An absolutely enthralling adventure with Gabriel as he is on enforced vacation from his job, taking a quick job for a person he owes and trying to find out anything he can about a baby he remembers in his family when he was very young!! Another masterfully written story by the wonderful author Andy Maslen!! You feel you are alongside Gabriel and the emotions are within yourself from answers he finds and the feelings they cause! What starts as a 'favor' for a triad king turns quickly into a deadly situation as Gabriel is dropped in China to remove a 'crazy', killing leader...Only when the mission is done, the helicopter returns to pick him up,but as he watches from town, his belongings are blown away by his 'rescuers'..presuming he was in the vehicle and is a goner... Never trust criminals, now Gabriel must find his way home and fulfill his need to make those people pay for their double cross!! A fabulous read and continued adventure as he finds out about the baby in his memory...Will he actually find he Does have family alive?!
Started the year with Three Kingdoms by Andy Maslen, it's another great book featuring Gabriel Wolfe. He is back in Hong Kong on suspension and trying to find out what happened to his lost sibling. While doing this he stumbles into some really bad stuff. I actually like this series very much but due to lack of time I seem to never catch up. I can recommend this author and this series.
Another awesome Gabriel Wolfe masterpiece ! After being told to stand down and take some time off Gabriel winds up getting involved with a Chinese Triad leader by doing a favor for him. What starts out as a simple mission soon turns deadly for Gabriel. At the same time he is trying to find out what happened to his baby sister who was kidnapped when was only four. As usual the cast of characters, non stop action and terrific story line make this a hard one to put down once you start it. Highly recommend it !
Gabriel Wolfe is at his finest in this highly recommended thriller. Contains an excellent storyline with intense non-stop action and a great cast of characters. A book that is hard to put down. Both the book and series should not be missed.
excellent as usual a must read if you like well written and true hero totally fast paced don’t start if you’ve got to go anywhere a book to red again and again xx well done yet again Andy
One of the best books I've read in a long while the action is none stop from Hongkong to London and back as Gabriel searches for the sister he never knew he had.
A good thriller that has Wolf while on leave following an investigation into his actions and conduct after a mission resting in his house in Hong Kong. While carrying out a contract as payment for previous help for a Triad boss he is double crossed and believed to be dead in the background’s of China. On eventual return to Hong Kong he seeks revenge and kills the man responsible for the double cross and gets a lead in the search for his sister kidnapped as a baby when he was two.
The search for a sibling . . . First, Gabriel finds out he had a brother, who died (he thinks he killed him) as a 5 year old; then he finds out there was a third sibling, kidnapped at 5 months old. A brother? A sister? What happened? Could s/he still be alive? This, too, is another Andy Maslen mind-bender ! GREAT read!!!
I’m all over the place reading the Gabriel Woolf thrillers. I started with the first in the series, I think but have leapt too and fro the subsequent titles. However, that hasn’t detracted from the reading experience. This book, Three Kingdoms has been a great reading experience. Full of intrigue and action.
After a lifetime of missing memories will he finally be able to put one to rest. You’ll have to read it to find out. I found this one much different as we experience changes in scenery while still serving justice for those in need. From Hong Kong to the far, far east, back to Hong Kong, and England. Gabriel searches for answers. Great story.
To date this was my favourite of the Wolfe series. It moved around a !it and at times seemed to be unconnected. However in typical fashion it took you down an interesting path and concluded in a manner you should have seem coming. Good read!
Once again, loved this book. There wasn’t anything about it I didn’t like. I would recommend the Gabriel Wolfe series to everyone. It is fast paced and holds no punches. Brilliant.
Great read as ever Andy keeps you reading as the story goes on! You want to Get the next chapter read and find out what happens. Love all his books that I have read.
After going rogue to settle old scores in Torpedo, the last book in this series, agent Gabriel Wolfe is on six weeks mandatory leave. But the events in settling those scores have fundamentally changed him. After years of being haunted by personal loss and PTSD, Gabriel has finally accepted the person those emotional pains have made him. He is ready to start a new chapter in his life. He has decided to use this leave to begin anew by returning to his childhood home of Hong Kong and search for the lost sibling he never knew.
To help him in his search, he asks for assistance from Fang Jian, leader of the White Koi triad and an old friend of his mentor, Master Zhou. In return, Fang requests a favor for a friend high up in the Chinese military. Gabriel accepts the job, which is to travel to the isolated steppes in western China and take out a commander of a military outpost who is on a demented Killing spree. Of course, nothing is as simple as it appears to be and Gabriel encounters hardships and betrayal. And an unlikely kinship with the indigenous people of this barren land.
Together with Torpedo, Gabriel completes what Carl Jung described as “the dark night of the soul.” He is a changed man. Once somewhat of a loner, he is now learning to open himself up to new people and include himself in the little joys of their lives. And the thrilling ending puts the past to rest and hints at a very interesting future. Bring it on!
“Three Kingdoms” Is the ONE You Do Not Want To Miss!
“Three Kingdoms” is the most complexly plotted of the novels to date. The characters, both old and new, are exceedingly well developed, and are ones you will either love or hate. The scenes portrayed are vivid and stimulate ones imagination.
I will however say this to anyone who has never read any of the books in this series…”Three Kingdoms” in my personal opinion is NOT a STAND ALONE Novel. Please. Please. Please, read it after you’ve read the first 8 books beginning with “Trigger Point”, #1 in the series as you will then enjoy it much, much more. (“Trigger Point” and the following 7 novels in the series are all great reads, not one of them are, in my opinion worth less than 4.8 Stars (their combined average Amazon Star rating calculates out to be 4.675 Stars so I’m not far off).
There you have it. My opinion. My recommendation. And my basis for both. I HIGHLY Recommend this Book!
Read the book. Review the book. Mr. Maslen is an “Indie Author”, your, yes your, review helps.
This one is kind of double faceted. Gabriel owes a debt of honor to a Triad boss, who wants a high ranking Communist party official assassinated. This dude needs to be terminated, because he is wacko and villagers are disappearing. Gabriel has learned that he might have a baby sister, who was kidnapped when he was very young. He has no memory of her. He is using all of his resources to find out if she was still alive and, if she is, where she might be. The answer surprised me, so kudos to Maslen for that. Meanwhile, the insane Party official is busy killing the very soldiers that could protect him.
I did not write a review for any of the ten, I have saved my review for the end. Andy Maslen has kept me interested for a while week. I have finished the series. What I have to report is Fabulous, the story is very interesting and carries on from one book to the next. The star of the story, Gabriel Wolfe, has the best and the worst luck of just about any bloke I ever saw. He has good luck with his job only because he is well taught and trained. But the women in his life, man they just keep piling it on. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did. Good job Mr. Maslen.
Gabriel Wolfe is back and finding out that what he knew of his past and his family growing up is not all there is to know. While returning a favor for a triad boss in Hong Kong, Gabriel finds out someone wants to end his life, while also finding out he had a baby sister who was kidnapped when she was just a few months old. Lots of adventure for this man who is trying to come to terms with his past, his present and more importantly, his future.
Trouble always finds Wolfe, even when he’s off the clock.
Put on “gardening leave” after the events in Torpedo, Wolfe heads to Hong Kong to unravel the mystery of his sister, who was kidnapped as an infant. But things quickly get out of hand when he agrees to take on a job as a favour to a Triad boss.
Three Kingdoms is fast-paced, action-packed and tightly plotted, with an unexpected twist at the end. Excellent stuff from Andy Maslen.
Well I thought that I had read book 9 ,Torpedo. The fact that this is also book 9 didn't spoil the storyline. Good characters and believable storyline. Looking for his sibling ,Tara, Gabriel was intent on getting a result. And what a result too. I hope Andy Maslen can carry on with his heroes. I can recommend this author to anyone looking for something new to read. Well done Andy Maslen.
He's back and with a lot of baggage to deal with. Revelations all the way, enemies become friends and friends become enemies. Only Andy knows where we will go next with Gabriel but cant wait to find out. Every instalment is well worth waiting for. One of the best authors around, nothing less than five stars for any of his books so far.
Gabriel Wolfe. Ex British SAS. British covert operator. Currently on a forced sabbatical. On a personal mission in China. Things go sideways. Then he discovers a missing link into his kidnapped infant sister. Betrayal by a triad boss. Non stop action, intrigue. Missing links filled in. A stupendous read! My highest recommendation!
Another great book to add to an excellent series. This had me constantly reading and I struggled to put my kindle down! We see Gabriel still struggling with his demons whilst looking in to what happened to his family all those years ago. Great characters, excellent writing make a great plot with some thrilling action sequences. Can't wait for book 10.
Loved this book - another exciting episode in Gabriel Wolfe's story. I really enjoy how Andy Haslam has as several different storylines going on simultaneously and then seamlessly joins them together. A master acion/thriller writer.
