He was that 14-year-old kid who couldn't believe what he was seeing when the Imperial Star Destroyer chased the rebel blockade runner over Tatooine in May 1977, and became lost in awe when the mothership appeared over Devil's Monument that same year.

“Humans who reach beyond themselves will fall. It is inevitable.”
This premise takes us to a totally new dimension, grittier and brutal, if possible. The transformation that takes hold of James is impressive and frightening! A cruel, egocentric, racist and spoiled hierarchy government in an alternate Earth is terrifying. Hard tech involved, military tactics employed, a completely different lay out from The Last Everything #1, but not less formidable. The morality to kill is highly debated, an intoxicant, justified or not.The intrigue, the secrets fuel enough mystery to pull you into the story. The deceptions are overwhelming, betrayal abound, not knowing who to trust, ups and downs a regular feeling, I didn’t know where I stood, so realistic are the descriptions and scenes, with real life characters. This has been a fantastic story! I highly recommend this series.

I'm dumbstruck by the scope and richness of this series
The concepts of this series is so sweeping and so tightly written it pulls you right into the midst of this reality. I read The Last of Everything and immediately had to buy and read this. I hoped that two books would be enough to contain the story, but there is still more. You can feel that this story took hold of the author and would not let go. The writing is very visual and packs an emotional punch. I won't forget the Chancellory any time soon.

Awesome book!!!
I loved this second book in the Impossible Future series. Great continuation of the first book, it picks up right where the first leaves off. No lag time, no delay, no messing around. Just moving right along with the story. This one takes some interesting twists and turns, takes you places unexpected and pretty wild. I really couldn't have predicted this one by a long shot! Makes it a must-read in my opinion.

An interesting second part of the series
The story on parallel Earth continues to thrive and things in the first book begin to fall into place. Good sci-fi story.
