Mercy Davenport, a twenty-two-year-old, bold and vivacious rebel, is up to her elbows in drama. Pending trial due to her involvement in her best friend’s murder, she’s trying to figure out how and why she always seems to make a mess of things. Perhaps she will follow in her father’s suicidal footsteps, relieving her mother of the heart-aching burden she had become. That is until she meets her rescuer; R&B sensation, Richmond “Tru” Mills.
Seemingly her ticket to a care-free, jet-setting, champagne-filled life, Mercy and Tru dizzy into a fast-paced romance that sets her body on fire and has him declaring her as his ultimate destiny. Although she’s still haunted by her friend’s demise, life looks to be blossoming for Mercy. Except, looming in her background is that pesky, possible prison sentence.
King Stroman is easy on the eyes and his genuine care makes for an easy confidant. As Tru’s childhood friend and business partner, he’s often delegated the task of ensuring Mercy’s comfort and convenience. With undeniable attraction and evolving trust, Mercy and King are desperate to remain platonic, however, as Tru gives in to his vices, leaving Mercy vulnerable to King’s magnetism, it’s only a matter of time before everyone lets their inhibitions loose and it all hits the fan.
This book kept my attention from the start. We all know that our actions all have consequences no matter what. I understand Mercy faced some things that were just messed up but I'm glad she had someone who had her interest at heart- her King. I hope there's more to her story!
Kept my attention from beginning to end. Mercy has been through something’s and she almost let it get her all the way down but she didn’t allow it to. Tru was a mess. I liked King and glad he had Mercy’s best interest at heart.
I loved this story out the gate. The situation was sad and devastating, but as I turned the pages, the true story came to life and the players start to show their true colors.
The was Mercy Davenport story and she was a troubled child, but her mother still loved and took care of her. Than the unthinkable happened. She was part of a murder. This devastated Mercy and she hurt. She met Tru and then they had a relationship, but he had his demons as well. Thank goodness for King, because Mercy needed him and he was always there. I loved this story because it showed how eventual your luck will run out if someone else is always bailing you out. Mercy learned a lesson being around Tru how her mother felt about her always doing wrong and thinking that it was ok because she will handle it. I would love to see if their would be another book about what happens next with Mercy. Phoenix Ash you have a new fan!!!
Nooooooooooooooooo! I wasnt ready for the story to end. Will there be another book? Is the storyline over? It can't be! As soon as I get entangled in the Drama, it stops. Just like Soiled Sheets, this was unexpected. I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to hear what happens with all of the characters. I'm left with a "Whoa!, Wait!, What happened?, Come on now!," expression. My anxiousness is overpowering me. A good book indeed!
This was like nothing I have ever read before. The details, the descriptions! My My My! I have never read a book by this author before, but I can assure you that I will be checking out their entire catalog. It was beyond words. I could see everything in my mind and feel every emotion. This was amazing. Wish it wasn't the end and I hope Mercy gets her happily ever after
This girl has been through a lot. Watching your best friend did in front of you knowing you played a part in her death. Tru didn't really want Mercy. King is the one who truly wanted her. Good book.
