This is the sequel to XY,Z and continues the story of teenage lovers Alex and Zoe. Zoe has given up her planned university to follow Alex to London. In SE6 we find out if it was worth it. The author writes with the voice of real-life – not sugar coating or glamorising love and sex in any way. Yes, it’s frightening and unpredictable, and life can and does turn on a tuppence – not always for the better – and it’s this raw, “warts and all” style of writing that makes these books so relatable.
The teenage world the author portrays is far different from the one I experienced, although as the mother of a teenager myself, it is a world I recognise. These young people are also as far removed from the beautiful, wealthy, sophisticated teenagers found in your typical American Netflix series – these kids are real. They struggle with their genders and identity, relationships are new and scary, money is a permanent struggle, and they are caught in the in-between world of wanting to pull away from parental control, but still needing the safety net family can supply.
A book about teenage sex may cause some eyebrows to raise, but teenagers do have sex, and anyone who thinks they don’t is hopelessly naïve. The author doesn’t hold back on the sex scenes but focuses on consent, mutual respect, birth control, and care for one’s partner – which is a change from the rather worrying current trend of the alpha male bullying the naïve and innocent girl into bed. A trope I find distasteful and disturbing for the message it is sending to young people.
SE6 is a thoughtfully written book dealing with many of the issues that confront today’s teenagers in a compassionate, sensible, and relatable manner.

I've had XY,Z and the follow on, SE6, on my kindle for a while now because I've read the author's other books and I thoroughly enjoyed them. (Jess Molyneux is not the author's real name btw but I won't out her!).
I kept putting off reading them though because I had it in my head that they were children's books. I know that they get a lot of hype because they're explicit novels written for teenagers but - just to be clear - it wasn't the fact that they were graphic that kept putting me off, it was the fact that they were written for teenagers.
All I can say is that I was a fool to avoid reading them for as long as I did!
I adored the story of Zoe and Alex. I liked the fact that Zoe certainly sees herself as being a normal teenager. She has normal (from what I can remember anyway!) anxieties and constantly worries that she's being left on the shelf (at 17! Bless her!). I seem to remember thinking that when I was her age too! And Alex is a sweet young man, who's truly besotted with Zoe.
What's really great about this set of books (I've copied the same review across both books) is that it tells the tale of normal love from a teenagers point of view. I'll certainly be recommending it to my niece when she's a little older (she's only a toddler at the minute) because it's full of positive messages.
In the first book, XY,Z, Zoe and Alex are still at school, doing their A-Levels. We see the couple fall in love with each other and learn how to treat each other with respect. We get to see that when Zoe says 'no' its okay and that sometimes other things and other people must be prioritised. Zoe in particular studies hard and goes on to do well in her exams. We also see Alex standing up for what is right and for what he believes in. These are all things that I want the next generation to learn.
In the second book, SE6, Zoe and Alex have moved to London. The couple must learn to transition into the adult world where sometimes life is about doing the laundry and emptying the bins. But that doesn't mean it can't be full of love.
Yes, these books are explicit. But they're not out and out erotica. And they're full of the author's trademark wit. I'm glad to have finally read them.

This is a heart warming sequel about the blossoming relationship between Alex and Zoe. As they navigate their way through the dating rules, they gain insight into what trust looks like. A feel good story left open for more - very clever!

Having already enjoyed the well written first story X,Y,Z about the young couple Alex and Zoe. I was keen to read the sequel SE6. Like the first story, the book has you hooked right from the start. I found myself picking it up at every opportunity I was so intrigued to find out what was going to happen next. -such is the skill of this author. Beware- other things you need to do, might not get done!

Read XY,Z then read SE6 … they are both fabulous.
I read XY,Z immediately before SE6 and loved it, so I had to continue… I wanted to see how the story of Zoe and Alex continued. I wasn’t disappointed. SE6 is just as relatable, just as witty, just as fabulous. XY,Z and SE6 are two of the most enjoyable books I have read in a long time.

I devoured this book straight after XYZ. I loved Alex and Zoe, they were such relatable characters. I felt as though I grew with the characters; watched them transform from teenagers to adults who had to face the harshness of obstacles in love. This book was a beautiful sequel to XYZ and I'm so happy in got to meet Alex and Zoe, they were a delight to read about.

Alex and Zoe have completely stolen my heart. I love this couple so much and could read about them until the end of time. This book definitely has more suspense in it and my heart was racing to keep up. It was also broken and mended. Love this series so much! I haven't been so invested in a book in a long time.

Young love is so wonderful… until it’s not. Jess Molyneux continues the tale of Alex and Zoe in SE6, her sequel to X Y, Z. Growing pains happen in all relationships, and theirs is no different - each struggling to keep their footing as the road gets rocky. Full of ups and downs, it was an engaging addition to the series.

Really enjoyed this! Loved XYZ but SE6 is actually even better! Characters remain relateable and hilarious, it's really good fun and enjoyable, and not just for young adults and teens!
Definitely have a read of these books because they are well worth it!

I loved X Y, Z and SE6 is a great sequel.
Whereas book 1 looks at first time experience and young love, this book follows that through to what happens after that.
I adore Alex and Zoe. Such a sweet couple. But all is not plain sailing. Their relationship comes up against some scary challenges in this book. Can they weather the storm? It's set in London - no idea why boats came into this review!?
Alex is a rising star, but that comes with its own problems, especially when he's well fit.
Anyway, this is a fab book and if you want a young love story you should definitely give both of these a go.

After readers contacted me to tell me how much they loved Zoe and Alex's story in 'X Y, Z' and wondered what happened to them afterwards, 'SE6' picks up the action just over a year later and follows Zoe to university... but where's Alex? Will their relationship survive new people, new places and a fateful night out?
