain. There are suggestions for simple tools that you can use to apply pressure, but you can also just use your hands. I love how the author gives a lot of other tips related to where you are holding tension, and how to use stress relief and general self-care to relax those muscles in addition to the trigger point therapy.

The illustrations are excellent, demonstrating where the trigger points can be found on the body, and how to do some of the stretching techniques.

This is such a great book for anyone dealing with chronic pain, or pain that pops up repeatedly with muscle strain or injury.

This book is a resource to help you alleviate pain by focusing on trigger points. There is a great deal of information in the first chapter Trigger Point 101 explaining what are trigger points, effects of trigger points, explaining what trigger point therapy is, how does it work, does it hurt, medication, do you need professional help, and more information.
It covers different message techniques and tools to assist, and safety tips. Other methods like breathing exercises and other helpful techniques are also talked about.

The chapters are broken down by areas like Head and Face, Neck and Shoulder, Arms and Hands, Chest, Back, Abdomen, Hips and Upper Legs, and Lower Legs and Feet. There are illustrations throughout showing you the location of the trigger point and the radius area. All the techniques have step-by-step instructions for you to do. The illustrations also demonstrate stretching techniques.

The book is very easy to understand in layman’s terms. It also tells you certain areas may require a professional therapist.

The back of the books has a list of tools and resources where you can purchase them. A very informative book to help deal with chronic pain.

I chose to read this book after receiving a free copy from the publisher. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Although this book wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, I did find it helpful. I have chronic pain and this does work a lot of the time. What I found interesting is that I’ve instinctively massaged trigger points not knowing why it helped, especially when I have headaches.

As with anything, you need to individualize what will work for you. I don’t find it helpful to do all 4 steps all the time. Treating the trigger points works mostly for me, but the other steps can help certain pain at certain times.

Trigger Point Therapy Made Simple is exactly that…simple. It’s easy to understand. It also has illustrations of the trigger points. I recommend this book for anyone looking for help with pain. It’s especially helpful nowadays when pain pills aren’t readily available for those with chronic pain.

The book opens with a section on what trigger points are and how trigger point therapy works. I will note that I am married to a massage therapist and he looked through this book before I did and helped me with some of the exercises. That being said, I found this book easy to follow and understand for the most part. Even without prior knowledge, the explanations and illustrations for the exercises are clear.

What I liked: The information was easy to understand; the illustrations helped find points and the instructions were clear and concise.

What I didn’t like: very little. This is a good, basic book.

Recommendation: A definite must for anyone who has had issues with pain from injuries or has a chronic condition. Use it along with recommendations from your doctor/therapist (always consult them first!).

I am very impressed with this book. I have chronic pain-primarily soft tissue-and this book is a game-changer. I feel instant relief using what I have learned from this book, and I imagine this relief will become more long-term as I practice the techniques provided in this book.

The book is informative and well-organized. The index is organized both by symptom and muscle so it is easy to access what you wish to focus on. The book is full of valuable information and includes useful pictures. You do not need to have any background in anatomy or related fields to be able to use this book effectively. That said, I do have a moderate background in the subject and I feel this book expanded my knowledge. Therefore, it is a user-friendly book and valuable for anyone who is dealing with chronic pain.

I received a complimentary copy.

Finding out all about how to relieve stress and pent up pain by using simple but effective techniques can really be a huge help. If you practice the guides and can relax you will benefit greatly now only from learning the informative points, but also being able to free yourself of pain medicines or other drawbacks.

This is a good learning guide as it has a lot of illustrations showing not only where the trigger points are usually found, but also the pain referrals and radius (which aren't always in the same place as the trigger points). I like like that each one is broken down into specific steps, though I wish there was more detail about the paraspinal massage (how do you know you're in the right spot?) and the nerve flossing techniques (some of the written instructions were confusing).
