WHAT DID I JUST READ? And why did I love it?
A man, a woman, a killer, a “princess”, and a set up. When all these pieces fall into place, you get a twisted tale that will leave you scratching your head and wondering who is playing what role.
I loved the writing in this book. There is just enough that is alluded to in the story that you will think you have it figured out, but you won’t quite know if Clarissa is crazy enough to write what you think is going on. I am not going to give anything away, so don’t think I have ruined anything for you.
This was a short read for me, but like I said, there is so much going on you won’t know what end is up while reading. Just make sure you have time to ignore your spouse, kids, chores and work. ~ Devlynn, 5 stars

Twisty, twisty, twisty…
I’m beginning to become more comfortable when main characters, usually one or the other, are “bad”. I’ve learned that bad can mean so many things when the spectrum ranges from deepest black to palest grey. A character can be bad while doing good things and other times they can be good while doing bad things. I think this is the first book I’ve read that I would label almost every character, lead or otherwise, as deliciously, jaw-droppingly bad. Fast-paced, this novella is a quick read and if its intent as a prequel is to gather interest in the next novel, mission accomplished!
Vanessa Starr’s supposed husband is dead. Supposed? Oh yes, I caught that too and still wonder exactly what that means. The surprises don’t end there as the story begins and ends with a number of twists and turns along the way. Flitting from various points of view and back and forth in the timeline, I had to be on my toes to keep track of the action and the drama as events just roll, one after the other, to a cliffhanger that is not really a cliffhanger.
Do I like the characters? Well, I’m not sure at this point. What I do know is they are like a car wreck and, like the book cover, I can’t, I won’t, take my eyes off them. So many unanswered questions and given the felonies so far, I can’t wait to find out where this story is headed… ~ Diane, 4 stars

4.5 Cat or Mouse STARS!
A Twisty Little Treat, Killer Characters, and an Unpredictable Plot!
With a title like that, there's no way I could resist. I love my killers. That being said, this one completely blindsided me. HaHa! I have to be honest, I didn't even read the synopsis. I went in totally blind with this one.
"Tonight’s the perfect night to kill. I can feel it in my veins; that undeniable urge that flows through me on nights like these. Exciting like drugs; the murderous kind."
That right there had me drooling. Let's see how demented Phoenix is. He's definitely hot, dangerous, and a killer. What's not to love? He's working his magic on a cheating husband. But the question is why? Was he paid to kill or is there a underlying reason, or both. I love an unpredictable plot, and this one left my mind spinning.
"I knew it wasn’t right. I had it coming for me. And yet, I did it anyway."
Okay, so I was thinking this story was going to play out one way and it totally went out in left field, I wasn't even close. Vanessa the scorned wife, the innocent woman accused of killing her husband, she wants to bring the true killer to justice. But here's the thing, who's guilty? But wait, there's this connection with Vanessa and Phoenix, but there's also a connection with Arthur, Vanessa's brother in law. WOAH. I know, I'm babbling. I can't give any more because I don't spoil. There's these little clues I'm seeing, or it could be the detective in me, I have speculations, but I have no idea if I'm right. EEEK!
Anyway, this one kept me on my toes. It's just a taste of what's to come, I'm guessing Killer is the appetizer, Stalker being the full meal and I can't wait to dive in.

‘Love is just a word thrown around to make us look good, but underneath the surface, it rots.’
Killer is the prequel to Stalker which I am now desperate to read. I have to admit to having mixed feelings about Killer. I loved the dark intensity and the writing was enticing, however I just couldn’t get a handle on it at times. Saying that though - I couldn’t put it down - it was tauntingly well written and I had to know where this story was going.
‘What can I say? I’m the scum of the earth, the disgusting vile that creeps in the corners to jump you at night…and I don’t for a second regret being like this.’
Killer was definitely compulsive reading where one minute I was loving the intriguing dramatic thrill of it only to suddenly feel confused as if I was missing what this story was trying to be and achieve. You know that feeling when something is so twisted full of double crossing but everything just ends up feeling a bit of a muddled tangle with a sudden information overload?!
As it was novella sized and it went from a past/present development to suddenly hitting you across the head with one teasing revelation after the next I didn’t get that important connection with the characters hence I didn’t feel an emotional investment except for dislike until a huge sudden shock when twists unravelled and the story took hold. I guess in some ways it felt like two different reading experiences tied together by a bloody thread.
‘Death has made his entry. It’s done.’
Saying that though, I enjoyed the mystery, the drama, passion and the fucked up arrogant killer, Phoenix. I couldn’t really get a hold on Vanessa at all but maybe that’s the point and Stalker will have the answers and soft emotion Killer was missing.
This story is definitely not rainbows and unicorns; I am none the wiser but this is why I will be picking up Stalker as soon as I finish writing this review because I have a burning urge to find out what the hell is going on… and so on that note I’m off to find the answers….

OMG!! Clarissa Wild is wickedly awesome. She is a master storyteller when it comes to the forbidden darker side of romance. She does not disappoint you in this dark prequel to Stalker. It is a quick fast passed read with shocking turn of events leaves you speechless and craving more..

I am a huge Clarissa Wild fan and I was so excited for this book! And I wasn't disappointed! It had everything I expected. Darkness, twists and a dangerous hero that nearly set my Kindle on fire!
Vanessa Starr has the perfect life. Married to a famous Hollywood director and having a life full of luxuries, it seems like she has it easy. What most people don't know is that her life is a lie. A facade that she has to keep hiding behind. Her husband lies and cheats. Their marriage is empty and based only on one thing; money. She plays the perfect wife but she is anything but.
One mission. One murder. A man who is sent to execute the mission. Phoenix Sullivan is a dangerous man. He kills for money and he has a new target. Vanessa's husband.
What can I say? I’m the scum of the earth, the disgusting vile that creeps in the corners to jump you at night … and I don’t for a second regret being like this.
He is a monster. He doesn't hesitate to take lives. He doesn't feel remorse.

Phoenix doesn't get distracted easily but Vanessa Starr has grasped his attention. He is not able to let her go, but he is not happy about his attraction either. He wants her gone. He just doesn't know how to do it.
When it's his time to fall into Vanessa's trap, secrets are revealed and real identities are unveiled. The past comes back to haunt the two heroes and everything becomes clear. Who is the saint and who is the devil? The lines get blurred in this tale of deception and lies.
One thing is for certain; Phoenix is not going to allow Vanessa to win.
I’ll come for you, Princess. One way or another, I’m going to get you … and when I do, be ready to run hard and fast. Because I know what you’ve done.
I throughly enjoyed this fast-paced book. Mrs. Wild's writing is great. It's a fantastic prequel to Stalker (Stalker will be released later this summer) and not a book for the faint-hearted. It's dark and it doesn't make any excuses. It's no hearts & flowers romance. Both characters are dangerous and vindictive. Vanessa is a very peculiar heroine and I want to know more about her past. Phoenix is sinister and I really want to find out what made him this way.
My only complaint is that near the ending the plot changed direction abruptly and the big twist came out of nowhere. For a moment I wondered if I missed any parts, but no. I hope I get more answers in the next book so I can connect with the heroes better. Cannot wait for Stalker!
Would I recommend it? Hell yes! Lovers of the dark side, read this!

Tengo que confesar que... soy una amante de los romances. Pero...encontré en Clarissa Wild un escape a las clásicas historias de amor, y en serio sus libros son perturbadores no aptos para débiles, juegan con tu mente y créeme disfrutaras mucho de sus lecturas que te hacen tener una fiesta en tu cabeza.
Pero he aquí el meollo de la cuestión, ¿es Killer una historia de amor?
Clarissa, nuevamente ha hecho una historia única dónde, hay más interrogantes que respuestas... Donde te hace odiar de primera mano al marido infiel pero a la vez te preguntas: ¿por qué él era así?
Killer es una pre-cuela de Stalker libro que vengo esperando hace mucho mucho tiempo. Aquí narran obviamente el por qué Phoenix está el cárcel, y por qué Vanessa lo envió allí.
Pienso que es importante leer este libro antes de ir a Stalker ya que de por sí los libros de Clarissa son complicados y juegan con tu mente, así que entre más información tengas a la mano mejor. (seeeh Clarissa, esto es contigo y la saga Delirious).
Vanessa ha sido una de mis protagonistas favoritas, ya que, no es una blandengue y la sinopsis definitivamente no la describe, si bien es una esposa trofeo, llena de lujos y tal pero eso no la hace una débil, inocente o buena persona.
Vanessa es una mujer inteligente que sabe muy bien jugar sus cartas y te mantiene engañada con una careta de "tonta" prácticamente toda la maldita trama.
No voy a decir que Phoenix te hace suspirar desde el primer momento (algo que ocurre desde el primer momento... I mean... el tipo es sexy) y que ya estoy enamorada de él y es mi próximo BBF (algo que totalmente va a ocurrir) pero sabes algo, Phoenix es definitivamente un personaje del cual quiero saber, el cual me tiene enganchada, y es súper intrigante.
Quedó a la espera de la siguiente novela! Definitivamente quiero saber que es lo que va a pasar aquí.
Pero he aquí el meollo de la cuestión, ¿es Killer una historia de amor?
Clarissa, nuevamente ha hecho una historia única dónde, hay más interrogantes que respuestas... Donde te hace odiar de primera mano al marido infiel pero a la vez te preguntas: ¿por qué él era así?
Killer es una pre-cuela de Stalker libro que vengo esperando hace mucho mucho tiempo. Aquí narran obviamente el por qué Phoenix está el cárcel, y por qué Vanessa lo envió allí.

Boy, I’m definitely in the minority with this one. Everyone that read it gave either 4 stars or 5 stars. I just can’t put my finger on why I wasn’t so thrilled with it. There just seemed to be something missing. Now I know that this is only a prequel and it’s a short little ditty, but I was somewhat confused by this set up to the standalone Stalker. With the alternating POV’s and the timelines switching from past to present, I just seemed to be distracted. Maybe I just have to give Stalker the chance to “wow” me.
So, with that being said, the premise to this prequel definitely sounded interesting. It sets up the story of a woman getting framed for her husband’s murder, but said woman turns the tables on the real killer. And, damn is he ever pissed!! She bested him, and he doesn’t like it. And, that’s where this prequel basically leaves off. I’m sure there’s more backstory to their history together, which probably will give me answers to the details I felt were missing. The story has suspense, drama, mystery, and sex that promises to be both steamy and arousing. With one HOT male that is intense and sexy and a beautifully sensual woman, the author portrays these two lead characters as smart and confident. There is no limit as to what these two are capable of the reader will soon find out, and the twists and turns that accompany their story are littered with deception and lies that could spell trouble for either. Looking forward to pursuing where their story next takes me with Stalker...

This was a short quick read that I liked. Vanessa is a trophy wife to a husband that has lied and cheated and now he is dead and she is suspect number 1. Vanessa knows who the killer is and now she has to find him to clear her names. Along the way she finds support in his brother. This was a pretty good read I have read this author before. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I don't know what happened to Clarissa Wild when she went over to the dark side but I can tell you this, she has definitely found her niche genre! Don't get me wrong, her writing style has always been strong but what she has unleashed in her dark books is something simply inspiring. With a writing style that has multiple layers, it soon has you reaching into the dark recesses of your mind as you try to get one step ahead of the story.
I'm still recovering from the Delirious series but I couldn't wait to get my hands on an arc of Killer, the prequel to Stalker. From the first page we're hit with the full force of the characters’ personalities as they fight for dominance over the storyline. Vanessa is married to an unfaithful man, a man who doesn't have any quarms over rubbing his infidelity in her face. What Vanessa didn't see coming though was becoming the prime suspect in his death. In her favour though is a knowledge of who set her up and as we progress through the story we get teased with suspicion and intrigue as we follow the timeframe leading up to her husband's death and the aftermath.
Our resident bad boy comes in the form of Phoenix Sullivan. Tattooed and pierced his is the epitome of danger and that's exactly what he is, especially to Vanessa.
With my piercings, black hair, and merciless attitude, I usually scare people to death. I have the kind of face you’d see in your nightmares … except, when you see me in real life, you’re really dead.
By the ending, we have some answers but more questions as we try to figure out who these characters are and why they react the way they do towards each other. This sets the scene nicely as we wait in anticipation for Stalker.

Vanessa may not be a saint, but she plays right into the vicious hands of a professional. And he uses her in oh so many ways!
It was unsettling and exciting and so much fun. Through scenes that go back and forth in time, we see the death of Vanessa's husband as it unfolds at a party. That's where it all begins from the trap to the sexy part to the savage drama that puts Vanessa in a danger beyond her imaginings.
I liked the way the storyline develops in mysterious tidbits. What I missed though is a satisfying conclusion to that special time Vanessa and Phoenix share in the most intimate terms. It started so well, but left me breathless and with nowhere to go for oxygen.
However, nothing could have prepared me for what came next. It just blew my mind! This cat and mouse game they play turns to be as deadly and exhilarating as I expected from the author, but the plot twists were a huge surprise. Oh, the revenge is of biblical proportions! An eye for an eye, people, and it's shockingly encouraging for the big novel that's coming. Stalker, you can't come soon enough ;o)

I've been reading Clarissa Wild's stories for a couple of years now, going back to The Billionaire and Enflamed stories, but I have to say that she has become one of my favorite authors of dark romance books, and Killer is no exception. I don't like to stay up late at night because sleep is a precious commodity for me, but this story here? Once I started I stayed up till I finished it (and that was at 2:30 am).
This book has everything I've come to expect from a Clarissa Wild dark read: dark and twisty turns, both in the minds of the characters, as well as the story itself; an unexpected romance, or at least the start of one. Both Phoenix and Vanessa are complex people and this book gives you just a tiny bit of insight into them, just enough that you will be anxious for the release of Stalker to see what more you can learn about them and what events shaped them into the characters in this story.
The blurb pretty much tells what this prequel is about, so ain't no point in me rehashing it. Just make sure you heed the warning about this book: it's not a light, happy, unicorns farting glitter romance. It's dark, gritty, raw and I can't wait until Stalker comes out!

This has been hyped as a prequel to Stalker, & since I really enjoy Clarissa Wild's style, it was definitely a "to read" But this short little twister didn't do it for me. Its clever, definitely a teaser, but for me, it didn't create excitement or encourage me to read Stalker!

This isn't the first book that I have read from this author. Being that I have read all of her dark books, I hold her at a higher standard for writing an amazing book filled with mysterious, twisted, sexy characters, and an amazing plot. With the prequel to Stalker in the bag, she hasn't let me down!!
I love how Vanessa starts out, thinking she's nothing more than a trophy wife stuck in a bad marriage. She's also being framed for her dead husbands murder. During the whole book you think no way, this girl couldn't coordinate more then a romp in the sheets. Then bam, find out that couldn't be the same girl?
We have Phoenix, he's a paid killer. Now we have the where and who, but not the why!!! Plus he's now in a place, that's going to drive me nuts til Stalker comes out.
This is another mind £uck, I can't wait to read.

Pero ella sabe la verdadera identidad del asesino,lo vió en esa fiesta,se acostó con él en esa fiesta pero no puede decir nada a nadie o parecerá más culpable.
Con unos giros inesperados sin duda es una lectura muy amena.

God, I can't believe I am giving this such a high rating. I mean this book has so many things I am usually appalled by from infidelity to the h having sex with other partners after they meet their intended. The other enigma for me who is she intended for. This book is revealed much like peeling an onion. It has several, unexpected layers that blew me away. The book has flashbacks and flash forwards that highlight certain events. It adds to the puzzle you are trying to piece together and I am a lover of solving puzzles so I kept trying to solve the mystery and believe me I am still scratching my head. While this is a stand alone you are not done at the end. Oh no there is a lick and a promise of things to come.
Vanessa Starr is the wayward wife who witnesses her husbands long line of affairs, one particular one happens in their bed but instead of her leaving his worthless behind she decides on revenge. Yes, in the middle of a party she approaches a standalone man at the bar and waste no time in leading him in a closet. Pheonix Sullivan is said man and he is a dark, creature and is not there by accident. Once she gains the knowledge her husband is aware of what just took place she still can not leave her mystery man alone. She wants to see him again but his reply to that is, " Taking women is like sipping wine. Only take a sip. Otherwise, they might overpower you."
Her husband dies later that night and so begins the game. Phillip was older than Vanessa and it is clear there is no lover there so I was not so emotionally distraught over the infidelity. I think it bothered me more as to why she didn't just divorce him. What's worse though is his brother Arthur. He clearly has loved her for a long time but neither acted because it didn't feel right. In fact, even now Vanessa still has red flags going off but continues because Arthur makes her feel loved. She hasn't had that but Arthur is too nice if you know what I mean. I am suspicious of him and it does not stop there. The fact is I reached a point where I thought the author wrote herself in a corner and I wasn't sure how she'd make her way out of it. She did but her characters are very shallow. I hope she spends more time giving depth and substance to her characters instead of making them so one dimensional.

It's hard when the villain in the book is also the H. After his speech about sipping wine I mentioned above he gives her poisoned wine and tells her to give it to her husband because it will ease his pain. How can I like a killer? I was rooting for him because there is passion and heat between Vanessa and Pheonix. Arthur was too much of a door mat. I usually root for the nice guy but there needs to be passion too. I didn't feel it with Arthur and Vanessa. I skimmed through their love scene because I didn't care and even though Vanessa and Pheonix was fast and brief it was better because both felt the attraction. I can say that I feel as though I have went against every complaint I've had in the past by finishing this book and what's worse I want more. I feel cheap but that was my experience.
It's twisted and there are warnings about disturbing scenes that should be taken seriously but if you've watched a Stephen King film or any of the Saw flicks you'll be fine. The H has a girlfriend you don't learn of until further in the book and at one point he's transporting her in a large tent like bag. Get the picture? No, you really won't until you read it. Enjoy!

One of the things I’ve really come to love from Clarissa Wild is the complexity of her plotlines. Somehow she succeeds in always keeping me guessing and shocking me with unexpected connections, all while managing to keep me completely engrossed in the story. Despite it’s short length, Killer is a prime example of this skill. This novella is such a great prequel to the full-length novel that will follow. Clarissa introduced the characters, giving us a brief look into their backgrounds, while firmly cementing the complicated relationship between Vanessa and Phoenix. The tension she built between these two positively simmered and I can only imagine how it will boil over with the events that occurred at the end of Killer.
I’m totally intrigued by Phoenix, wondering what makes him tick and why he seems so familiar with Vanessa. He’s an enigma wrapped in a mystery and I’m dying to unravel this complicated man. Vanessa on the other hand settled in my mind as a stereotype, before completely breaking that mold and showing herself to be a bit of a badass. The inexplicable connection between Phoenix and Vanessa gave their encounters an intensity that served to fuel the fire growing between them. The revelation at the end threw me off kilter, making me anxious to read the rest of their story and discover their truth about their connection. Clarissa Wild has certainly managed to hook me with this novella, leaving me more than ready to fully experience Vanessa and Phoenix later!

What did I just read? I don’t even know. I can tell you this is a prequel to the Standalone book to come Stalker.
This book is completely deliciously disturbing. It is not as dark as one of my other favorite authors but its messed up! Vanessa is a trophy wife married to a husband that could give a snot less about her. He sleeps around, she knows it and has even witnessed him with other women in their own bed. In order to not make a scene she creeps quietly down the hall and waits it out. WHAT?!?! Yes. You heard me correctly. After getting some much needed revenge at their high society gathering her husband is murdered. All fingers point toward Vanessa. However she knows who killed her husband and it wasn’t her.
Phoenix is a hired hit man. He gets in and out. Unfortunately if innocent people get in the way they get killed as well. He doesn’t want to hurt them or does he? And oh how Vanessa came to him just at the right time for revenge.
There are so many jaw dropping pages in this story I was yelling “plot twist” every other turn. I could not believe it. What a way to keep the readers on their toes. Holy geez this was good. Im watching for Stalker …. It’s going to be creepy good.

Clarissa Wild is officially getting the title of Quern of dark and twisty reads from me I love her Delirious Series and now I'm looking so forward to Stalker.
Killer is the prequel of Stalker. It's a hotter than sin, edge of your seat, thrill ride you don't want to put down or to ever end. Phillip Star has it alll. Most successful film director in Hollywood, happy devoted husband, dedicated to his wife who he loves with all he's got in him. OR is he married to Vanessa his trophy wife who is now stuck in a bad marriage. You just never really know when your time is going to be over but Phillip is murdered and Vanessa survives the crash. But...Vanessa knows who murdered her husband. She remembers the entire accident and Phoenix the paid killer. Vanessa is not going down for the murder of her husband but is the only suspect.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will be trying to figure it all out with every word you read. Didn't not put it down and certainly didn't want it to end Its HOT, kindle melting hot. Its twist after twisted twist game of cat and mouse Don't miss this novella It's absolutely amazing and I can not wait for Stalker

Vanessa is in a loveless marriage with a man who is constantly cheating on her. He's not a very good man, he has many enemies, and one, Phoenix, has decided to kill him. The killer decides to strike at a party and while watching his target, Vanessa catches his attention (unfortunately for her). Unknowingly, Vanessa hands her husband the glass of champagne containing the poison that kills him. Now she is the prime suspect and the actual killer isn't even on the radar.
Agh! There is so much sexual intensity between Phoenix and Vanessa the first time we see them together, I know Stalker is going to be panty melting. Phoenix is the type that won't let anything get in his way, and Vanessa, well, I don't know anymore! The last 10 or so pages of Killer bring up so many questions... I cannot wait for the next book to be released.

This was really interesting!
I love an unrepentant asshole leading man, and Phoenix gave me that in spades! Think Dexter, with a side of American Psycho and a dash of Panty Melting Andrew
"I look like a guy you wouldn't want your daughter to talk to, even if it was broad daylight in your own fucking home."
I enjoyed Phoenix's POV much more than Vanessa's.. I would have been happy if the entire book was from his perspective.
The sexy times were decent, they were safe (A+) but there are extra marital activities, so steer clear if that ruffles your feathers.
The twist at the end took me by surprise and I am definitely intrigued to see where this series will go.

I really didn't know what to expect while reading this. I definitely wasn't expecting that ending though.
Both of these characters are messed up! I freakin love it!
What the heck did I just read? I mean that in the best possible way. I freakin loved this story. It's left me completely mind fucked and wanting Stalker now.

I first read Clarissa Wild's KILLER as part of a summer anthology...and ladies you better get out your fan and some ice cold drinks because this novella is HOT! Phoenix and Vanessa almost set my kindle on fire =)
"Killer" was a thriller about a womanizing husband who is murdered and the plot thickens as his wife is blamed for it. Did she do it or was she the pawn in a scheme by someone else? This one was sexy, suspenseful and had so many twists (in such a short book) that I wasn't sure who to believe. The end was a surprise and it opens up the door for the next book in Wild's series. A delicious taste of what will be a great revenge book to come.
I love all of this author's work and you will too...can't wait to read STALKER!!

I love Clarissa's books so when the chance came up to review this I jumped at it.
What we have here a a seriously dark prequel read, there are twists and turns, seriously hot sexy scenes.
Vanessa seems to be stuck in a loveless marriage and she stays to provide an image and standing for herself. But is she all that she seems, is she the innocent one in all of this?
Phoenix is a seriously dark alpha male and has no conscience, he does a job and does it well.
It was a quick read but this is only the prequel and it leaves you with questions that you really want answering.
The way Clarissa writes makes you want more and more, you will start a book and not put it down until you have finished.
I cannot wait for the next book.

Did I really just give this book 2 stars? I may wanna go back and change that to a 1.
I had such high hopes for this book. I mean look at that cover! And the blurb!
It failed.
The basis for what could've been a great story was there, it was just killed by the writing. It was very choppy and had no flow. And don't get me started on the sex scenes, or lack thereof. When the attempt was made to include one I felt like I was reading about Kip and Buffy feeding their sexual fantasies by doing it at the country club..... Mmm, yes. Right there, Lovey. That's how I like it.
I couldn't get to the end of this fast enough.

Vanessa finds herself in the middle of disaster and tragedy when her husband is killed and the police finds her as a person of interest. Sure, she didn't fall into pieces over his murder, but she didn't do it.
Though she knows who did..
Phoenix had one mission, to take care of the producer, nothing else.
He didn't count on Vanessa, or her impact on his life..
A prequel to Stalker, with secrets, smut and suspense in a great combo.
Cant wait for the continuation of their story! <3

This thriller is full of twist and turns. If you think you know what's going on you don't. This has me pumped UP and excited to read Stalker !!
