Peter's life gets more complicated with every passing day. His relationship with his vampire lover Lucien is on the rocks, he can't seem to get enough of his friend and confidant, Nikolas, and events going on inside the coven are making him wonder when everything is going to blow up in his face. Through murder investigations and negotiations with angels, Peter doesn't know who to trust, as old friendships and loyalties begin to shift and change.

Jealousy, intrigue and deception abound, and all Peter wants is for his life to get back to normal, if his life can ever be normal again. His love life is incredibly complicated, the Council wants him to get to work for them, and there's someone out there committing crimes who looks an awful lot like him.

Can Peter find a way to mend his broken friendships, fix what's wrong between him and Lucien, and keep the coven together when everything seems to be against them?

Soul Secrets continues Jourdan Lane's popular Soul Mates series, which features the novels Bound by Blood, Deceptions, and Sacrifice. Secrets also contains A Coven Christmas, a Soul Mates holiday story never before published in paperback!

I gave this book 3 stars instead of the 5 stars like I did the first 3 in the series. This one confused me a little I missed big parts of it like when the hell did Lucian and Sabaan bond. I feel like I almost missed a short story in there or something. Book 3 ended with them making up again as usual and this one started with one hell of a fight.
I do like the plot, suspense and where the author is taking the series but to many things bothered me in this one for me to give it a better rating. Silver should be indebted to Peter. The very least I would have thought they would be friends since Peter did sort-of-kinda help Silver take over the team. Yet in this one it's almost like Silver hates Peter. What the hell did I miss? The other thing that bothered me was when Lucien and Peter finally "made up" there on opposite ends of the room having sex with the same people they had been through the fight. Not together :(
Anyway for the most part I really liked this book but was disappointed after reading the first 3 where everything made sense and flowed so well. This one not so much. To many times I was left scratching my head wondering what the hell I missed.

Its difficult to review this one without letting my huge disappointment about the way the relationships have gone colour my judgement but in the end wonky, change on a dime characterisation and unfair treatment of characters is going to affect any verdict on a book. I kept buying the books because I was fascinated by the Peter/Lucien relationship and I really hoped there would be a solution to their relationship problems that had Peter choose Lucien. So much for that.

Having read all the books and codas - yes I was a loyal reader and bought them all - I think it's undeniable that Peter is the Mary Sue character in the series- the one everyone wants and adores and admires, and even when he makes mistakes or behaves badly, other characters make all the excuses for him. Peter always gets everything he wants, and people thank him for letting them give it to him.

Then I'd say the author's favourite character is without a doubt Nickolas and that's clear in the way she's shifted the emphasis of the romance and Peter's real passion, to him and away from poor old Lucien who's portrayed as unreasonable for hurting at Peter's treatment of him, and allowed to stay in Peters life only by accepting Nickolas. We're told that Peter had neglected him for Nickolas, we're told he's incredibly hurt and jealous, but we're not allowed to feel that he's right to hurt. I love complications in relationships but when the outcome is as unfair and biased as this, it's unpleasant.

TBH Peter's very rare moments of 'guilt' and his love for Lucien were so unconvincing that I very nearly gave up several times through this book. There was one single moment I believed he still loved Lucien - when Lucien came home at the start - and after that I didnt believe in it for one single second. All we got was weary condescension - 'Lucien's being unreasonable again' -like a parent with a toddler. I never felt Peter would suffer much if he lost him; in his head he was cut away already and he was just a tedious source of conflict. On the other hand it was made clear that Peter surrendering Nickolas would never be an option. In this book we clearly saw Peter choose Nickolas over Lucien though the author didnt have the nerve to make that entirely explicit but wimped out by adding Sabaan to the mix- and Lucien only held on to a place in Peter's bed by losing who he is and becoming yet another one of Peter's bitches.

The way the author used to write Lucien/Peter was beautiful and passionate (which lured me in to the series) until I assume she got bored with the pairing and couldn't hide it. Peter's inner thoughts while making love with Lucien are detached and all about the same-as-with-everyone-else-but-Nickolas mechanics of whats happening. Contrast the way she continually emphasises Peter's immense ecstasy with Nickolas and his devotion to him. The feeling is Peter makes love to Lucien out of habit and for comfort and its all a bit boring really compared with the true passion of sex with Nickolas. Frankly P/L in this book read like an old married couple, one of whom has really fallen out of love though still feeling alot of affection, and the cuckolded partner accepts he can only hold on by inviting the new adored young lover into the nest with them. Otherwise he gets left behind by the new love affair. Not the ideal menage really for all Lucien is suddenly and conveniently revealed to have wanted and admired Nickolas all along. Of course he does. Nickolas is almost as Mary Sue irresistible as Peter and he is naturally the one to fuck Lucien

For me the way Lucien is given that shameless character 180 - cornily, in the middle of a supposed fight to the death - to pull him into line with the P/N love in was the final straw because Lucien wasn't the one who should have had to have the epiphany. To leave any kind of belief in Peters love for Lucien, to restore any kind of balance, Peter should have been the one offering to surrender something to avoid losing him. Instead Peter's all weary acceptance that its over until then. Peter calls ALL the shots because Lucien loves him infinitely more than he loves Lucien. There no way round that simple fact for all the author smokescreen around it tied off with a generic L/P sex scene at the end presumably to try to convince us that the pairing is still believable, despite the story we have just read. If Lucien hadn't accepted it all, he'd have lost Peter because Peter would never choose him. Thats the bottom line made clear all through the book. Weren't we supposed to have noticed?

Sabaan exists as a character purely as a cheerleader for Peter and Nickolas and despite my faint hopes that his bond with Lucien might concentrate Peter's mind, it was never about that- Sabaan is there to try to make the P/N seem less unfair to Lucien. Unfortunately the lack of any passion between Lucien and Sabaan (they come across as friends who fuck) rather screws that one up because Sabaan is mainly devoted to the blessed Nickolas and Peter too. No one puts Lucien first emotionally.

The truth is Lucien has lost something precious to him, Peter and Nickolas and even Sabaan have gained. And yet Lucien's coming round to accepting this (with gratitude!) is shown as him finally being reasonable, because jealousy in Lucien is unacceptable if it gets in Peter's way. Peter feels no jealousy toward Lucien and Sabaan - not one single stray instant of it

Peter moving out of Lucien's room with no real sadness or worry of the effects on Lucien, then moving more stuff out with Nickolas lounging on the bed getting kisses was so cruel and yet we were meant to feel Lucien was unreasonable for his reaction. Peter felt no guilt, he just felt furious at Lucien for calling him. I came to loathe Peter for his callousness and his pale distress at the idea of losing Lucien. And the many people telling him he did nothing wrong (despite his many betrayals of Lucien) and he was pretty damned marvellous didn't help. Even Silver was punished by the author for the crime of pissing off Peter.

I came to desperately want Lucien to grow a spine finally - actually mean it about leaving Peter because the only way he was going to keep him was entirely on Peters terms. And so it transpired- it was all on Peters terms. I wanted some sign of real regret or true love or desperation about Lucien from Peter - but it never came. The most grief we saw was a very short crying jag that frankly could have been for any one of the people he's fucked and he was instantly reassured once again that nothing was his fault and everyone adores him. The aforementioned character transplant on cue had Lucien suddenly thrilled by Peter/Nickolas, desperate for Nickolas to take the last thing Peter had held on to as unique to Lucien - letting himself be fucked. The scene where Peter and Lucien finally reconcile by Lucien fucking Sabaan desultorily on the side as Nickolas finally fucks Peter to the fireworks and violins of true love and true passion was horrible - it felt like a final goodbye to Lucien/Peter and to Lucien as a character with backbone rather than a solution for them. For me Lucien/Peter is over, bar the meaningless fucking which even the author isn't interested in.

Im not going to go on with the series, which is probably just as well since I see the next one has been a long time coming. I rather regret the money Ive spent on it so far. If Id known it was going to drift so radically and permanently from the Peter/Lucien bond until Peter/Lucien reads like an afterthought in the Peter/Nickolas lovefest I'd have given up a lot of dollars ago.

"’Secrets hurt,’ I said softly. ‘And we've been carrying our own for a while now.’"

That statement by Peter sums up so much of what this book is about. Peter is dealing with the effects of secrets being kept both by him and by those around him. Lucien is keeping secrets from Peter. Peter is keeping secrets from Lucien. Simon is keeping secrets about his past from Peter and Peter is keeping secrets from Simon. Simon is keeping secrets from Rhys. Secrets are everywhere and they are putting stress on relationships, to the point of almost breaking what at times seemed to be unbreakable bonds.

There are so many dealings going on that are making Peter’s life complicated, to say the least. Peter has agreed to work for the Council for fifty years but in exchange wants a meeting with the angel Zephyr to discuss Simon’s situation. When the meeting happens, the result is not quite what Peter expected and now he needs to break the news to Simon. Two werewolves arrive from Colorado with news that upsets Nikolas and Peter tries to keep him from doing something drastic and quite dangerous. Peter is anxious to feed his vampire side, but is angered by the required security detail that inevitably scares off his chosen donors. Murders are being committed by a man who looks suspiciously like Peter and continues to evade capture. When the man gets way too close to the coven and Peter, it is the most unexpected that step up to protect him at all costs.

The core of this story is about Lucien and Peter and how Nikolas and Sabaan fit into the mix. Lucien and Peter have an intense bond and deep love, but Peter also is extremely close to Nikolas. As half-vampire and half-wolf, Peter’s two sides are in constant competition over who they desire. His vampire is drawn to Lucien, but his wolf is tied to Nikolas in the most undeniable way. Complicating matters is that Sabaan is tied to Lucien as his chosen servant. There is jealousy among the four of them over the closeness that some share and they struggle to find the right balance. Inevitably, Lucien and Nikolas come to blows but the result is one no one would have expected.

Soul Mates: Secrets is a tremendous book that continues where the previous stories left off. The plot is fast paced and the characters are well developed, especially after so many books. There is steamy sex, heated fights, danger and intrigue. The story is captivating at every step and demands attention from start to finish. This is a highly developed world filled with amazing characters and many of them are a part of this story. Lucien and Peter, of course, are at the center of all and their relationship continues to evolve and change, sometimes not in the best of ways. In this their relationship is as realistic as possible ~ there is plenty of angst and rocky parts at every turn that make it fascinating and gripping at all times. As two strong willed personalities, it is inevitable that things will not always be perfect but it makes the good times that much better.

What I love so much about this series is the range of characters, and how some melt into the background after they play their part and others move to the forefront. My personal favorites are Nikolas and Sabaan for so many different reasons and they play a large role in this story. Every time they are in a scene, whether together or apart, I am pulled into the story even more. In particular Nikolas’ development has been enchanting ~ he has been constantly battling his emotions to preserve his tough façade but in this book he is unable to deny his passionate feelings. Simon also reveals much more of himself, and it is surprising and heartbreaking. He is a character that has been a thread throughout the series but it is only recently that we are learning that he is so much more than just a servant. His layers are limitless and the future for him will undoubtedly be interesting.

This is another fantastic addition to an amazing series. I love the Soul Mates series and have read all of the books and stories multiple times. Readers will easily become immersed in the universe and its characters and be left wanting more. Once I started reading Soul Mates: Secrets I couldn’t put it down and in fact read it within a day. If not for my evil day job I would have finished after a couple of hours. I start reading about these characters and everything around me is gone and all I care about is the next page and what is going to happen next. The only sad part is that the story has to end, but hopefully Lane has many more stories planned within this world.

This book can most definitely be enjoyed on its own, but as always I highly recommend starting at the beginning and working your way through in order. Each book and story builds upon the previous so to get the full experience and to understand how the characters have developed it is best to read them from the beginning. The books in the series so far include Soul Mates: Bound by Blood, Soul Mates: Deceptions and Soul Mates: Sacrifice. There are also a few shorter stories A Coven Christmas, which is included in the print version of Soul Mates: Secrets, and “Possession” from the Spiked anthology.

There is also the story “Instinct” from the anthology The Call which on the surface may not appear to be part of the Soul Mates universe but the characters Ethan and Noah play a part in Soul Mates: Secrets. I really enjoyed seeing them in Soul Mates: Secrets as I enjoyed their story quite a bit and it was a pleasant surprise when they showed up with more than just a mention. As always, Soul Mates: Secrets has an ending that is quite perfect yet leaves the door open for more ~ I can’t wait to find out what Lane has in store for these characters!

It's a terrible thing but I'll start this review saying that Jourdan Lane disappoint me!
A little backgroud: Silver is a Brazilian character of her book...
Now read this:

After a quick change of clothes, I grabbed my phone and headed out. I was just about to walk out the side entrance when Silver caught up to me.
"Where do you think you're going?"
His Spanish accent was heavier tonight than it'd been since I'd first met him.

Silver is Brazilian, LIKE ME, so why he has a Spanish accent if we speak Portuguese in my country?

....in any case, regardless the little (more huge in my opinion) mistake about Brazilian language, this book deserve 5 stars.

It's more sexy now that Lucien and Peter are not a couple, but a quartet (can't say who are those 2 guys with them... it was a great surprise to me, so I'll let you too get surprised!).
There will be more suspense, and the plot is really interesting.

I would give 5 stars, BUT the HUGE offense to us, Brazilians, was too much and I can't say it's a perfect book.

**********************Editing from august 18***************************
The episode was cleared (book has now 5 stars) and I thanks Jourdan Lane for her immediate reply.
She never mean to say that Silver is a Brazilian that speak spanish. Silver's past will be better explain on the future books.
I don't know if the phrase Peter said will be modified, but modestly I suggest the add of a little more words to avoid the misunderstanding, like:
"His Spanish accent was heavier tonight than it'd been since I'd first met him, a strange fact since he told me he was from Brazil"

This way Peter POV will show to the writers that he knows that Silver should not have a Spanish accent.

Thanks Jourdan for your kindly reply , and pardon me for my offensive words on the previous version of this review

This is the 4th book in the Soul Mates Series. We find Peter and Lucien's relationship on the rocks, again. Peter is still trying to find a balance and someone is clearly still trying to kill him. But we do get to see Ethan & Noah from the story Instinct finally join the Coven. I think I would really read all the short stories I've read so far between Sacrifice & Secrets because it seems that's when they all occurred.

Ok, so the thing about this book is it feels incomplete. Peter & Lucien are once again on shaky ground (it seems they always are...)The mystery of the who bombed the club and blew up the club is discussed to, but not resolved. Add to that a vampire who looks like he committed suicide by Peter says something is off but he can't figure out what, but he is sure he didn't kill himself. Also a series a murders start happening and they seem to be attempting to implicate Peter as the cause. All the crime scenes have something off about them. Nikolas wants to go to Colorado to find Jake, the alpha that turned Ethan. There is a new Were in town in the Police department that plans on joining the Coven and hasn't managed to. There is some progress made on the Simon storyline. Oh, and there is a new Coven in town & Lucien seems to be experiencing more and more odd behavior... whoo, that's a lot of stuff and the only thing that gets resolved in this book is the relationship situation. Although that seems to be the case for everyone book. She seems to end every story with a HEA moment for Lucien & Peter only to start the nect book and let us know there are again problems.

Personally I think Peter needs to take a deep breath and keep his pants on for 5 minutes. I mean, he seems truly incapable of saying no to anyone who turnes him on, ever. And while the four seem to have settled into some kind of relationship, I have to wonder how long it will take for Peter to grow board and start sleeping with other men making this big mess of a relationship even more complicated. Also, despite the fact that everyone seems to be okay with things now, I still feel like it's just not an even relationship for everyone involved. But hey that's just me.

I liked this story, I just wish that something had gotten resolved. I'm thinking that maybe everything is connected- the new Coven the murders, the explosion the Wolf Police detective and Jake are all part of what's happening. I just haven't figured it out yet. Well, maybe the detective is part of the new coven and his is gaining the trust of Peter & Lucien to spy on them and learn the layout of the mansion and reporting back to his Coven... Jake's coven that he moved or maybe it's the Peter look a like's coven and Jake has nothing to do with it.... I'm just not sure...

I see this book came out about 2 years ago and as of now, she's still working on the new one, which I hope will be out before the year's end. I have to say that I don't know how motivated I will be to pick up the next book in this series, especially right away... Mostly because it's been 2 years and since she doesn't really backtrack for the readers benefit so even a few months from now I'll likely have to look up stuff. Also, I need something to be resolved besides the mess Peter has made of his relationships. Maybe a murder or something... just about anything would be nice. We also don't get to spend very much time with anyone except Lucien, Nikolas and Sabaan.

I don't know, I guess I'll just wait & see.. Ok, I'm off top read the 2 shorts.

The sixth story set in the Soul Mates series is aptly named. At different points in the book just about everyone is keeping a secret from someone else. Peter and Lucien are keeping secrets from each other, Simon is keeping secrets from everyone but Peter, Sabaan is helping Lucien keep his secrets and even Nikolas has a secret he's keeping.

As the tension rises between Peter and Lucien the bonds of their love will be severely tested and at times it will seem as if there's nothing good left between them. Peter is trying to deal with his vampire and werewolf sides and the fact that each side seems to need a different man. His vampire loves Lucien but his wolf's mate is Nikolas. As Peter's bond with Nikolas deepens it will add even more stress to Peter and Lucien's relationship because of Lucien's anger and jealousy.

As these issues are going on within the inner circle of the coven even bigger problems are heading their way. Murders are happening all over the city and the culprits seem to be werewolves and vampires. To make matters worse as time goes by it seems that someone may be trying to set up Peter to be the killer. Another problem is added to the mix when two werewolves are rescued and brought to the coven. These werewolves bring news that will directly affect Nikolas and add more stress for Peter.

In the meantime Peter accepts the Council position offered to him in exchange for a meeting with Zephyr, an angel who may be able to help Simon get back what was taken from him long ago. However, Peter's intervention in this may backfire and possibly make things worse for Simon.

Along with the main characters of the story, Lucien, Peter, Nikolas, Sabaan, Xander, Caleb, Simon and the rest of the coven we are introduced to new characters Zephyr and Tanner, a werewolf cop. Information is given into the possible identity of the person responsible for the murders and it seems that's going to be played out in the next book in the series, Soul Mates: Ascension.

As in all of the previous books the action is almost non-stop in this story and the sex is very hot and intense. Once again Jourdan Lane has written a great book that's sure to captivate you from page one until the very end. And when you get to the end you'll be left anxiously waiting for the next installment. Previous books in the series are Bound by Blood, Deceptions, Sacrifice and A Coven Christmas.

This is the 4th installment of the Soulmates series by Jourdan Lane and as far as I am concerned, it didn't dissapoint, although, it does leave you hanging on several things. This one is more of a stepping stone for the 5th book, or is setting you up for all of the events that are going to be happening next. There are two major cliff hangers in this one; one involving Peter and one involving Simon. I won't say what they are, because to do so would be to spoil this one if you haven't read it... so read it and you'll see ;o)

But here again, we find that Peter and Lucien find themselves back on Rocky ground with their relationship (it's not the lovefest that the 4th book was for them). Now that Peter has been turned, and he is part wolf, Nikolas recognizes him as his mate, so naturally, Lucien and Nikolas have some issues to deal with between the two of them where Peter is concerned. Also, this book is appropriately named, because both Peter and Lucien are keeping BIG secrets from each other, which is the cause for their issues (aside from the problems involving Nikolas).

We finally get to see Simon's true self and damn is he HOT!!! We also finally get to learn what happened to Simon (what he did to lose his wings), which I've been dying to know about.

We're getting a few more teasers about Peter's past. With murders happening at the local clubs, and the murderer looking dead on Peter, speculation abounds on who this look-alike could be.

There is something MAJOR going on with Lucien too that they have no explanation for, which is also another cliff hanger here.

Some new characters are introduced, and characters from the short stories have shown up so we are seeing some fresh faces that can be expanded upon. This series is by far one of my absolute most favorite paranormal m/m series and I certainly hope that Ms. Lane intends to keep it going indefinently. At least I hope it doesn't end anytime soon because I could happily go on reading this series for another few dozen books... at least :oD

Jourdan Lane has written a fantastic urban fantasy series that has kept me well entertained this past week. There are currently 4 books in the series with more to come I hope!
Peter is a human who catches the eye of the local master vampire Lucien. Much smex ensues. As their relationship develops, Peter becomes more involved in the coven and local supernatural politics. There is also the odd battle and intrigue abounds with human hunters, werewolves and the vampire ruling body.
Soul Mates has tight world building but with pretty much standard Vamp fair of councils, districts and werewolves in a serving capacity. But it feels fresh and it is cleanly written without too much distracting waffle.
The books are all in 1st person which I quite enjoy and I certainly liked Peter as a character. He is engaging and becoming more hardened as his responsibilities increase and there are things in the 3rd and 4th book you certainly would not have seen him do earlier on. Peter’s also a bit easy and suffers from a well lubed zipper! heh. He reminds me of Anita Blake, minus the bullshit, when it comes to sex and his partners which is all good! The other similarity is the frequency of the lurve. heh. Lane manages to move the story along at a cracking pace and it is incredibly easy to be 100 pages in before you realize it.

This is a 4.3 for me.
This one obviously merely a bridge to the following book which is awaiting to be published yet. The change of heart in Lucien is too drastic to comprehend fully. And the focus relationship seems has moved from Lucien&Peter to the polygamous one that involved Nikolas&Sabaan as well.

I love this series, but this book is al over the place, shifting characters to and fro. The plot jumps from one part to another, leaving bits and picking them up again. It makes both the characters and the plot weak. Once the story got going there suddenly is an epilogue.

I'm hoping that the next book will be more put together. That is, if there is a next book.

This was the best and the worst book of the Soul Mates series. I’m hopeful that she will conclude the series with a fifth book, (or tenth in the series depending on how you look at it), and redeem herself in doing so. The action was high paced and dangerous, the drama was crazy and emotional, and the fracking was just as hot as always. I was disappointed that it just ended without answering all the questions that were brought up at the beginning of the book.
It did take me this long to realize what Jourdan Lane and Simon were referring to when they were talking about soul mates. It’s never occurred to me that someone could have more than one soul mate, which does make for quite a few hostile fights and for some hot make-up fracking.
Peter is Lucien’s soul mate and bonded companion; however Peter is also Nikolas’ soul mate. And while Nikolas is Sabaan’s soul mate and companion, Sabaan is Lucien’s soul mate and bonded servant too. Also Lucien’s attraction to his other soul mate, Nikolas, is hidden behind his jealousy of Peter’s and Nikolas’ Lycan bond.
With all of these very fragile and highly volatile situations, the secrets that Sabaan, Nikolas, Lucien, Peter, and Simon are keeping from one another will tear both their relationships and the coven to shreds.

I am absolutely in love with all of the characters. This woman can write! The relationships are amazing and real... besides the whole supernatural thing, lol. But you really feel it. I fell fast and hard for Nicholas. Coming from the first book with Caleb being so in the middle, It was sort of like a sharp detour with the second and him falling off the main stage. It's all coming full-circle though. I love Sabaan; his tail and mischievousness is fabulous. I, of course, love Lucian and Peter is Peter, so he's amazing. I'm not really sure about Silver any more, which is a shame because he came off really likable in the earlier books, although gruff sometimes; and I like Lily. I like that Rhys was in this book (he's growing on me fast), even though he wasn't in it much, I'm hoping that him and Simon get a big storyline. I LOVE Simon. Something Logan said in the last book made me iffy for a second... I'm wondering if we're going to hear more about him in the next book. And I want Doc back. I miss the connection with Xander because it was so strong there for a while, but like I said, it's all coming back. I can't wait to see what this foursome and family are going to take on next. Seriously, her next book CANNOT come out fast enough. This one left us on more of a cliffhanger than the rest.... I love everything about her books.

This series is one hell of a read. All males, all vampires, all werewolves, a couple of angels, a demon and Peter (human, well not so much anymore.)What more could a girl ask for??? The series is full of passion, action, love and sex that drips from the pages. Jourdan Lane is one hell of a story teller. I devoured these books, I went to sleep thinking about all these wonderful men and woke up thinking about them, yeah it's that good. Peter, Lucien, Nickolas, Sabaan, Simon, Xander, all of them are incredible, beautiful, strong, and passionate. I can't express how much I love this series. It's a must read. The sexual tension and the sex just rolls of the pages and sucks the reader in. Peter is trying to fit in and continues to try and sort out his feelings for those in his inner circle, not knowing who he can trust except for Lucien. Lucien, a master vampire, sexy as hell, and leader of the coven and the love of Peter's life. Nickolas is a fierce, tough as nails, dom and werewolf who loves Peter so intensely. I love all of the characters. I love all the twists and turns and I can't wait for the next book in the series; Ascension. Don't hesitate to read this series I guarantee you'll love it. It's one series I will be reading again.

~Has spoilers from previous books and this one!!~

I really enjoyed this fourth installment of the Soul Mates series. Though it did seem much shorter than previous ones.

The book started out with Lucien and Peter's relationship sounding pretty rocky and one quickly gets absorbed in the world the author has created.

In this book I think we get to see a lot more of Peter as his wolf self but we also get to see more of his vampire side as well. Which I though was good because though we knew what he was I don't think we ever really got to see much of it--in detail, until this book.

Again, like with the last ones this book has really hot sex, but more great is who the sex is between! For those of you who have read the ones before--short stories included we all know there is stuff going on between Nikolas, Sabaan, Peter and Lucien. A lot of that gets resolved in this book but also more stuff that-- I don't think-- was completely settled in previous books. So to me this book kind of seems like the author is finally tying of those loose ends that made us ask whats going to happen now?

But we also get a good starting to go on for next books.

I would recommend to anyone who has read the first ones and m/m paranormal readers.

Gosh..........this book was emotional for me. Lucien and Peter's relationship is changing so much, I not sure I like the 4 of them "together". I understand that Nikolas and Peter are "wolf mates" but how can Peter and Lucien be soul mates then? I want it to be just Peter and Lucien. Lucien, Sabaan, Nikolas and Peter? I dunno, they're all just screwing each other and it seems to have lost some of that intimacy in this book.

O' don't get me wrong..........I LOVE the raw and dirty sex this book has but the connections seem a bit off to me.

I'm REALLY lovin Simon! Can't wait for more of him in the next book.
And Zypher? Peter's description of him had me visualizing and damn, which there were pictures in this book!

The storyline is moving along nicely and will be frustrating until the next book comes out whenever that will be. I know it won't be for a while yet.

This 4th book left BIG OL' cliffhangers. Will Simon be deemed worthy? Will Peter take over the pack as the true alpha? Who is it that is killing everyone and looks EXACTLY like Peter? His father, some long lost twin brother? God, this will be torture til the next book! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will give this book the same review I gave the first three books in this series Soul Mates: Bound by Blood, Soul Mates: Deception & Soul Mates: Sacrifice.

One of my down falls when it comes to reading, is that I read so many books that I can't remember ALOT of them, therefor it takes an amazing book that I literally can not put down for me to remember it, THIS IS ONE OF THOSE AMAZING BOOKS!

SOUL MATES: SECRETS has everything that I love in a vampire romance: sex, romance (dahh), passion, danger, blood, awesome supporting characters and of corse strong/sexy main characters.

I will not go into the plot and specific characters of the book because I think you should all read it for yourself, although i will say that i love every single character in this book. It also sets it up well for the next book in the series.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys any of the things that I have listed above.

Also I would like to add that I have read every book in this series at least 5 times, and I loved every word every single time I read it!

AND I can't wait to see if and when the next one comes out!

So far, it is the worst book in the Soul Mates series. For one, it seems that nobody bothered to proof read it: there are so many mistakes, that they not only annoy, but sometimes even make unclear what was meant. Another thing is the author's style. I would expect improvement from book to book, but this one dissapointed. It's bad to the point of words-parasites, unnecessary repeated over and over, like "flipped off" that can be seen in every chapter.
Aside from style and language, the plot is weak too. There are too many lines, questions, and threads left completely unresolved. The book leaves the impression of a pass-through thing, something in between two book, not a book of itself.
The erotic part also seems weak. I found only one scene that was realy hot - between Peter and Simon - and it's not elaborated enough. Everything else was just a repetition.

It took a little while for me to get into this one as it's been a long time since I read the earlier books but once I did I loved it. This book takes us deeper into the relationships between Peter and Lucien and Nikolas and Sabaan. The interactions between the four men are fascinating and complicated and kept me turning the pages. We finally find out some of Simon's secrets and Peter's attempts to help him go slightly wrong. There was a heart-stopping moment towards the end but everything turned out OK! The only disappointment for me in the story was that Silver is turning out to be a bit of a dick but maybe there will be an explanation for it. I hope eventually there will be another book in this series.

Wonderful continuation to the series. I admit I missed the short that was between books so I lost out on a few things and it has been a while since I read book 3. (Should have brushed up.) Still loved the story and the characters. I think it is interesting how Peter and Lucien's relationship is developing. Peter seems like such a slut but all things considered into it he isn't. Peter is just so open. I am not surprised he has had some difficulties in his relationships because of it. I really hope thing settle a bit for the group as far as their relationships go. The whole issue of the killer still has to be settled and I am looking forward to that.

If you like gay vampires this series is for you. Very well written and very erotic. The models on the cover of these books fit perfectly to the characters. And what a cast of characters.

Lucien, a vampire, seduces Peter. The first time they have sex, Petere lets Lucien bite him and their life together begins.

It has vampires, werewolves, demons, vampire hunters.

I really love vampire stories because there is always eroticism associated with them. I really would love to see a movie or series made out of this, but with all the adult scenes too. ;)

I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

★★★☆☆½
Since I haven't read the in-between novellas, I actually felt a bit lost - like when did Sabaan become such a big part of the story? Unfortunately a couple of the novellas are a little pricey for how many pages there are so I'll have to watch for a deal.

Anyway, back to the story - Does Peter cause drama or does it just follow him around? So many secrets from each other. And the bed-hopping was a bit confusing - but we're used to that in this series but I was having a challenge keeping up.

I love the characters and the story but am aggravated that the novellas are actually major plot points since that's not usually the case in series. I felt lost.

Excellent Erotica and Paranormal Romance. I have to say I am impressed with this author in the way she connects the reader with the characters in this story. The drama, action, and humor keeps the reader turning the pages and wanting more. I look forward to reading the next book to find out the on going soga of Lucien, Peter, Nikolas, and Sabaan. Also I am excited to find out what will happen at the trail for Simon. Will Peter's father/brother be caught and justice served. Its all up in the air so I will patiently wait for the next book.

Continuing the great M/M paranormal erotica in the SOUL MATES series, I really enjoyed SECRETS as well. Jourdan Lane does another great job getting the reader invested in the characters and the plot twists and turns. There are some definite questions left hanging in the air after this one about Simon, and Peter's father and brother. Don't want to give any spoilers but I definitely have some lingering questions that will keep me going with the series and following half vamp half were Peter. Ohhhh how I love me some Peter :)

I think this might be my favorite in the series because of all the new and mended relationships. I love Nikalos and Sabaan. Please don't get thrown out of the circle guys lol. This whole series is crazy, awesome with having a half breed (half vamp, half lycan) master, a horny yet loving incubus wereleopard demon, a fallen angel, and ..and..and orgies!. It's almost like watching an episode of True Blood lol. My only issue is that it was so short compared to the last three books. Can't wait to read book 5!

Oh my!!! The new future together is not going as well as Peter had hoped. Lucien is keeping secrets from him and they are causing a rift. And his secrets from Lucien are also in the way. Relationships come to a head, but Peter is finding out that "family" can cause a LOT of trouble.

Recommended as one of my favorites.

This book disappointed me when I compare it to the the earlier installments of the series. I felt like we had skipped important moments and the plot seemed thin. Overall I still love the series and the new dynamic of Peter's relationship
