When Wounded Warrior Captain Samantha Caldwell Is Being Targeted By Terrorists After Killing Their Leader In Iraq, Can AFOSI Agent Captain Ben Nash Keep Her Safe?
When Captain Samantha Caldwell’s team is hijacked by terrorists in Iraq, her quick thinking results in the destruction of both the munitions they were transporting along with the attacking insurgents. But her actions come with a cost, and Samantha is injured from gunfire after sending her team running for their lives.
Assigned to the team following behind, Captain Benjamin Nash has been warned that the intel provided may no longer be accurate, and their mission may have been compromised.
When Ben comes across a severely injured airman near the road while scouting ahead and discovering the wreckage, he manages to radio for a chopper. They’ve never met, but when Samantha momentarily regains consciousness, Ben feels a strange connection once they speak.
But trouble strikes during the rescue, and this time Ben ends up shot as the chopper is preparing to depart.
Two years later, in preparation to become an AFOSI agent, Ben is sent to a training facility in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin, and the last person he expects to see is Samantha, who’s working there as an instructor. Not knowing her name or rank, Ben had been making discreet inquiries about her for several months, trying to discover if the woman who’d been severely injured had survived.
It doesn’t take long for Ben to realize that Samantha is special, and he would do anything in his power to have her. But Ben is there pretending to be an airman since he’s been sent there for other reasons besides training.
Sam is feeling the same way about Ben, but she’s avoiding him as much as possible. Although she can’t quite put her finger on why she thinks Ben is more than he appears, there would be serious consequences if she entered a relationship with someone beneath her in rank.
But everything changes when Colonel Pierce meets with Sam and Ben and discloses Ben’s actual mission. Can Ben keep Sam safe from the terrorists who’ve targeted her after she apparently killed their leader during that fateful mission in Iraq?

Two hearts Unlikely Heroes is a story about love in the presence of danger. It’s about the power to withstand harsh odds. The story follows the characters, Sam and Ben, from their first chance meeting under battle conditions in Iraq to a raining facility in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin. The layering of time periods enriches the story and allows the characters to grow and their love to deepen.
Air Force Lieutenant Samantha Caldwell senses that something isn’t right with the way her Iraq mission is unfolding. Weapons drawn, terrorists surround her truck and trap her team. She fights back, but just as she fires at them, there is an enormous amour of blood oozing from her leg after sending her team running for their lives.
A few miles away, Lieutenant Benjamin Nash is speeding in his jeep, when he discovers the wreckage of the munitions supply truck and finds Sam, lying injured at the side of the road. He radios for a chopper, and when she opens her eyes and stares at him blankly, he can’t help but notice how beautiful she is. As the chopper makes it into the air, Ben is hit by gunfire that shatters his arm.
Two years later, Ben and Sam meet again, this time in training facility in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin. By now it’s clear they’re meant for each other, because he hasn’t been able to take her out of his mind, and as for her, and as for Sam, “She was having some trouble focusing when she was around Ben Nash.” Meanwhile, she is being targeted by terrorists. One of them says, “This was supposed to be about revenge for killing my husband.”
I am such a sucker for Tamara Ferguson’s Two Hearts Wounded Warrior series. I have yet to read one by her that I didn’t fall completely head over heels in love with and TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES is no exception to the rule. I adore that she keeps her stories realistic and reasonable but real and raw. Often there is some sort of touch wounded warrior stuff that can be a heavy topic to discuss or write about but Tamara does it flawlessly and with a passion that is evident from the very first page until the bittersweet last few words.
In TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES we get the story of Sam and Ben. Sam was attacked brutally and lost some of her friends as well as gained injuries in a convoy attack. One of the men that was with her, the one who made sure to save her life, is Ben. These two find themselves thrust into each others lives and what ensues is some pretty awesome story to read! I can’t wait to see what we will get next from Tamara Ferguson!
This is book nine in this series and the best yet. I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning, you won’t regret it. This story is about Ben and Samantha. They meet in Iraq by chance but there is a strange connection between them. A few years later once again they run into each other. This time Samantha is avoiding him but why? They both have the same feelings for each other but Samantha can’t get past the feeling that there is more to Ben than meets the eye. When the truth comes out, is there a HEA in their future? They are strong characters that bring the story to life. Their story is engaging and well written, I highly recommend their story, a must read.
Sam was in a convoy that was attacked and saw her captain shot in the head but she got the other men out, but they were captured. When they escaped she was shot I. The leg and Ben saved her, but he got shot in the arm. They have seen each other since but they end up at the retraining center. But their hearts know what their heads haven't.
I have read a few books from this incredible author but she always ends up surprising me. This is the ninth book to the amazing series Two Hearts Wounded Warrior. My favorite genre is military romance and this book exceeded all my expectations. I was so excited when I got this book. I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not stop until I finished the story. I devoured this incredible book in one night.
Captain Samantha Caldwell and her team were hijacked by Iraq’s terrorists. She had to think fast to get herself out of danger but she ended up in some crossfire. Samantha ended up just nearly escaping with her life. It is two years later and she is helping disabled heroes. She loves what she does. Samantha gets a new vet and he looks familiar to her. She gets to know the flier Ben Nash and she feels a strong connection to him. Samantha doesn’t want to get into trouble by liking a man below her rank. She is surprised when she is told the real reason why Ben is there. Samantha is now a target to the enemies she thought she took care of years ago. Will Ben be able to keep her safe or will it be too late?
This one is a bit too Insta-love for me. If the epilogue had been six months into the future, it would have been a more believable romance. Happy ☺reading 📚!
Only a handful of authors I read carry the ability to snag my attention from the first sentence of their stories, and Tamara Ferguson hits this list on so many levels - her gifted and concise prose never quits.
Air Force Lieutenant Samantha Caldwell senses her team is in for an ambush by ISIS terrorists and sadly, she is correct. As she’s left for dead on a dirt road in Afghanistan, Lieutenant Benjamin Nash rescues the injured woman, and then becomes a target for the insurgents as well.
Fast-forward two years: a wounded warrior facility in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin finds Samantha recovered from an amputated leg, wearing a prosthesis, and in charge of retraining other wounded warriors with similar issues - her mission is to make sure the program qualifies these soldiers for reentry back into overseas duty after they complete their trials.
Benjamin Nash, minus one arm and advised by his senior officer there’s been chatter about a terrorist infiltrate lurking in the states, is sent to the Crystal Rock Wounded Warrior Facility, posing as an underling in his branch of the service. He’s told the new mission will require a female partner, and ponders who will best suit his needs as an efficient team player.
When he recognizes Samantha, now his commanding officer, as the woman he’d rescued in Afghanistan, he immediately recalls the immediate effect her beautiful blue eyes had on him, even as she lay bleeding in his arms, and is determined to win her over, without breaching the security of the mission.
Fraternizing with fellow soldiers is a no-can-do proposition in the ranks, leaving Ben to wonder how to woo the beautiful woman, without creating issues that could jeopardize both their careers.
When Samantha meets Ben, instinct lets her aware she’s seen him somewhere before, but she can’t quite place the situation. With mutual sparks of intense attraction beginning to fly, the couple finds themselves in the throes of a unique friendship, but what will happen later remains to be seen.
Discover how far these two will go to ensure the safety of their wounded warrior facility and its occupants - how far they’ll take their relationship, if at all, and who will be the heroes when all is said and done – and savor this fantastic story of honor, heart to heart relationships, and justice for those who’ve committed treachery against America.
If you’ve read other stories in this series, you will recognize familiar and cherished characters as they make cameo appearances, but be aware this book can be read as a stand- alone, as I’ve read several of these blockbusters.
Finally, thank you, Tamara Ferguson, for another unbelievably, touching novel that had me in tears one moment and smiling in wonder the next, as I turned the pages – your talents as a USA Today best selling, award-winning author never cease to amaze me. Five, well deserved, golden stars awarded -
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes is the ninth book in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Series by Tamara Ferguson. I don’t know how Ms. Ferguson manages to do it- but each new release seems to sightly eclipse the one before. You’d think that nine books in, the series may be starting to lose momentum, or start to ‘wind down’ – but not this series, it just seems to get better and better. Ms. Ferguson weaves a wonderful romance around a gripping suspense- bringing two of my favourite elements together in one unputdownable package. This is a superb romantic suspense- with a wounded warrior/military theme, second chances, drama, mystery, emotion, intrigue, action, and more. Samantha Caldwell and Benjamin Nash’s first encounter is in war torn Iraq when Samantha’s team is attacked by terrorists. She is wounded in the ensuing fight and left bleeding on the side of the road where Benjamin finds her. As rescue arrives, Benjamin is also shot and wounded. But this is not the end of their story- as fate brings them together again 2 years later at the Wounded Warrior training facility in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin. Soon romance is in the air, but also find themselves in a new battle of survival- as Samantha is once more targeted by terrorists. What happens makes for an exciting read. This is a fast paced, quick, and easy read. It can be read as a standalone, but as the series revolves around Crystal Rock and the close-knit community there- I really recommend the rest of the books in the series too. Reading them will help build a much bigger picture, where you will discover interconnected storylines, character connections and gain a much better appreciation for these books/series! I really can’t wait to see what Ms. Ferguson does next!
TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 9 By Tamara Ferguson ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Romance, Suspense and War Heroes, what more could you ask for?
Captain Samantha Caldwell is a wounded warrior herself. Sam lost part of her left leg, when her team had been hijacked. But nothing can stop this strong woman from getting her job back in control. She has set out to train others, who want to continue their time in the armed forces. She also keeps her own health in check. Captain Benjamin Nash is the team following Samantha's team. He was warned that the mission could be compromised. Little did he expect to come across a fellow servicemen injured on the side of the road. Offering her help and getting her to the chopper was only one of his goals. Ben was injured himself in doing so. Two years later he finds himself in the wounded warrior program. Can these two unlikely people work together? Will they be able to stop the terrorist who wants Sam dead? Will this bring forth the romance between them? Only reading this book can answer those questions.
Tamara Ferguson has written this incredible story. This is book 9 in the series, and it does not disappoint. Her stories are about wounded veterans, who return home. I fell in love with Sam and Ben's story. This is a rollercoaster of emotions wrapped up in this romantic suspense series. Please take the time to read each book in this series. Take the time to get to know Tamara Ferguson's wounded warriors. Best of the best right here. Thank You Tamara Ferguson, for this series. Looking forward to reading more from you!
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes is the ninth book in Tamara Ferguson’s Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance series. I think I have read every single one of Tamara’s books – I was hooked from the very first one I picked up! There is something magical about the world she creates with her words, magical in a sense of the humanity and togetherness and brotherhood and the goodness and the eternal hope for the best, for that there shall be light after the darkness … When I feel down then I know that picking up one of Tamara’s books I will feel better. Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes gives us Captain Samantha Caldwell and Captain Ben Nash who are thrown together when Sam is being targeted by terrorists after she killed their leader in Iraq and Ben is there to keep her safe. The ride that Sam and Ben takes us on is thrilling and nail-biting and I was happy to meet couple of ‘old friends’ from other of Tamara’s books and it is always a pleasure to return to Crystal Rock! You could read this story as a standalone but I promise you that you will get even more out of it by reading also the other books as the Crystal Rock universe will pull you in and then you want to venture outside the Wounded Warrior series as it is like an old tapestry with threads interwoven and having created a magnificent piece of art!
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes is the 9th book in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book series by Tamara Ferguson. All books in the series can be read as a stand-alone although characters from previous books do re-appear. I haven’t read all the books in this series yet but have recently become a huge fan and I’m working my way through them and have loved every one so far. In this book Captain Ben Nash and Captain Samantha Caldwell have a very brief meeting when he saves her life in Iraq. Neither knew who the other was but have always wanted to know the identity of each other. A couple of years later the couple meet when Ben is sent undercover to the wounded warrior camp that Sam runs. The attraction is instant but Ben is pretending to be a much lower rank than he really is which would make him unattainable to Sam. This is a fantastic story of 2 people who do not let their disabilities hold them back. Ben lost an arm and Sam a leg in the incident in Iraq. The attraction between the 2 provides for some amusing moments. When Sam’s life becomes in danger the storyline becomes intriguing and will have you gripped. There are also some great secondary characters in this book, including 2 incredibly cute dogs that Sam adopts. A great read!
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance #9) by Tamara Ferguson
5 out of 5 stars
Two Hearts unlikely heroes is the ninth book in the Two hearts wounded warrior series and its not my first read by this amazing author. I have read quite a few books in this series, but I think this one was my favorite. The characters where well written and outgoing with their quirky ways. The plot was awesome with a different concept from the rest of the series. This book is about hope and happily ever after.
AFOSI Agent Captain Ben Nash met Captain Samantha Caldwell in Iraq when she was wounded after killing the leader of the terrorist group who targeted military convoys.
A few years later Ben and Sam meet up at the wounded warrior program in Crystal rock. Sam doesn’t remember Ben, but he seems familiar to her sometime. Ben has never forgotten Sam. He wants to get close to her but how should he do it without scaring her away? Now Sam is being targeted by the terrorist’s group after killing their leader in Iraq, can Ben keep her safe?
You will have to read this book to find out what happens and if this couple gets a happily ever after…

I'm seriously about out of words to use to review this author and this series. I love Crystal Rock, Wisc. and I want to live there!! It helps that Wisconsin is home to me and I want to move back there so badly, so reading all of these books is completely comforting to me. Even when they are filled with suspense and danger and edge of your seat kind of words, reading another is like coming home.
This can absolutely be read as a standalone, but there is so much that comes before and the return of so many characters scattered throughout makes it so worth reading the whole series, actually a couple different series that revolves around this town and these amazing people.
This one is full of danger and I love how there was no insta love between Ben and Samantha, with everything going on their growing connection felt even more real.
I love this series, and the writing style and imagination of this author is unmatched for these types of stories.
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes was a great 5 star read and book nine in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance series.
Sam is wounded in Iraq during an attack on her convoy but she was also a hero as well. Ben comes across the wreckage after he sees the explosion and finds Sam. She is in serious condition and helps get her stable until the helicopter can pick her up. In the process he is also wounded.
We jump ahead a couple of years and Ben hasn’t been able to get Sam out of his mind. Problem is he never learned her name. When Ben is offered a great opportunity with the military he has to find a female partner. When he goes to Crystal Lake WI to train he ends up seeing Sam and recognizes her immediately.
Sam finds herself very attracted to Ben. The more they are together the stronger the attraction. Sam also finds herself being targeted by terrorists. Will Ben be able to keep her safe? Can they have a HEA?
Overall this was a great read that pulled me right in. I really liked Sam and Ben, they were both very strong characters with big hearts. If you're looking for a great read, 1-click and get started now. All books in the series can be read as stand alones.
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes is the 9th book in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior series by Tamara Ferguson. I have read most of them and this one started very similar to another, at first I worried I had already read it. It is a nice clean romance novel with a touch of suspense. I enjoy all of Ferguson's books, and my only complaint is she never spends enough time on the endings. This book follows two wounded Captains, Samantha Caldwell and Ben Nash as they are reunited. Ben met Sam the day she was wounded, but neither knew the other's name. Fate, or perhaps planned intervention, brought them back together years later at a training camp for wounded soldiers. Terrorists are targeting Sam, and they don't know who or why. We spend the entire book anticipating the attack, wondering who and why she is being targeted. When the attack finally happened, there was very little information provided and the story wrapped up soon after. I would have liked to learn more about them, and have the scene described better. That aside, I still highly recommend this book and all of Ferguson's. I am excited when I see another book released. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors.
5 Star TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8) by Tamara Ferguson

This Author is one of my favorite go to authors her style of writing grabs ahold of you from the beginning and doesn’t let up till the end.Her characters are very well developed and easily relatable. This is Ben and Samantha’s story ,these two meet in Iraq by chance but there’s a weird connection between them . A few years later down the road they run into each other again but she’s avoiding him .He doesn’t know why. She just can’t seem to get past the feeling that there’s more than meets the eye to Ben. What will happen when the truth comes out? Can they have their HEA? Find out what happens next in this must read. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
I borrowed Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Captain Samantha Caldwell becomes a wounded warrior on a mission in Iraq, while saving her men and destroying the shipment of arms the terrorists were after. Captain Benjamin Nash comes upon a woman beside a blown up shipment of arms and stops and saves her life but does not find out her name.
Two years later, he is also a wounded warrior from the same mission and is ready to go back to active service. He is sent to the Wounded Warrior Retraining Center in Crystal Rock, Wisconsin as training to become a AFOSI agent.
A terrorist cell working in the United States has targeted Samantha and Ben is assigned the best assignment of his career to protect Samantha. The plot is full of suspense, high levels of training and support from the group of trainees in the program that Samantha is working in as a trainer. In Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes it is the unlikely heroes in the training class that save both Ben and Sam. This series just keeps getting better and better.
TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 9) By Tamara Ferguson 5 out of 5 stars
The story TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 9) is an amazing story to read. It pulls you in right from the beginning and I found that I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Captain Samantha Coldwell and Captain Ben Nash. They both have served their country with honor. When it is found out that terrorists have the facility and Samantha in their sites, Ben takes on the role of her protector. There is an attraction between Ben and Samantha. There are sparks between them. Will those who threaten Samantha be caught? What does the future hold for Ben and Samantha? Read this story to find out. I absolutely adore this series! Book 9 and I am still loving it every time the author brings out a new one! I love her writing, it captures my attention from the beginning – the stories are full of action, romance and always wonderful characters that I always fall in love with straight away! Two Hearts Unlikely was no exception! I was hooked from beginning to end. Sam and Ben’s story was a wonderful read – from the moment they met I knew there would be something special between them. Their initial meeting was full of action and I was left wondering how this story was going to play out! I loved watching the characters navigate the world of terrorists and the danger that surrounded them. The authors writing is in depth and detailed and I always feel like I am right there in the story at times. – This is one of the reasons why I never hesitate in picking up a book by her! I am already looking forward to her next release!
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 9) by Tamara Ferguson is another amazing story in the Wounded Warrior Romance series and her characters are written to be loved. I always find myself getting lost in the heroes and heroines and each leaves a lasting impression and steal your heart. If it is a story that Tamara has written I know I am always in safe hands and will absolutely love the story because she is a great storyteller.
Samantha has served her country and is now coming to terms and peace with the injury she endured to the point she is ready for more but what she didn’t know was that a certain Captain Ben Nash would be part of that more.
Ben is undercover and waiting for the full details to come to light but in the process, he finds the one person he has been looking for and will stop at nothing to her protector.
As always, I look forward to what Tamara gives us next.
TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 9) by Tamara Ferguson. These books just keep getting better and this author definitely knows how to pull me in each and every time. I alway know going in I’m in for quite the ride and I’m never disappointed. From the emotions, action and edge of my seat moments I loved every minute of it. The characters are complex and relatable and so well detailed you can picture them immediately. In fact the entire story comes to life right before your eyes, and I tend to forget I’m reading a book. I love characters that have a background that gives me all the feelings and this author gives me just that and so much more. As always this story was well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I simply couldn’t put it down and was definitely up way past my bedtime. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!
This is the first book I have read from Tamara Ferguson’s Two hearts series, I can’t wait to go back and read the rest. The story starts with Samantha, who is on a mission that soon goes wrong. After her captain is killed Sam was now in charge, after her and her team fight back Sam is badly injured. Ben Nash witnesses an explosion and when they come to help he finds and rescues Sam, but he is also injured in the process. Two years later they are reunited in unlikely circumstances, and the story follows the pair as they become closer and look to be finding their happy ever after ending. But the past catches up to them and they find themselves in danger once again. A must read, I loved it. The characters are so easy to like and I love how Ben breaks through Sam's initially frost persona. Despite being part of a well established series, this can definitely be read as a stand-alone book. Once I got started reading I found this book hard to put down.
Romance with suspense. Sammatha lost part of her leg in a terrorist attack in Iraq ans was rescued by Ben who ends of losing part of of his arm in the process. They meet again 10 years later at a Wounded Warrior retrainng center. It appears that someone is trying to kill Sam. They work together along with help of family and other trainees from the center to end the threat. Learning about each other, finding the strength and compassion in each other, and facing the danger head on, leads these two to fall in love and become soul mates. The addition of adopting two dogs from the center's animals shelter is a heartwarming side story. This book is part of a series but stands on it own. Shows the strength of our military personnel and how we need to make sure they have the care they need always.
This is a suspense filled story with love in the healing.Captain Samantha Caldwell lost half of her leg while on a mission in Iraq.Captain Ben Nash rescued her an the other survivors losing his arm in the process. Now Ben is being sent undercover to wounded warriors training to see if it's being targeted. He's never forgot the beautiful woman he rescued an had asked but could never find out her name or how she was. She's an instructor at the Wounded Warriors training center. Also she's being targeted by terrorist because she killed a high up Isis member. There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes by Tamara Ferguson is book nine of the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance series. This book can be read as a standalone. This book tells a really great story of love in unlikely places.
Samantha and Ben has a quick chance meeting under battle conditions in Iraq. As unlikely as it would seem, Ben and Samantha meet again when Ben arrives at the training facility in Wisconsin. Ben hasn’t been able to get Samantha out of his mind and now maybe he can do something about it. Ben isn’t only at the training facility as an airman though and Samantha is in danger. Can these two foster their relationship while making sure Samantha isn’t targeted?
This was such a great story. You are able to watch the characters grow and you can almost feel their love for each other against all the obstacles they face. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This book was great! Every single one of the books that I have read by this author has been awesome and this one is no exception. The author has a way of pulling you in and keeping you nterested throughout the entire story and I couldn't get enough. The main characters in this book are Ben and Samantha. They meet by chance in Iraq and immediately see that there is a connection between them but they part ways and dont see each other again until a few years. Ben doesnt want to deny the connection he is feeling but Samantha wants to run the other way. They have a long way to go if they want a HEA between them. I am looking forward to reading more by this author and I would recommend this book to a friend! Happy Reading!
I like the real feel of this book. The trauma filled passed, turned in to useful information. Though the bad guy isn't hard to figure out. The was its all brought together is worth the read!!
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes by Tamara Ferguson is the ninth book in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although the whole series is worth your time. As with the other books in this series this one was well written with lasting, interesting characters. You know instantly that Sam and Ben are going to be characters that you get behind. Their connection is instant and it is palpable. This author is one of those that you always know you will get a good book! It doesn’t matter which one of hers I pick up I always enjoy them all, and this one is no exception.

Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes is the ninth book in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Series by Tamara Ferguson. I absolutely love this series and this is my favorite book so far in this series. I live in Northern Wisconsin and I feel like the area around my home could be Crystal Rock, so I feel A kinship to this series. I also find that Ms. Ferguson does a wonderful job showing all side of Wounded Warriors dealing with issues. The characters are so true to life and the feels this book brought out are amazing. Sam and Ben have crazy chemistry and I love how they work through their issues. I highly recommend this book, series and author.
