Cubs for Rent #3

Always Loyal

Rate this book

Every day Loyal watches him. The desire gets bigger with each passing moment. It’s only a matter of time before it explodes.

After an accident left Loyal in a wheelchair, he’s spent his days fighting to regain the freedom he’s lost. As much as he needs help, Loyal doesn’t want to be pitied. When a blast from the past volunteers his time to make Loyal’s home wheelchair friendly, Loyal has every intention of staying out of Toby’s way. He knows Toby could never forgive him for the past. Loyal never intends to fall back into the same role he played with Toby for years. Life doesn’t care about Loyal’s good intentions.

Toby has known Loyal most of his adult life. For a long time, he considered Loyal his best friend. There’s no way he’ll turn his back when Loyal needs him most, even if every second in Loyal’s company completely breaks him. Unfortunately, the more time Toby spends with Loyal, the more he can’t escape the truth. Loyal will always be the only one for Toby.

As one owner of Cubs for Rent—a business that rents men for dates, home repairs, or simply to keep someone company, Toby has countless men vying for his attention. Loyal is the only one he can’t shake. They’ll have to face the past and all its secrets if they hope to find their way. Tall order doesn’t even begin to describe that endeavor.

The story is emotionally dark for no other reason that it deals with all the after effects of a failed attempted suicide. Important mental health issues were talked about, internal guilt for being gay, not being good enough to love. A very strong emotion packed short story like the type Charity Parkerson is a master at.

Yes back on track 😁

Toby and Loyal was an intriguing story, took awhile to understand why Loyal did the things he done, then things started to make sense. You got more of an insight into Tanner, Tucker and Toby’s dad and what happened. Tanner and Henry was in this one more and Orion was back to being not a people person and quiet. The side charters in these stories are awesome. But really love this story, glad Toby got his happy ever after.

This series is like crack for me. I can't stop reading it even when sometimes I want to shake someone. There is SO much "I love him but he can do better" or "I love him but no way can he love me back". Once everyone gets their heads out of their butts there is a LOT of I love you. This is true for the whole series so far (I'm on #5) . And yet I can't not read it.

A great read

This book was amazing. If you want heartfelt then this book is it. I laughed, cried and got frustrated. Loyal is his own worst enemy and Toby hates himself. I loved how the story unfolds with passion and desire. A great read.

How can you not love this story

Seriously, make sure you have tissues on hand while reading this one! Soo many feels, happy sad, giggles, frustration, just everything and so perfectly written! Charity NEVER disappoints me with her stories and makes me crave more more more! Each one is so different then the other yet written in a “same” comfort type way! The fact this one has such real, touchy subjects that so many people face everyday but shows that if your lucky enough for a second chance not to take it for granted even though you may want to keep thinking all the negative thoughts once again there is a light at the end of the tunnel if you step out of that comfort zone and fight for it!

“I just fucking love you…. I was a fucked-up mess before you. Maybe I still am a little bit of a mess, but you saved me. You always do, and I’d be failing you if I didn’t stop for a second and say that you deserve someone better than me.”

Cubs for Rent is a company that specializes in rental of men for dates (but no sex for money), household repairs or simply companionship. Toby Kodiak is one of the three brothers (triplets) that is co-owner and manager of the date for hire service. Toby has been in love with his best friend for years, but when an evening of confessions and lovemaking find him waking alone with no word why, Toby realizes that he may never have his feelings truly returned.

Loyal loves Toby like no other, but fear has him bolting across the world, and when he realizes that he cannot run away from his feelings, Loyal returns…only to once again find himself so afraid of expressing his true feelings that his actions find him battered, broken and bound to a life in a wheelchair…but not alone, for he has a guardian angel in Toby, who will love and care for him till the end of time.

Toby and Loyal are two lost and somewhat confused souls that are running from what could be absolute bliss…if only they would communicate and be willing to take a leap of faith.

Charity Parkerson’s Cubs for Rent series is quickly becoming one of my favs! Highly recommend and can’t wait for the next installment!

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

I basically read this series like crack apparently.

It's drama heavy. Toby fell in love with Loyal, but Loyal was straight and in a relationship. Then one night the truth comes out and Loyal left without a word. Toby chalked it up to finally having told him his darkest secret, but Loyal had other reasons. Fast forward and the next time Toby hears from Loyal, he's been in a car wreck that leaves him in a wheelchair. Toby drops everything to care for Loyal, he can't help but throw his heart into trying to make things right and hopefully get another shot to prove to Loyal how much he cares for him.

It's also got a lot of internal angst with no one believing the other could love them or that they deserve the other. Which personally, I like in small doses. Hence this series being crack. Can't wait for the next one!

I LOVED this book!!! Loyal and Toby’s history was heart-wrenching and their journey to happily ever after was full of ups and downs, I’m talking you’ll feel all the emotions. It always amazes me how so much story is in these shorter books and that it absolutely WORKS! I never feel like I’m missing anything and I’m constantly blown away by how each one is my favorite. I just love everything Charity writes. :)

Very Good Read

Again another incredible read. I dropped it down from 5 stars to 4 only because I would have loved to hear more details of what the three brothers went through growing up. You get little snips here and there but never the whole story.

Aside from this, it was still incredible. I love the connection between all the characters and the passion was off the charts.

Amazing as Usual

This one was a bit heart wrenching but I loved it all. The introduction of Kevin and Loyal father was so cool and I can't wait for their book.
