Devastatingly handsome Rafaello Montebello has never known a woman he couldn’t charm, but he’s finally met his match in determined Ice Queen Lauren Monroe. He knows she’s got a softer side, but whenever he’s in the room, Lauren freezes over completely. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Raf decides to seduce the beautiful stranger. It starts off as fun – a distraction – but the closer he gets to Lauren the more he realownises she was right to keep him at arm’s length.
Young widow Lauren lives a lonely life – completely by choice. Having experienced the agony of loving and losing someone before, she’s determined to avoid knowing that unique pain ever again. It’s a rule she’s never come close to breaking…until Raf Montebello enters her life and makes it impossible to say ‘no’.
A brief affair isn’t the end of the world, as long as she remembers that nothing lasts forever. Waking up in his arms might be sinfully sweet, but it’s just an illusion. Isn’t it?
Book four in The Montebellos series is a sexy, heartwarming romance that will set your soul on fire.

Clare Connelly grew up in a small country town in Australia. Surrounded by rainforests, and rickety old timber houses, magic was thick in the air, and stories and storytelling were a huge part of her childhood.
From early on in life, Clare realised her favourite books were romance stories, and read voraciously. Anything from Jane Austen to Georgette Heyer, to Mills & Boon and (more recently) 50 Shades, Clare is a romance devotee. She first turned her hand to penning a novel at fifteen (if memory serves, it was something about a glamorous fashion model who fell foul of a high-end designer. Sparks flew, clothes flew faster, and love was born.)
Clare has a small family and a bungalow near the sea. When she isn't chasing after energetic little toddlers, or wiping fingerprints off furniture, she's writing, thinking about writing, or wishing she were writing.
Another fabulous instalment about the gorgeous, rich and all-powerful Montebello family! This one starts with an absolute heart-stopper! Superb - couldn’t put it down.
Lauren is a counsellor who's job is to help patients accept the inevitable end of their life. She is asked to help the grandmother of Alessia's husband who has had a stroke. Lauren understands well as she married her childhood friend and loved him till his illness took him from her. She has sealed her feeling inside and does her job well because she will not let her emotions rule her. Until she meets Rafaele , he comes to be with his grandmother as she has raised all her grandsons and is loved dearly, there is an instant attractions but Lauren stays firm that she must honor her late husband. Can she after the electricity that ignites between them? Will she allow herself to finally let go of the past and look to the future? What a story and the Montebello's Book 4 is another keeper. I have to say Ms. Connelly is truly an amazing author and her stories are always always golden.
3.5 stars. Nothing exciting but enjoyable enough. Enjoyable enough read but not earth shattering heat or romance factor. Yaya has a stroke and gets a personal nurse who intrigues Rafael with her non comital attitude. This just glides along with these two non relationship wanting adults spending time together, not realising that they are falling. The ending felt fairly rushed and ties up quickly. We don't get much time with the others we have come to know. I liked both main characters though Lauren was living, or non living, in a vacuum. Rafael just saw another beautiful woman he wanted in his bed. The bonus story THE SHEIKH’S BABY BARGAIN was very harlequin in plot. I am not of fan of this style of story so just skimmed it. Hero was controlling and spent little time with his ‘wife’. There is an illegitimate son, not son, hanging around. Non truthful communication and the usual Love conquers all ending. Read through Kindle Unlimited.
Great chemistry and many challenging emotions. Clare is an nurse committed to her career to care for people facing death, especially children. She has been hired as a companion to Yaya, the matriarch of the family. Her grandson, Rafaello is a dye hard bachelor who likes brief sexual encounters and no commitments. They each carry deep hurts that keep them single. What happens to them to overcome their pasts makes their journey heartbreaking and heartwarming. Fascinating and well written. Enjoy!
Not as good as previous stories in the series, but probably because of Lauren’s state of mind. Plus, the ending was rather abrupt and lacked bridge from events between final chapters. Despite the criticisms, I still recommend the book. Bonus book was quite good as well.
This is the time I realized I'm so into Clare Connelly's writing style and her characters, especially her lead girls, really touched my heart. They came out strong in the end and made me so proud of them, ngl. 😭 Anyway, Lauren is the purest lead girl in this series. And for Rafaello, well, a Montebello.
This next episode in the Montebello series has a storyline that deals with different life challenges and the approach and handling. Engaging and difficult to put down.
