I’m a USA Today Bestselling Author that loves to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels, although I am partial to romantic suspense. I even dabble in paranormal. Honestly, I love anything that has to do with romance. As long as there's a happy ending, I'm a happy camper. And insta-love…yes, please! I love baseball (Go Twins!) and creating awesome crafts. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, working in that field for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom. I have a few more amazing stories in the works. Being a small town sheriff shouldn’t have the stress of being a law enforcement officer in a large metropolitan area, but lately, for Sheriff Logan Caldwell, life has been a living nightmare. All he needed now was to go to his secluded cabin and decompress for a week, alone.

What he discovered when he arrived at his cabin was the last thing he could ever imagine. A bloody and battered woman lay crumpled up in a ball on his bathroom floor, clearly traumatized. The only words to past her lips when questioned? “I don’t know,” because she didn’t know, her memory was gone. Going into protect mode, Logan finds that as both Sheriff and a compassionate man, he could do nothing but help her out while trying to discover who she was, where she came from and what happened to her and why. Little did he know she would steal his heart with her strength, wit and beauty, as well as her almost childlike trust.

What he finds is a sinister plot more evil than a late night horror and a woman who has been abused by someone she had trusted with her life. As her memories slowly come back online, the danger she is in grows and Logan will have to use every ounce of his detective skills to track down the crazed animal who has hurt the woman he will do anything to protect.

Amanda Siegrist gives us a cross between a cozy mystery with some romance and a dark suspense-filled thriller as she changes up the tone and atmosphere to showcase each scene. From light-hearted banter to horror-worthy secrets, we are thrust headlong into this tale, we ride the bumps and valleys over both smooth and rough terrain. An easy-to-read romance with the bite of a suspense novel. A perfect read to enjoy as you follow a twisted ride to the end.

Actual Rating: 3.5

This is one of those books that really, really, really make me wish that Goodreads had a decimal rating system, because 3 felt too low, but I didn't feel confident in rating this a 4.

Escaping Memories centers around Sheriff Logan Caldwell, who comes home one day to find a bruised and bloody woman in his cabin. She's completely lost her memories, and Logan is determined to help her find out who she is.

There are parts of this book that I really loved, and there are some parts that I'm a little iffy about.

Firstly, I thought that the character development was solid, especially in the heroine. At the beginning, I was hesitant at how readily she seemed to connect with Logan despite their bumpy introduction. I do understand how vulnerable the woman had been when she stumbled upon him, but I felt like she did become too dependent on him; this thought followed me through the book, but as the story progressed, there was clear character development on her part as she learned how to find out things for herself.

I thought that the other characters were developed as well, and I very much enjoyed the sibling dynamics that were present throughout the story, especially between Kat and Logan. In fact, I think Kat was one of my favorite characters in the story. She was supportive and likable, and I felt like she perfectly exemplified intelligence and independence in a very subtle manner.

I quite enjoyed reading the plot, although it did move slowly at the beginning. The first 40% or so seemed to focus more on the relationship between the woman and Logan, and while I do love reading about them, I wish that there had been more paced buildup regarding the crime, rather than fitting everything into the second half. I also wish we could see more into the crime itself and interact more with the people who were involved. I liked how the story had closure, but the motivations and backstories were revealed in one take as characters recounted what they had learned, and I simply wish the suspense had contributed more to the story itself.

I thought that the writing style was engaging, and the book seemed professionally edited for the most part - there was one incorrect use of "you're/your" - but overall, the writing style was clear-cut and interesting.

All in all, I would say that this was a pretty good read; evidently, there are some parts that missed the mark for me, but I would say that the strongest aspects of this book were its characters and how their personalities intertwined and moved the story along.

This is a beautifully sweet romantic suspense with nicely developed three-dimensional characters and a gripping crime story.

I loved the beginning, it really sucked you in, you knew that what happened to the mystery woman was bad and you found yourself edgy as you waited for Logan and his team to work through the clues and solve the crime. I loved the characters, there were a nice array of them and they complimented one another, each adding a new dimension to the story. Even the mystery woman, who you would think could be difficult to use given that she doesn't know anything about herself, was interesting and well developed, even before she got her memory back. I enjoyed the use of light-hearted chatty scenes that were then contrasted with the gritty scenes of solving the mystery of who the mystery woman was and what had happened to her.

I've never read a romantic suspense like this before, what I usually read is quite dark, not to say this was light, but it was super sweet in parts, and yet still had a really good suspenseful crime story. Definitely one to check out!

Escaping memories

I was intrigued by the premise of this story when I read the synopsis. Not being one for crime/suspense kind of stories, I was hesistant at first but was happily surprised with it right from the beginning.

5/5 stars all across the board! Sheriff Logan loves his little town in Minnesota, but when a local man murders his 10 year old daughter and himself, the whole town is quite shaken up. Logan decides to take a short vacation up to his cottage in the woods.... Only to stumble upon a woman who's badly beaten up and cannot remember anything about herself or how she got there.
Logan struggles with his Sheriff role and falling hard for this woman, as him and his team try to find the monster who did this to her.

The writing is captivating, the author balances the right amount of description and dialogue, wit, humor and real world emotion and discussions about what happens to people everyday. I was glued to the page from start to finish!

Escaping Memories is made up of tragedy, suspense, romance, trust and faith that the past and the present will finally meet one day. Author Amanda Siegrist  wrote a book with such a myriad of emotions that it kept me fully engrained in this novel of suspense and love.

I will be honest that when I first started reading, it took me a few pages to really get into to plot of the book but before I knew it I was hooked and going on this journey of "Who Done It."

Ok people, usually I give an in depth review of the characters because that's what personally draws me into reading a book. But this time I'm going to leave you hanging somewhat. I feel if I was to truly tell you about our mystery girl it would give much of the storyline away and ruin the book. So much of this book revolves around our girl of mystery and her MIA memory, so please trust me when I say she is a well thought out character that comes to the table with heart, soul and a bad case of who the hell am I. Now Sheriff Logan Caldwell is a different story, I can talk about him all day long he's quite the opposite of our mystery girl. He's personally having a hellacious week if you ask me, but that doesn't stop him from being compassionate or our mystery girls proverbial knight in shining armor. He's passionate about his job but he's even more passionate about people ,and his caring manner comes out in such a way that you see how he effects a number of characters throughout the book. Logan is such a selfless character that it had me sitting on the edge of my seat and asking myself  how much is he willing to lose for the greater good. Thanks for the several mini heart attacks Ms.Amanda Siegrist.

I could've done without them but I'm better for enduring the momentary pain and trudging along in this suspensefully written book that left me wondering what was  going to happen next.

Ohhh I almost forgot about the romance.... Yes! This book has that too! No ! I wont be going into detail about that either ! Just know I'm saving the book for you people, its all about the element of surprise and keeping the plot a mystery. There is angst, suspense, romance, sex and a whole lot of unanswered questions that will keep you turning the pages in this novel that ask "Who is our mystery girl and what did she leave behind?"

In the small town of Lucky, a young child of ten has been murdered and Sheriff Logan Caldwell will not take a badly needed vacation until it has been handled. Then, it’s off to his cabin in the woods. His place of tranquility. He needed some peace and quiet, some solitude. He walks in, only to find he is not alone.

There is a woman and she needs his help. She has no memories, amnesia. She doesn’t know how or why is she here, she just knows danger is out there and she’s not going anywhere.

Even with the characters fear coming through, Amanda Siegrist writes with humor and lightness.

The immediate hook is great, the story line predictable…but who is the bad guy? At 24%, have I met him yet? I don’t think so, and I do have my eyes wide open. It’s a very small town and I would think he is no stranger to the area. He took her, used and abused her, but somehow she managed to escape. In the back of my mind, a thought persists, will he get his hands on her again?

I love strong women in distress. There is a sweet innocence about her. She has been hurt, terrorized, a childlike woman who needs a protector to help her find her way back to herself. Her naivety and honesty comes through in Amanda Siegrist’s storytelling. Even though their relationship develops quickly, she makes it seem as if it is natural, easy, real, well you know, sort of real.

A subtle menace lurks in the background.

Logan is the man I would want to run into if I were in her situation. He is chivalrous. I find the word perfectly describes him. He will not hurt her or take advantage of her. He is patient, gentle, tender, loving, putting her first in all things.

The peripheral characters have important roles to play and their well developed personalities shine through.

Even though I tend to favor darker and grittier novels, Amanda Siegrist made it easy to get lost in Escaping Memories, with suspense and humor that kept me turning the pages. I didn’t always know where we were going, and I like that she kept me guessing. The characters were easy to relate to and drew me into their lives, wanting to know if everyone makes it out of this mess in a good way…except for the bad guy, of course. He needs his comeuppance.

This is a well written book with a cast of strong characters. The author does a great job painting her scenes and pulled me in with the mystery and kept me reading with all the emotions. It's an intriguing romantic suspense but also has some sweet tender moments. I enjoyed reading this book.

The writing style is not for me. While reading I'm picturing a corny telemovie or soap opera.

Within hours of the woman being discovered in the Sheriff's cabin and he's tending to her wounds, she's feeling tingles. Never mind that she was just running for her life and has no memory. The Sheriff is also thinking about how attractive she is and starts calling her honey and sweetheart. The Sheriff says 'Trying to wrack my brain who would restrain a beautiful, innocent woman like you'. So I guess if she was ugly he wouldn't have to think about it?

The dialogue is often stilted and unnatural. At one point the woman (who is still nameless where I'm up to) says 'Oh, yes. I enjoy this game a lot. We're having so much fun. You weren't gone very long. I'm glad you're back'. Hmm it just doesn't look right. She's also extremely codependent on the Sheriff and due to her memory issues doesn't seem to have much of a personality. Although the Sheriff thinks she's beautiful and funny.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Going in I knew that the author was a bit light for my tastes but the blurb intrigued me too much to pass up. Boy am I glad I gave it a go!

Yes it was light reading for this dark soul but so much suspense is jam packed into this book that I barely noticed. Definitely reccomend for all suspense lovers.

While Lucky may be a small, laid-back town, it doesn't mean that nothing horrible ever happens. So when Sheriff Logan returns to his cabin and sees a highly bruised woman at the end of a long, awful day, he goes into overdrive. Anxious to care and protect her, he doesn't follow protocol, especially when she has no memory of how she got so bruised or how she got to his cabin.

While Doni, as they come to call her, suffers from night terrors and relies heavily on Logan, she is a strong woman. And Logan has come to care for her deeply in a short amount of time, even if it is highly irregular. The two share a strong connection. But the person that did this to her is still out there and they need to find out who it is.

Escaping Memories had its moments of intense suspense, mingled Doni's sweetness and her connection to Logan. I really liked Logan's family and even though he was only trying to protect his sister, I thoroughly disliked Doni's brother and the extremes he took his overbearing attitude. Siegrist did a great job with her characters and storyline, and while her books can be read as standalones, I'm excited for the next book in the series.

Leaps from the very first page! Engrosing!

The mystery of the terrified young woman with no memory captures the reader! As the search for answers always ending in "I don't know" becomes frustrating to everyone, Sheriff Logan (who discovered the woman in his cabin) searches for answers! The traumatized young woman only knows she feels safe in the arms of protective Logan! she Showly learns to trust his siblings Kat and Seth! Doni as she is called (for lack of an actual real name) is resilient and brave while battling the demons tormenting her dreams and very soul!
Soon with help from Logan and his deputies, and later the FBI, the horrific ordeal suffered by Doni becomes clearer, and the twisted truth is revealed!
A compelling story with a delightful cast of characters and protagonists I dearly loved! The series promises to feature other family and friends as the series expands!
Escaping Memories is a compelling storyline the reader is sure to enjoy! Like many romantic suspense stories the material can be too repetitive but I am used to these over angsted moments!

This is book one in A Lucky Town Novel Series and it is Logan and Aubrey's. Omg this book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and it sucks you into the story right from the first page and keeps your attention right until the last page and I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages as it was a real page turner and so addictive along with some twists and turns and that is what makes this book a must read. Danger is just around the corner waiting to strike and someone is watching and waiting for the right time but will they find out who it is before they strike again. I absolutely loved the characters and storyline as it pulled you in and wouldn't let you go until the last page and I can't wait to read the next book in this action packed series. Amanda Siegrist is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I look forward to reading more of her book's in the future.

This is the 1st in a new series and what an intriguing beginning Logan and Aubrey’s story is. Logan is the sheriff is a small town and he leaves to go to his cabin for a week to regroup, and the last things he expects to find is a bloody and beaten women lying on his bathroom floor. Aubrey has no memory at what has happened to her she just has the instinct to run, but she feels safe with Logan. Logan will do whatever he must to protect Aubrey and keep her safe and protected. What will happen when her memory returns? This is a well written story which is filled with suspense, mystery, intrigue, danger, twists, secrets, witty banter, and love. I was totally hooked throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

She has escaped but now is lost in the woods and has no memory of her life. She arrives at a cabin in the woods and it turns out to belong to the local Sherriff. The most patient, handsome and understanding man. The story is follows their developing relationship and discovering who she is and who abducted her.
I enjoyed the characters and their relationships a lot. They grow based on their experiences and even the family and friends are likable. The mystery takes some interesting turns and peaks nicely at the end. I did find the first part of the book rather slow but then the ending is suspenseful and exciting. I like the author's voice and style. I am looking forward to her next book. I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Small town mystery.
A woman stumbles from the woods into the cabin of small-town sheriff while he's on vacation at his cabin retreat. She has obviously been abused and restrained judging by multiple cuts and bruises, but has lost her memory completely. She doesn't know her name or anything about herself

The sheriff immediately calms her and goes full protection mode and finds himself (inconveniently) attracted to the brave beauty.

Big time insta-lust here, which I struggled to believe at the time, but their relationship grew on me as I continued to read.

The dialogue was clunky at times, but not terrible at all. The small town setting was good.

The mystery kept me interested, though it was hard to figure out.

This book contains descriptive love scenes.

Great thriller!

Logan's first day of vacation goes from very bad to worse. His day starts with the murder of a child by her father and ends for the small town sheriff being attacked by a woman beaten and with no memory, hiding in his vacation cabin. As he tries to find out where she was held and who kidnapped and beat her, he and "Doni", the name given to her from an anagram of "I don't know" (her constant answer to questions), become very attached to each other. Each piece of the puzzle is doled out, slowly building. Interesting characters that you hope to get better acquainted with in future stories in the series. An HEA of course.

Book one in this series has made me smile and sigh and held my interest throughout. The connection between Logan and 'Doni' was instant and I liked seeing them together and their connection growing stronger. I enjoyed the twists and turns in this, trying to work out what was going on, who you could trust and getting to know the other people close to Logan. Even though there were dark aspects to this story, it was written with a lightness to it which made it flow nicely. I am looking forward to reading more from this series.

Logan, sheriff in small town Lucky, comes home and moving around in the dark stumbles over a woman lying on the floor. She had entered his cabin and is obviously scared and injured, but begins to trust him. No memory of who she is or where she has come from.
The story slowly unfolds. She clings to Logan, especially fearful in the dark and he provides a safe haven. Her experience is hurting and harsh, his is determination, protecting and caring.
Fear, danger, loss, gossip, excitement, emotions all surround this couple.

This was a decent book, a bit similar to a few others I have read but it was interesting enough for me to keep going. I liked Logan and Doni/Aubrey even though I tend to prefer my H's to be a bit more alpha than Logan was. Some of the side characters had names that were WAY too similar - Danny, Deke, Derek. It was hard keeping track of who was who at parts. The author also severely overused the phrase "I don't know", I get it was a running joke between the characters due to how Aubrey was introduced but it got annoying seeing it literally every other sentence almost. I feel like the ending was also a bit lackluster and some of the side plots were a bit weird but it wasn't bad!

I loved these characters. All of them... well at least the ones I was suppose to love. I loved watching how she had to discover who she was all over again. I loved how he instantly became her protector and she was number one to him. I also loved how getting caught up in something she wasn't really even involved in changed her life and lead her to her destiny.
Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened next. I also didn't want the book to end, I wasn't ready to leave these characters.

Holy wow! What an amazing read! I was hooked from early on, with action starting on the first few pages. It never left up throughout. Continuously asking yourself questions about what was going to happen or who it could have been. I loved the fact that you have no idea the "who done it" until the last few chapters, everything starts to click. Great storyline, amazing characters (main and secondary alike) absolutely nothing to complain about.

Quite Bad...

The writing was what you’d expect from a teen in her first creative writing class! The conversations were absolutely childish and petulant, so much made no sense, story dragged on. The heroine did nothing but cry, beg the sheriff to stay with her all the time, yet suddenly heads off to where she was imprisoned?? Ugh. Too stupid to live moments abounded in this book. Lost some brain cells reading this.

Needs attention but has a reasonable plot.........

The whole story suffers from poor editing, confusing character names, and poor word choice in many places. Also the sentence structure is frequently very awkward and often just plain wrong. That's too bad because the story line otherwise Is interesting and worth a more professional treatment....
