If you are looking for gentle romps through the flowers, with lovers holding hands and never making mistakes, then my books are not for you.

I don't write heroes or heroines, I write people with baggage, history and problems. My characters are flawed, they're messy, they make disastrous mistakes that are hard to come back from. My stories are not sweet or kind, they are dark and, at times, cruel. They deal with uncomfortable subjects and I do not apologise for it.

If you like plot twists, characters you don't think you'll ever grow to love but eventually do, sarcasm, dark paths and messy relationships, then come on in. The water may be deep and shark-infested, but I know the way out ...I promise.

2.75 highly conflicted STARS ★★✬✩✩
This book is for you if… you are are not irritated by a very rapey scene that is not properly addressed later on in the plot and still buy into the overall romance (technically you could just skip this book entirely, but the romance is still kinda cute. I'm conflicted, I know. Send help.). TW: rape - per my personal experienceS and triggers.

Preface.
If you've read some of my other reviews you know I'm not a fan of sexual violence. Can't help the trauma and am not sorry to let it show. If you're not triggered easily you can read the comments below this review to see whether this book is for you or not.

Overall.
Technically, I have several ratings for this book. If it weren't for this one scene that made me extremely uncomfortable and which I experienced and interpreted as rape-y, this would be my favourite romance in the Midnight Pack so far.

I've listened to the scene that disturbed me so much several times and didn't feel good about it even once. It triggered my past SA experiences every single time. Reading it (you may do so in the comments, as Siobhan took the care to actually copy it) changes my perspective a bit. I can see that not everyone may feel about this as I do. I suppose her pain was from him taking her virginity (which is a concept more than a fact) without her consent. But to mee it felt like Mac forces himself on Ava and enters her without permission although she says no, squirms away from him, is tense, says stop. I was only able to find one other review on here that mentions this/takes that scene into account as I do. It's not properly addressed on later in the book either and thus I find the framing insufficient either way. The communication in the area of Ava's sex life is terrible on both ends so I guess I stand partly corrected.

I think this is one of the first times I'm not entirely turned off by a scene that gave of rapey- vibes. The whole thing is woven into a very disturbing ‘I need to force you to mate with me so I can concentrate’ narrative, and if this doesn't sound like abusive, manipulative bullshit. Thus, if I tried to ignore all the terrible feelings in my stomach while reading that scene, this would be my favourite instalment in the series, around 4 STARS. After trying to get in a different viewpoint I'm not quite as uncomfortable but still, this entire scenario does sit extremely bad with me.

On the other hand, apart from the stuff mentioned above this is clearly the cutest romance in the midnight trifecta so far. Cormac spends some lovely alone time with Ava and is very encouraging in her taking her place at the top of the pack hierarchy without cushioning her too much or being like ‘Maybe they eat you, maybe they don't. Who cares, lol.’ It might be worth mentioning though that he's 15 years older than her.

I would wish to learn more about the dynamics of pack life, though. How do you ensure the safety of the territory, what functions do other people in the pack have, etc.

An additional bonbon of Midnight Torment is the fact that the background story is getting denser by the minute. I like romance but that alone is not enough to make a book interesting. The closer we get to the hunter's sect and the paranormal aspects outside the shifter packs, the better I understand the way L. Ann is picturing her world.

To conclude, I am helpless.

What’s happening.
Ava, abducted as a baby, is finally free of the hunter's sect and safe on the territory of the Midnight Pack. Slowly but steadily she internalises that not all want to harm her. Although at first irritated by- just short of afraid of - the pack leader Cormac, she slowly realises that his stance towards their relationship is not quite as unshared as she tries to insist it is.

Cormac is an alpha who holds his responsibilities seriously, and he’ll do anything to protect the pack he became in charge of at such a young age. When he comes across Ava, who has been trapped within the Hunter sect since she was a young child, he doesn’t know what to expect, what he does know is she may have information that could help him bring down the Hunters and protect his pack.

I really enjoyed this one and especially liked the heroine in this book (she’s my favourite heroine from the series). Ava is fiery, her spirit strong, her spirit having never been broken by the abuse she suffered at the hands of the Hunters.

I wasn’t keen on Cormac’s intimidation tactics at the start, especially him – it had me shifting uncomfortably.

Sam finally gets what he deserves in this one– hehhehe, is all I can say to what happens to him.

The misogyny of the Hunters of the sect, Sam and his father are part of, had me grimacing and peeved throughout the three books, and the women and young, who Cormac and his pack rescue have one hell of a road to recovery.

I’m hooked on this series. Midnight Torment is Mike Peterman’s best performance yet. The audiobook is over 10 hours and I still want more.

Cormac Jacobs is the leader of the midnight pack. He is supposed to mate with someone who isn’t his fated. Instead he’s made her and her father a promise. After everything that went down in the last book Cormac has to lead his pack against the hunters. Saving a girl is just the start. She could be the key to every.

Cormac has the patience’s of a saint when it comes to the new girl. She’s been through a lot and to gain her trust he’s willing to let her go.

Loved this book. The story was interesting and brought all the characters together. Cormac is a great leader.

I can’t wait for more in this series. ARC as part of a competition win.

Good conclusion to the trilogy. The h is almost feral and he patiently challenged her, treated her as an adult. He hid his shock when he realised who she was and how badly she had been treated. It's not sweet, I loved his lack of self awareness - he was clearly smitten. He made mistakes but he's an awesome Alpha. Loved their story and the insights into previous couple. I really like this author, best of all there are more books in this series.

Ok so this book was interesting in the lore we got about hunters, shifters and now werewolves. It wrapped some slather stories that ran through the other books. But as couples go I wasn’t invested in Mac and Ava at all and while both are interesting I wasn’t tied to them being together. However that epilogue where we got more Deke and Gemma made me wanna give the book a whole other star. Which is feel like is really worth noting.

Someone mentioned L. Ann employs the 'damaged female' trope too much. I'm not particularly against that. But every book of the Midnight Pack series has it, and it's escalating along with the Alpha-ness of the dudes:

Book 1: MC Cassie is recovering after a bad break-up and a bad relationship
Book 2: MC Gemma is recovering after being captured and raped
Book 3: MC Ava is recovering after being abducted and raised in a rape-cult, being beaten and starved

Wow. Was such an extreme really necessary? Especially given the author doesn't follow through on it.

1) Ava says she's never had food security in her life, fed on scraps (so obviously no balanced diet), she's visibly malnourished when we meet her. Yet she has long shiny hair (to her waist) and perfect skin. She drinks a glass of orange juice on an empty stomach after 3 days of not eating and enjoys it. What? That would have been excruciatingly painful and possibly fatal. It's like the author thinks malnourishment is the same as just being hungry and it has no consequences.

2) Presumably, Ava was kept in a basement her whole life. Yet she's not surprised or confused when she goes outside, to a restaurant, rides in a car. She reacts to all these things as familiar and normal. She knows how everything works. When ordering at a diner, she's stopped by not being able to read items on a menu, and not by the fact it's full of unfamiliar terms like 'waffles'. How does she know what dishes she likes? Ava also has a normal grammar and vocabulary. So someone taught her all these rules, but not how to read? Why?

3) Ava was constantly terrified of being raped. Yet she thought she was the daughter of the cult leader, he always checked on her and promised she would never be touched. And she wasn't. She never witnessed a rape either. She said most women had Stockholm syndrome and enjoyed being taken. So what is she terrified of and why? Presumably, she doesn't really know what rape is, it happens to everyone except her, and most around her say it's enjoyable. Her reaction to it is like that of a person raised under normal conditions. But she never had the chance of even seeing normal.

It's like writing a medieval novel and painting the horror of a peasant who has to kill a chicken. Well, yes, for a contemporary urban person it's totally horrifying. But for a medieval commoner, even human beheading was entertainment, so...

4) Ava was abducted 2 days after being born. She was raised in terrible conditions. Yet we don't know what life was really like for her. What did she do there the whole day for 19 years? She couldn't read. She wasn't taught anything. She didn't do any kind of work. Did she just watch TV? Stare at the wall?

5) Ava basically acts and reacts to everything like a totally normal girl. A little distrusting, feisty. It's as if she lived in the cult for a week as a guest after a normal upbringing, rather than was raised there. Having little physical contact, having no control over her environment, etc. would probably have caused some serious disorders. And she's feisty. Really? If the author is saying Ava is exceptionally resilient for supernatural reasons, then what was the point of even putting her into such extreme circumstances?

What else?

- Cormac was an okay hero. Though I found it funny he's supposed to be the Alpha of Alphas but has to remind everyone 'I'm Alpha here!!! Listen to me!!!' twice in every scene.

- The resolution of the plot was unsatisfying. Three books have been building up to this but I had a lot of questions left and some things didn't fit. The author changed her mind about the series being a trilogy, so maybe that's why, but still. It weakened the book.

- I liked Gemma and Deacon's epilogue. Shaun's role was good too.

- As in previous books, the romance doesn't occupy every moment in the book. There are important side-characters, things are happening - and that's the biggest virtue of this series for me

Overall I realize I pointed out lots of flaws here but it was still an entertaining and good read. I did like it.

So your always supposed to start these off with what did you like about it. What did you not like. Yeah yeah yeah. Blah blah blah.
What's NOT to like about this book. This entire series. I try and some days succeed ,to wait patiently for another book.
Usually this is where I say you don't have to read the other books, but for this series, ya kinda do. Each book is a story within itself, BUT, there's also a bit of a mystery going on. Sometimes its background noise, other times...not so much. It's kinda like a story within a story. Which is just more appealing.
Now, on to THIS book. Cormac...hmmm...
Cormac is the alpha. The big wig. The head cheese. The you better do as I say dude. Yeah that's him. He did NOT disapoint. He's everything I thought he'd be. And more. Ava, his love interest is a bit...timid to say the least. But, considering her background, not a big suprise there. She however learns to stand her ground. BOY does she!
I can't say a whole lot more without giving away to much about the storyline, so I'll just say, she fits right in lol.
Now, normally, im not big on shifter books. I say that because, its true. Nothing against them, just not usually my cup of tea. That was UNTIL a good friend gave me a recommendation to read one of L. Ann's books. Got me hooked. And then, I was introduced to Shaun - Midnight Touch for those of you that haven't started on this series yet. Then came Deacon (HE'S MINE!) Midnight Tempation. And that brings us to Cormac.Midnight Torment. These three hotties are brothers. Each one is an alpha, but Cormac is the designated head of their group. Each book is soooo worth your time.
So, this is MY recommendation to YOU. Start with book 1. You'll find out for yourself on just how THIS reader was made into a reader of shifter books.

This is the third book in this series, and the entire gang is in it, but the main story revolves around Mac and Ava. Mac is still trying to make the Sanctuary a safe place for his pack, and emotions are becoming frayed within the Sanctuary. However, Mac is a true alpha and is holding everything together, even though his world has just flipped on its axis. Bless his heart, he is literally walking around with the weight of the entire pack on his shoulders, who is there to help him?

The Hunters are stepping up their game and the crazy is just off the charts. Our poor heroes; Mac, Deacon, Shaun, are all struggling with their own issues while trying to keep the pack together and safe. The feels are there…so many feels!

This book has traitors, suspense, romance, a very domineering Alpha of the pack, and an even more feisty heroine, our little wolf Ava. But our little wolf may be just what the big bad wolf needs....maybe she is just stubborn enough to take on some of the pain the alpha carries.

The true horrors of what the hunters have been doing is coming to light and the evil is being revealed...I hate those hunters. I have revenge on the brain and seriously, those hunter need to go! The hurt that they have perpetrated upon others over the years....

You will cry, you will go WTH, you will cheer, and then you will get to the epilogue and go NOOOOOO, don’t end. These characters have burrowed into my heart and the storyline is fantastic! I am now I am off to read Midnight Hunt.

I recommend this entire series and am happy I found a new author to add to my one click list! Happy reading, grab a drink with this one…you are going to need it! Again, the highest recommendation I can give, is a reread... and this series deserves to be read not just once, but many times.

"I'm the alpha of this Pack, Ava. I'm demanding, controlling, domineering. I have to work at being gentle. It's not in my nature."
"I know what your nature is. You don't scare me."
"Oh, but I should."

Oh. My. Lord!! I really, really want to find this little fictional town and camp out at the front gate of the Sanctuary so I can try to snag me a sexy wolf!

Cormac. Alpha of the Midnight Pack. Ever since he was fifteen, there has been something, or someone that he sensed. So close, but just out of his reach. He learned to live with it, pushing it to the back of his mind and focusing on leading his Pack. Until her. When she shows up, it all becomes clear. But, can he trust her? Is she truly who she says she is? She's lived with the Hunters since she was a baby - could she have an ulterior motive? Is she a pawn in the deadly game the Hunters are playing with Cormac's kind? He may not have a choice but to trust her if his destiny has come to his front door. Now, he'll protect her with everything he has. But, will it be too late to save them all?

Ava is finally free of the Hunters. Her mother told her tales of the "one" that would come for her. The one that would rescue her. She never believed it - until him. Could the markings she was born with really mean what he says it does? She doesn't know if she can trust him, but there is no denying the link they share. Could he be her destiny? When the Hunters put their plan in to place, can she and Cormac, and the rest of the Pack finally put an end to this bloodshed? Or, will it be the end of them all?

GAH! This series is just amazing!! These shifters are so dang sexy!! I can't get enough!! Cormac and Ava's story is just wonderful. There's love, sensuality, danger, suspense, and Holy Hannah those sexy scenes! I felt bad for Isabella but hopefully, she'll get her happy ever after too. I can't wait for the next book!

I finished this last night and couldn’t sleep because I had so many thoughts about it. Non-spoiler edition of this is going to be short, because I want to really dig into this. It was so good, and it was the perfect end to the trio, (although at the end a note from the author indicates others are coming! Insert eyebrow wag here). If you want the full disclosure version of this, join me of at my blog.

This part of the story is seen from the point of view of Cormac and his mate, with a few instances of the view changing to Shaun, Deacon, Cassie, and Gemma. Those switches are few, and are placed strategically through out to support what is happening with Cormac and said mate. No, I’m not going to say who his mate it… you’ll need the spoiler edition for that.

Needless to say, Cormac is a complex character. His mantle of leadership makes him a hard man to feel close to, even as a reader. This book delves into the reasons behind his aloofness, the grander scheme of his powers, and finding his character a balance of authority and gooey snuggliness. He’s like an M&M… wait no… that’s not quite right. He’s like a Gobstopper, layers of crack your teeth hardness, but inside is a slightly softer, super sweet middle that you just have to be committed to getting to. His mate, for sure, brings out the best in him, and she is a perfect match for him.

His mate is also complex, and because of the overarching action this series is set in, her story doesn’t develop as organically as I would have liked. I feel like her character would have struggled a lot harder against their situation, but because of the overall pace of what was happening with the hunter sect, there wasn’t time to get her character from her original state, to one of Pack Alpha’s mate.

I mean, if her character had more time she would have come to the same place, so I can easily “forgive” kind of forcing her to develop more quickly, there wasn’t another choice really. Cormac flat out needed her in order to do what he did in this book. Her character was integral to developing his. I could have used another hundred pages of this story though! Give me more. I need more. So good.

What happens with the hunter sect, was excellent. So satisfying. There are some subtle twists with that which are really good. Basically, everyone gets what’s coming to them. That means that at the end of this there is some gore. It’s not terrible, but there are some intestines that end up ripped out, and missing throats. It’s not really turn your stomach kind of detail, and you basically feel like it’s 100% justified, so it’s not that bad.

As with the other books, this one deasl with some dark themes involving rape and abuse. It’s only fair to give fair warning on this one, as well, that there are things which could be triggering for some. Here is what I love about this series though, it’s about healing. All of these characters have been to hell and back one way or another, and it’s really about them discovering themselves after being in horrifying situations, and finding healing. It’s about people who love each other through their faults, through their damage, and stick together because they’re better together than they are apart.

I do feel like this one is the most tame of the three in terms of sex too. Considering Cormac and his mate, it’s a choice that makes sense. It walks the line of intense dominance, and naivety. So there is some kind of “fade to black” in this one that isn’t present in the others. Don’t worry, there is still steamy, hot sex, but I think there are fewer instances of it than in the other two.

I love this series. It’s one I will probably read again, because I do love these characters. Reading it over again will likely bring new insight to them now that I have a more complete understanding of them. This is a really well written and well thought out story. As soon as I finished this book I got into L. Ann’s reader group on facebook and asked for an ETA on the next installment mentioned at the end of it, because I’m obnoxious like that. So, yeah, this one comes highly recommended.

If you want more of my thoughts on this one, (of which I have MANY), come join me at bookishlybye.wordpress.com where I'll dig into more of what I loved.

So this is book 3 of the Midnight Pack Series and this series just keeps getting better and better. This is Cormac and Ava's story and i just love these two characters.
Cormac is the alpha of the Midnight pack and the hunters are determined to destroy his pack, Ava is the female they rescued from the hunters but there is more between them than they first thought. But can he find a way for Ava to trust him while trying to keep her and the pack safe from the hunters.
So i have been excited to read this book after loving the first 2 in the series and i was lucky enough to be given an ARC copy to read and review. This book continues on from the first two books but is still its own story. I love that all the characters we know and love are in the book.
I love L. Ann's writing and i always get sucked in and have trouble putting them down. If you haven't read them yet i highly recommend this whole series, you wont regret it.

Midnight Torment is by far the best in this series so far. OMG Cormac Jacobs ( fans self) is so hot. This third book carries on from midnight temptation and it follows Cormac and Ava’s story.
She is captured by the pack from the hunters garden while trying to escape at the end of the last book and is quite a character. I love her fire and she has a soothing effect on Cormac the big alpha wolf. We get all the other pack members in there too so you won’t be disappointed.
The action is there as is the steam and not forgetting some really sweet stuff that you don’t expect from Mac.
There is a really great epilogue!! That’s all I’m saying about that. Fantastic read!!

it's out!! Now I can bite my nails to the quick while waiting for the NEXT one lol This book was epic. I think Mac's is my favorite so far. We get to find out more about the brother who keeps himself at arm's length from the rest of the pack, and we get answers to some of the questions we've been burning to ask. We also find out some interesting things about the hunter's sect, damien's involvement, and the hope they had for the midnight pack. Definitely worth 5 stars and 2 thumbs way way up.

Book three has arrived and don't we know it. The mysterious alpha of the midnight pack finally gets his story out there in this thrilling instalment of the series. We get everything we have come to expect from L. Ann - a world to get lost in, a gripping story and all the characters we've come to love in the series so far. I'm not going to give anything away about the story, but let's just say Midnight Torment lives up to and beyond all expectations.

Oh Hell Yes!!! Give me a feisty heroine, an action pact story line, and hero that melts this dark heart and I'm one happy reader!!!

As always, L. Ann delivered all this with her amazing dialogue and snarky humor that I have grown to love so much. The two main characters really hit the mark for me and the plot hit that level of intrigue that I crave. World building, writing and pacing were all on point!!!

Readers of PNR, don't miss this series.

Oh my!!! I can’t recommend this series enough! Cormac’s story is even more addicting than Shaun’s or Deacon’s! Read the series in order to fully understand the characters! I fell in love with each of them. They became family! Once again you will not be able to put this book down. If L Ann is the author I’m reading it!!! Read this series!!

This is the third book in this series and you have to read them in order. If you don’t you’ll be kinda lost. This book is about Mac and I couldn’t wait for his part of the story. It was definitely worth the wait! I loved this book so much! This is a series I will definitely be reading again. Especially since Lee has said there’s a fourth on in the works. Woo Hoo!

In this installment of the Midnight Pack series, we get to see more about Cormac and his position as Alpha. We learn about an event when he was 15 that hugely impacted his life, but isn’t fully realized until 21 years later. The details about about why his relationship is the way it is with Izzy is explained. Cormac, as Alpha, takes on a lot for the pack. He accepts his place as Alpha to the pack and fulfills that role to an extent that the pack doesn’t fully know. Enter Ava, and things get even more interesting. The way they first come together is a surprise to both of them, I feel. Ava hasn’t shared details of her life with the Hunters with Mac and he has misconceptions about her. I’ve read other reviews and can see how the personal experience of some readers could take Mac and Ava’s initial physical interaction in one way. Not having the history other readers have, to me the scene was different. The initial “no” from her made me feel she was trying to let him know it was new to her, but when she said the next “no,” that was different and Mac did stop. I enjoyed this story even more than the previous two, but I think it is caused by the fact that I am now invested with the Pack and this doesn’t seem like another book, just a continuation of the story. Deacon & Gemma, along with Shaun & Cassie are still present and we get to see their relationships continue to develop. Deacon, oh man, did you have me with tissues handy. That part of the book slayed me, but I know it needed to happen. On to the next installment...

There are a lot of shifter books/packs out there but for some reason I love this pack! I think it is the trifecta of the alpha wolves that snagged me.

This is the 3rd installment in Midnight Pack series and focuses on Cormac the alpha of the pack. His twin brothers, Shaun and Decaon, have large parts in the story as well. (They are also alphas but they serve as their brother's betas in this pack....thus the trifecta.)

Cormac/Mac became alpha of the Midnight pack at age 15 after a tragedy befalls his family and the family of close friends. Since that time he has felt a connection to something or someone but has never been able to touch that connection, so he pushes it back and learns to live with it. Until he rescues a young girl that is running from the local Hunter sect. His debate is whether he can trust her or if she has been sent by the Hunters to do finally take down the pack.... Mac knows who she is and he plans to protect her no matter what.

"I'm the alpha of this Pack, Ava. I'm demanding, controlling, domineering. I have to work at being gentle. It's not in my nature."
"I know what your nature is. You don't scare me."
"Oh, but I should."

Lots going on in this installment, but I can't tell you more without giving away anything! I will say that the series has used the "damaged female" character in every book, so far. (only 1 left to finish the series). There are brutal scenes for both male and females. If you know that going in and it isn't something that bothers you, I think you will enjoy this series.

4.6 stars

This series has exceeded my expectations. It is everything a reader could want regardless of the subgenre. The characters are vivacious and dynamic, the storyline is fresh and engaging, the suspense is titillating, and it comes with the perfect amount of steam.

This book didn't have as much of the humor/banter as I'm used to from the first two books but that didn't stop it from being my favorite. I LOVED Cormac.

I was sad thinking that this was over since the brothers all told their story. I'm glad to see that the story is continuing because there are a lot of characters that I'd love to read about.

I knew it would take a woman with a will of steel and just the right sass to bring Alpha Cormac to his knees

I never really thought about what Cormac as an Alpha sacrificed for his pack. It was never a sacrifice in his eyes he would give his life for his pack. Until Ava, I never considered the true weight he bore in silence. No wonder he was such a grumpy boy.
As the layers that are Cormac are peeled away we discover what was keeping his wolf close to the surface ~ agitated and unsettled. I shed a few silent tears for what he suffered but never truly understood. This shed light on a new side to Cormac that I enjoyed.

Ava ... she is his perfect match.
A fighter, a dreamer; A princess who took matters into her own hands when her prince failed to come. Friend or foe the pack still isn't sure. Despite her circumstances, little wolf's got a bite!
I don't want to give any spoilers up. Just keep an eye on this one.

As this wrapped up I did have some questions ... I know they will be answered in upcoming episodes but still inquiring minds and all- What about Isabel? Who is this Irish newcomer (yum)? What's up with Cooper? Who's the baby daddy? Where did the full blood come from? How do they know this wasn't an elaborate plot to infiltrate? Hmmm?

This is book three in this series and it just keeps getting better.
The cast and their secondary stories are interwoven in each book, though each episode spotlights a specific couple.
Packed full of suspense and "omg" twists that will keep you on edge and fighting not to peek ahead. Lots of antics and romance as well.
A full-on - check all the right boxes read!
A must own series for any PNR lover.
I read a comp copy

Can we just take a minute to admire these covers here? 😍 Awooga!!!

Let me just say I really enjoyed this series.
Each book looks at a different blokey from the trifecta.
My TBR has delayed my reading more, so now you're getting 2 for 1...

My review of Midnight Touch (book 1) reflected on how I loved Shaun, the good guy with a bad past.

Now, in book 2, the focus shifts to Deacon. Man, that guy's an a*hole! But a lovable one 😁
He's a lone wolf...or always has been until now.
Gemma has been through a LOT! And he forces her to face her problems head on.
I love their interactions. Snark meets snarkier!
Has Deacon bitten off more than he can chew?
There's a whole heap of action; the pack are being hunted.

Then in book 3, Midnight Torment, we get to see more of Cormac. He's always seemed to distant but then he is the alpha of the Midnight Pack.
Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? Well, everyone should be!!
The path to true love never runs smooth, and this book has so many challenges. Can any of them survive? Will Damien ever pay for his monstrous crimes?
Long-term plans are just rising to the surface.

I'm so conscious of spoilers here.
But, what we see in each book is that if you scratch the surface of big, rough, tough guys, you get to see their inner selves. There is goodness waiting for the right woman.
And make no mistake, the women in these books are tough cookies!

But what you get with these is so much more than testosterone-fuelled hotness. Sure, there's plenty of that. However, there's a lot of healing, overcoming difficulties. The work involved is real!

The possessiveness created by the mate-link is extreme - there is nothing the guys won't do to protect their females.

If you love shifters you HAVE to read this series!

My favorite so far. I loved this book! I love Mac and Ava! Deacon and Gemma, Shaun and Cassie - along with all the other characters we’ve come to know and love (or not) - are all back for this third book in the Midnight series. And Mac! Did I mention I love him? As the Alpha, he was always so aloof and emotionless in the other two books, but in Torment, we finally get to peel back the outer shell and see all the layers underneath (yum!). Which leads to Ava. Such a strong female character. She’s been through absolute hell but hasn’t lost her spunk. It was very satisfying to see her evolve and take ownership of her life and her relationship with Mac. I’ve probably said this in my other reviews of this series, but truly great character building and world building. There wasn’t one point in this book where I questioned the validity of either.

If you haven’t read the first two books, you’ll need to or you’ll be lost. There’s an over-arcing storyline that finally resolves in this book and the characters frequently reference past events leading up to current time. There’s a couple of twists in this book that had me on edge, I didn’t get a lot of sleep in some parts! It was tense, hot (really hot!), funny and heartbreakingly sad but it was mostly about love, family and overcoming the bad to live life to the fullest. I love that even though this is Mac’s book, we still get to catch up with the others and even get to see new events happen in both Shaun and Cassie’s and Deacon and Gemma’s lives. It all wraps up really nicely, with room for more (yay). Read this ya’ll. You won’t be disappointed.
