With Saladin licking his wounds in Egypt after his catastrophic defeat at Montgisard, King Baldwin takes the opportunity to start building a massive fortress overlooking Jacob’s Ford, the main crossing point over the River Jordan. Garrisoned with Templar knights and built stronger than any other castle in the Outremer, the fortress is designed to be impregnable and set to dominate the lands north of the Sea of Galilee for generations. Within a year, the magnificent castle starts to rise high above Jacob’s Ford, a terrifying statement designed to strike fear and awe into the hearts of any man. It is an unparalleled declaration of domination by the Christian king and confirmation to all his enemies that the path to Jerusalem is permanently closed. But deep in the forests of Banias, the warring Saracen tribes have finally combined, knowing that if they allow the fortress to remain unchallenged, the Christians would dominate the Holy Land for generations. Only one man could lead them to victory and his banners were already flying throughout the east. Saladin, Sultan of all Syria and Egypt had returned, and he had sworn upon his life that no matter what the cost, …the castle would fall…

The most recent project is a five-book series about the Templars during the 12th century. Templar Steel, Templar Stone, Templar Blood and Templar Fury are already on sale and Templar Glory is due for release in Oct 2021.
An exciting project is also underway, a three-book series chronicling the years leading up to and beyond the Battle of Hastings.
Excellent second book in the series. I thought this one was going to be a bit boring when it kind of distanced itself from the Templar connection very early, but it soon pulled it back in. Finishing with a massive battle a Chastellet at Jacobs Ford and touching on the fallout afterwards. Very well written, with some great characters. I cannot wait to get started on the third. My only issue is that there are a few grammar and spelling mistakes that seems to have got through the editing process. However, that aside i am firmly enjoying this series!
These are good books and this is a good writer, BUT…
After reading through hundreds of these books—maybe even a thousand—I find I no longer care about how they end, or who does what to whom. They all seem the same.
Same old sht.
I may be done reading made-up stories with Hollywood Content and scripts.
Of course, I am a lot older than you, and can still smell the peanut butter, and have seen everything three times….
This is the second book I’ve read by Kevin Ashman and again I was impressed by the narrative and the amount of very accessible history, I just couldn’t put it down. This is the first series I’ve read about the Crusades and I’m enjoying learning all about what went on back then. Mr Ashman certainly knows how to make history fun! A very definite and well-deserved 5 stars from me.
The fact that the author has stayed true to the history is what makes this a great read. The attention to detail in the military maneuvers and uniforms, weapons and tactics reinforces the history underlying the story. I can’t wait to read the next installment.
What I like about Ashman's Templar books are the vivid scenes of battle, skirmish and plotting building up the suspense and action. Other historical authors dwell too much on the gore and guts but in these books the action is a good mix.
There is plenty to laud about this book. The story is engrossing and the characters are very well described. I really want to point out though that I specie Mr. Ashman's now which introduce and trail the book. The history lesson is simply invaluable.
Another great story line following Thomas Cronin through the levant , adventure battles and castle building and sacking with intriguing side stories along thecway. Looking forward to the next instalment
I’ve immensely enjoyed reading this series. I like the way the author brings the characters to life and keeps the reader hungry for more. The Brotherhood will keep you awake eager to read more and more.
The books are easy to read, resembling the 11 and 12 centuries!! Liked very much the story, the characters and the order of the templars!! This much is what religion does to the human mind!!
An exciting tale, great battles in the storyline,a follow on from book1.It is well worth its five stars, this author writes great knowledgeable history
Every bit as good book1,great historic fiction of mostly actual happenings in the Holy land in the crusades,a lot of not so different characters in the non fiction story. The author has written a few other series of historic happenings in different era's of history, these are every bit as good as this series.I look forward to book 3 in this series.
Generally speaking, I have enjoyed the Brotherhood series so far and will continue reading it. However, some sentences and words are so thoroughly out of place in medieval times that they made me pause for a while, and I wondered why the author decided to use such a fraze. For instance, there was a conversation between a templar knight and a mercenary ( if I remember correctly), and they said that this and that word is everybody's mantra these days. Seriously, I very much doubt anyone in medieval Christendom will know what mantra is, let alone use it as a part of everyday language.
The tale is spun, weaving the fate of each character together in a both believing and amazing manner. I definitely recommend this series and this author to anyone who likes historical fiction from the medieval era.
