Fitted Up: A True Story of Police Betrayal, Conspiracy and Cover Up

Rate this book

As army veteran Bill Johnstone watched his garage business burn to the ground, he was certain the fire had been started deliberately. And when the police failed to investigate, he complained.

Johnstone then made a shocking discovery: an extensive criminal record had been applied to his name. He believes this was no accident but a malicious act by a police officer. Those few keyboard strokes were the catalyst for a high-stakes battle that consumed his life. What began as police incompetence, soon escalated into an extraordinary saga of betrayal, conspiracy and cover up.

This is the incredible true story of his decade-long fight for justice. In an age where our personal information is stored and shared digitally, it could happen to anyone.

This book is so repetitive and boring. It didn't need to be so long winded and dragged out.

I also disliked the toxic masculinity vibe. It's almost as if he asked the author to make sure he was portrayed as a super tough guy throughout the book. Which, I'm sure he was with his army past. But it all felt a bit cringe.

Never the less, I hope that his future is bright and I wish him well.

I followed this true story closely particularly with my Police knowledge of procedures etc. Things clearly went wrong for Bill Johnstone relative to the garage fire and how the police dealt with him.....or how they just did not deal with him. I found it hard to grasp how such enquiries did not take place at all.....I do grasp though how the overwhelming pressure of police work creates a long timescale in producing reports etc.......but I did find it hard to believe that Police just did not follow up on enquiries. But saying that......that’s how it was detailed and clearly something was. It done right. Bill Johnstone is clearly a bitter man and has not a good word to say about the Police.....and perhaps that is justified from how he narrates his experiences. Yes.....police do get things wrong and that will still happen within the criminal justice system and processes. It was good to read this book.....but please always remember that many Officers do work hard to do what is right for the public and long may that be the case.
