This series has been very encouraging to see published and I hope there will be a sequel to the main book soon. :)
Nice little book about 12 women who can be spiritual examples to young girls. It was told in a simple way with a short biography of the woman, such as Corrie Ten Boom, or Harriet Tubman. Then an encouragement to girls of what they might do. And finally a scripture verse to illustrate the woman’s life. The facing page has an illustration of the woman that is featured. This is a book that parents can use to springboard discussions with their children. *I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. My daughters (ages 7 and 4) loved reading She Believed: 12 Stories of Courageous Women of Faith Who Changed the World. They’ve been fans of the Courageous Girls series and She Believed goes right along with that. Each page spread features one woman with her story on the left page and an illustrated portrait on the right page. The engaging narrative is fairly short and will likely appeal to younger readers. This collection includes well-known women (Clara Barton, Mother Teresa, and Harriet Tubman) as well as lesser-known women (Mary Slessor, and Edith Schaeffer).
I recommend She Believed: 12 Stories of Courageous Women of Faith Who Changed the World for children ages 3-9. Although the book is targeted to girls, boys will learn from the stories as well.

12 stories of courageous women of faith who changed the world.
She Believed is part of the Courageous Girls series and shares the stories of a dozen faith-filled women throughout history that changed the world. Each woman is showcased across two pages, including a drawn portrait, her life-span years, a short synopsis of how she changed the world, and an accompanying scripture verse.
A few of the women showcased are Florence Nightingale (founder of nursing) Harriet Tubman (leader of the Underground Railroad) Mary Slessor (a missionary to Africa) and Sojourner Truth (a Civil Rights leader.) The faith and strength these women possessed changed the lives of so many and ultimately changed the world we live in.
This hardcover book designed for girls 5-8 years-old encourages young girls that they too can make a difference, no matter their circumstances, if they hold true to their faith.

My Review:
In this day and age young girls need a positive role model. A role model that is worthy of being called such. We just really haven't seen anyone that fits that in a really long time. She Believed, is a perfect book for young girls to see some women that weren't afraid to be role models or to stand up for what was right or just even something they believed in.
Women such as Gladys Aylward a missionary that took care of orphans in China. She seen God move on her behalf many times. Or lady like Clara Barton that was shy until God gave her the boldness to help soldiers during the Civil War and went on to found the red Cross.
Or Catherine Booth that in a day and age where women weren't allowed to be ministers was able along with her husband to found the Salvation Army and was able to spread the love of God in the way she felt led.
These are just a few examples of some of the great women that were unafrad to do what God put on their hearts to do.
Each entry is one page long and is short and to the point.
A great way for our girls to gain some inspiration!
I read this book with my kids before bed over a couple week period. The stories about 12 different Christian women were short and engaging. They didn’t provide a lot of details about each woman, but enough to pique your interest and give you an idea how they were used by God. I was familiar with all the women mentioned, but some people might not be. This was a good introduction to some special women that trusted God and tried to follow him.
A collection of very brief biographies (like a paragraph each) of women in church history. Includes a Catholic nun who’s called a saint and a vague argument that women should be able to preach just like men.
Plot: Girls today need strong feminine role models to look up to and this collection of twelve stories provides girls with twelve historic women to admire and look up to.
Written in short concise entries, girls are introduced to Gladys Aylward, Clara Barton, Catherine Booth, Amy Carmichael, Fanny Crosby, Florence Nightingale, Edith Schaeffer, Mary Slessor, Corrie Ten Boom, Mother Teresa, Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman.
Each entry is beautifully illustrated and accompanied by a Bible verse that helps to anchor the story in the Word of God for readers.
Likes/Dislikes: I really enjoyed this little book. The stories are short, concise and to the point without being overly long. I read it to my three girls who are 6, 3 and 18 months. The baby lost interest when she wasn't allowed to eat the book or rip out the pages but the older two listened to the stories and seemed interested. I feel like it is missing the story of Joan of Arc though which was a story I always grew up with as a girl and which mine would adore because swords are popular in my house right now. All in all, I liked it.

She Believed is the perfect way to impress upon little girls their ability to change the world. This book offers the stories of twelve brave women who, through their courage and faith, helped make our world a better place. Two pages are devoted to each person and they include an one-page biography with an appropriate Bible verse and a fun, illustrated portrait. Many of the names are familiar, such as Harriet Tubman, Mother Teresa, and Florence Nightingale, but there are several that are not as well-known, but certainly just as important.
She Believed is a beautiful hardcover book with easy-to-read text that targets young girls ages 5-8 and colorful illustrations that they will love. It is the perfect way to share God's Word with these girls and to also encourage them to be brave and faithful!

SHE BELIEVED: 12 Stories of Courageous Women of Faith who Changed the World by Jean Fischer is a wonderful hardcover book from Shiloh Kidz, an imprint of Barbour Publishing. Written for young girls age 5 and up, this lovely book features twelve of the most courageous women in history. Clara Barton, Mother Teresa, Corrie Ten Boom, and Harriet Tubman are only four of those women featured. Each woman's page has a painted picture of each one on one page and on the opposite page, their names and dates of life, what she did that was special such as prayed, believed, had hope, had joy, and served others. And at the bottom of each descriptive story about each woman, is a Bible verse that is relevant to what she did. These women of faith served Jesus with the special talents God gave them and with courage, and history remembers them.
From its beautifully illustrated, colorful cover to the final page, SHE BELIEVED is a book that will encourage and inspire little girls to be like these women too. I highly recommend it for a lovely gift, a church library, or even just as a special treat for bedtime reading.

This is a wonderful gift book for girls, the publisher says for ages 5 and up-your preteens will enjoy it, as did I.
The book is printed in a nice larger print, that makes it easier to read. It has whimsical pictures of each of the twelve ladies who are featured in it.
It teaches girls all about wonderful women of faith who rely on their faith to help them accomplish many great things.
The twelve women featured in this book are:
GLADYS AYLWARD CLARA BARTON CATHERINE BOOTH AMY CARMICHAEL FANNY CROSBY FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE EDITH SCHAEFFER MARY SLESSOR CORRIE TEN BOOM MOTHER TERESA SOJOURNER TRUTH HARRIET TUBMAN
As you can see, it has stories about women from the past and present, ladies that you may have heard of and maybe some ladies that you haven't heard of. The book is very beautiful. Would make a nice gift.

She Believed was a wonderful book. I originally got it for my niece and cannot wait to give it to her. It’s a perfect blend of inspiration and encouragement for the girls in our lives. I thoroughly enjoy the book and think it’s a great present for all those little ones we love.

I believe this book can be a valuable resource for any young girl’s library. It is educational, inspirational and empowering. It would make an excellent homeschool resource as a base in which to spark deeper studies into these women’s lives, teachings and faith. It also would make a great Mom & Daughter or Grandma & Granddaughter time mini devotional to create conversations centered around the encouragement and Scriptures. The illustrations are pretty, girly and unique. Appropriate for ages 5-10.
