When the Devil's in the details, there'll be hell to pay...
The de Moray witches are back, and this time, they have to battle to protect each other, and their hearts, from the four sexy Horsemen of the Apocalypse. But who has the time to save the world when there are zombies wreaking havoc, a coven of well-meaning witches trying to destroy them, a sister who’s been knocked-up by Death himself, and a malevolent new enemy lurking in the shadows? As if that weren’t enough, the de Moray sisters will have a Devil of a time fighting the most sinister threat they’ve encountered yet...the wickedness within.

I must confess: I love conflictual love stories - to a degree. Those four talented writers have started a very enjoyable paranormal romance series, with a lot of action, angst, and humor. Reading between the lines, you can just feel the fun they had writing it, and guess there is a nice friendship going on here. A bit like the sisters, - any similarity with existing people is (not?) purely incidental :) I loved the first installment. My rating goes a bit down with this second one purely because of personal tastes: I've got a little problem with betrayal, and four huge guys ganging up to kill a woman, even if this woman is a powerful witch, well... it doesn't settle well with me. OK, I've got a problem with all mismatched fights : strong and weak, several against one : none of this settles well with me. Even worse, Usually, such plots are enough to make my ratings drop drastically. Except here. The sisters and their adversaries are just too entertaining, the story is too vivid and captivating. Thus, four stars.
I had this series on my to be read list, so when I was asked to review it, I was thrilled to get the chance. I hadn’t read the first book yet so I had to get to know the sisters. It didn’t take long at all. My appetite has been wetted even more to find out how it all began.
With four dangerous, sexy Horsemen watching their every move and the apocalypse looming overhead, what is a Witch to do? That is something you’ll have to read to find out. Tierra, Claire, Moira, and Aerin have a lot to worry about. Each one of them are constantly tested from start to finish. With no one to trust but each other, it is hard to maintain the closeness they have forged while forces beyond their control continue to try and tear them apart.
Things get dicey for the sisters and I found myself yelling you shouldn’t do that it’s a mistake! I don’t know how the authors did it but I love how they seamlessly melded these different stories together. They made them like chapters told by a different sister that continue on from one incident or situation to another without skipping a beat. Along with getting caught up from the beginning, I am also on the edge of my seat to see what they have in store for us with the next book.
Whoever thought to bring these 4 talented Authors together to write this fantastic series deserves a star! I long have been a fan of all of them so when the opportunity arose that I could read this book in exchange for a review I jumped at it. I would have pushed people out of my way if I had to. This is book 2 and I strongly suggest that you read the first book in the series first, believe me you won't be disappointed and you would want to know how it all started, I was unable to put it down and neglected some much needed housework until I finished it. Not only does it have a great storyline, and I love all the characters in it, I am especially fond of the four legged kind. It had me at the edge of my seat with plenty of action, suspense and some very steamy romance. Now that I have devoured it, I can read it again at a much slower pace and really savor it. I can't wait to find out what will happen next. Well done Ladies, well done.
Wickedly fun!!! If you've not read the first book in this series Which Witch is Which you definitely need to start there. Now where to begin ! WOW!!!! I was so honored to receive an advance copy of Which Witch is Wicked. I read the first one and loved loved loved it!!!!!!! So when these four amazing authors chose me. I immediately re read the first then dove head first into the second. Let me tell you they didn't miss a beat. The second is so wonderful i could not put it down. Run do not walk to grab your copy of this book it is an excellent choice. Well written with a story that leads you through twist and turns with lost of suspense and incredible drama. Not to mention the romance. Each of these authors on their own are incredible but together they are a powerhouse.
Oh ladies! You have not disappointed! Lots of suspense, action, steamy romance, and humor! If you have not read the first one I suggest you start there or you will be lost going into this one! I was glued to the book till I passed out and woke up and started all over again! These four ladies are freaking amazing all on their own. And for them to come together is unbelievable! I have decided that Cheeto is my absolute favorite. Had me actually lol! An absolute must read series!!!
The de Moray witches are back, and this time there's hell to pay....
Claire by Cindy Stark How does a fire witch battle her feelings for a sexy apocalyptic horseman when he's burned his way into her heart? In a world now plagued with signs of the four opened seals, Claire must choose between her loyalty to her sisters and her longing to embrace her taste for War. When faced with a new evil, will Claire's desperate attempt to fix the past incinerate them all?
Aerin by Kerrigan Byrne How does an air witch learn to fly when she's falling for the wrong man? With an army of vengeful undead rattling the gates, Aerin feels powerless to save her sisters from their ominous destiny. Turning to Pestilence for help is the first in a series of choices that might tempt her to embrace her darker nature. When faced with a whirlwind of dangerous decisions, she's left to wonder: does the end justify the means?
Tierra by Tiffinie Helmer How does an earth witch come to terms with the fact that she and Death created a life? Consumed with the terrifying possibility that she's carrying the antichrist, Tierra must also contend with her sisters dabbling in the dark arts. But will Tierra's newfound powers help stop the apocalypse or widen the growing chasm between them all?
Moira by Cynthia St. Aubin How does a water witch stay afloat when she finds herself at the mercy of a man who has none? Kidnapped by Conquest and separated from her sisters, Moira must face down not only the demons within herself, but also a force whose lust for power could destroy everything she loves. But when Moira learns of a new threat larger than anything she or her sisters had ever imagined, will joining forces with Conquest turn the tide for good...or evil?
The de Moray sisters will have a devil of a time fighting the most sinister threat they've encountered yet...the wickedness within.
My review :
I confess this second installment had me on edge as I much disliked how many of the characters turned against the others, each following its own agenda.
How I was upset at Claire, she is warned to trust very few and yet she does not listen, running straight in the trap set for her. When Dru did everything to prove her despite his role in the upcoming events, he will do everything for her. Aerin was no better, she let herself get caught by someone’s lie and turns her back to the basics of witchery. Tierra and Moira are finally the more reasonable of the group, even if things moved at a different pace for them.
And while the siblings are left hanging with a world turned upside-down and a rift between them, they begin to grasp what await them, if only they could listen to one another instead of always disrupting every attempt at serrions discussion. 4 stars
I was granted by the publisher Gnarly Wool Publishing, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
The quintuplet sisters Claire, Aerin, Tierra and Moira are back, and facing down stranger and scarier dangers as they inadvertently continue to open the seven seals, one by one. The four horsemen are still trying to stop the Apocalypse (with a capital A), each knowing that at least one of witches must die in order to prevent it from happening.
Determining which witch is to be whacked is a difficulty – each horseman has a thing for one of four bewitching ladies, and none of the men can seem to fulfill their honor-bound duty. There's a new player in town, dividing loyalties, and straining relationships.
With the number of unbroken seals dwindling and tensions mounting, the choice of which of the sisters will die may be taken out of the horsemen's hands.
“Isn't that the ultimate goal here?” Julian asked. “To end this nightmarish Apocalypse?” “They don't all have to die,” Dru reminded them. “Only one.”
Which Witch is Wicked? is the second book in the Witches of Port Townsend Series, and is a tight anthology penned by Cynthia St. Aubin, Kerrigan Byrne, Cindy Stark and Tiffinie Helmer. The first book in the series, Which Witch is Which? was released a year ago and ended on a semi-soft cliffhanger.
This second installment begins a week after the first book in the series ended. I highly recommend reading the first book before starting this one, even if you've already read it. While there is some exposition, there is not enough to cover all of the major events of the first book, and a refresher (or just plain fresh) read makes jumping into the story a lot smoother.
The stories are once again divided by sister, each written by a separate author. In the seamless style of the first book, there is a perfect flow without a discernible difference in overall voice from writer to writer. As a reader of all of these authors, I am amazed. They each have their own style, and the collaboration on this work is completely harmonious. None of their styles stand out, they just blend as though written by one person.
There is a little retreading of old ground here, in the form of reminders of the Apocalypse and the way to end it – causing the emotional turmoil of the couples. However, it is not tedious because it is woven into the intensifying of the relationships of the sisters, the men, as well as the romantic combinations.
More is at stake now, and that leads to character growth more on the part of the sisters than the horsemen. While the witches definitely stand out in my mind, I have trouble separating the horsemen. (Note: I fully admit, that may be a failure on my part.) The introduction of a new character acts as a catalyst for further discord. While not exactly being a fresh take on this particular villain, there's enough individuality and malice to keep the reader guessing.
The story moves along briskly and smoothly, with some short breathers. Due to the number of characters, there is a lot happening. I can't say I have the whole ending figured out, but there is some hefty foreshadowing which makes me wonder if it isn't a flashy red herring. Ending on another cliffhanger (not brutal, but obvious), the way is neatly paved for book three.
With humor, drama, action, and growing tension, this book has sidestepped the “sophomore slump”. I would say it's not quite as good as the first, but only by a very small margin. Along with other readers, I bemoan the time between releases, which attests to the power of the story.
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Cindy Stark offered me an advanced copy for an honest review. While I was thrilled with the opportunity to do so, I was also a bit hesitant because I had not read the first book in the series and this is not my usual genre of reading choice. However, I do enjoy this genre in TV/Movies so I thought why not? I am so glad that I said yes!
I have read other books by Cindy and enjoy her writing style and characters. I had not read any works by Kerrigan Byrne, Tiffinie Helmer or Cynthia St. Aubin, but that will most likely change after reading Which Witch is Wicked. I was pleased to find that these four authors combined stories effortlessly and seamlessly. If you read this book without knowing it was written by four separate authors, it wouldn’t be apparent. Well done ladies!
The de Moray sister witches are learning their powers, falling in love (and hate) with the four hot Horsemen of the Apocalypse, hiding from Lucifer and trying their hardest not to break any more Seals to end the world. Oh… and Zombies! And did I mention four hot Horsemen?
I would recommend that you read the first book in the series (I did not, however) to know how it all started. Without reading the first book in the series, it took me a bit to catch on to the sisters, to the horsemen and their history. I was able to grasp the back story because the characters are very well written and developed. Add in some action, drama, suspense and some humor and you have a great mix to keep reading.
I enjoyed this book and will pick up the first in the series that I missed and cannot wait for the third. Thank you Cindy for leading me to a new series and a new literary genre .
These books are fun! And perfect for October. They are cliffies, but the series is complete. Kinda cheeky, little bit angsty battle of the Witches and the Horsemen with a side of Lucifer thrown in. So I'm okay with it. Happy reading!
I received an ARC in exchange for a review. I was flattered that one of the authors asked me, but to be honest, this genre is not my usual cup of tea. I usually stay far away from fantasyland. However, I really like Cindy Stark’s Aspen series, so decided to give this a try.
At first I was a bit lost, being that this is book 2 and I didn’t read book 1. I really don’t think I understood much in the first witch’s story. However, once I figured out what was going on, I appreciated the humor, the fire, and the very good storytelling throughout. There was an element I always love – suspense. Twists and turns. I felt like I was reading an edgier, darker, more wicked version of the old TV show Bewitched! I like the concept of 4 identical witches and loved the different perspectives. At first that confused me, but then I got into it and loved the idea.
As I said, I’ve read Ms. Stark’s Aspen series, which is contemporary romance. It’s light and easy to read and cute, and I’ve always read each new release immediately. I was expecting the same level of writing here. I have to say, as much as I like her writing in the other series, this is even better. Despite it not being my favorite genre, I found her writing here to be more developed, more interesting, more thoughtful.
I think if you like fantasies and fairy tales, this is a great series for you. If not, I recommend trying something different and this is a great place to start. Advice: read book 1 first. 4 stars.
This was a bit of a revelation to me as this is not the type of book I would ever normally read, but was give an ARC copy to read by one of the authors Cindy Stark, for an honest review and really that’s why I read it as I have loved her other writings(Aspen and Retribution series) and I was intrigued.
It was my own fault as read this book first so it took a couple of chapters to get into the story, having read it I am glad that I read book 2 first as it gave me more of a momentum to read the first book. This book has it all suspense, steamy romance, drama, betrayal and tested loyalties with a touch of humour. I enjoyed the way the book was written, with each sister having her own chapter. There were twist and turns, and that this was experienced on both sides (guys & girls), this kept you reading. Some of the sisters I liked more than others and the fact that they had a darker side and how it was influenced and manipulated without them being aware was great. I have to admit I loved the four guys each with their own struggle both with the girls and with each other. Having never read any of the other authors this was a great way to introduce them and will look out for their books. A great read I would recommended this book to others even if it is not your normal read, it took me out of my comfort zone as have read stories with similar themes and they let me down so this was a huge surprise I am glad I was given the chance to read it.
Love this Second Book in the Series as much as the first.
The Characters are so engaging and feel yourself rooting for the sisters and hoping the horsemen will see the light and falling in love the their respective witch which with 2 other books still to come might fingers cross happen. I am sap for love.
This book contains lots ass kicking esp Zombies, Satan shows up and isn't at all what you except in someways and is in others. More of the seals are broken will the sisters be brought together by outside forces and not just the horse or will they realise before its to late that they are stronger together and the love they have for each other is powerful indeed
Which Witch is Wicked? Is book 2 in this fantastic series featuring 4 witches Tierra, Aerin, Claire, and Moira. They are up against the Four Horsemen fighting for their lives to avoid the apocalypse. With four men and four women they are evenly matched, or are they? In comes a new character, are they on the horsemen’s side or the witches? Only by reading will you find out. Can the horsemen do their job by killing one of the witches or are their attractions to the fair ladies getting in the way? Will the witches resist the charms of the horsemen? Read this second installment of the series to find out. You will not be disappointed until the very end when you realize you have to wait a whole year for book 3!
These wicked women have outdone themselves with this book! The first one was delightfully sinful. This book is positively devilish! With sex scenes dripping with fire and brimstone and a flatulent tea cup pig familiar, they've poured every possible ingredient into their cauldron. One witch pregnant with Death's spawn causes the hormones of the other three witchy sisters to take flight. Of course, the Horseman of the Apocalypse are convinced that they must stop them from riding this one to the end. Throw in a heaping helping of Lucifer's dominatrix style and self promoting antics and you have one hot read. A spellbinding 5 star read of Apocalyptic proportions! Looking forward to book three.
This has been a fun series and I can't wait for the next book to see where the witches and the Horsemen go from here. Poor Death, guy can't get a break, only trying to protect his baby mama and he gets sent to hell....literally. Glad that the Horseman are waking up to Lucy and her machinations. This can't be read as a standalone, you need to pick up the first to understand how this current apocalypse all came about.
This is a re-release of the second book of the Witches of Port Townsend series. The series (3 books to date) is being re-released in anticipation of the upcoming 4th book.
The four separated-at-birth, identical sisters that were brought together in Which Witch is Which? are having a hard time figuring out what to do about the apocalypse that has been foretold. Everyone says they are responsible, but are they? Just because some (mostly) good witches are hooking up with the very sexy Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse does that mean the end is near?
Which Witch is Wicked introduces Lucy to Port Townsend. Posing as a high ranking witch, she installs herself at the local coven. Lucy is actually Lucifer and has an interesting history with the four horsemen. She orders them around like minions, and I haven’t decided if she actually has that authority, even if she does have the power. I’m sure you have figured out that Lucy will become a thorn the sister’s sides. Make that a thorn tree.
Lucy uses her skills of manipulation to try to win over some of the witches, while also trying to drive a wedge between the sisters and the horsemen. I kept thinking, why do those smart women even believe her? But Lucy is the devil and manipulation is her talent.
Zombies, flying fish, tea, brimstone, and fire mix with romance and danger, making Which Witch is Wicked an absorbing read. Even though each sister’s story is written by a different author, it reads like a continuous novel. If you enjoyed the first book, I think you will want to continue with this series. This book ends with a bigger cliffhanger than the first book did, but the time between installments is relatively short. So I will be patient!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Cannot believe it took me all month to get this one read, but it really started kind of awkward and slow for me and I nearly put it down. I just couldn't get hold of the story or relate to the characters the way I did in the first book. Some of the dialogue seemed pedantic and the 'action' scenes seemed forced and a little cheesy and convenient. Bit of a change from the first book that I could not put down! I stuck through it and about 50% in it finally picked up and got more interesting. I definitely wasn't fond of Bane's trickery to Tierra, but I LOVED her reaction and how she sent him literally to hell for it. GO GIRL! My hackles also definitely rose at Nick's treatment of Moira - don't care if he is Conquest, men using their physical strength to control women and using their body's natural reactions as evidence against the word "no" really rubs me the wrong way. Definitely doesn't do it for me. So, I struggled with that connection, though he did maybe, kind of sort of redeem himself a little at the end. I'm still invested in the Julian/Aerin and Dru/Claire combos and I definitely love to hate Lucy! She's a fabulously written villain and a unique take on the Devil! Loved all the connections and historical references as related to Lucy and the Horsemen! Overall this one hovered at a 3, but because it did pick up and kept me into most of the characters, I bumped it up. Have high hopes for the next two books though and definitely want a satisfying conclusion for the last two sisters left to fornicate with their horsemen counterparts! I've already downloaded the third book and will hopefully get to it this month!
DNF @ 60% Reaching 60% in this book was a struggle, I had to push myself to see what happens but I can't anymore.
In the first book in this series I liked that we get the 4 stories together, it introduced all the characters and the story and it worked for that book. But for this book where the story is building that structure didn't work. I found that by the time I connected with the two characters in focus and their story their section would be over and on to the other couple the story went, so this made it hard to connect and develop the character.
The other issues I had with this book - 1. The heroes are trying to kill either all or one of the sisters. I didn't see them trying to figure out the apocalypse situation and it was getting frustrating. 2. The heroines for being witches and very powerful ones at that who were facing the threat of death and/or apocalypse didn't really focus on preparing to fight for their lives and the world even. It was moaning about their hero, or being cooped up at home or some other shit. Ladies get your shit together. 3. Other than Tierra and Bane's paring I didn't like any other couple, I liked them as individuals and I thought their paring was interesting and would have enjoyed reading a book just focused on them. 4. The other three heroes were dicks and I don't see their "connection" with their heroine. 5. The other three heroines were no better really. And after all this I just couldn't find the strength in myself to carry on with this book and so I decided to call it quits.
There are four very different witches in this series and I can honestly say that I can identify a little with all of them. Maybe not so much of the witchy part, but I do like to think I have a little Earthy, Breezy, Flowy, and Firey in me...in my fashion sense. 😉
I definitely believe that my fashion is dictated by my moods and it seems like the fashion of these four witches is a true reflection of their personalities. Our earthy witch is all about the flowy skirts and billowing tops with crystals and gems to connect her to the earth. This air witch is all about power dressing and she is a controlling force to be reckoned with. The water witch is a little wild and reckless, shows a lot of skin, and takes pleasure with the moving tides. Finally, the firey witch is the temptress in leather...you get too close and you're sure to get burnt. Each of them is an individual, sexy, and powerful, and I understood why the Four Horsemen was drawn to these witches.
Loving how this series is progressing but hate to see them struggling while they are getting to know each other better. It's fun to see their powers develop and what new secret will be unveiled.
I will definitely be going on in this series...I'M ADDICTED!
Just when you think you have the Horsemen and the Witches figured out, Lucy joins the mix. Each witch has her own story of conflicts with her Horseman and battling Lucy, the one who shall not be named. Things get heated, in the bedroom and out. There’s plenty of humor when Lucy comes out to play, she’s actually quite likeable when she’s not trying to take someone’s soul. The ultimate challenge is trying not to end the world or get each other killed by their man. At this point I have to say Moira is my favorite, her sass is top notch and hysterical. Each book has four continuous stories, one written by each author for their own witch. Therefore you need to read from the beginning and preferably from the series starter. I was excited to receive my early copy from the authors and have written this review voluntarily.
Looks like the author who wrote Tierra's story was not in the meeting with the other three when they were writing about this book series. On the first book, when she talked about the familiars, she totally forgot about Doctor Lecter, and then misspelled its name on the second book. Then s/he totally missed on Malcolm de Moray being mentioned in the first book that made Tierra ignorant on who he was on the second book! This novelist's writing does not jive/vibe with the other three, and totally threw off some characters' personality in disarray. I'm thinking of just skipping Tierra's story altogether in books 3 and 4, and just piece together what happened to her from reading Moira's, Aerin's, and Sinclaire's stories.
Which Witch is Wicked? The Witches of Port Townsend Book 2 continues the tale of the De Moray sisters and their plight to survive, yet not bring about the destruction of the world. Each witch tackles their demons in the form of the Four Horseman. However, in this installment, we are introduced to another character who wreaks havoc on everyone. Again, authors Kerrigan Byrne, Tiffinie Helmer, Cynthia St. Aubin and Cindy Stark sew together seamlessly, the tales of each witch and her Horseman. Each character reveals more depth than previously divulged. It added another dimension to the plot line. I enjoyed this continuing saga and look forward to the next installment.
The newly reunited de Moray sisters cannot seem to stop themselves from opening seals and accidentally bringing on the apocalypse.
Readers are in for an adventure in this second installment of The Witches of Port Townsend. The sisters must battle the horsemen, zombies, and the devil herself as they struggle to hold on to one another.
As with book one in this series, the writing flows well from author to author. The story continues seamlessly despite being told from at least 8 perspectives. I listened to the audiobook and was amazed by the narrator’s ability to portray so many characters, each with their own accent or inflection.
I found this story to be a funny, witty, charming continuation from Which Witch is Which.
This is the second in the series and I couldn't wait to read it. Each witch has their own section written by a different author so some are more steamy than others. In this book we are introduced to "Lucy" otherwise known as Lucifer. It is very interesting to have Lucifer has a female and the battles fought between them are different as the horsemen are suppose to be on Lucifer's side but it doesn't always work out that way. I found myself laughing multiple times when reading and can honestly say I can't wait for the next book.
Received this copy to review. This is book 2 in the “Witches of Port Townsend” series by Cynthia St. Aubin, Cindy Stark, Kerrigan Byrne, and Tiffinie Helmer. These four amazing authors tell the Apocalyptic story of four sisters finding out who they are and of the four men destined to destroy them. Will their destinies reveal love or destruction? If you love steam and the supernatural then this series is for you. Impatiently waiting for the next book!
Sexy, sassy, and snarky the de Moray sisters, along with their horseman, deliver a wild ride. The zany antics make for a fast paced read. It's steamy and sweet and at times downright hilarious. I particularly get a kick out of the mouth on Moira. There are some interesting reveals as well as an infuriating new foe. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for book three! I love the imaginations of these authors and the writing blends seamlessly from sister to sister.
Ahhh... I'm loving this series and wishing I had more free time to read more quickly! I think it's brilliant that four different authors tackled this concept to give each sister her own unique voice since they are identical except for eye color - but it's not just their manner of speaking, or dress. Each gets a rich inner monologue, doubts and quirks. Bring on the apocalypse! Or not. They're weighing their options...
