Honestly I stumbled onto this at random, and I'm so glad I did. It's a short book but I loved it, could NOT let go until I had read it all. The art work is very creepy and the stories unnerving, on to the next one!
A collection of six generic horror stories where everyman protagonists encounter familiar spirits. The art only shines in certain closeups, where Takaminato renders the faces of ghosts as strange smears, swirls, and scrawls.
I love how the first story and the last story are connected. The drawing are creepy. "The Red Devil" might be my favourite. Although it's not as bizaare as others, it shows friendship.
Another contender in Horror! Kuro Ihon is compiled of 8 short stories, some of them connected to each other. There are some indication that the stories is based on real-life happenings.....or it isn’t?
I really like how the author create those freakish faces and inhuman gestures in contrast to the normal people around it. Or at first glance, they could be normal people. But change the lines a bit and you could see a malice spirit seeping from the pores.
Short collection of bizarre and horror stories from different prefectures in Japan. The screaming faces in some of the stories are really creepy, now and then when I happen to be in one prefecture mentioned in the stories it gives me the chills.
