But the engagement his family forced upon him is a burden too big for Callan to bear. One day, on the shores of Inverness-shire he discovers an unconscious, but a most alluring lass, who will shake him to the core and make him question where his loyalties lie.

Tara Bright's mission is to honor her father's trading alliance and marry the rich and mysterious Ranald Carlisle of Balmore. When she wakes up after a tragic shipwreck, Tara realizes that her life will never be the same. Not only did she lose her father and can't find her way to her intended, but she is extremely attracted to the handsome son of a local highland chief.

The sea brought her to him, now he must do anything to keep her...

The book was good but the extended epilogue was not. Says eager to learn what the future holds for Tara and Callan
But it was about Ian, John and Alice. Nothing about Tara or Callan. I hate extended epilogues can't get them unless I use my phone. Don't understand why you can't just add it to the book. Very frustrating to have to search for it.

Why the change?

In book one, we are witness to the romance of Murdo and Emily and the birth of their twins, Alice and Colum. But somewhere between book one and two, Colum became Callen. While very disconcerting, the basic story was an enjoyable adventure with 3 happy endings, even though some well loved characters came to an end.

PROOFREADING NEEDED!

This book was extremely hard to read. For some reason, this book was published without an editor looking over it, first. The plot of this story had promise, but I didn’t enjoy the author’s writing style. A good portion of this book is the main characters traveling back and forth across the country side. Gets monotonous.

Wow, the imagery in this book! The way the castles are described gave me the chills. There is the small matter that the main character's name was different from in the last book (when he was born and named). The speed with which the characters travelled from place to place in this book was a little jarring considering how long it took in the last book. It was a love story and did not disappoint in that regard.

Fighting for a Highland Heart

Callan MacPherson visiting the Grants castle to be with his forced engagement came down to the beach with his twin sister. They found Tara the only survived along with broken ship parts and dead people. Tara and Callan had a connection but Tara was delivered to the Carlisle castle. Ranald wanted war with all the clans to get grazing for sheep he was to get for marring Tara. Her father died from that ship wreck so her brother had to take over. War broke out and Ranald wasn’t really him. He was a classmate and a look alike of Ranald’s. When the real Laird Carlisle and the real Ranald were reviled things became different.

We met Murdo MacPherson in an earlier book. How he and Emily Nesmith fell in love and married despite the fighting between her father's army and his father's fight against the English conquerors made for a great read. Now we find their children, Callan and Alice, finding love in the strangest of places. We begin this story by following Tara Bright as she heads by ship from Edinburgh to Banmore in Scotland to marry a Highland man, the son of a business partner of her father. He is travelling with her. There is another man travelling to the same port with a mysterious cargo that appears to have great value, Suddenly a ferocious storm arises and catches the ship in its path, destroying it and leading to the death of everyone on board except Tara Bright. Alice finds her and she and Callan take her to their castle to recover from her ordeal. This love story is filled with adventure, misdirection, an evil villain, a missing laird, a mystery, battles and a reunion with an old friend. This is a really fast paced tale moving from one thing to another quickly. I could not put this one down. It was difficult to find a passage that was an ending point for something without something else starting right up. I loved the action and adventure parts as much as the loving parts. This is a well written, fast paced read with all the elements of romance and love entwined throughout.

ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!!!
Crash and burn! Kenna totally rocked this fantastic storyline and spinning plot with on point realism. She pulls all the emotions you feel and intensifies them through you, front and center, with what feels like gale force winds steadily battering against our heart and soul. Man, twixt and twined and put through the wringer with a plethora of events that launch this bad boy roaring to life flawlessly. The drama, uncertainty, distress and trumoil hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration, while holding you on a razors edge. Yeah! It doesn't get any better than this. One wild rollercoaster ride full of non-stop action, intrigue and suspense make for one incredible experience. The characters chemistry is intense, white hot and palpable. The characters are authentic, genuine and realistic with depth and individuality that feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it's like being transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Kenna, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

A Web Of Deception

Wow!! What a wonderful story!  Kenna Kendrick's novels keep getting better and better. Her stories are always interesting and allows a reader to imagine themselves as one of the characters. Fighting for a Highland Heart has amazing characters that are  believable and easy to relate to. Callan and Tara came alive for me as I pictured them falling in love with each other. Their story has a way of grabbing you the first few pages and then you can't put the book down until the end. With delicious passion, trials and tribulations, hope, uncertainty, loss, and all the twists and turns make this one outstanding read that you won't want to miss. I always enjoy how well Kenna brings in the other characters from other series making for cohesive storytelling. I look forward the her next book!

What a story!!! Page after page of action-packed adventure of an unwanted betrothal, severely bad weather, a shipwreck, one survivor, skirmishes, threats of war, deception, betrayal, murder and romance. Breathtaking descriptive scenes, dynamic and well written dialogue, electrifying main characters and secondary characters, impossible plot and subplots and more than one awesome and surprising romances. I loved reading this and read straight through. 99% spelling and pronoun error free and excellent proofreading. The extended epilogue was supposed to be about the main characters but it was not and left with a cliffhanger. Now I am looking forward to the next installment of this series to find out what that was all about. An excellent read and I highly recommend it.

**This my freely given review of this ARC**
From the ship on the water, the sinking of this ship, a young woman and her father enroute to a new destiny when the ship sinks and she and the cargo it's only survivors. Thus begins your new journey through Kenna Kendrick's latest HIGHLAND ROMANCE!
A well crafted tale from the beginning to the end that i thought was well thought out and laid down on the pages for us to enjoy.
Kenna takes us on the sea , over the land and with enough twists and turns to keep you flipping pages as the plot (s) thicken .
Nicely done ! I liked what I read, and enjoy reading Ms Kendrick's books every time I've had the chance to do so.

This is one author you can count on to take you to the Highlands with the perfect escape. In this one Callan will have your ear thanks to his full plate while he wheedles his way into the heart. Then when he shaken awake so to speak in comes Tara to the tale. You become riveted to each of them as something grows from a spark. We see it come to life with adventure and mystery. It has the elements you look for in a novel such as this. You will quickly find yourself racing through time coming to the end of this one well satisfied.

"“Farewell, father,” she whispered to him. “I shall not disappoint you.” " This quote stood out for me! A testament to Tara's strength throughout the story. This was exciting, with so much action, and a very nice plot twist. The characters were so well fleshed, I felt like I knew them. A few nice, sexy sections to melt in! Tara and Callan, despite their deep feelings, would do right by their families, right? Just you wait and see! I really enjoyed this story, and recommend this 4+* historical romance.

A Nice Highland Romance

This is an interesting story set in 18th century Scotland. It contains villains, war, clans of hunky Scottish men, and of course love at first sight. A nice read to satisfy that historical romance itch.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of unexpected twists in the story which I did not see coming. Also, this book can be read by itself, not requiring to have read the prior books in the series.

It was an enjoyable book with memorable characters. Tara and Callan met after a tragedy and it was love at first sight, unfortunately both were already betrothed to other people.
