He’s a small town single dad with a broken heart She’s a big city lawyer who would rather face a jury than a toddler
It’s not like lion shifter Shelley Powell hates children. She just doesn’t know what to do with them… or anything that doesn’t already have a place in her seemingly well-ordered life. But her new mate starter-pack apparently comes with not only an active little boy, but also a droolly dog... and an ex-wife who is everything she isn’t.
Bear shifter Dean James knows there’s more to the gorgeous lion shifter that waltzed into his auto shop than her perfect hair and stunning silver eyes. He can see past her fashionable facade straight to the hungry heart beneath and he knows that his is just the family to complete her.
Can he convince her that Green Valley, with its nosy neighbors and noisy kids, is the right place for a lonely city lioness?
BEARLY TOGETHER is a hot and humorous second chance paranormal shifter romance. If you’re looking for a sweet, steamy standalone with a guaranteed happy ever after and no cliffhangers, one-click today and fall in love with the tiny town of Green Valley.
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! This was a great book ! Shelley had a plan, a very organized plan. It all changed when she met Dean and his son Aaron. She doesn't know how to act around children. Dean has been hurt by his ex, but his son Aaron is so worth it. All was missing was his fated mate. Enter Shelley! Now what ! You will have to read the book to find out. Bingo agrees with me. Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
We’ve met Shelley before, and it should be noted that first impressions aren’t always the correct ones and that certainly shines a truth in “Bearly Together” as Shelley and Dean discover that they are mates – and, on the surface, two shifters couldn’t be more different. But… are they really?
Most of what you’d need to know can be found in the Cover Description. What you won’t find there is the emotion that this story brings to readers as carefully hidden secrets are revealed that show Shelley and Dean in a more realistic, true light. I enjoyed watching their walls come tumbling down as Shelley learns how to deal with children, and Dean finally lets go of the need to be everything to everyone except himself. We get the chance to run into some book friends from previous stories – and sometimes big brothers should know to keep their big mouths shut around little kids. Just sayin’
I had a blast with “Bearly Together”, but then I always do in the “Green Valley Shifters” series. If you’re in the mood for an uncomfortable romance, to watch two people (actually four) learn to open their lives and hearts to each other and start a new life, some sexy sizzle, and an adorable pup and kids then you’ll want to pick this one up real soon.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This was my favorite of the series (I haven't read the last one yet). Shelley and Dean both had a lot of learning and growing up do, and it played out really well.
Zoe Chant does the BEST JOB at writing kid characters. Typically in romances, they're cheesy, have ridiculous speech impediments, and are an annoying add in to the story. I love the kids in these books. They act like real kids, and add such a great layer of humor and levity.
I picked this up because I'm on the relevant Zoe's newsletter, and she mentioned it was available as a freebie, so I grabbed it. And... it was another book that was 'right on the border of high 3-star and low 4-star' for me. I've rounded up because I really have enjoyed a lot of the the other books this particular Zoe has written, but it was a close thing.
On the plus side, we have the fact that Dean, the MMC, has a great relationship with the mother of his child, and two of them communicate and act like grown-ass-adults who both put their child's welfare first, and they still have a decent amount of affection and respect for each other. PLUS, there's a solid friendship developing between Dean's ex and Shelley, our FMC. And honestly, I love both these tropes and wish we saw them more often in romance books. Plus, if a romance HAS to be 'fated mates' style, I like it when the mates in question actually have to develop a relationship with each other - fate doesn't just take care of all the logistics for them, which was what happened in this book.
But. The awkwardness. OMG, the freaking awkwardness. We have two awkward characters who get exponentially more awkward whenever they're in the same vicinity, and it got almost physically painful in some scenes. Plus, while I've read a few romances lately where I really ended up liking the kid character despite myself, this was NOT one of those books. Aaron was no doubt far more realistically written than the kids I've ended up liking, which unfortunately meant he annoyed the crap out of me. I'm sure there are people out there with more parental instinct than I have who'd find him adorable, but they are SO not me.
I think, based on this instalment that I can probably just skip the rest of the Green Valley Shifter books. And that's fine: not every book is going to work for every reader, and I'm actually glad to NOT have another series to dive into at this point.
I loved this single dad, fish out of water, fated mates romance. It had a wonderful mix of sweet, slight spice, laughs and real life issues plus a cute kid and a dorky dog. It just made my heart happy to read this love story. Dean is a bear shifter, a single dad to Aaron, owns two small businesses and is a volunteer fire fighter. Shelley is a lion shifter, a corporate attorney who is afraid of kids, and has panic attacks about her perceived inadequacies. They meet when Shelley is in small town Green Valley for her dad’s wedding and she brings her car to Dean’s auto shop. They realize immediately that they are mates but merging two very different lives will take some effort. The story has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, a bit of steam, laughs, cringe worthy moments, supportive and nosy townspeople, cute children, painful pasts, and lots of swoony love. The story was well written with relatable characters and an engaging storyline that made me feel all the things. I am loving this series.
Shelley is a lion shifter and a very practical woman. Dean is bear shifter and owns his own body shop and a parts place. He is also the father of seven year old Aaron. Shelley was living in a big city and decided to visit her father and brother in Green Valley. Shelley needed to have a mechanic look at her car before she was going to go home. Dean was the mechanic who figured out there was nothing wrong with the car. When they finally met, they figured out they were mates. Shelley hadn't had anything to do with kids so when she found out about Aaron she was a little shocked. But after she decided to move in with Dean and Aaron, she figured out that she wanted to be a part of the family. Now they are one big happy family.
I love this series. The stories are warm, the characters are interesting and fun, and they make me smile. But...the series is plagued with typos. Wrong words, duplicate sentences, sentences that don't make sense! And I find it infuriating. I know the author doesn't approve this, so who just doesn't care enough to do their job, and WHY are they still employed? I'd love to know the answer.
It's interesting that they r complete opposites on many things. Lol but the saying is opposites attract. Some xs kids want 2 do things that other kids do 2 fit in but that can lead 2 sumthing bad depending on what the situation is at the x. Even though he had a rough x in life taking on 2 much 4 everyone that he thought he had 2 do he gets a surprise that will mellow him out hopefully 4 his future.
I thought shelly was a interesting character, would of liked to see her open a shop she didn't have to run it but it would bring more to the small town and add more characters.I liked the complicated ex wife storyline, they are shifters and mates over ride other loved it was interesting how that all played out. This series is a easy read nothing to heavy a few bumps in getting to know each other and finding your place but all in all light.
Really enjoyed this series. I have now read a few of Zoe’s books and I love the quiet town with its nosy neighbours. I enjoy getting to know these people and their lives. I can’t get enough! I would love to see more from the wonderful town and it’s inhabitants. I enjoyed the tropical series even more! Keep writing.
I was excited to see Shelley and Dean as the star couple this time around, as we had met both in the previous book. I found Shelley very relatable and really felt invested in her struggles to figure out how to deal with a child she was not prepared for.
I enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. On my way to start the next book in the series
It was nice to see Shelly find her fated mate while in town for her father's marriage to Tawny (from book three). One look and that's all it took. Once she gets over her angst of being a mate and a stepmother life should be good - right? How both of them learn how to cope with their insecurities makes this a good read and gives us a HEA.
I highly recommend this fascinating book in this imaginative series. It is heartwarming, sweet, steamy, and deals with real life issues in sensitive and sometimes funny ways. Enjoy!
From the very first moment when she called a baby ‘thing’ and said ‘screw it’ in front of a kid I knew I’m gonna love it. Brilliant evening well spent giggling a lot.
What a great next step in this series! I loved all the scary kid moments with a shifter who finds her mate along with his seven year old son! Lots of humor in this one and a perfect story! Loved it! Great read!
Couldn't put it down loved the characters and the storyline and can't wait to read more in this series so it's a well deserved five stars and I would recommend it to everyone
Shelly in Green Valley for her dad's wedding, meets Dean when her car's making funny noises. Shelly's lion and Dean's bear shock the by screaming Mate!!! Follow the funny, convoluted trial and error path to the end.
This was fun. Melded families, pets, all meshed together with life's little set-backs and problems, make for page-turning fun. There are also moments where individuals discover they can accomplish more than they think.
Dean is running and can't seem to say no. Shelley is snobbish and uptight but somewhat of a wreck underneath. Throw in a seven year old and a dimwitted dog and you have the perfect recipe for love.
Beautiful sweet funny story. Just smiled the whole read. My mate has a a whole package; kid and dog and an ex-wife to boot. She was ok with the mate but the whole package throws her off. Can she be a mom.....
Beastly Together is a delightful, exciting, tender read. Dean is an attractive caring single Dad to Aaron with two A’s. LOL Shelley is a corporate city lawyer in town for her Dad’s wedding. Their romance is a sweet, feel good read!
They meet when she takes her car into the mechanic and it's Dean They are mates but she's terrified of children and he's a single dad and they are a package deal. Great story of how it all turns out.
Lion shifter Shelley is a contract lawyer with a phobia of children and messes. Then she unexpectedly meets her mate, Dean, a single dad bear shifter. Fun read!! 🦁 🐻
So cute! I love how Dean and Aaron melt Shelley's frigid heart and show her how to be the mom she was meant to be. Very romantic! Also very exciting that she stepped up to protect her new family! I love it!
One more heartwarming yet intriguing story from Zoe. Small town life at its finest, or nosiest? A fine example of the old adage ... The best laid plans, etc!
