One of my favourite series thus far!! I’ve read some amazing books in the past couple of years, but the Kingdom Cold series has firmly cemented itself in the top 5!

The twist on the classic Camelot tale is so ingenious which you are slowly fed into it in book 1. The plot itself is wonderfully original and then the clever way the author has re-worked Arthur and company into it is seamless and cool.

The characters are dynamic, full and rich. I found myself loving one character specifically more than the others. Which was great because I was apart of the story-I was invested. Each character grows and matures more with each book. The story creates a wonderful web with the way they are intertwined with one another which makes it complicated yet flawless.

As I was reading this series I could imagine everything that went on. The descriptions were spot on and engrossing. A lot of research has gone into these books and you can sense the love and dedication that clearly went into this work.

I urge everyone to read this series as I feel it will appeal to so many readers! I look forward to reading them again and I will be closely following the author. She has major talent and I see really big things for her in the future!

I couldn't put down a single book in this series. I binge read them, staying up all night to finish them. I loved the incredibly flawed characters, how they didn't always make the right call but you could really feel for them even in the bad choices. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get sucked into a story that doesn't let you go!

Black, Asian

Oh my gosh! I have actually been wanting to read this book for so long, and I finally had the chance to do it for a blog tour, and it did NOT disappoint me! Thank you again so much to Shealea and Brittni for this opportunity. I’m actually crying at how much I enjoyed my time reading this story.

So, one of the things that you probably wouldn’t have noticed until you read a little further in the first novel is that this is kind of retelling of the story of King Arthur and the Sword and the Stone, which wow that was actually super cool to realize! I already had shitty luck with one of them this year, and I was a little hesitant to read anything King Arthur related because I feel like he’s outdone, but this one was such a unique take on it, and I really enjoyed it.

Another thing that I really liked was that there was immediate diversity in this novel, and it wasn’t just for a plot device. I hate when authors add diversity for diversity’s sake, and this was not like that at all. Our main princess Charlotte is mixed – her father is black and her mom is possibly white – and the kingdom of Vires is Asian influenced. If you take the name Minseo, think Korean. Immediately I was intrigued because rarely do I see stories where BOTH of the MCs are POC and in positions of royalty. So that was a huge plus side for me right there.

Yaaaaas Queen
I loved seeing the character growth from both Charlotte and Young, and how even in the first novel before they were really seeing eye to eye, they were able to read one another in certain situations. I understand that it’s difficult to really know how someone is going to be especially if you have never met them before, but have been told you need to marry them to fulfill an agreement between two kingdoms, but when you’re in charge of the future of your kingdom, you do what you got to do.

Like I would know, but I mean. I can guess.

I don’t want to go too much into spoiler territory since this was three books into one basically, but I really liked that the whole Sword in the Stone bit was sneakily put in the first novel and mentioned so cavalier that I almost didn’t think twice about it. I actually thought it was just a story that one character was telling because he was such a pompous jerk.

Basically, you don’t know what you’re going to get when you first start this book, and then you’re along for a whole ride. It’s great, and Chenelle did such a great job with this trilogy that I can’t imaging not having the likes of Charlotte, Young, and Minseo in my life anymore.

I had the opportunity to read all three books in this trilogy and while some of the events are difficult to read since there is quite a bit of tragedy and violence given we are dealing with a battle for kingdoms, there is triumph and joy as well for those who realize that love and family are what really matter in the end. I would recommend these books for older teens as they do cover some difficult topics as they progress. This series lets you see the full progression of an author as she grows with her stories. Wonderful series with fully developed characters as the books progressed, here are my three individual reviews:

Book 1- Kingdom Cold: I received an ARC and Oh I am so glad I got the chance to read this book.
It has more twists and turns than a pretzel. It took a few chapters to get a picture of the story. It jumps from character to character telling the story from each one's perspective. I really like Charlotte, she really grew throughout this book from a spoiled princess to a dedicated queen. I found the love story sweet but a little lacking in buildup. I would have loved a little more world building and a description of the people and places to help the reader gain a better sense of the story. I'm sad with how it ended but no spoilers from me. I look forward to seeing what this author creates next.

Book 2- Kingdom Soul: Wow! the twists and turns of this second book kept me on the edge of my seat and reading late into the night. I loved getting bits and pieces of the story as told through each characters perspective, we get to know more about Charlotte, and Minseo, how they have survived since losing Young four years ago and where their lives have taken them. We get to meet Lancelot who was friends with Arthur and is helping to cover up the fact that the sword wasn't actually pulled from the stone by Arthur after all and just wants to become a knight and Merlin, the battle mage, surprise, a girl with lovely green hair who can control wind, and has visions, she starts to gain a new power at the end of the book. Merlin is looking for Charlotte who she believes shares similar powers and there is a prophecy that together Camelot can't be defeated... but Charlotte doesn't have power, however... her and Young's daughter, Morgana just might. We are left with a surprise no one could have expected, I won't spoil it for you, but I recommend reading this second book and I can't wait to read the third. I was given an ARC for my honest review and I am grateful for the chance to enjoy this authors amazing writing.
You feel with the characters, get mad, cry, want to yell at the unjust treatment of those who are different. There are amazing themes underlying the great fantasy story and this is a book that can be enjoyed by young and old alike.

Book 3- Kingdom Untold: Wow, this trilogy took me on a wild emotional crazy ride. While there are hints of medieval tales such as another version of Camelot, with a female Merlin who can control wind, water and fire, a vain Gwenevere and a Lancelot whose real name is Jeffrey… the underlying theme, I felt, is love. And what love will make you do, or what you will do for love.
In this third book, we get to see more of the motivations for each character, we grow more with Charlotte as she has to choose between the new love that has developed with Minseo and the man she thought was dead, returned from the grave as a surprise at the end of the second book, Young. We see how love motivates Charlotte to steal the dragon, Garix who she bonded with when it hatched in order to escape Camelot and return to her daughter, Morgana. We see both Young and Minseo battling in what love to choose, kingdom and country, or family and friends. You feel the struggle of betrayal when Merlin is left alone after Charlotte escapes and how love grows between her and Lancelot, after he realizes that what he feels for Gwen isn’t real after all.. You get to explore the thoughts and feelings of additional characters, bringing Young and Arthur into the alternating chapter perspectives and learning what they love as well.
The entire book is filled with adventure, sword battles, dragon fire, Morgana’s secret training by Young to use fire to help in the battle against King Arthur and other travels. We have romantic moments, suspense filled moments and heartbreaking moments. All culminates in the tragic death of the King of Vires during the battle with Camelot, the dragon running off and leaving Charlotte to fight with dagger alone and ending with the death of Arthur by Morgana’s fire, brought to the battle by Garix at the suggestion of Young, just when Charlotte had thought she was protected and away. We then see the fall of Merlin by Young’s sword, Lancelot by Minseo’s sword and Morgana by a slice of air sent by Merlin before her death. You mourn with Charlotte as she begs the heavens to take her instead and then sit stunned when the dragon Garix gives his life for Morgana to be returned. You feel the heart wrenching moment when Young realizes what he thought was most important, to save the kingdom really wasn’t and has to watch Charlotte walk away, with his daughter and his brother who will no longer acknowledge him as family since he chose the kingdom over all, using his own daughter to win.
The book ties it all together in the end with Charlotte expecting Minseo’s child and living with joy a simple life away from either kingdom. I laughed, cried and wanted to yell as I read this book so the author did an excellent job connecting you to the characters, I even felt a little sorry for the tyrant Arthur…
I absolutely loved reading this third book, and while there were times it was difficult to read due to the tragedy and violence, it resolved in the end and we find that love brings joy when we focus on what really matters, highly recommended! Just maybe not for younger teens given some of the violence and sensitive topics. This is a wonderful story that fully developed across the three books and is a fantastic read.

One of the things I love best about boxdets is the ability to read a story from it inception to it's conclusion without break. And this is one of those stories that needs that flow.

Brittni is a newer author, and being so new it was expected that her craft would grow with practice. And it did so, very well actually. In the beginning, we were told a story about a princess from one land, 2 princes from another land and a very petty, infantile King from yet another land. A forced marriage brought the princess to the castle of the 2 princes. While there she met her future husband, a young, well just barely a man who was shy and reticent and not easy to get to know. She also met his brother who was outgoing, fun and interesting to be around. There was a threat of war which had the whole castle on edge and her marriage was a way for one kingdom to join with the other in the hopes of keeping their freedom from the pillaging king. With all this tension, and with duty calling on them, both brothers reacted differently. So that left the princess extremely confused. In this book we experience war, teenagers forced into arranged marriages, and the confusion felt by those too young to be pressed into such important and everlasting duties.

So in book 1 the stage is set for tragedy and heartbreak. War has ruined the lives of many, and has caused our main characters grief and heartache.

In book 2, we follow the life of the princess who has lost her home to war and has had to make a life for herself without the auspices of any kingdom behind her. Posing as a commoner she finds herself making a life that is comfortable, if not wealthy, content if not happy.

We also follow the devastation of a prince who has suffered a major loss and is having difficulty dealing with both his grief and the guilt he feels for letting the princess go off on her own without any protection. He acts as boys just turned men often will, carousing and causing havoc, to the complete disappointment of his family. He convinces himself that without him to protect her the princess must have died, providing him with validity for not having gone to look for her

When he hears she's alive, he leaves everything behind for this second chance at being noble. He goes to look for her. So book 2 takes us through their lives as they try to put the pieces of a broken, war torn life back together again. Whether they can do this or not, I'll leave to you to read.

In book 3, it all comes to a head. This book dots every i and crosses every t. We get to see what exactly happened at the beginning of the war all the way through to the end. Again, what happens is for you to read. Suffice it to say, unusual as it is, we are given a genuine conclusion and left with no thoughts of disappointment that something was forgotten or the conclusion was unsatisfactory.

This author, Brittni Chenelle, went from being a bit of a hesitant writer in book 1 to a phenomenal one in book 3. Watching a young author grow like that is a wonderful thing to see. And being able to experience it all at once with it all in one book is even better. And this is why I love boxsets.

This series was so wonderfully done, and done in such a way as to bring complete closure. It is a true example of how much a writer can grow and blossom into a fine author in her own right. Welcome to the world of authors that I will always want to read with each series they produce, Brittni Chenelle!

This book was given to me as an ARC, and in return I am providing an honest and unbiased review in my own words and of my own volition.

WOW. I just read this whole box set in a matter of hours because it was that good. It was impossible to put down once it started. I laughed out loud, I cried, I yelled in anger—my husband didn’t know what was wrong with me! It was a rush until the end. In fact, I kept looking at the few pages I had left thinking there was no way it could pose resolve in the short pages left.

I really enjoyed the multicultural characters and the great world-building of the lands. It took me a minute to warm up to Charlotte, but I loved the believable progression of her character. Also, I don’t want to give things away, but the triangle here was excruciating for me! I couldn’t choose a side until the end and even then it was hard because I had grown to LOVE these characters. I’m so sad it is over! Read this now!!

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved these stories! It’s a tale of an arrange marriage disrupted due to fractured alliances, and mysterious figures with a questionable past. I was immediately drawn to Charlotte’s leadership abilities in the face of strife. Brittini Chenelle beautifully wrote a story with many twists and turns, and I was delighted to find out what would happen next to Charlotte and Prince Young. These two character were brought together through ‘less-than-ideal’ circumstances, and throughout the books we learn how these two characters triumph in the face of great responsibility thrown upon them in such an early age.

If you love a story that’s filled with strong female characters persevering among great conflict, then these books are for you!

This series was really great. It's a clever and original twist to the classic Camelot legend. I usually like a story when I found the characters well-built. This series is a great example of how complex characters and well-built relationship between them can hook you up on a book. The world building is amazing and I loved the Camelot retelling.

I found myself really involved in the story, liking or disliking a character depending on where I was in the plot. Friendship, loyalty, love, hate and twists and turns, this story has it all!

Wow... This series had so many more twists and turns than I was expecting. I found myself wishing this was more like six books instead of just three.

I think there was definitely room for more here, but regardless, it was so engaging and I was on the edge of my seat for the entire ride.

If you like fantasy and have been in a slump lately, this might just be the series to get you out of it!

I definitely recommend!

Brittni Chenelle is a new author for me but I’m very happy to have found her. Kingdom Cold is a fantastic series and having all three books available in “The Complete Series Box Set” is superb as these are not stories that you want to wait between books for. Well written, with a highly imaginative plot and great cast of characters, the only downside to these books is loss of sleep, as you will not want to put them down.

Sassy Teen Princess Delights in YA Fantasy Romance

Oh, my gosh! I love Princess Charlotte! She’s a sassy teenage princess who is NOT pleased that her parents have betrothed her boring Prince Young to form an alliance. She attempts a hunger strike (oh, but for the hot-out-of-the-oven bread) and she shoots an arrow at the prince’s carriage when he arrives. She find Prince Young’s older brother far more interesting than her betrothed.

Everything changes on the day of the wedding but not in the way you’d think! The wedding is cancelled because the bad guys attack beyond the castle…and then they breach it; the king may be dead and Prince Dreamy (not his name) is captured. Oh, my! There are many twists and turns; the author was able to keep the suspense up for the duration. Prince Charlotte matures.

I have to warn you … there is no HEA, so if that is crucial to you, you will want to skip this delightfully written book. The ending is wistful and sweet but no HEA.

The author is very skilled at writing with humor (not easy), and she creates mini-hooks at the end of each chapter. The one that pulls you from two to three had me laughing out loud. She alternates viewpoints by chapter, and each character has a very distinct voice and viewpoint. The bratty, snarky Princess Charlotte is a delight, and Prince Young has hidden depths of character. The others…you will have to read and see!

If you’re a fan of well-written YA fantasy romance or just looking for a good read, this book may very well fill the bill.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This is an excellent box set overall. I have placed the three reviews for each book below.

Book one 4 stars

I enjoyed this book but felt that it was a bit disjointed in areas. It was well written and the characters and story were relatively well developed. I liked the idea of the different characters having different chapters but found myself getting a bit confused at times. Overall I liked the individual character personalities and their relationship dynamics changed and evolved throughout the book. The story was action packed and full of twists and turns. It had suspense, intrigue, emotion and hot chemistry. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in the series!!

Book two 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The book was well written and the characters and story were well developed. The story was action packed and full of twists and turns. Unlike book one I was able to follow each of the chapters with ease and enjoyed the different perspectives. The characters had individual personalities and the character dynamics changed and evolved through the book. I’d highly recommend this book!!

Book three 5 stars

This book is the best of the trilogy. It follows from book two seamlessly and is well developed and well written. The characters all have individual personalities and the character dynamics continue to develop and evolve through the book. The story is action packed and full of twists and turns. It had suspense, intrigue, emotion, hot chemistry and romance. It is an excellent conclusion to the trilogy. I’d highly recommend this book!!

Overall an excellent trilogy that I’d highly recommend!!

Wow what a ride!!! This book has it all! Love, loss, heartbreak, joy, friendship, family and of course some good old fashioned wars! It all starts with an acidental arrow and wow what a Rollercoaster to an amazing end! Friendships are made and broken, love and loyalties are given, won and tested. There really is something for everyone in this series. I really couldn't put it down I kind of read all three back to back over a long weekend. I just couldn't stop! Brittni is an amazing author you'll love her and you'll want to yell at her because seriously do we need more heartbreak!! Whatever you think of her and whoevers team you're on I promise you won't be able to stop till the battle's been won!

Great Series!

I really liked this series! It was filled with a lot of action, adventure and romance. This series has a couple of twist and turns I didn't expect. A different spin on the whole King Arthur & Merlin story line. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

I loved this series so much. I love the seeing Charlotte grow from a young sheltered princess to a fierce mother and queen. I love young and how he seems a bit spoiled, but is willing to give the ultimate sacrifice. Minseo is an intriguing variety of emotions. I love the twist on Camelot and how Merlin is a woman who is just looking for a deep love connection. Wonderfully done!

I loved this series! I kept wishing that it wouldn’t end, but I was happy when it came to finishing. It was well written, and would read more of this. I loved the characters, and all the twists and turns that showed up.

2.5... I feel the author tried to make too much of a love triangle without really diving into the instances of love. I read the final book simply for the fact that it was a three-book in one on KU, couldn't get through it fast enough.

Solid spin on an old tale

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and appreciated the new plot and character development. If there was a blending of two old stories, I sadly cannot identify the other.

Series starts off a little slow, but quickly picks up the pace with lots of magic and an interesting retelling of Camelot. Fun, adventurous, and intriguing.
