I enjoyed Clayton and Rose's story. The way they meet was great because it opened up our hero's sensual range in quite a delicious way. It was good to watch him settle into his needs. Rose was not a strong heroine for me. While I admit to seeing her grow, I found it difficult to accept her behavior while never really understanding her reasoning. I didn't learn anything that would make me at least believe, if not accept, that what she did made sense. This especially when some of her own behavior was directly related to one of the biggest non-protagonist conflicts of the story. The MCs had good chemistry and development as a unit. They practiced BDSM on the lighter-medium end of the kink spectrum. They progressed in a way that felt natural. The plot was good but I think adding a little more of what happened to Rose and her brother in a stronger backstory would've given the story depth and increased value. I liked Smith and the role he played in this tale. I curious about the kind of woman that would snare the sexy man. All in all a solid read. Safety: No OW. Yes to OM and sharing. It is consensual and open. Neither were Vs. Yes to abuse There is attempted rape.

3 'Savior' Stars!

Read this before I left for three days and quite enjoyed the love story between Clayton and Rose! I think I would have enjoyed it more if I read it before Smith's story but.. it was good!

I have to say I loved more the plot and the love story in Knight, I felt more connected to the story and the characters. Still, it was an okay read to pass the time!

Guardo gli erotici MF sempre con molta diffidenza, mi avvicino a loro con occhio super critico quasi con la paura di rimanere per l'ennesima volta delusa, eppure non ho letto Il Giustiziere, l'ho letteralmente divorato. Amo totalmente ed inesorabilmente Rose così lontana dai canoni della brava e buona ragazza innocente, una protagonista che ci trascina nella sua vita e mette totalmente a nudo se stessa, senza filtri e mezze misure. La vita non ha fatto sconti a Rose: da un'infanzia infelice ad un presente che grida fallita da qualunque lato la si guardi. Eppure lei durante il giorno indossa la sua maschera di imperturbabilità sorridente, va avanti mantenendo il controllo di un equilibrio instabile, nasconde i suoi segreti più oscuri e aspetta la notte quando può trovare la sua dose di felicità, la sua via di fuga da una pessima vita. Rose non ha limiti al divertimento, è a caccia di sesso e trasgressione, qualunque cosa pur di scappare dalla realtà e cedere momentaneamente il controllo del suo corpo e dimenticare se stessa. Ma il corpo è l'unica cosa disposta ad offrire anche quando irrompe nella sua vita Clayton che stravolge la sua precarietà, la mette davanti ad una realtà sconcertante e pericolosa e soprattutto decide di proteggerla non solo dai pericoli esterni ma anche da se stessa. Clayton é un integerrimo agente dell'FBI, segue le regole sempre, è forte e determinato, dolce e spensierato Lui è perfetto e riesce a leggere dentro tutte le imperfezioni di Rose. Attrazione, bisogno, controllo e dominazione li portano a non poter rinunciare l'uno all'altro, la paura di non essere abbastanza e di fallire rischieranno di allontanarli ma i pericoli esterni potrebbero definitivamente distruggerli. Il Giustiziere è un erotico perfetto che esplora i bisogni e i capricci dei protagonisti senza mai essere scontato, è dettagliato e descritto benissimo e cattura totalmente l'attenzione. Le scene BDSM sono perfette e non sono di quelle atte a scandalizzare per creare scalpore o indignazione: l'autrice sa quello che scrive e lo sa fare mirabilmente, sondando la componente psicologica in ogni scena, sesso e BDSM è una terapia, un mezzo per soddisfare non solo il corpo ma anche la mente. La caratterizzazione dei personaggi è il pezzo forte della storia, l'imperfezione di Rose e la perfezione di Clayton sono palesi, la sinergia tra loro li porta a mettersi in discussione e a cambiare, ad accettarsi. Questo è un romanzo psicologico che sonda tutti gli aspetti reconditi dei protagonisti e ce li fa conoscere profondamente. La storia si evolve in modi inaspettati con picchi di tensione, la suspense arricchisce un romanzo già di per sé perfetto. Lo stile della Sykes è molto bello ma la traduzione e l'editing hanno reso la versione italiana perfetta sotto ogni aspetto…

Recensione di Sara – Il giustiziere di Julia Sykes, secondo volume della serie erotic romance Impossible, pubblicato l’11 Gennaio 2019 da Quixote Edizioni.

Devo fare un’ammissione. Prima di scrivere questa recensione ho fatto passare un giorno intero dalla fine del libro. Avevo bisogno di prendere fiato, di respirare con calma perché ho letto in apnea, capitolo dopo capitolo, la storia di Rose e Clayton.
Lui mi aveva conquistata già nel libro precedente, ma la vera protagonista di questa storia è Rose.
É lei il centro di tutto. É grazie a lei che avremo la possibilità di leggere di un nuovo Clayton, più autoritario ma pur sempre un uomo dal cuore immenso, un uomo che non abbandona nessuno, un uomo d’oro.

Rose è una ragazza che, da quando era piccola, ha vissuto una vita d’inferno. Le persone che avrebbero dovuto tenerla al sicuro, incoraggiarla e farla sentire speciale sono le stesse che hanno creato dentro di lei delle crepe, dando vita a insicurezze e una scarsa autostima che ha portato Rose ad addentrarsi sempre di più in una spirale discendente di autodistruzione. Ogni notte Rose cerca conforto e sfogo tra le braccia di un uomo diverso. É il suo modo di evadere dalla realtà, di scappare dai problemi che si porta dietro da anni. L’alcol e il sesso riescono a farla sentire serena per un’ora o due, poi tornano i pensieri e i problemi.

Rose ha abbandonato i suoi sogni e le sue speranze per occuparsi di suo fratello, nemmeno ventenne, alle prese con la dipendenza da droghe. Si occupa di lui ma, quando arrivano le crisi di astinenza ci sono volte in cui Rose non riesce a sopportarlo e così evade dalla realtà, si finge un’altra donna e si abbandona tra le lenzuola di uno sconosciuto.

É proprio così che conosce Clayton. Un bar, qualche shot di tequila ed il gioco è fatto. Lei lo vuole, ma non ha la minima idea del fatto che l’uomo che pensava di non incontrare mai più farà parte della sua vita molto più a lungo di una notte.

Clayton Vaughn è seduto al bancone di un bar, da solo. Non immaginava che una ragazza così bella e sensuale come quella seduta accanto a lui gli offrisse da bere, ma perché rifiutare una chiacchierata in compagnia di una donna? Lui non è il tipo d’uomo che va nei bar a cercare una preda per qualche ora di compagnia, è il tipo d’uomo a cui piace corteggiare, che vuole una relazione. Eppure non riesce a resistere allo sguardo di questa ragazza sconosciuta.

Basta un gioco di sguardi e qualche carezza per fargli prendere la decisione di lasciarsi andare con lei e così, poco dopo, Clayton si trova nel proprio appartamento con lei, senza riuscire a staccarsi dalla ragazza che ha di fronte.
La sconosciuta davanti a lui è diversa dalle donne che ha conosciuto. C’è qualcosa, in lei, che fa venire a galla un lato che Clayton ha tenuto legato dentro di sé per anni.

Pensavano fosse una sola notte, ma così non è stato. Grazie al fratello di Rose, che si è immischiato con la banda più pericolosa della città, Clayton e Rose dovranno passare molto tempo a stretto contatto l’uno con l’altra e la notte che hanno passato insieme non è più solo un ricordo, ma qualcosa di cui entrambi hanno bisogno. Clayton dovrà proteggere Rose e Rose si dovrà fidare di lui per la sua sicurezza, dovrà affidare all’agente dell’FBI non solo il suo corpo, ma tutta la sua intera vita.

“Lo conoscevo da così poco tempo, ma nessuno mi aveva mai trattata come faceva lui. Con un unico sguardo penetrante, sembrava capace di leggermi dentro, di scorgere la vera me, che nessun altro si era mai preoccupato di cercare. A essere onesta, mi ero nascosta con attenzione, mascherando la mia vulnerabilità con una facciata spensierata. In quel modo, nessuno poteva conoscere le mie debolezze; nessuno mi poteva far del male. A Clayton mi aveva fatta uscire allo scoperto e, anche se mi spaventava, ero meravigliata dal fatto che non fosse disgustato da ciò che aveva trovato.”

Cedere il controllo totale del proprio corpo a un’altra persona è un atto di estrema fiducia. Rose ne ha bisogno, ha bisogno di sottomettersi sessualmente all’uomo che le sta di fronte e non pensava minimamente di trovare in Clayton questo genere di partner. Lui riesce a capirla, a sentire i suoi bisogni e impulsi, riesce a farla sentire bene e a farla fidare al punto da lasciarsi sottomettere da lui.

Clayton non è mai stato un Dom, eppure la sua aura ne rispecchia a pieno il bisogno. Ciò che c’è tra lui e Rose non è qualcosa di passeggero, è un legame di cui non riescono a fare a meno che si è formato nel primo momento in cui i loro occhi si sono incontrati. Cedere il controllo è lo sfogo di cui Rose ha bisogno e lasciare che sia Clayton a controllarla, a dirle cosa fare e farla sentire viva è tutto ciò di cui la ragazza ha bisogno. Ciò che vuole.

Non fatevi trarre in inganno dal fatto che Rose sia una Sub (sottomessa). Rose è forte, determinata e caparbia. É indipendente e capace di occuparsi di sé e, se una situazione non le sta bene, non si fa problemi a parlarne. Fidarsi così tanto di Clayton e cedergli il completo e totale controllo sul suo corpo riesce a calmare quella parte rotta dentro Rose, a sanarla. Clayton potrebbe salvarla da se stessa e dall’autodistruzione grazie allo sfogo sessuale, alla fiducia che lei ha riposto in lui, fiducia che l’uomo non può che ricambiare.
Per avere questo tipo di rapporto così intimo con qualcuno c’è bisogno di completa fiducia e sincerità, qualcosa che entrambi impareranno strada facendo.
Loro sono così dolci, ma anche forti assieme. Si appartengono e con il tempo riescono a sanare le ferite dell’altro perché, anche se vengono da due mondi differenti, entrambi portano nel cuore cicatrici piene di dolore.

“Il fatto che mi credesse capace di cambiare, che richiedesse che io lo facessi, mi dava la speranza di poter essere la persona che vedevo riflessa nei suoi occhi quando mi guardava.”

La Sykes ha un potere. Non so come, ma riesce sempre a farmi amare tutti i suoi personaggi. Ho amato Clayton, ho amato Rose. La sua penna, i dialoghi, le descrizioni.. è stato tutto perfetto. L’autrice ha preferito non inserire decine di scene erotiche senza senso e io ho apprezzato questa scelta. Quelle che ci sono sono perfette, sensuali e davvero erotiche. Non sono volgari, ma fanno capire perfettamente ciò che succede, ciò che Rose e Clayton provano, ciò di cui hanno bisogno.

A questo proposito vi avviso che ci saranno scene erotiche che coinvolgeranno un’altra persona, ma se la Sykes le ha fatte amare a me (che non vado particolarmente pazza per queste cose) le amerete anche voi. Io, comunque, spero sempre che questa terza persona abbia la sua storia, perché mi ha incuriosita da morire.
C’è stato solo un momento, durante la lettura del libro, in cui non ho condiviso delle scelte di Rose, sebbene le capisca. Ma questo è assolutamente un mio pensiero.
Se amate le storie erotiche ben scritte, con una trama che va oltre il sesso e con personaggi ben caratterizzati, leggete questo secondo volume della serie Impossible e lasciatevi guidare da Clayton e Rose nella loro storia e crescita personale, assaporate la passione, protezione e amore che sono in grado di provare l’uno per l’altra.

I’ve read a few Julia Sykes books, and every time I go a while without reading one I’m always surprised by how hot they are upon my return. I absolutely adore the books Julia Sykes writes, and I need to stop taking such long breaks between each read. With Savior being the second book in the Impossible series, I’ve decided I’m going to ensure I’ve finished this series soon – as I really do need more of the characters.

I actually fell in love with the Impossible world following my foray into the spin-off series, but I quickly found myself needing to return to the original series. Impossible was a lot of fun, and at the end I found myself desperate for the stories of certain characters. With Savior, I got one such story.

From the start, I was sucked into Savior. Like all my Julia Sykes reads, this one was insanely hot. It was lighter on the BDSM than other Julia Sykes books, but it was still incredibly hot. Not to mention, the chemistry between the characters was wonderful. I fell in love with their relationship, I loved watching them grow, and I really hope they appear regularly as a couple in the future books. I need to see more of them, as I really do adore them.

The only thing I wish there’d been more of was the suspense storyline. This one was interesting, but it was lacking the depth of the storyline in Impossible. I feel as though it was brushed to the side somewhat and was never given as much attention as it could have been. I really wish we had worked our way a little deeper into that part of the storyline – along with the past of our female lead – as it would have made the book even more enjoyable.

As a whole, though, I loved this one in the way I had hoped I would. There is no doubt I’ll be diving into book three soon.

"Ciò che avrei dovuto fare sarebbe stato uscire alla prima occasione, trovare un altro uomo con cui scopare e scacciare il ricordo di Clayton. Fu inquietante quanto quel pensiero mi rendesse infelice. Forse avrei dovuto chiamarlo…Roteai gli occhi. Trovare qualcuno di diverso da scopare era decisamente al primo posto della lista. Magari sarei andata al Decadence, il mio locale BDSM preferito. Avevo la sensazione che ci sarebbe voluto un vero Dominatore per togliermi Clayton dalla mente. Forse il famigerato Master S sarebbe stato lì. Erano anni che me lo volevo fare. Era senza dubbio uno dei Dom più sexy ed esperti in circolazione e il fatto che indossasse sempre una maschera nera, con cui nascondeva la parte superiore del viso, lo rendeva ancora più intrigante. Sì, sarebbe stato proprio il mio prossimo bersaglio. Spostai l’attenzione dal sesso alla giornata di lavoro, esercitandomi con il sorriso zuccheroso che avevo sempre stampato in viso quando sopportavo la condiscendenza di Cheryl. Potevo odiare quella stronza, ma avevo bisogno di quel lavoro."

Il primo incontro con Rose, la protagonista, avviene in un bar mentre si sta accingendo a trovare un compagno per la notte. Se in un primo momento appare una ragazza leggera, ben presto ci si rende conto che il suo comportamento ha radici nel profondo bisogno di evadere per qualche attimo da una vita difficile e da problemi enormi. Vedere e desiderare quell’uomo è un attimo, scoprire poi la sua vena dominante è come la ciliegina sulla torta, ed è una notte fantastica.

Nonostante il desiderio che prova verso il partner appena incontrato, lei è decisa a seguire lo stesso copione di sempre, andarsene all’alba e non rivederlo mai più, ma il destino ha deciso diversamente. Ha avuto tante brevi avventure nella sua vita, eppure Clayton per la prima volta le riesce difficile da dimenticare e Rose rimane sconvolta nel momento in cui se lo trova davanti la porta di casa. Specialmente quando si rende conto che a portarlo lì è il suo lavoro, e che questo prevede che lui stia per arrestare l’unica persona che per lei conta davvero qualcosa, a meno che non si presti a raccogliere prove contro i Latin Kings, una delle bande più pericolose del territorio.

Non è stata buona la sorte con Rose: le ha dato una madre che ha fatto di tutto per azzerare la sua stima, al punto tale che lei pensa di non meritare niente di buono; per questo quando tutto le appare troppo pesante va alla ricerca di uomini che la trattino rudemente o, meglio ancora, veri e propri dominatori. Si lascia usare, mantenendo però sempre il controllo della situazione, ed è questo il motivo per cui Clayton la turba così profondamente: dal momento in cui lo conosce si rende conto che lui è in grado di renderla indifesa verso le sensazioni che le suscita, è autoritario e dolce nello stesso tempo, la fa sentire protetta e desiderata, e per la prima volta non è lei al comando.

Per Clayton invece, ritrovarla dietro quella porta ha voluto dire scoprire le bugie che Rose gli ha raccontato, e ci vuole davvero poco perché si renda conto di quanto in realtà sia fragile, sotto la maschera che espone al mondo. Il desiderio di aiutarla e di proteggerla lo spinge a chiedere aiuto a un amico, un noto Master di BDSM, per poterle dare ciò di cui ha bisogno, acuendo in questo modo il suo lato già di per sé dominante.

E nonostante Rose tenti più volte di far fallire la loro relazione, lui farà qualsiasi cosa per tenerla al sicuro, anche dalla persona che dovrebbe amarla di più e che invece la renderà un bersaglio mettendola in grave pericolo.

Nonostante vi sia un rapporto BDSM, e anche una condivisione con un altro Master, questo libro ha attimi di grande dolcezza e i due protagonisti riescono a esprimere sentimenti sinceri l’uno per l’altra. Non ci sono scene particolarmente forti e il tutto rimane abbastanza soft, mentre il secondo personaggio che si unisce alla coppia, risulta davvero affascinante e mi piacerebbe poterne leggere la storia.

La coppia Rose e Clayton con le loro dinamiche funziona davvero bene, regalando scene di sesso e dominazione molto piacevoli e ben scritte che risultano passionali e piene di ardore. I protagonisti sono splendidamente descritti, e più di una volta vorrete prendere a sberle Rose. Il suo modo distruttivo di comportarsi finirà per metterla in pericolo, così come la bassa stima di sé che la porta a considerarsi una fallita. E non potrete fare a meno di amare Clayton con il suo desiderio di tenerla al sicuro, protettivo e severo quanto basta per riuscire a farle capire che ha tante possibilità ancora da sfruttare, e che avere cercato di sopravvivere al dolore non fa di lei una sgualdrina.

Anche se il libro appartiene ad una serie, vi assicuro può essere letto come stand-alone senza problemi: troverete i protagonisti del libro precedente solo nelle ultime pagine, e non hanno una parte attiva nella storia. La scrittura dell’autrice è davvero bella e scorrevole, la traduzione impeccabile e precisa; l’unica pecca di questo libro e non aver sfruttato appieno la parte suspense che risulta un po’ penalizzata. È comunque una lettura interessante, se amate i rapporti dominatori-sub è un libro da non farvi sfuggire, e per quanto mi riguarda ho già sul reader il primo della serie che non avevo letto, ma che recupererò sicuramente.

Absolutely LOVED it !!!!!

I was so happy when Julia offered up Savior to me, I was dying to for Clayton to get his story after what happened in the Impossible Series He deserved to get his day!!!!

If you have not read the Impossible series yet, I would suggest you read it before this one because this does have characters from that series in it and you will get spoilers from this book.

We all met Clayton in the Impossible Series. He was the FBI Agent who Clair and Sean worked with.

Rose Brings out the best in Clayton in this book, and Clayton Brings out the best in Rose. Together they are a set steamy match for each other in this book, With both wanting so much but being scared and hesitant to take it all at once.

Rose her life is a mess, she works for a Bitch of a boss, her brother is a drug addict and she sluts around in bars to hide her pain she is feeling inside. One night while in the dive bar She meets Clayton, just another guy she plans to spend the night with and have sex to shield her pain and forget about her problems. Little did she know it would be a night she would never be able to forget.

Clayton sitting in a bar after working on his current case. He meets Rose who comes onto him and after having a drink together he takes her home with him. They have a night filled with intense sexual pleasure.

The next day Clayton discovers that Rose is the sister to a druggie that they want to work with them in bringing down the Latin Kings.

Things get heated up, Clayton is determined to Protect Rose and Her brother with he helps them with their case.

Julia has brought out alot in this story, we get suspense, harsh language, as well as a touch of some BDSM in this story it was exciting and it kept me reading all the way to the end. Julia truly knows how to write a story that keeps the reader interested from start to finish.

I can not wait for Book #2 Rogue and #3 Knight in this series

Clayton mi era piaciuto in "Impossibile" ma qui è stato meraviglioso. Il modo in cui è entrato subito nella parte del Dom è stato WOW. Rose invece è una ragazza che si stava auto distruggendo. Il fratello lo faceva con la droga, lei col sesso. Tra suspense, azione e tanto sesso... questo libro l'ho divorato. Le loro scene di sesso sono ad alto tasso erotico. Sono veramente stupende <3 Bellissimo!

I *heart* Julia Sykes so much. There are not many books I enjoy that have harder BDSM scenes, but Julia pushes my limits to the point of squirming and I always come back for more.

I loved Clayton in Impossible: The Original Trilogy which contains the first 3 books in this series and I could not wait for him to have his own story.

Have I shared that Clayton is from Indianola, IA. While I am not from Indianola, I know it well, and it was just really cool to see a town near me mentioned in a book. That was not totally OT was it?

We have Clayton, who is not really over the fact that Claudia (who he saved in the other books) is going to marry Sean. Enter Rose. Rose has had a tough rough life. Her brother is an addict who is working for a nasty gang to keep his habit flowing. Rose is kind of an enabler when it comes to him because she does not want to push him away completely. She definitely doesn’t want him to be doing the drugs, but she also doesn’t want him to die when it comes to withdrawing. I can only imagine that scenario and how tough it would be. It is just her and her brother. Her mother was cruel and horrible and damaged Rose’s self esteem to the point that she can’t see her life being anything but what it is. She has her own addiction to help her get through her own pain, and that would be men. No attachments, just one night to get her fix.

This is just another amazing story for Julia. She pushed me to the point of being a little uncomfortable while reading some of the scenes, but she also leaves me craving more, more, more. Her characters never have an ideal perfect life. There is always some sort of struggle going on that is heart wrenching to watch as a reader. In the Impossible series, there is always something going on that is illegal, Clayton is an FBI agent, you know there is going to be something hard core happening on that front too.

I just think Julie is an incredible author, she has a way with words that is uniquely her own, there is no sugar coating anything, everything is right there, boldly in your face, and Savior is just another excellent example of her amazing talent.

Now I have to read Knight. I bought it the day I saw that the new release, just like I did Savior, and it is next up on my free day list of books that I absolutely have to read.

Hoping for nothing more than a one-night-stand, Rose is shocked when her latest ‘bar pick-up’; Clayton, turns up on her doorstep and isn’t so easy to shake off. It soon comes to light that Clayton is one of the agents trying to ‘bring down’ a notorious gang, and wants Rose’s drug addict brother Greg, to collect information for him.
It is suggested that for maximum effect this book should be read after the 3 ‘Impossible’ series books, Monster, Traitor and Avenger and carries a warning for strong language, violence, and BDSM, some of which involve ménage (M/F/M). It also contains scenes of sexual assault, which some readers may find upsetting.

Julia Sykes is a fluid writer, with a great ability for storytelling. Reading her books always gives me something to think about and they all keep me guessing. Personally I prefer the crime/thriller side to her plots, but the erotica is extremely well written and is sure to have most readers hot under the collar through certain scenes.

Savior is a multi layered story that held my interest from start to finish and I would recommend to readers who like their erotica novels to also have a back-story that is gritty and exciting.

If you've read The Impossible series...then you already met Agent Clayton Vaughn. He was introduced as the passionate FBI agent determined to bring down drug dealers and gangs from the streets. He also falls in love (Lust really) with damsels in distress.

Savior picks up from the end of Avenger where Clayton has found out that Sean and Claudia are getting married. He is heart broken and drowning his sorrows in the pub. It is at the bar where he is smoothly seduced by the gorgeous Rose.

What starts as a night of hot passionate sex quickly turns into a crossfire of danger, lust and true to Julia Sykes style...BDSM!

We continue to see the dreamy Clayton being the Knight in shining armor, however Rose helps bring out the Dom in him...and Agent Vaughn is one very quick learner.

But even with a sexy love story happening, Rose soon becomes entangled in the dangers of the FBI and it's job of scourging the city of scum.

Can Agent Vaughn save Rose in Time? Can Rose learn to Love? You need to read Savior to find out!!!

Lovtte the cover!

Can't judge a book by its cover but it helps develop the scene and it's setting. Love all your covers and made me initiate this read.
The novel was engaging and fast read. Would I read more from this author and the answer is a definite, yes!
I love compete novels and if the writing, plot and characters are engaging then buy all means continue with other characters in the series. This author has done all three.
Hopefully other readers will love this author as much as I have.
First time reader of Sykes and I just signed up for future reads.

Rose è una protagonista controversa, sveglia che ama avere il controllo quanto lasciarlo all'uomo in camera da letto. È decisa e risoluta, ma al tempo stesso, è insicura riguardo molti aspetti della sua vita ed ha pensieri che la riportano a frasi che, soprattutto sua madre, era solita rivolgerle, come quella di essere una sgualdrina.
I capelli biondo platino e una personalità che non cerca legami sono il suo biglietto da visita.In una sera, non diversa da molte altre, una scintilla negli occhi blu di Clayton che ha incontrato in un bar, e la voglia di confessarsi (sotto falso nome) ha la meglio. Perché è la complicità che li accompagna fin dall'inizio a far scoppiare la bolla del confine tra il dire e tacere.
Una persona autoritaria a letto è tutto ciò che cerca, è questo che continua a ripetersi Rose, anche quando non vuole sgusciare via dal letto del suo amante perfetto.
Rose è abituata ad indossare una maschera, quella della festaiola e non dà a nessuno la possibilità di vedere e scoprire quanto sola sia.
Clayton, oltre ad essere il sexy, buono e gentile agente dell'FBI che abbiamo già conosciuto si rivelerà ancora più determinato, astuto e deciso ad abbattere le barriere erette da Rose.
Lui che con il suo charme mi aveva già conquistata, in questo libro mi è piaciuto ancora di più se possibile. Ha tirato fuori diversi aspetti di se stesso che mi hanno incuriosita molto: il suo modo arrogante e elegante al tempo stesso, le sue convinzioni sulla parità dei sessi, un corteggiamento da favola ma pur sempre reale. È acqua e fuoco al tempo stesso. Sa cullare e sa come incendiare Rose.
Entrambi mi sono piaciuti molto, non si era capito?
In questo libro il pov è unicamente femminile e l'autrice ci immerge fin da subito nell'incontro tra Rose e Clayton. Rose con tutte le sue imperfezioni si è resa una delle protagoniste più belle che abbia mai letto.
È vera e assolutamente reale, insicura e imperfetta.
Lo stile di scrittura l'ho trovato più fluido di "Impossibile" e, come quest'ultimo, molto coerente soprattutto dal punto di vista mentale e emozionale dei protagonisti.
La vita non è tutta rose e fiori e questi protagonisti ce lo raccontano bene. Mi sono addentrata nella loro vita, quasi a scusarmi. Due anime fragili che avevano un bisogno d'affetto più di qualsiasi altra cosa. Da un lato Clayton è appagato per il suo lavoro, ma ha un lato che non mostra, quello ferito che lo rende chi è. E dall'altra parte c'è Rose, un nome tanto gentile quanto una mente subdola che non aiuta durante la vita. Entrambi sono spezzati e aspettano che qualcuno li salvi dal loro destino, dalla semplice quotidianità, forse. Hanno una storia bellissima che non posso non definire dolce, (vanilla, come direbbe Julia Sykes), hanno animi buoni e sanno apprezzare entrambi la vita ma hanno anche paura di affrontarla. Questo, è appunto un romanzo che ho trovato di una dolcezza estrema, ma di certo il filo di BDSM che caratterizza le storie d'amore di Julia Sykes sarà presente e farà infuocare anche i più casti lettori. La parte BDSM è ben costruita, anche per chi non è abituato a leggerlo, l'autrice è riuscita con tensione graduale a portare questo libro in una categoria, a mio parere, superiore a "Impossibile".
Una lettura senza freni che mi ha trascinata e lasciata a bocca aperta in più di un'occasione.
Due anime spezzate che son state capaci di avvolgermi come velluto caldo in una notte solitaria.

Premessa: che caldo…

Rose è una giovane donna che dimentica i suoi problemi andando a caccia di uomini. Alla ricerca di un’emozione, dell’uomo che apparentemente la domini, ma che in realtà le lasci le redini del gioco: uomini per una notte di sesso, senza sentimenti, senza rimpianti.

Finché non incontra Clayton Vaughn. Clayton non solo le risveglia sensazioni mai provate, ma si dimostra un uomo corretto e soprattutto non interessato a una botta e via.
Nonostante Rose cerchi in tutti i modi di allontanarlo, non pronta a innamorarsi, Clayton – assegnato alla protezione della donna e del fratello – non accetta di starle lontano.

Complice un amico esperto nelle dinamiche di Dominazione/sottomissione (D/s), Clayton diventa ben presto tutto quello che Rose può desiderare e non solo dal punto di vista sessuale.

La storia d’amore tra Rose e Clayton è ad alto tasso erotico. Tocca con garbo e intelligenza molti aspetti delle dinamiche D/s (mantenute nel contesto della relazione sentimentale e sessuale) che coinvolgono Rose in profondità e la costringono ad affrontare i suoi demoni.

Intrappolata dal senso di colpa e responsabilità per il fratello tossicodipendente, demoralizzata da una titolare che la svilisce e con un passato tormentato, Rose deve farsi strada nel buio e trovare la forza di spiccare il volo.

Perdere il controllo per riacquistare il controllo, dolore come liberazione, queste sono le vie che Rose percorrerà con Clayton.

Come ho già accennato il libro è ad alto tasso erotico. La sensualità pervade tutto il romanzo e ha molti aspetti classici del BDSM.

È un romanzo che nella sua linearità travolge, mescolando sentimenti e passione, tra l’autorità sexy di Clayton e la sua grande capacità di vedere dentro Rose, e sostenerla in tutto. Due personaggi che si curano l’un l’altro, che insieme percorrono una strada verso la guarigione da ferite che non sono nemmeno del tutto consapevoli di avere.

Scivola via veloce, infiamma (se mi capite…) ma allo stesso tempo intenerisce e fa sospirare.

La trama di contorno ha un momento di debolezza sul finale, ma ci si può passare sopra. Al contrario del libro precedente, che aveva alcune lentezze, qui la narrazione non perde mai il ritmo costringendo chi legge a voltare pagina.

I personaggi sono belli, Rose in particolare è molto vera. Siamo tutte un po’ Rose in fondo, celiamo nella nostra anima rimpianti e amarezze di cui spesso non abbiamo colpa. Clayton è… sexy, agente FBI, dominatore quanto basta. Devo continuare? Poi c’è un comprimario (Master S.) di tutto rispetto (che spero di rivedere in futuro).

Se siete pronti a una storia d’amore un po’anticonformista e… aperta, questo libro è per voi.

Mi sono innamorata della Sykes con la lettura di Impossibile, a parte qualche piccola sbavatura ho trovato quel romanzo perfettamente bilanciato tra la componente Dark, suspense, mafiosa ed erotica.... Mi ha fatto digerire anche il BDSM nonostante mi sembrasse un orpello in più che poteva pure togliere, ma soprattutto la trama Dark finalmente era qualcosa che affondava le radici in aspetti reali e concreti.
Quindi viste le premesse e visto cosa succedeva a una certa persona nel precedente romanzo mi sono buttata subito a pesce, convinta che avrei amato a dismisura anche questo romanzo.
L'ho divorato in pochissime ore, la Sykes mi ha di nuovo conquistato con la sua scrittura, ma la storia non ha avuto lo stesso effetto magico della scorsa volta.
L'inizio mi ha colpito mostrandoci la protagonista con la sua devastazione psicologica e sofferenza in primo piano. Mi ha colpito e spiazzato, ma l'effetto era ancora parecchio positivo. Poi finalmente ci mostra il protagonista maschile, lo ritroviamo come sempre, bello, affascinante e risoluto, ma una persona tutta d'un pezzo e precisa.
«È questo ciò che sono per te? Solo qualcuno che usi per divertimento? Pensavo di essere qualcosa di più. Pensavo di aiutarti a fermare quel tipo di comportamento, ma è chiaro che lo sto solo favorendo, invece.»

Inizia anche la componente mafia romance e qui comincio ad esaltarmi e a non stare più nella pelle, anche se molte cosucce sono poco convincenti e traballanti, ma va beh non sono così esperta su i comportamenti del FBI quindi mi andava bene anche così... il punto è che quasi da subito la componente BDSM ed erotica ha preso il sopravvento su tutta la trama rendendola molto risicata. E poi passi che il protagonista maschile non ce lo vedevo a fare queste pratiche ma va beh si può comunque entrare nel giro e apprezzarlo, ma non ho digerito che diventasse ingombrante rispetto alla trama.
La componente suspense è ritornata giusto alla fine per ricordarci che è un mafia romance, facendo risalire l'adrenalina, ma sembra un pò appiccicata tanto per.
Non voglio raccontarvi altro del romanzo né influenzarvi nella scelta di leggerlo o meno, perché so perfettamente che questo romanzo conquisterà una grande fetta di lettori perché la Sykes sa scrivere molto bene, le sue scene sono bollenti, trasgressive ma non sono mai volgari, ma sono io che mi aspettavo qualcosa di più dopo averla letta con Impossibile, dove a mio avviso ha saputo meglio dosare tutti le componenti di cui lei ama scrivere.
La Sykes può fare molto di più, aspetto di leggerla ancora.

Le persone non cambiano, finché non sono pronte a farlo e non puoi costringerle a essere chi tu vuoi che siano. Non importa quanto disperatamente lo desideri.

I made this mistake once before, and with this book I made it again. Reading the second book before the first book. Stupid. While it didn't really matter for the storyline, it did matter when you read the first book after the second. A lot was already known. Buttttt, it didn't make me enjoy this any less.


Other readers might have already known Clayton. To me he was new. A character I hadn't meet yet.
So when Rose met Clayton in a bar, I was equally intrigued with him. Broody personality, great body, gorgeous eyes? CHECK. Rose wants to go home with him, but there is no way in hell she's giving him her real name.


Rose has a certain taste in the bedroom. She frequently visits BDSM clubs and plays around a bit. So when Clayton takes Rose home, she informs him quickly on her preferances. Clayton, 'till then as Vanilla as they come, gives into Rose's taste and unlocks his inner Dominant. A night full of new experiences. A one night stand you won't see after this night, right?


Nope. Because who stands on Rose's doorstep to arrest her addicted brother? Yes, indeed. Clayton Vaughn, FBI agent.


Rose's brother works for a gang. A gang the FBI is deperate to dismantel. So they cut him a deal, help bring the gang down and you're free to go. What they didn't count on was the fact that Rose already caught the gang's eyes. So she needed to be protected, and who is more fitted for that job than Clayton.


Rose tries and tries to resist Clayton. Blaming him for the danger her brother is in. Blaming him for a lot of things. It takes everything in Clayton to convince her otherwise.

❝I couldn't help being captivated by his gorgeous eyes. They were clear and honest, and all of the times I had cursed him as an asshole and a bastard suddenly seemed very wrong.❞

While the first book had a more darker motiv, I found that this book focused more on the discovery of Clayton's Dominant and Rose's Submissive sides. And let me tell you, that was NO bad thing. Because damn, the steamy scenes in this book were AMAZING. Oh. And the HOTTEST threesome ever. Damn, I'm still not over that. If you wondered where Clayton learned all of his new BDSM moves? I suggest you read this ASAP. You won't be disappointed.


Great storyline, amazing character development. I do need to mention that there is a (almost) rape scene. The drug abuse in this book was obvious, I guess. But the rape scene came quit unexpected.


I'd say well done, Julia. You gained a fan.

So I'm trying to give audiobooks a second chance. I am a TERRIBLE listener - I just can't do two things at once I guess. Even in the car alone I find my mind trailing off and not paying attention to the book. Though it was much easier listening to smut than any other genre, it was still kind of weird listening to a voice behind all these sex scenes. I guess having a voice to listen to kind of changes my perception of the character a little. It's just kind of odd (especially for this genre), but I digress.

The book itself was pretty awesome, especially for my first Julia Sykes book! I've been meaning to pick up one of her books for some time now and this one was pretty hot. Definitely kind of cheesy at times (possibly due to narration), but enjoyable none the less. I'll definitely be reading more from the Impossible series.

I really like Ms. Sykes style, that being said I wish the books that I've read were dual POV. It would've been nice to get Clayton's perception of events.
I still really enjoyed being inside Rose's head, she was someone I could relate to with the fact on how she sees herself except for the main thing. Her drug of choice!
Again I really enjoyed the BDSM element of the story. Ms. Sykes is the author I've read that written M/F BDSM. Most authors don't write the characters doing scenes or it's just really bad writing lol.
This book has some dark issues and it was great to see how the characters reacted.
I'm going to continue on with the series cus I noticed the next book has a character that intrigued me from this book.

Book 2 of this series centres around Rose, a minimum wage employee trying to keep life together for herself and her drug addict brother. Her only vice is one-night stands.
Knowing she has nothing to offer but her body, she seeks out bad boys to control her and give her the safety she craves, even for just one night.
So what possesses her to flirt with clean cut, straight laced Clayton Vaughn she doesn't know but their one night together is the best of her life. But can she slip out as easily as she slipped into his life?
I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book and adored every word!

Rose and Clayton

Clayton is FBI and needs Rose's addict brother to help him bring down some drug dealers. Rose is into BDSM and slept with Clayton before they knew who each other were. Rose has no self esteem and needs someone to take control of her life so that she will stop being reckless. Clayton wants to be that person.

This story has a lot of heat and scenes that sometime include a second man. Rose loves sexual pain with her pleasure and Clayton knows how to make her feel good.

Bellissimo. Julia Skyes devo dire è proprio brava a scrivere dell’ambiente BDSM. Si sicuro non è uno dei libri che consiglierei per cominciare, perché è molto forte. Devo dire la verità che mi è piaciuta molto ma molto di più l’altra sua serie che ha scritto: Captive. Quella è veramente fantastica. Continuo a pensarci.
Questa serie anche è bella, ma mi sembra machi sempre qualcosa ai personaggi.
Anche in questo caso avrei preferito di più vedere qualche altro lato di Clayton.

Do 4.5 stelle non perché non mi sia piaciuto quanto il primo, ma si sentiva la mancanza del punto di vista maschile...spero che nei prossimi lo abbia messo. Detto ciò Rose e Clayton sono una forza della natura proprio come Claudia e Sean (protagonisti di Impossibile). Consiglio assolutamente questa serie e questa scrittrice. Non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo 😍

interesting read.

This is a very hot book.The chemistry between Rose and Clayton was scorching from the beginning.Rose was able to grow out of her feelings of being worthless with the help of Clayton who show her how to take control of her life and be someone worthy..This book so so hard for me to put down for I can see my self in rose.
