This review is for the third book of this series. For some reason I had trouble finding just the third book last wolf standing, to add to my books. The main characters are Micheala and Brody(the bloodrunner with the scarred face). I really was shocked to find I liked this book even better than the second one. This is the best of the triligy. Good ol Rhyannon Byrd never lets me down. I have to say I reccommend this trilogy you won't be disappointed if you like the paranormal romance!
I'm glad I decided to buy the bundle and honestly I wasn't surprised it was good. I cannot decide which story was better. They were all full of action from beginning to end. I realize these stories were written in 2008 but I didn't care. The author knows how to pull the characters out and the dialogue was not immature.
Very intense, erotic, strong hot alpha males, that always determined they don't have a mate, well until they find theirs. ;) Lot of action, which always keeps moving forward wanting to find out what will happen next.I think the reason I like her books is because they actually do turn into wolfs. I mean after all isn't that what the story is about? Wolves aka werewolves???
This is a 3 book bundle. Each book with a couple and separate story but there is a story that links them all together. The Bloodrunners are trying to catch a murderer and someone who is trying to take over the entire town and way of life of the Lycan. The crime solving takes a backseat to the love stories but that is the link between all 3 books. Nice bundled for the price and full of fun shape shifter excitement, fighting and loving. Nice escape and cost much less that a physical trip to the mountains.
The romantic aspect of the plots are... identical and almost unbearably predictable. But here's what bothers me the most, about these and the spare few other romance novels that I've read: the overuse of pet names, particularly "sweetheart" and "baby" by the males characters to the female ones. Ugh. Eye rolling aside, they just make this rushed intimacy between strangers all that much more forced.
I actually read book #4 Dark Wolf Rising first. I liked that one and decided to read the rest. The story lines do have the same theme to them but so do most of these types of series. I felt that with each book the writing and the characters got better and better. I am now reading book #5 Dark Wolf Running and so far so good.
I purchased as a bundle and am happy that I did. I quickly read through the entire set, enjoying meeting each of the Bloodrunners and their mates. A paranormal romance series that supported a consistent overarching storyline through solid stand-alone stories. The level of heat was quite high but mostly supportive of the romance and story.
This series was my gateway drug into the paranormal romance genre. Afterwards, all I wanted to read were novels about wolf shifters finding their mate. My tastes have since developed, but I owe it all to this series. Rhiannon Byrd has such a talent at bringing out the passion between characters that it is scorching and unforgettable.
These are on my re-read list for 2023, definitely!
I read book 4 first and then 1-3... I loved this series and all the bloodrunners. I did enjoy how eloquently written the author was but found the story lines a bit repetitious from book to book. But with an good wolf happy ending I was happy to read it again and again.
So I quit after the first book. It started out hilarious and then they lost me. Meh. If I had read Book #1 before I read Book #4 I would have never gotten any farther than the first book.
