Lyle Nicholson

His father, who died when Lyle was 15, was a story teller, something that Lyle adopted at an early age. His life would lead him to travels in Europe, then 5 years in a Monastery. He found he was not a good Monk, as poverty was easy - it was the chastity and obedience that was a stumbling block.
He left the Monastery in 1979, and met and married his wife in 1982. He would spend a few years working for companies, getting fired, starting business's that failed, until he finally started a sales agency that was a success. Lyle retired in 2011.
Retirement didn't work well for Lyle. His mind wanted to explore the regions he's experienced in both meditations and his extensive travels. This has resulted in the publication of one Novella, two Novels, and several free lance articles for magazines in Canada.
Lyle now resides in a small city in Western Canada where he continues to write his thrillers and mysteries with a twist.

Exceptionally well-written police procedural mystery. This is the first book I have read from this author, but it definitely won’t be my last. I loved how the twists and turns of these cases, which range from Canada to Ireland, were brought together in the culmination of the final chapters. This is a must read, and I highly recommend it.

Detective Bernadette Callaham and her partner investigate an attack on Father Dominic, an Irish Catholic priest, that occurs in the seminary in her town in Canada. The Father lives; however, he is in a coma.
A man claiming to be her uncle, Cahal Callahan, is found close to the seminary, running in the woods, after the event. His footprints are the only ones found in the snow leaving the scene of the crime. The constables arrest him. What will Bernadette do?
A second priest is presumed to have committed suicide by hanging. The coroner rules this out, creating more questions than answers.
Read to find out what the troubles in Ireland, a cult called Tuatha De’ Danann (People of the Goddess), and an Irish hit squad have in common with Detective Bernadette’s uncle, aunt, the IRA, DNA, and a millionaire by the name of Ronan Bronaugh.
This tale is a convoluted international tale of who-done-it that will keep you guessing until the end. Love the ending, endless possibilities for Detective Bernadett. (No, I’m not going to spoil it.)

Smooth as silk!
Nicholson writes a smooth tale. All of the Bernadette Callahan Mysteries have a good variety of characters that are interesting, with bad guys that eventually get punished, just the way we like to see it happen. We can only hope that the man writes for another 50 years

from the Rockies to the shores of the Emerald Isle…
This series just keeps getting better. Twists and turns to keep us guessing, an intriguing cast of characters, and for those of us who have grown old enough to be discerning, minimal bloodshed and zero graphic sex. A hearty two thumbs up.

Not so much
I enjoyed this novel very much, but I didn't feel it had the crisp dialogue of the earlier series. Of course I'm!looking forward to the further adventures of Sproket, Chris and Bernadette.

I liked Deadly Ancestors. The dialogue is well written. The author should consider getting a good editor, and help with research. Irish Travelers are not related to Roma gypsies. They are very different ethnic groups.

Good series
I have really enjoyed the series. I happened upon it by getting a free ebook and decided that I liked it enough to read the next one. If you haven't read the previous stories, this one will stand alone, but I would say the series is worth it.

Chilling
This whole series and story line just keep you wanting more. Bernadette has you captive as her character gets in and out of jams. Very exciting reading, I always want more. Kudos

You can’t pick your relatives, and if you have never met them you may not even recognize them as relatives, let alone like them, and other times you my have an instant connection. In this story the author will keep you guessing.

Well done detective story.
This comes at detecting from a fresh angle. An RCMP detective counters an assassination of a monk, and then stops bombings by a secret order of Irish Norwegian royalty. Aw hell, you just have to read it.

What a great book. Very intriguing. Not quite sure what will happen next. Always entertaining reading the Bernadette Callahan series. The books are getting better all the time.
