Rate this book
Do you have what it takes to survive an EMP winter?

Six months have passed since a devastating EMP struck the nation, forcing survivors to adapt to a dangerous new world without power.

Now, winter is here. Jack and his companions are surviving at a caravan site in the wilderness. The weather is treacherous. Supplies are dwindling. Hope is running thin.

But when Jack witnesses a group of helicopters passing over, sparking hopes of salvation, the group must go on a journey to seek out shelter once and for all.

But Jack's group isn't the only one seeking shelter. And some groups are willing to go to horrifying extremes to get what they want. Will Jack and his people survive the threat on the road? Or will their final journey prove one too far?

Powerless Winter is the fifth book in the Surviving the EMP post apocalyptic series. If you enjoy stories of ordinary people thrown into devastating new circumstances, you'll love Surviving the EMP.

This one was pretty good, but the storyline is starting to feel repetitive - group with a messed up leader wanting to murder everyone. Didn't feel much different from the rest. I did find the twist with Hazel's husband interesting, but unrealistic-- what are the chances they ran into him... literally .00001%.

But really I did still enjoy the story and really appreciate this series. Wish #6 had an audiobook, I personally very rarely read ebooks.

I love dystopian novels. Sometimes I am disappointed. This series is really good, I am sorry I have to wait until the last one. Already ordered it.

It kicked off strong and full of energy! I'm really enjoying the winter backdrop. Here we go again with another villain. It reminds me of The Walking Dead, just minus the zombies! I'm loving the new characters that are being introduced. It's great to see the development of the original ones too. It's heartbreaking to see the OGs passing away. The way characters are meeting their end is pretty intense, but I find it still in good taste. I appreciate how we encounter new faces along the journey. However, it can feel a bit repetitive since we know the bad guy will always be after Jack's loved ones. Here we are at the final part of this series! Unfortunately, this is not in audio format. I'll need to read it instead, so it might take me a little while to get through it. SLOW READER HERE!! lol

Better than books 3 and 4. Is there a book 6 though? It seems to have tried setting that up.

For real, I wanted them all to die. Plus I am gaining no useful survival ideas.

Good

The winter has taken a toll on Jack and his group of survivors but during Jack’s hunting, he hears a small group talking about a safe zone. Before they get a chance to to head in that direction, they are attacked by another savage group and have to take off.
