The first time I saw Lila Cooper, I vowed to make her mine. She was dangerous—those big brown eyes saw far more in me than a biker good with his fists. Far more than I wanted her to see.
But I had to let her go. My screwed-up family destroys everything they touch, and my club sent me to clean up my brother's mess. I couldn't risk Lila getting hurt. So I hurt her instead, the woman who owned my heart.
Now she's determined to forget me. But I'll do anything for a second chance, even reveal the scars on my soul...
Sherilee Gray is a kiwi girl and lives in beautiful New Zealand with her husband and their two children. When she isn't writing sexy contemporary and paranormal romance, searching for her next alpha hero on Pinterest, or fueling her voracious book addiction, she can be found dreaming of far off places with a mug of tea in one hand and a bar of chocolate in the other.
Bad For You is book four in the Rocktown Ink series by Sherilee Gray. Sherilee’s books get me every single time. I don’t think there has ever been a time when I haven’t finished the final page with my heart still wanting more. For the book to NOT be over yet! This is Lila and Jesse’s story.
Lila Cooper is twenty three years old and is the town librarian in Rocktown. Lila escaped a life of condescension, manipulation and constant berating by her parents until she got brave and left. She is still adjusting, trying to build up her self confidence. Lila has had a huge crush on Jesse since the first time she saw him. They spent some time together but then he suddenly ended things. Now Lila has heard that Jesse is going out of town. She has one more chance to let him know how she really feels and she’s going to take it.
Jesse (Grifter) Thomas is the enforcer for the Ramblers MC. The club is Jesse’s family because his own father and brother certainly aren’t. Jesse has had a huge thing for the sweet librarian since they first met. But he knows he can’t bring her into his life. He can never be good enough for her. So, he tries to stay away. Key word here is tries!
Jesse can’t do it. He can’t walk away from her. No woman has ever made him feel this way. But will she give him another chance? Because he’ll do whatever it takes to prove to her that he can be the right man for her.
Jesse has a dark past, a past that isn’t ready to let go of him yet. As he and Lila are trying to explore their feelings for each other, there is someone else who wants things and will do whatever it takes to get them. No matter who he hurts.
I’ve loved this series since the first book and this one was no exception. I loved both Lila and Jesse. I especially loved the way they built each other up. They made each other feel accepted, loved, cherished, like no one had in their own lives. This is a very steamy, sexy, sweet and just plain enjoyable read. I’m not sure what Sherilee is working on next but whatever it is, I’m in!
This book absolutely SIZZLES!!! The chemistry between Lila and Jesse is to the extreme! The fact that Jesse is one dirty talking biker adds to the heat factor. And yet, this isn’t just one smexy scene after another. It's two people falling in love as they wade through everything life has thrown their way.
Lila, sweet, kind and gentle was so much more than what she appeared on the surface. I love a heroine like her to switch things up sometimes and this was the perfect time. I especially appreciated that she didn’t yield to Jesse after he had messed up and she made him work for it.
While Jesse was resistant to forming a relationship with Lila, he also didn’t want her with anyone else. When he finally got his act together to go for her, he was fierce, determined, protective and wildly jealous.
Both of these characters have quite a bit of baggage from their families that affects the way they not only perceive themselves but that colors their relationships. This contributed to the drama with just a little relationship angst added in.
I don’t recall if the beginning of their relationship is covered in another book, but I missed it being included here. I really like to watch the hero trying to woo his heroine and I would have loved to see Jesse do so with Lila as she was pretty innocent and he was so protective of her.
Overall, this book kept me engaged from the first page. With a fast pace, perfect drama, and scenes that left me in a melted puddle, I read this in one sitting. Definitely recommending this one!
Gah!! I legit die for Sherilee Gray's stories. They are ALWAYS sexy, uber-hot and filled to the brim with great banter and a strong emotional connection. I was excited to see we were getting Jesse and Lila's story as their chemistry was so super sexy in Dane and Everly's book. And in Bad For You, Gray hit it right on the head and then some! The good girl librarian and the sexy bad boy biker were FIRE. I loved everything about this story and could not stop reading!
Gah!! This story was phenomenal. It was the perfect combination of dirty and sweet! I loved Lila's sass and attitude when she came into her own and how she gave Jesse as good as she got. She made that man run in circles when he realized she was it for him and I for one was here for it. Their chemistry and passion was HOT! and I loved how great they were together. It was fantastic seeing all of Rocktown's familiar faces and now I can't wait for more! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
Lila and Jesse's book and #4 in the Rocktown Ink series. This was a good entry into this series.I loved the character of Jesse and how head over heels he was into the heroine,Lila. Jesse was the MC club enforcer who once he had eyes on Lila,no other woman would do,but because of who he is and his past relationship with his very violent and abusive father, he broke up with her before it became serious between them.He did not think she could handle what he had to offer. His father and deadbeat abuser brother is also a part of the club, but different chapter. Lila the heroine,I had a hard time liking her.The so called "good girl" librarian had heap loads of issues pertaining to her strict Mom,purity wearing ex boyfriend who she gave her virginity to in a wham bam moment, and tons of insecurity about just about everything about herself. Her attempts at a spine just did not do it for me.She did attempt to date another when she and Jesse were no longer together but that did not work out.I felt more push from her towards the hero than pull. When they did finally make a go of it,the love scenes were a scorcher as only this author can write. I loved Jesse's dirty talkin mouth. What is it about a dirty talker during sex that just reves a girl up!!Throw in an MC riding hot as hell green eyed hunk of a man ,and Boom,Crash,Burn baby! Can you tell I really liked this hero. The heroine ,saddly I never warmed up to her. I won a copy of this ARC via the author's newsletter a few weeks back, thank you. This review in no way was influenced by the win.

This was such a great read! I absolutely loved them both, and I loved the angsty buildup of their relationship. I read it all in one day, and several parts of the book was so great that I reread it over and over again before continuing. It was funny, cute, gripping and hot.
However, it didn’t reach six stars because I would’ve liked to get more of how they first met and their first weeks together. This was described in the previous books, but I felt it could easily been given more focus in this book. Also, the book was a solid six stars until the last few chapters, then it dropped to a five star rating because it at times fell a bit flat (but not much!!).
I strongly recommend it.
Plot: The woman, and the guy, Jesse (griff/riff/grifter) met through a mutual friend and hit it of instantly. Jesse freaks out over his feelings for her and is positive he’s not good enough for her, and ends it. She’s left heartbroken. Few weeks later she learns he’s leaving for some time because of club business, and shows up with the intent of spending time with him and hopefully win him over. She believed he broke things off because she was too inexperienced and plain. He fucks up by being both wasted and high, when he hits on her and then falls asleep in the midst of her giving him a BJ. She’s understandably mortified and humiliated and runs out. He on the other hand decides he can’t stay away any more and sets out to get her back. After months of texting while he’s away, he comes back home and tries to win her back. A few bumps along the way with his abusive dad returning and her family and ex showing up. They get through it together, and she ends up agreeing to be his old lady and a ring.
I really liked this story of Lila, a 'good-girl-with-bad-girl-desires' and tattoo artist/MC 'enforcer' Grifter (Jesse).
This is book 4 in the series; I've read book 1 but not books 2 and 3. Have I missed background about Lila/Jesse by not reading those books? Hard to say. But it didn't stop me from enjoying this one.
Jesse and Lila had tons of chemistry. Tons. Their love scenes were pretty darn hot. Of course Jesse thought he wasn't good enough for (raised as a good girl) Lila, and Lila worried that she wouldn't be able to fit into Jesse's world. Both had issues with their families. Lila's parents basically disowned her for living on her own and being with a man like Jesse. And Jesse had the father from hell, a brute of a man determined to bend Jesse to his will. As these two found out, they were better off cutting their parents out of their lives.
I really like this author's writing style. Things moved fast and with plenty of descriptions and atmosphere. Jesse and Lila were perfect for each other; they connected to each other physically and emotionally. I found it hard to put this one down until I found out if Lila and Jesse had a future together.
I had only one question after finishing it. What became of Jesse's father? Maybe the answer is in the next story in the series?
Bad For You is a smoking hot read. I enjoyed it. Lila and Jesse’s story was well worth the wait. It’s a sweet, sexy, good girl/bad boy and somewhat of a second chance type story. It was awesome and I definitely recommend it.
What a loser of a hero. I just read the sample but that's enough to put me off. The book starts off with the h going to H's house party to talk to him cause she heard he's going away for a while (H had already broken things off with her) and she ends up following his drunk/high ass to his room where he proceeds to try to have sex with her and makes her suck his soft cock and when it doesn't work he pushes her off and knocks out.
The thing was that he was so drunk and high that he didn't even know the girl in his room was the h so it could have been any random chick and that same thing would have happened.
This book is one I was hoping Sherilee would write and to my amazement the next thing I see is an announcement that Jesse and Lila will be getting their own story....*sigh*😁This story is all about the bad boy biker and the good girl Librarian....who wants to be BAD😍
The story itself has everything I’d expect from an MC romance, it has some fighting and violence but it also has a softer side. Suspenseful moments were an absolute must in this story and these had me on the edge of my seat a few times too😱 I loved learning more about Lila and Jesse’s pasts and the ending was PERFECT in my mind❣️
Thank you to Sherilee for my advanced copy for which I willingly leave my honest review🤩
Gray deserves mainstream 'cause this anonymity is a grave transgression against her writing. She hits all the good tropes so well and manages to make it all simultaneously emotional, spicy and UN-PUT-DOWN-ABLE
The moment he first met Lila Cooper he knew she was too good for the likes of him, but that didn't stop him from going after her. She drew him in like a moth to a flame, and there was no denying the attraction they had for one another. But the more he got to know her, the more guilty he felt about dragging her into his dangerous and sometimes chaotic world. So he let her go, but days after he knew he had made a huge mistake, she was impossible to get over.
Now he is dying to have her back, and be the man lucky enough to have all of her time and attention, but she on the other hand wants nothing to do with the likes of him. He broke her heart and she isn't about to give him a second chance to do it again...
Bad for You was an addictive little page-turner, the moment I met these two I didn't want to let them go. They drew me in, began to sneak into my heart, and had me praying they'd find a way to work things out. It was evident these two were perfect for one another, but with Jesse's lifestyle it made it hard for them to make time for one another. Danger was always lurking, his family was stirring up drama, and the MC made their demands of him too. But he was determined to not let Lila go, so he did his best to make it work, and make her feel like she was important to him. I loved watching these two fall for one another, their story tugged on the heartstrings, made me laugh a few times, and had me swooning like a fool the whole way through... it was perfect from beginning to end! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, you won't be disappointed with what you find waiting between the pages for you!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
I couldn't wait for this story to come out and it didn't disappoint! I couldn't put this one down. Jesse is hands down one of my favorites. The story never dulled and kept me interested. Lila was a perfect blend of sweet and tough, most can't pull that off. Sherilee Gray is becoming one of my go to authors.
The story was really good though the characters were really messed up.
Hero would do something stupid, h would get angry, hero would make her understand and the same cycle would repeat again.
Hero would go to his trip on road, h would misunderstand something and think he is with someone else again she would get upset and hero had to make her understand.
h was really insecure here, she would always think the H is going to leave her because she is not experienced even after H had repeatedly told her that's not true.
Except for that everything was okay, just the same plot of h getting upset and H making her understand would repeat every three to four chapters.
What can it be more entertaining than a love story between a badass biker and a nice librarian? The magnetism and emotions, a flawless blend of sweet and tough are just a few things that kept me engaged from the first page till the last! They do say that opposites attract and Sherilee Gray is so good at proving it! 5 big stars!
You know those times when you are reading something you really don't want anyone to know that you are reading, and then your husband comes into the room and, with a guilty look in your eyes, you turn your Kindle towards you so he cannot see what you are reading? Well, Bad For You: A Small Town Romance (Rocktown Ink Book 4) by Sherilee Gray is one of those kinds of books. The secret pleasure kind, where the pages cannot be turned fast enough as you race towards what you know is going to be an explosive ending.
Jessie, the bad boy protagonist in this novel is a respected member of the Ramblers MC, these boys fight hard and party even harder. Lila is trying to avoid her emotionally abusive parents while working in the local library. But when she meets Jessie, she knows that her world will never be the same again. The attraction that these two feel for each other simmers, no steams, throughout this novel, even when apart they cannot stop thinking of each other, and as Lila explores the possibilities of life with a man like Jessie, she is also acutely aware that she does not fit into his world, while Jesse is waiting for the hammer to drop, and for Lila to realise that the two of them should not be together. Both are insecure, both have a terrible past but when they are together everything is forgotten as they give in to the undeniable physical attraction that they have for each other. But, unlike some erotica books that I have read where the characters seemingly never stop for breath as they indulge in each other, this book has a really compelling story alongside.
I thought this novel was amazing. I simply could not put it down. I will certainly be checking out more books by this very talented author.
I was so excited when I heard about this book coming out! I'd thought the last chapter, Meant for You, was the end of the line for the Rocktown Ink crew. I was very glad to learn that I was wrong! And Riff was one of those who I was especially concerned about, so it was great to discover what became of him.
I was somewhat confused at the beginning of the book by all of the different names: Lila, Riff, Jesse, Bambi, Grifter. It was all a bit confusing at first.
Watching the relationship develop between Jesse and Lila, two seemingly very different people from totally different walks of life, but who were just made for each other, was delightful. Especially when it was just the two of them together, they really clicked.
However, as is often the case in such situation, there was an awful lot of outside influence that was very seldom condusive to their relationship. This story contained an awful lot of angst and drama, way more sadness than I prefer in my stories. But it was nice to see the somewhat offsetting support that each of the main characters received from their tribes when they needed it. Luckily, their ending was ultimately a happy one, although it took a long, hard road to get there.
I received a free eBook copy of this title from the author, and have willingly provided an honest review.
This review originally appeared on the So Few Books blog.
I don’t even know where to start with all of the good things that I want to say about this book. The writing was perfect. It pulls you in and makes you feel absolutely all the feels. A definite roller coaster of emotions. It pulls you in and breaks right from the get go and then makes you happy and heated and then turns around and breaks you a few more times, then throws in a little action and ties it all up in a great HEA. You couldn’t ask for more. A can we just talk about Jesse himself. He has quickly gone to the top of my list for favorite book boyfriends. Great book and I can’t wait to read more.
Jesse is the enforcer for an MC and Lila is the town librarian. I didn't read the previous books so may have missed the initial meeting and background info, but I didn't really feel lost. This was more MC-lite to me, which fit the mood I was in. I really liked that Jesse was all in with Lila, even tho he pushed her away (for her safety and "she deserves better") Some OW/OM drama but very slight and our H/h aren't with anyone else during the story (thank you Ms Gray) I enjoyed the book and I'm thinking I'll start the series from the beginning. I would definitely recommend reading about Jesse and Lila.
I love it!!! Thank you Sherilee Gray, you made me love contemporary romance again. Lately I was reading only Sci-fi, and fantasy. Contemporary romance was one of those love and hate relationship for me. The same stories again and again but I love this series and I knew that this book was going to be good. My heart melts for the hero, I just want him!! I can be your girl, he is the mix I like a tough guy with a big heart. If you haven't started this series DO IT you will not be disappointed. 5-can I keep Jesse forever?-stars
I was excited to read this one because I loved Jesse’s sarcasm and banter with Dane. It also helps that he is insanely sexy. Lila and Jesse together is everything… on the outside they may be complete opposites but on the inside the are exactly what they need for eachother. Loved.
It’s a pretty good story. Not a lot happening with the motorcycle club other than his jerk of a dad. Had a little bit of rough neck type stuff and the deal with Jarod just went nowhere so I didn’t really understand that part. However all in all not bad.
Its a good novel, liked all the characters but the plot was a little bit sketchy - and way to much sex.. Would of liked more detail, in regards to the tattoo shop and MC scene... which i found lacking.
I’m going to try and finish because it was free ( I see why) but no way did my fav author write this! The characters are very immature. I’d hope they were 29-25 but appear more like 21-19! I hope I can finish.
She was so lucky when she met Jesse. He gave a family she didn't have. Her mom and dad are toxic. Jesse gave her everything she has wanted. But didn't think was possible. Good story.
This was my fav book so far of this series. It made me laugh and cry and was spicy!! The characters were great and made you fall in love with them!! The storyline was great and kept you hooked from beginning to end!!
