As prophesised by Padmasambhava, His Holiness, the 69th Je Khenpo of Bhutan, Gendun Rinchen was born in a cave at Paro Taktshang in 1926. A well-known Buddhist figure of the 20th century had exceptionally outclassed in teaching, debating, and writing.
He was one greatest practitioner who had empirically mastered the entire thirteen auxiliary sciences within a very short period of five years. He is the representation of the three great masters of the past: physically - Serkong Tsheltrum Doendon, internally - Sonam Gyalpo Lerab Lingpa, and secretly - Marpa - the great translator.
The life and achievements of HH Je Gedun is awe inspiring! I felt goosebumps on my skin and strong devotion towards HH.
Maybe because I started to read the book right after the 63rd Rising Day of Tibet on March 10th, the response from HH’s root guru, Rahor Choda on HH’s request to travel with him to Bhutan to in 1956 during the uprising of Chinese militants in Tibet to travel along to Bhutan was extremely painful to me.
He said ‘I have decided not to dispose my aged body to the unknown terrain. Wherever I go, I would be just taking this old body which is at the verge of its last breathe. Thus, I want to die in my native land……….’
The biography is well written, with pictures and also well translated. However there are slight errors that can be corrected in the next edition.
