I'm just a girl in love with literature. My love affair with romance novels started with I was 13 and has flourished into an obsession. I've always been a writer. Even when I was a little girl, I always had a pen and a notebook poised to let something out. You Make Me Better is my first project that will be published and I am STOKED. My goal is to write stories surrounding positive black love, with a little humor tossed in.

If ya'll know me then you know that I absolutely love Ashley Nicole. She's one of the my favorite romance authors so I couldn't wait to pick up this second book in the Mason Family series. Unfortunately, while I adored the romance and characters in this one, the ending was wayyyy too abrupt. I swiped to the next page and was surprised to find that the book had ended. Nevertheless, it was hilarious and a pretty good time.

Words with Friends introduces readers to a new member of the Mason family Rod who is a well-known podcaster. He randomly meets Jerzi in an airport terminal while they wait for their bags. The chemistry between the two is instantaneous and they have THE BEST comedic banter that I have seen between two characters. The jokes they shared literally had me laughing until my sides began to hurt. Interestingly, Rod doesn't want to ask Jerzi out until he's randomly met her three times. When they finally meet for the third time, the two share a funny, sexy, and heartwarming romance.

I absolutely adore the way that Ashley Nicole can create chemistry between her characters. The comedic relief is so damn good and honestly the best that I've seen in any romance novel. This book was no different and it was actually cool to see all 30 Mason characters on page at the same time. The development that readers see between Rod and Jerzi was really cute and they really were a perfect match. My main issue with this installment in the series is the ending. I thought it ended a little too abruptly and that the story had potential to be just a little longer. Overall, I was happy to read more about this couple and I'm looking to reading more about the Mason family.

The way I’ve CACKLED for the past two hours at work is UNREAL! AshleyNicole and Ladii Nesha needs to take this act on the road because their level of comedy is INSANE! The rest of the Mason’s have a tough act to follow because I LOVED Jerzi and Rod! Their natural banter and back and forth roast sessions made for a light hearted read! I would’ve loved to have more of them and less of Cheyenne and Travis 🫣! Looking forward to book 3!

The Masons are everything! I am disgustingly in love with this family. Like, I want to be the 31st cousin. AshleyNicole needs to make that happen. Don't tell Cheyenne and Travis but, Jerzi and Rod just bumped them down from the number one spot. They are officially my favorite couple. These two were sooooooooo adorable. Their banter was candid and wickedly funny. I loved how Jerzi and Rod met at the airport then, kept randomly running into each other all over the city. Rod's three time rule was pretty ingenious. If I thought it would work in real life, I'd try it myself. I'm not a fan of podcasts but, I legit want to listen to Mason Minute. For a fake podcast, it was rather entertaining. Words with Friends was comical but, romantic. It gives you all the lighthearted romance feels. I'm looking forward to the next Mason family adventure.

So now we cooking with grease! Rod and Jerzi’s story was everything. I love the back and forth, the witty banter and the humor. I’m still trying to figure out why no one, even the cousins can tell the triplets apart. 🤣 Looks like Rod and Jerzi have taken the number one spot and I can’t wait to see which, if any of the other Masons will knock them from their spot. My only complaint is that I wish the story was longer.

More than friends

We were introduced to Roderick, one of the "only" kids of the Mason clan. He randomly meets Jerzi, and they have an immediate connection but because of his side gig he aspires to have a more genuine connection so he does not pursue her. As fate would have it, they keep running into each other and Rod finally decides to act on their obvious attraction. These two were a hoot, I loved all of the banter, the tit for tat, they seemed like they both had met their match. I'm telling you they had me cackling. Their connection was just so easy going. I loved how free Jerzi was with what she wanted and she gave Rod a run for his money.

It was good to see all the Mason cousins together again. Travis and Cheyenne are still going strong, but I was hoping to see a little more progression for them. I also wanted a strong description for Jerzi, what did he like about her? Aside from her having an athletic body, what was her skintone, how did she wear her hair? Knowing those things would help picture her.

I look forward to meeting all of the Masons.

If Ashley Nicole don’t do nothing else but write romantic comedies, I won’t even be mad. Words with Friends is comedic masterpiece at its finest. No lies told. I couldn’t stop myself from myself laughing while reading this book. The jokes were endless! Rod is letting life happen so when he meets Jerzi in the airport, he doesn’t ask her out. He made his mind up that if he runs into her three times then it’s a sign from the universe that he should make the next move. As you guessed it, the universe wasn’t playing with him. He randomly runs into Jerzi two more times and Jerzi wants to know- Yo, what’s the deal? LOL! Okay Jerzi is definitely likeable. She is about her business and I loved how he stepped to Rod and questioned him about their chemistry and his flirting. My girl! Rod and Jerzi just clicked for me. I LOVED their banter. My goodness they are definitely well matched. I loved how their energy just flowed. It is laidback, cocky and witty. I could just sit and listen to their banter alll day. Lol! I loved that Rod is a podcaster and he is family oriented. I think the best part of this book is the family dynamics. The Masons are a tightly- nit family and I enjoyed every minute reading about them. They are also hilarious. Lol. While I enjoyed the Mason’s as a family, I felt it definitely overshadowed the budding romance of Rod of Jerzi. I would’ve love to see more of Rod and Jerzi’s relationship on the pages, I felt the author focused entirely too much time fleshing out Rod’s family and not the development of his relationship with Jerzi. A balance between the two would’ve been amazing. I still thoroughly enjoyed this hilarious and cute story and will definitely look forward to more from the enormous Mason clan

So Many Laughs!

The story had me hollering and running around my house. Rod and Jerzi had the most dramatic meeting and friendship. The scene at the airport caused me to choke on my own laughter. And the way they kept running into one another was fate. His day job and side job made it possible for them to build a strong bond after the initial attraction. The way Jerzi oogled and talked about his smell and appearance was fun. His big D energy was apparent in his persona. You all...Camel toe Tonsa, I laughed out loud at her negative energy. Jerzi and Rod made the right connection with words and passionate encounters. The Mason clan has lots of hotness in one family. I'm going to bottle a few up and store them for later in my Mason Drawers.... I mean Jars!

✨BOOK REVIEW✨- Words with Friends (Mason Family Series Book 2 - Novella) by Ashley Nicole

I just want to be adopted by the Mason family. Jerzi and Rod going back and forth was freaking hilarious. If you enjoy stories of instant attraction that then goes slow this is it. These two didn’t skip any steps and I loved the ending although the lack of epilogues in this series is killing me.

UNOFFICIAL BOOK SUMMARY🩺🧰🎙️📷
When Rod meets Jerzi the banter starts right away. But these two decide to take it slow. Will they be able to slow down this freight train?

So funny

I love a good story with hilarious family dialogue and Words with Friends did not disappoint. There were so many moments that had me laughing out loud. I also loved the chemistry between Jerzi and Rod and was disappointed when the story ended. I can’t wait to read up on the rest of the cousins. Definitely recommend.

Funny AF

The back and forth banter in this book is hilarious. At this point I can't decide if I want to be a long lost Mason cousin or just a new friend of Taylor. I will definitely be getting acquainted with more of the Mason clan.

Okay so, these books are super cute. I’m really liking the Mason clan, but I need more on the love connection and less family background. Or if there’s going to be so much family history the story needs to be longer. The book ended with Rod and Jerzi just agreeing to date... there needed to be more development with regard to their relationship. Half the book was spent with the family history sessions on the podcast or the family connecting at the kickback... with a sprinkle of Rod and Jerzi. Still cute though, and I’m sure I’ll continue to read about the Mason clan as they drop.

Let’s Set the Mood Right Quick:

Words With Friends: A Mason Family Novella by Ashley Nicole

Drink: Sex On the Floor

Music: Signs of Love Makin’ by Tyrese

Jerzi: If, “got my own,” was a person it would be Jerzi. She was young, driven, intelligent, and beautiful. Sis was the whole package with the degree to match.

Roderick “Rod” Mason: If, “third time is a charm,” was a person it would be Rod. He was truly trying something new and letting the cards fall where they may.

Book two of the Mason Family Saga was funny as hell. Rod and Jerzi were so easy to fall in love with and had us laughing nonstop. Their chemistry was unmatched, and they were just fun to watch interact with each other. This novella was a true joy to read.

They were so cute...

I didn't realize I needed Roderick story until.i read the book. Roderick and Jerzi met at the airport, flirted a little and then walked away. They saw each other again when he towed her car and again, they flirted and walked away. Roderick said if it's meant to be, we will see each other again and law and behold. Roderick and Jerzi was not like any couple that I have every read about. I loved them together. Their flirting and banter was cute and they both knew how they felt about each other. This was a cute story and I loved to see how they became a couple!!!

Good.. wish it was better

I’ve been looking for a different type of urban book. I was really happy to come across the Mason Family stories. I wish there was more writing on the character’s love story instead so much on learning their family history. For example, I thought the pod cast story line was cool but tooo long. Like I was ready to get back to Roderick and jerzi love story but it was ended so quickly. I’ll probably keep reading the stories just fast forward through the extra writing. I like the vibe of her books. They are funny.

Use Your Words

Saucy; I liked this one alot. I was really feeling Roderick 'Rod' vibes. Laid back and funny; just a go with the flow type of guy. I liked Jerzi too. I hope these 2 show up as the series goes on and they progress into a forever type of situation.

That dang Tonsa (what kind of name is that btw 😬) was trashy. Yikes.

I'm loving the Mason Crew more and more with each book. Let me get into the next read. Highly recommend.

Great Family Series

I love this family of Characters. They keep you laughing and peeing, lol. The relationship the Masons' have is one I think every family in the world would love to experience. This is the second book, and Ashley Nicole keeps it real. I would recommend reading this series😂😂, laughter is what we are in need of right now. Ashley you did it, keep writing and we will keep reading.

3.25 stars. This one was okay. I liked that the hero and heroine were able to match others’ energy, and the sexual tension/chemistry between them was good. However, I felt the focus on the Mason family (and there are a ton of them!) interactions—while important—took away from the emotional development of the relationship. I know it’s a novella, but I wish more emotional connection between the hero and heroine was included
