As a huge fan of the first two books in this series I have been eager to read this latest installment - and my love affair with all who work at The Lonely Hearts Bookshop continues greater than ever!! Loved every minute!
The focus of this story is Nina who lives above the bookshop with Verity, and who is a fabulous character! She's grumpy in the morning (aren't we all?!), doesn't like to conform with her looks and attitudes but she still holds on to the romantic dream of finding her 'Heathcliff'! She wants that passionate relationship but the men she's meeting via the HookUpp App are always a disappointment. She's the kind of girl that comes across as confident and happy, but underneath the exterior she's quite down on herself and wonders if she'll ever find what she's looking for.
When the owner of the bookshop brings in a business analyst to oversee how things are going, Nina isn't too keen on Noah and his interfering style! She prefers a bad boy, not a nerd in a suit so doesn't like him watching her in the shop! But the more time they spend together, the more she softens to his ways and she also gets the feeling she knows him from somewhere but just can't place him....... yet!
As she keeps searching for love, she is also keen to take on new roles at work to try and raise the profile of the shop and it is fascinating to see a character using social media in this way! It helps make the story really relevant to the readers and also give an insight into how shops are having to change the way they sell nowadays with online shopping so prevalent.
I find this series and the characters to be so comforting, witty and warm! It's like a hug in book form when you're reading as you're so invested in their wellbeing and how the shop does! I wish there was a bookshop local to me like this one! They'd never get rid of me!!
A fabulous read which I highly recommend! Can't wait for the next installment!!
Nina is looking for the kind of crazy love and passion that Cathy and Heathcliff had in Wuthering Heights but so far she has only found losers and bad boys who are interested in her looks. Noah, a nerdish business analyst with his nose always in his iPad, visits the bookshop where she works but Nina dismisses him as not her type at all. But soon she finds out that not only Noah is sweet and nice but he is also someone from her past, and the more time she spends time with him, the more she likes him.
This is the third book in the Lonely Hearts Bookshop series and, like the previous two novels, it is entertaining and romantic. Once again, the author has created engaging and lovable characters and I liked reading more about the characters from the previous novels. Featuring a bit of family drama, a few secrets, loyal friendships, and new love, this is a sharp, funny, and captivating novel that you won't be able to put down.
Nina and Noah's story has been my favourite story in the series for far. This one had me hocked from the start. They had a brilliant back story and were an enjoyable read throughout.
Nina wants life to be an adventure. She's attracted to bad boys, she treats her appearance as her canvas and she has two beautiful bookish tattoo sleeves that show how passionate she is. She has many rules about dating and meets plenty of different men, but somehow she hasn't been able to find her one true love. Nina works at Happy Ever After, a bookshop specialized in romance. Books are her passion, but the shop is suffering. When it reopened there were plenty of ideas to make it a success. Unfortunately not all of them were implemented and Nina is itching to take over some of the more creative tasks. Will she get that chance?
When Noah walks into Happy Ever After with his tablet to check on the employees and the customers Nina is not amused. Noah wants to help the shop to flourish, but while Nina would like that as well she doesn't like being watched and there's something about Noah that bothers her. When she finds out who he is, she's determined not to let him find out how she knows him. There's an attraction that's hard to resist, but Nina can't tell Noah everything about herself. This is something that can't end well. Will she lose love again before she has properly found it?
Crazy in Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop is a fantastic love story. Nina is fabulous and I liked her style. She wears amazing dresses, she's confident and she can creatively express her knowledge about books. She's a fascinating person and I enjoyed reading every single word about her personality. She has spunk and pizazz in spades. Noah makes her feel uneasy and that's exactly what she needs. It's time for Nina to fall for someone head over heels. However, Nina is keeping something from Noah. I kept hoping she'd find the courage to tell him. He's a wonderfully sweet guy, a main character to fall in love with. He's smart, adventurous and absolutely adorable. They're a perfect couple, but something is standing in their way. Finding out if there would be a solution for this magical duo, made me fly through the pages of their mesmerizing story.
Annie Darling knows how to describe true love. She approaches the subject with a large dosage of humor and plenty of fantastic drama. I enjoyed every single word of Crazy in Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop. Happy Ever After is a delightful setting, the perfect place to fall in love, with both books and gorgeous people. Annie Darling carefully explores each layer of her main characters' personalities and the result is a beautiful complete story filled with riveting dialogue and many captivating moments. Crazy in Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop is another brilliant romantic story by Annie Darling, I highly recommend the amazing Lonely Hearts Bookshop series.
So I read the second in this series of books True love at the lonely hearts bookshop a couple of years back (it was actually one the first blog tours I was ever invited on), so I when I saw this one I thought I’d give it a go.
It took me a while to get round to reading Crazy in love at the lonely hearts bookshop, over a year in fact, just because the inspiration behind it is Wuthering Heights which I’m genuinely not a fan of (I read half way through and gave up) so I had my reservations about this book.
I shouldn’t have been so worried, Crazy in love at the lonely hearts bookshop turned out to be a really heart warming romance.
I loved Nina. She wears vintage fifties clothes with a hair do to match (most the novel her hair was styled like Marilyn Monroe and was pink) and she is covered in tattoos. She thinks love equals passion and will settle for nothing less. It leads her to date a string of unsuitable men and plenty of dodgy dates.
Then she meets Noah with his sensible suits and ties and ginger hair. He likes puzzles and probabilities and doesn’t believe in silly things like fate and destiny. He couldn’t possibly her Heathcliff could he?
Of all the romantic heroes to pick, Nina choose Heathcliff, which as she says in the book is pure toxic masculinity, personally I prefer just calling him a selfish arse. I enjoyed her journey, discovering that you can have passion but it isn’t the be all and end all.
I did feel with all the build up between the characters, the story did drag a little, then the ending was a little rushed but of course that’s just my opinion.
I’d recommend Crazy in Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop to anyone who loves great characters, heart warming romance with a subtle nod to classic novels.
Our heroine Nina is the kind of quirky that’s just code for annoying with an aesthetic. Forced humor is usually why I shy away from chick lit but the author adds this hint of endearing vulnerability to Nina that made me want to keep reading. She’s such a mess, has absolutely no insight, that I wanted to be there for her light bulb moment.
Noah on the other-hand is a quintessential “beta male” of contemporary romance. I love him.
Its not groundbreaking but I like that Nina is like a particularly exasperating friend. Curl up with it during a rain storm with a hot cuppa just to add to the ambience.
To start with I didn't really know what to make of this book, despite it being 3 so called friends who were working together, all along it came across like they didn't really like each other as they were constantly cross and snappy at each other! The romance element ticked all the boxes, I am happy to say and I was sad to finish the book.
Nina works in a bookshop, Happy Ever After with Posy her boss and is hooked on bad boys as we find out early on as she tries dating through Tinder style app HookUpp.
One day the geekiest boy from her school, Noah, walks by her shop, only now he's become a professional in a suit and is a business analyst helping in the shop!
The crowd who work at the book shop all regularly hang out at the pub together called The Midnight Bell and are a very sociable group going out together as well as finding dates in Nina's case too while there. After taking part in a quiz night, Nina recalls Noah as Know It All Noah she went to school with and he's the boy whom her brother used to bully!
As the pair spend more time together as they work and relax together, they start becoming a sort of couple and when Noah whisks Nina away for a spontaneous break, it shows how thoughtful he's been towards her until their relationship suddenly spirals after Noah discovers something out after seeing Nina's phone...
Nina is a bubbly, lively woman and an easily likable character, she's an average sized lady with a healthy appetite as it often gets mentioned and it's nice to have a rounded view of a character as a normal but edged with a party side sort of personality! She's been hurt and makes it clear she's more into casual dates as they often turn out awful and ending abysmally so it was nice to see a good guy could sweep her off her feet, even if more drama ensued due that fact!
A fun read with plenty of gossip and dating stories for single girls to relate to!
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

This book didn't make me feel a thing, except for mild annoyance.
It's the last third of the story that sealed the 1-star-rating for me. The conflict is so minor that the resulting drama felt extremely forced and over the top. The same goes for the making up and the "happy ever after" moment.
Btw, what's the name of the cover artist who chose to depict the heroine (she wears a size 14-16 and loves her body - something I actually liked!) as a slim-waisted, skinny-legged woman with a bit of a bum? I just wanna talk.
I wanted to like this book. It had all the elements that should have made me swoon - Wuthering Heights, London, romance. But it was whiny and repetitive and kept emphasizing the main character’s guilt over and over. So much tell and not enough show. I’m a completionist so I had to finish it, but I’m not sure I would recommend it to others.
I'm so in love for this series! This is Nina's book, and you, random review reader don't have to read the first two books to enjoy this story. I love how easy to relate these characters are, they are down to earth, you can relate them with people you know or even yourself and it makes way easier to connect with the characters.
I loved Nina's style since the first book, and her story is just amazing as the character, she is crazy about Wuthering Heights which graciously is referenced many time thru the book - Noah was love at first sight for me, he is mature, smart, easy to like and oh my god this story was so sweet! Their connection is amazing
I loved this book, is sweet, fun, full of book references, and I'm gonna repeat one more time - Annie Darling writing style is everything, her sense of humor always hook me
I absolutely adore Annie Darling's books and I've already fallen in love with all her characters. "Crazy in Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop" is the newest addition to The Lonely Heart Bookshop series and yes, you can read it as a stand - alone, but I'd really heartily recommend to read the two previous books in the series as well - they're just too brilliant to be missed.
This book, after Posy and Verity, focuses on Nina - the big - mouthed Nina, tattooed Nina, Nina with a penchant for vintage clothes and dating. And cakes. Being almost thirty, Nina is looking for her own Heathcliff and she's picked many unsuitable men, and she starts to question herself, her lifestyle and choices. At the same time, things at the bookshop are not so rosy, so Posy decides to bring Sebastian's friend Noah to look at the business practices. Noah is a total opposite of Nina and he plays on her nerves with his iPad, making notes on every single person working at the shop. And Noah doesn't know it, but they used to know each other in the past, however it wasn't the best past. Does the opposites attract? Is the truth ever going to come to light?
Guys, guys, guys. What a brilliant read was it again! It was such a joy to connect with all the characters that I've already fallen in love with and to see what's going on in their lives. After making sure that Posy and Verity's love lives are absolutely all right, this time Nina is our problem child. This time the girls doesn't have to set Nina up on dates or sign her to dating sites because Nina absolutely has everything well in hand. However, mostly the guys are the wrong ones. I loved the way Nina didn't treat herself too seriously She was fierce, she was quirky but she also had this more vulnerable side to her and she had conscience. She was believable and relatable in the way she acted and reacted, she had her ups and downs, she was sometimes rude but that was Nina all the way - she was honest and there was not beating around the bush with her, which I really, really loved - made a difference to so many meh characters in the women's literature. Noah... Well, Noah. Brilliant male characters just pours out of Annie Darling's pen, and they are so different and each of them is in their own league. Noah was the best geek I could have ever imagine and I loved him. So there. I loved how he was around people, how he brought the Tupperware doses with vegan food home with resignation , and how, when he fell in love, then he fell with his whole body, head, feelings and emotions. I could so understand his pain, and I could see he felt betrayed but I wanted to shake him so much because he and Nina, though on the surface so different, were like match made in heaven, and I SO wanted for those two to stay together. Did they? Or was the hurt too big? The characters in this story were great, just great. They grew on me immediately. I loved to see all the characters from the previous books, even if it was only for a moment or two, but them being there made me smile at remembering what kind of antics they got themselves into. They were all so brilliantly described, with tons of feeling and understanding from the author, she truly got into their heads and created the warmest fictional characters in the world. It is impossible not to like those people. The dynamics between them was also brilliantly captured, I loved all the banter and bitching and the fact that when one them needed help they could count on each other, on their support. It was all so effortlessly and realistically captured and the friendships and relationships just seemed so genuine. They complemented each other in great ways, no matter if they were main or background characters.
There was maybe not so much of the bookshop itself in this story, and so many tote bags, though Posy didn't disappoint in that respect - no, I take this back, there was enough of the bookshop. Of stacking the shelves and customers drooling after Tom. The plot was easy but there were enough ups and downs to keep me glued to the pages, some disastrous dates and family birthdays. The humour was one of the best and I adored the jokes and the irony, it was just my kind of humour and I just wanted to beg for more.
It is so that any book can come close to the first book in the series, "The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts" but the next two are of course brilliantly warm, uplifting, funny reads and I love them all with all my heart. This novel was utterly romantic, full of friendship and acceptance, showing that looking different doesn't mean you're worse, that you should stay true to yourself and be proud of yourself, no matter what size you are and how many tattoos there are on your body, or if you have specs and a wonderful high school diploma - just be proud of yourself and believe in you, and I loved this message. It was hilariously funny and also there were moments it was very poignant, and the way the author balanced those feeling was great. Altogether, it was - again! - an uplifting, optimistic story touching upon some serious issues and dealing with them in a great way. The characters were - again! - brilliant and very well outlined and I can't have enough of them. My heart went to them all and all I want is to see them happy. It is full of warmth and it just felt like a group hug - wonderful, unputdownable read, another cracker in the Lonely Hearts Bookshop series. Highly recommended! And guys, what's more important, there is another Lonely Hearts Bookshop book to come! I am only wondering - is it going to be about Tom? There was a little more about him and his thesis in the book, so maybe?

Undoubtedly my favourite romantic series of all time. Annie Darling can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned, and this third book is as equally brilliant, funny and swoonworthy as the rest of them. The ultimate feel-good, swoon-lots, sob-buckets-of-happy-tears-at-the-end book.
So this is book three of a four part series which are based around a lovely little bookshop, what’s not to love about that. Author Annie Darling is new to me but this four part series has been on my to be read pile for quite some time, really glad to finally round to this series.
So book three is Nina’s story, who we met and got to know a fair bit in the previous two books. I think this has been my favourite book of the series so far, I really like the character of Nina, she’s feisty, takes pride in what she wears and stands up for what she believes. I couldn’t be doing with all that make up that she wears or her tattoos though, although I do love the sound of the Alice in Wonderland tattoo.
Anyway getting off topic there, this book three was enjoyable, highly entertaining and full of non stop drama. As for the main male character of Noel in this story, he was really likeable, sounded like just my sort of man, not afraid to show his feelings, talented, clever and above all a true gentleman.
I loved the chemistry and interaction between Nina and Noel even if Nina was in denial about it to begin with, so glad she soon came to her senses though.
Also loved being reacquainted with all the previous characters from books one and two, nice to see what they’ve been getting up to and that the bookshop is still doing fabulously well.
I well book four is next, which will bring the series to an end as it is the final book.
*SBTB Quarterly Challenge - April 1. Easter: Read a book with a pastel cover.* *Dreamy sigh* 4.5 stars. I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this one, since the last two books featured heroes with major flaws they never really overcame (first was a total twat, second douchebag claimed to be for 90% of the book). But the hero of this book is a Business Analyst! I work in IT consulting, including doing business analysis. Now business analysis isn't a sexy career; you won't find any sexy BAs in a line-up with sexy firemen and sexy cops at the Magic Mike review. So I had to see what this hero would be like. Plus he's a freckled ginger, so yes please and thank you. And this time the hero was amazing. So thoughtful and sweet. Verging on too perfect, actually. I would have liked him to have a bit more of an arc. Nina was a very fun heroine. Not overly angsty, but with realistic problems. She thinks she knows what she wants, but Noah really is her perfect match. This was a lot of fun and very sweet. It could definitely be read as a standalone so you can avoid the twat and the douchebag.
Cringe worthy story. I don't usually go for books like this, but I was having some problems concentrating and I just needed some light right, chick flick so to say. Well... it's bad. The plot is so generic and predictable, you can tell after first 30 pages how the story is going to go. I could give it 2 stars, just because I promised myself that I am going to be open minded, since I knew what I was getting myself into before I started reading it... but the end was just too too awful. Spoiler alert: so the main character lied to the man she fell for completly unexpectedly (yeah... completly) and he got mad and broke things off with her. Then he realized that he over reacted and reached out and suggested starting over... And she said no... Cuz she was the brave one.. And she moved 2 steps towards him and said 'no, lets continue where we left off'. Cringe. So yes, this was a really bad purchase for me.
