Meet The Kidnap Club...

If one is very, extremely desperate, then one may call on the services of a clandestine group of men.

The Kidnap Club—known to few—specialize in helping women out of difficult situations.

Arranged marriages to awful men, for example.

Miss Grace Beaumont is at her mercy of her uncle who is determined she marry the depraved Mr. Worthington. Desperate times call for…well, the Kidnap Club.

It seems insane. Perhaps it is. But anything is better than being married to that man.

Lord Nash Fitzroy has looked after many a kidnapee over the past few years, but none make him want to break the cardinal rules as much as Grace. Her determined spirit, quick wit, and, let’s be honest, her pretty looks have him struggling to remember his role in this.

Protector, defender, and occasional shoulder to cry on.

His way with women and the almost derelict offerings of his ancestral home as a hideaway make him a perfect pretend kidnapper. He doesn’t much mind the money involved either, seeing as his father cut him off.

Which means, he cannot afford to get this wrong. No matter how tempted he is to show Grace that Worthington is not a prime example of how a man should be and burn the damned rule book.

Capturing the Bride is the first in a steamy new Regency series by USA Today Bestselling author Samantha Holt and can be read as a standalone.

"The Kidnap Club". Protector of women, you need us, we are there! Oh my gosh I absolutely loved this ingenious concept! They had a strict set of rules though "No ruining, not even kisses." Yes, they were a trio that kept me laughing when we first meet them and our hero, Nash was the best!
Their next assignment was to kidnap a Miss Grace Beaumont who was being forced to marry before her 21st birthday to a vile man. Her uncle and the man were going to split her inheritance that she would get at that time.
Grace's wonderful aunt found out about the Club from one of her friends and got it all set up. Now Grace was in a carriage being "kidnapped" while clutching her cat Claude and getting no conversation from the masked man who was her kidnapper. She had hoped for a few words of comfort from him.
Wow, just loved this fun story! Nash and Grace together were a delight and you could see the sparks begin to catch.
Would Grace be saved from her uncle and his schemes and maybe find love? This and many other questions will be answered in the reading of this wonderfully delightful tale. As usual Samantha Holt brings another story that will pull you in and not let go until the end! Scrumptious!

I’ll sum this book up for you.

Her: I’m tiny and I love my cat.
Him: She’s so tiny and I hate her cat.
Both: I love you.
The end.

I can only imagine that’s how it ends because I DNF. It was incredibly boring. The hero came off as creepy with his intense attraction to her and the constant references to her tiny child like body. And the heroine was meant to be unlike other women but all she did was cry and act like she had a school girl crush. They had zero chemistry. I gave it an extra star because a Kidnap Club was an interesting idea. The execution however was like watching Cspan. I couldn’t be bothered.

Grace is a wonderful character. Blunt, tactless and so sweet. Nash is a fairly typical rogue who is trying to find his way on his own since being cut off from funds by his father. The kidnap club is a group of 3 gentlemen who assist women with escaping indefensible situations regarding marriage, engagement and family abuse. Nash is the one who looks after the women until they are sent to better situations. Grace is his latest charge and he is baffled and charmed by her. The story is funny and sweet as we watch Grace develops into the person she always wanted to be. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the repetition. Tell me Nash is poor or that Grace is logical through words and actions a few times but here it was part of the filler throughout the book. Too much. I skipped those areas and enjoyed the rest of the story very much.

La idea me ha parecido muy buena pero es cierto que luego el desarrollo...no es que esté mal, pero el tiempo del secuestro se me ha hecho algo largo.

Not going to lie, this book was a struggle to get through. To begin with, I saw nothing to indicate any chemistry or romantic feelings between these two. Grace is said to be "boy-like" and "child-like" in her size and lack of curves/other endowments, yet right off the bat Nash (a self-proclaimed rake) is immediately attracted to her sexually? Instead of coming across as lustful, it came across as creepy (especially when in the middle of the night Nash comes into her room to "check on her" and then HIDES instead of immediately letting her know he is there). Even the conversations between them felt stilted, (or in some cases downright obnoxious with the way Grace would ask him all sorts of personal questions AND take copious amounts of notes about him).

I also feel like this book could have done with another round or two of editing. If I had to read about Grace describing something as "nice", or saying "goodness" or Nash pointing to a "damp spot" on the house and talking about his "need of funds" I would have contemplated throwing my kindle. I almost did throw it when I had to read them arguing back and forth as to whether or not Grace "hurt" Nash for numerous sentences.

The final nail in this story's coffin for me was the absolutely anti-climatic ending. Seriously? After all the bullying/mistreatment we are lead to believe Grace and her aunt suffered whilst living in her uncle's house and that is how the author chooses to end things? Completely unbelievable for a man such as him to just sit meekly by while his wife moves out along with his niece.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure this book will appeal to others, it just wasn't for me and at this time it is doubtful if I would read more about the Kidnap Club.

I did like the characters of Grace and Nash. Grace was straightforward and had experienced a difficult life with her uncle. She was obsessed with note writing and analysing them. Nash was handsome and charming and had quite the reputation as a rake but he was kind at heart. Nash has problems with his father and is involved in the ‘kidnapping’ scheme to earn money as well as help those in trouble. As Grace and Nash come to know each other, Grace makes Nash look at his past in a different light. I did enjoy this story and the other two men in the story, Guy and Russell sound as though they have interesting back stories. I just felt that the second quarter of the books was a little slow, although there was plenty of action from halfway. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Different Kind of Story!
Grace is running away from an unwanted arranged marriage - straight into the arms of Nash, her protector.
He is a member of The Kidnap Club and his job is to look after the kidnapped ladies. He desperately fights his growing attraction to Grace who analyses everything including him, making notes and more notes and then she acts!
A fun romance with an interesting theme in the tongue in cheek kidnap aspect and a great show of camaraderie between all of its members.
I loved the tension between the two main characters and their feelings and thoughts and enjoyed this story very much. I look forward to more like this.

Oh dear! It started off o.k., but there were a few boring and repetitive parts that I skipped. The bloody cat got on my nerves, as did the kidnapped Grace. 2.5☆

An Enjoyable Romance Between A Rake and His “Hostage”
Welcome to The Kidnap Club (TKC) (Sorry no delicious Brad Pitt in this club) a club where mysterious men operate the clandestine service of kidnapping the women of Regency London’s Bon Ton.
If one is very, extremely desperate, then one may call on the services of TKC and trust that their kidnapping is in the hands of professionals.

What types of situations would a woman find herself in when she would choose to retain the services of TKC? It could really be anything; However, some of the most common are: Nefarious family members, Unwelcome Planned Marriage, Abusive Husbands, Controlling Guardians, Needing to be “ruined,” and any other desperate situation a lady may become involved.

Meet The Kidnap Club Members
Lord Nash Fitzroy he has the special position of protector, defender, and occasional shoulder to cry on while each kidnapee is with the club. His way with women and the almost derelict offerings of his ancestral home as a hideaway make him a perfect pretend kidnapper. Nash became a member of TKC when his life as a dissolute rake, who cared about nothing beyond satisfying his passions for women and gambling, finally catches up with him.

Marcus Russell, the tall, handsome, ex-soldier, carriage driving extraordinaire. Marcus is the muscle and the driver - I am sure we will learn more about Marcus in book two of the series.

Lord Guy Huntingdon, The Earl of Henleigh is a handsome, wealthy & single man…and a virgin. He started The Kidnap Club after his cousin begged him to help her escape her abusive marriage.

The Target
Miss Grace Beaumont is at her mercy of her uncle who is determined she marry the depraved Mr. Worthington. Desperate times call for…well, the Kidnap Club. It seems insane. Perhaps it is. But anything is better than being married to that man.

The Extra
Claude - the first tom cat in history to be kidnapped 😹

This is my first book from Author Samantha Holt and overall I enjoyed this story and will likely finish the series. The romance between the H/h was a little awkward at first since Nash originally states Grace was “child sized” and makes numerous comments about her lack of feminine physique. He changes his tune rather quickly and becomes enthralled with Grace’s body. I felt like the relationship between Nash & Grace was second thought to the kidnapping and hiding out aspect of the plot and would have enjoyed more “feelings and romance” between Nash & Grace. I also would have liked to see more of the details between Nash and his family, it was all very shallow in content and emotion. Additionally, this is a romance - would have loved some happily ever after content.

I did enjoy the rake “Nash” falling in love with the eccentric blue-stocking Grace - it just wasn’t as sweet as it could have been had we actually “seen” Nash behaving badly instead of the shallow tidbits that were shared.

Overall 3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️| 4 Flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥

CAPTURING THE BRIDE is the first book in The Kidnap Club series and we find a small group of men, some of them nobles, helping to kidnap and rescue ladies who are in situations detrimental to their physical wellbeing. Along comes Grace - soon-to-be heiress and about to be 'sold' by her uncle to a known wife-beater, possible killer. Luckily for Grace, her aunt arranges for her to be kidnapped!

This was a great story with Grace reminding me of Bones from the American TV show. Nash has never been with any of the rescuees before but Grace gets under his skin and he can't stop thinking about her. He is worried about sharing his whole past with Grace though as he has made mistakes and fears she would judge him harshly.

What follows is a story that has both steamy moments and also action as Nash and Grace try to keep her safe from harm. Guy and Russell make great supporting characters and I can't wait to learn more about them in future books (I hope).

The ending felt a bit rushed to me - as though the author had gone over the word-count and needed to finish. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Nash with his family and Grace as she slides back into society after her kidnapping.

All in all, this was a wonderful historical romance with a dash of suspense. Definitely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

I really enjoyed this one and would like to read the next two in the series. This was my first Samantha Holt book, and I loved the premise of The Kidnap Club.

Rather than face an arranged marriage, Grace's aunt arranges for her to be kidnapped and protected until Grace reaches her birthday which is also when she inherits. The kidnap club does just that and keeps her safely hidden away. But her fiance doesn't give up that easily. Nash is sworn to protect her, but in the process of getting to know Grace, falls hook, line, and sinker for her. While fighting his emotions (because he never gets too close to the women he helps protect) Grace feels the pull to Nash just as strong.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Steamy 🔥🔥🔥/5

Capturing the Bride by Samantha Holt is book One in The Kidnap Club Series. This is the story of Nash Fitzroy and Grace Beaumont.
Nash has been cut off by his father so he has come up with a way to earn money in addition to helping women escape bad situation by entering into the "Kidnap Club". There are rules for the 'kidnapper' but go by so when Grace is the one he is with it is very hard to not throw the rules out. Grace is at the mercy of her Uncle who plans to marry her off to a horrid man so what is she to do but be 'kidnapped'. What a great book and a great start to a series. I hope to read more from this series and author soon!

I wanted to give this a better rating, but in the end it fell short for me. The writing is enjoyable and the story is nice, but too much time is spent inside the two main characters' heads as they think the same thoughts about each other over and over. The part from when Grace was kidnapped until the action started was too long,in my opinion, and the part from the end of the kidnapping to the end of the book was rushed. I wanted to see Nash interact with his family. I wanted to See Nash interact with Grace! We slowly gain insight into the characters, which was nice, but then, BAM! the story resolves and it's over without the characters getting to resolve issues "on screen."

Promises to remain a captivating series brimming with tantalising characters!

Refreshingly different plotline that amuses, pulls you in with absorbing chemistry and meaty characters that make you want to look deeper and champion the couple from page one to the end.
Grace and Nash are an unlikely pairing at first glance but so perfect for each other. The romance builds and the connection blossoms and blooms through understanding and the desire to anaylse and delve deeper into each others core characters. Neither is what the other expected, but they can't help become immeasurably intrigued and unsettlingly drawn as they navigate being closeted in close confines until Grace can safety return home, as she atempts to escape the dastardly clutches of a repulsive and dangerous, forced betrothal. Passions flair, appreciation and admiration sparks and familarity grows into a pairing that brings the best out of each other. Grace is gaining confidence, free to express her feelings - Nash essentially gives her a voice and softens her edges. While Grace in return unbeknowningly forces him to reassess who he is, what he wants and who he is comfortable with being so he can not only be someone he can be proud off but someone she can respect.
A fun and witty read that really holds your attention and opens up a world of characters you can't help but want to get to know. A fabulous start to a series I can't wait to immerse myself in further.

This was a fun one. A little wordy but good. I ended up just enjoying this one. They stuck to the regency time. The author does a good job with the love scenes. They are sweet with no swear words or crude words. This book would be R rated for the couple of sex scenes.

The plot sounded interesting, the first chapters were nice, but while they were holed up in his castle the story was boring and I started skipping.
There was no chemistry between the MCs, nevertheless they payed no heed to convention and fornicated, unimaglinably for that time especially for an heir to a title.
Inconsistencies:
- It was never explained how her "fiancé" found her, beating the truth out of a boy doesn't explain how he thought that boy knew something.
-A farmboy who knows how to read is quite unusual for that time.
-suddenly her uncle is meek.

Not my cup of tea.

Great start to a new historical series. Grace’s uncle plans to marry her off and split her inheritance with the groom. Grace’s aunt has a plan to help her, she will be kidnapped by the Kidnap Club and ruined before being returned to London to claim her inheritance. Nash kidnaps Grace and sparks fly between them. Will they find their HEA? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama steam and a fun an entertaining couple. I really liked it.

This book was boring. The characters were flat, and I didn't like either of them. Many aspects were just not realistic. I was hoping for something fresh and new, and instead got a bunch of self talk, stilted dialogue, and no chemistry.

Grace Beaumont is at the mercury of her Uncle Charlie to marry the despicable Lord Worthington. Her uncle Charlie needs her to be married before Grace Inherits a fortune and becomes independent. Grace rejects her uncle's demand to marry Lord Worthingtons' knowing about the alleged death of his last wife which everyone knows was no accident. Grace believes he killed her and wants nothing to do with Lord Worthington. Enter Grace’s aunt Eloise who tells her about the ”The kidnap club.” She explains it is a secret club that kidnaps young women in similar situations as Grace. She agrees and soon is kidnapped to a far and away location only to meet her protector, provider, Lord Nash Fitzroy. He is a reformed rogue who was disinherited by his father for gambling his whole fortune away. Their first meeting is rocky when both Grace and Nash argue about Grace demanding to bring along her beloved cat, Claude, with her to a kidnapping. ( which is hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing) lol. Soon Grace settles in her new temporary home and wait for the ransom to come. The idea is to wait for the ransom from her uncle Charlie or Lord Worthington, return Grace to Uncle now ”ruined” resulting in no chance at finding her a husband. Meanwhile Nash and Grace get to know each other and eventually fall in love despite Lord Nash fighting it all the way. Lol. I loved this book! It was hilarious. It had me laughing all the way through. I loved the characters. Grace was smart and a bookworm and didn't hide it. Lord Nash was sheep in wolf's clothing. He was a rogue with a heart of gold. I loved that Nash fell in love with Grace’s brain first and not her body. Lol. The book is thrilling and adventurous. The love scenes are steamy and romantic. The outcome is different than what I expected. The very end is hilarious and satisfying. All in all, it is a very fun, read. I've heard so much about this author however, never got around to reading her books. I'm so glad I took a chance and finally read her. I will definitely go and find more of her books to read. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this first book in the Kidnap Club Series, away from the ballrooms and all the rules - it was fun, humorous, dangerous with blackmail, cut off by family & a forced betrothal. The characters were so much fun, although some evil ones did appear.

Lord Nash Fitzroy was a rake, a gambler & an heir to a viscount in his younger days but is no longer any of them. His father cut him off and tossed him out on his own & he hasn't seen or talked to them in years. He did meet up with an old university friend who told Nash of his plan for helping young women out of problems - like forced marriages, abusive husbands or fathers, etc. & Nash needed money so he agreed to be part of the operation. Nash's responsibility was to protect the lady when she was delivered to his home in the country until travel arrangements could be made for her.

Miss Grace Beaumont is being forced to marry a man so he will get a portion of her inheritance left to her by her father when he died. She will receive this money when she turns 21 years old which is just a few weeks away but her uncle & guardian is forcing her to marry a man before her 21st birthday when the inheritance will go to her new husband & he will cut her uncle a portion of the money. Her Aunt, whom has raised her since her father died, loves Grace & arranges for her to be kidnapped & hidden away until her 21st birthday when she can get her inheritance & then Grace & her aunt will move away.

Grace & her cat, Claude are kidnapped successfully & the meeting between her & Nash is such fun. There conversations are hilarious - Grace is an innocent but very intelligent, inquisitive & is not afraid to ask questions on any subject. Nash is worldly, handsome & smooth talking former rake who is thrown for a loop by this lady as she is so different from the society ladies he has met & she is smart & outspoken. The two of them caused me to laugh several times while the story kept me turning pages.

I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.

The framework for this series completely intrigues me: a small group of men who for a fee help women out of difficult circumstances, such as undesired marriage or abusive guardianship. That strikes me as an unusual endeavor in a patriarchal society.

Lord Nash Fitzroy looks after the kidnapees at his rundown, seemingly deserted ancestral home until they can be safely resituated. Despite his prior rakish living, Nash has promised to protect, defend, and comfort, but never seduce, a woman entrusted to him via the Kidnap Club. Since his father cut him off financially because of his gambling and dissolute lifestyle, Nash just wants his share of the fee to restore the estate.

Petite, intelligent Miss Grace Beaumont willingly submits to "kidnapping" in order to escape her greedy uncle's plan to wed her to a man she believes murdered his first wife. She must stay hidden until her twenty-first birthday in four weeks when she comes into her inheritance and can make her own choice about marriage or independent living.

As Grace keeps puzzling over Nash's past and family, Nash tries desperately to honor his promise to keep his hands, lips, and other appendages to himself. Attraction and affection refuse to be denied.
What is Nash hiding from Grace, and why? Do her uncle or fiance find Grace? How do the other members of the Kidnap Club react to Nash and Grace as a couple?

In places, the somewhat repetitive interior dialogue of the characters led me to skim or skip paragraphs until some action picked up again. The story dragged for me a bit. My emotional response to Nash surpassed that to Grace, although both experienced growth and epiphany by story's conclusion. Grace seemed too passive, and Nash too resentful through most of the story. Sexual encounters outside of marriage occur in this book.

Overall, I enjoyed the plot, and look forward to reading stories featuring the other men of the Kidnap Club.

Great concept for a sweet and charming Regency romance!

Grace Beaumont does not want to married, especially to a repugnant man like Worthington. Unfortunately, her uncle is in debt and her desire for independence means little to nothing to either men. Enter The Kidnap Club, a group of three men who make it their mission to help women escape from their unhappy situations by well… kidnapping them. Set up by her Aunt Eloise, Grace soon finds herself (along with her ugly cat, Claude), whisked away and placed right into the arms of Nash, her protector and guardian for the next month until she turns 21. And what happens when you put together a devilishly handsome and charming man with a blunt yet sweet and innocent woman? Why, love, of course!

I actually really enjoyed this historical romance. I love the concept of the Kidnap Club and I thought Nash and Grace were a great start to this set of books. The banter between them was playful and flirty and I laughed at some of their exchanges. I really appreciated that Grace had a spine, even if her decisions weren’t always the best. Many of the standard tropes were present – the villainous uncle and/or fiancé, Nash being more protective with Grace than any other women, both of them refusing to admit they actually like each other, and of course, the reformed rogue, but these are also all reasons why I keep coming back to historical romance time and time again. I did find the ending to be a little rushed and I wish there was more about Nash’s history than there was. In the end though, it is a light and delightful quick read that is easy to fall into.

Thank you Voracious Readers and Samantha Holt for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

The following are my thoughts as I read this book. Grace Beaumont…orphaned at eight years of age, taken in by her father’s sister and her husband, has a large inheritance that will go to her husband. Nash…heir to a viscountcy, lives at Guildham House, funds cut off by father so he must fend for himself. Ahh the H has found a way to make money and provide a service for the desperate. The h is in a situation that she has no idea how to get out of or even if she has the guts to do so. The h has finally met the H and she is shocked by her reaction to him. It seems the h has discovered that she finds the H attractive and believes something is wrong. The H is shocked that the h is causing him to consider breaking a vow to his friends/cohorts. Forced proximity always seems to bring the MCs closer, throw in a dastardly villain and relying/trusting one another is inevitable. Oh no the villain has discovered the possible location of the h and is desperately searching for her, this is intense. Someone has betrayed the H and his friends. The H has finally come clean with the h but she is not sure what to do with the revelation. The villain has found the h, but she is not the frightened girl he thought she was, LOL. The H has decided to make peace with his past. The h is no longer in danger but she is still unsure about her feelings for the H, pity. The h finally was able to make her own decisions and they led to HEA. I really did enjoy the story between the MCs. This is the first book in the Kidnap Club series. The h was so matter of fact in her thinking and actions that it made her adorable, the H also was cute because he tried hard not to be his old self. Overall, I liked the start of the series and look forward to reading the next book.

Charming Couple, Great Concept

I found this book delightful on several levels. First, I love the concept of this new series. There are three men who can be hired to kidnap a woman to get her away from an abusive husband or a bad situation or help spirit her to Gretna Green to wed a person not approved of by her family. This first book of the series truly holds promise. Both lead characters are quite different from each other, of course. That is part of the fun of a romance like this. But the way they felt and thought about each other was in such contrast to the way they acted toward each other that it opened up the novel for humorous incidents and funny conversations. I actually did laugh out loud at some things this couple said and got up to. Neither is what the other expects. Especially our poor hero, Nash. He assumes that the heroine will be like the other women who have been a part of the Kidnap Club’s escapades. But she is not on so many different levels. She's intelligent, down to earth, and very inquisitive. I loved one of the initial scenes in the garden when he is expecting her to have an emotional breakdown and offers her his handkerchief in case she needs to cry. He even says it like that, offering a brief embrace if that would assist her. She thinks he's just gone out of his mind. It was so well written. This book is a lot of fun, and I look forward to other books in this series as I hope they are as charming as this one.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
