KNIGHTMARE

Rate this book
KNIGHTMARE is the name of a heavy metal rock band which features bizarre make-up and exagerated medieval armor. During a concert in Portland the lead-singer, Rob, tries a new Jamaican weed and is suddenly joined on stage by a hideous, one-eyed monster. A moment later he finds himself in a castle in England under siege by Norman invaders. He attempts to grapple with his new environment – which includes a female necromancer who created the monster, Kaliban; a lovely young nubile daughter who struggles to understand Rob's modern-American expressions and attitudes; a lord obsessed with an absurd collection of “religious relics”; a cook specializing in “moat stew”; two “dung-shovelers” who attempt to form a rebellion modeled after Robin Hood's merry men; incompetent Norman spies and an assortment of medieval conventions which confuse and amuse our hero. It is satiric, imaginative, and meant to be fun.
