This book contains the Background information/ Lore and Army Rules to make and make a Warhammer 40K Space Marine army.

And overall it does just that: Lots of flexabilty, lots of choices, lots of options,.....
In all about half the book is dedicated to rules and the many, many, many different SM entries in the army. The other half is divided between background on various types of Marines, Artwork of those marines or pictures of professorially painted miniatures.

Overall this is a isn't a bad book, but from a background perspective there wasn't all that much. Most of the pages were dedicated to brief descriptions of various units only to quickly move on to the next unit. Thus leaving little space over for the deeper lore on the Adeptus Astartes and their place in the 40K universe.

The book is interesting and full of information, but there are dark sides, too. So many ortographic mistakes for example. But really frustrating is the omni-presence of Ultra Marines... but that was to be expected. The biggest Problem for me, the miniature pictures. I had wished for at least one picture of any unit mentioned in the book, but instead we got multiple pictures of the same models in same the coloring, sometimes even the same pose... that was avoidable.
