This is a gripping novel.

What have you written? I fucking blew my mind. This is a novel that mostly is expected from American authors. You are definitely a spark to this Indian readers and authors club.

I have just finished reading this novel and I can't wrap my head around the story you wrote.

At few scenes, I found it funny, cliches, but the overall story was quite emotional and frustrating.

I love how fucked up Bethany is in her head. I love 😍 those leads who don't know the next thing about their life ahead.

It was quite the challenge for her to have fallen in love and that too with a guy like Gerald Fletcher. I pity him.

Neverthless, guys, do read her novel, I am honestly tell you, this is not something children would love.

You gotta be a mature reader to read what she wrote in this story.

I vaguely wonder if this is her real life story or not? But as it is a fiction and adult romance, I totally loved it.

P.S. I love the sexual tension between the couple. Oh my god, I was like kiss the guy already dude!! Haha.

Epic scenes. I totally got the feels of an American novel here. Kudos to you miss author Nilakshi Garg.

I am now looking forward to reading more such erotic, adult 🔞, and heart 💖 throbbing romances for you.

Would you please tell us about your next project?? I am sure it will be equally gut wrenching, panty wetting, and jaw dropping.

Loved it as it was your debut. Keep up this good work you strong 💪woman!!

Here is the buy link for those who are interested to buy this amazingly erotic and original romance novel by an Indian 🇮🇳 author.

Go buy it now!!!!!!!! Girls and boys!!!

Till then, I am going to sit and write questions to ask from this author every now and then!!! ,😆

Hey all,

My name is Monika Singh. I hail from Chandigarh, Punjab. I stumbled upon this book on Amazon. My best friend in college read this book for free on Google Books. She recommended me this book.

I am an avid reader of romance. I love everything that has to do with romance. I am putting down my honest review for this book.

Well, where to start from? Guys, this book has something new to talk about for the Indian audience.

I felt all the angst towards Bethany Carlson. She is so frustrating. Like, god damn it, life isn't too hard as she has made it for herself. She's so stupid that she cannot see how truly Gerald Fletcher is there for her.

I mean, woman, c'mon? For being a college student on her own to Tattoo Artist as a business woman, can't you figure out who likes you genuinely? Like otherwise, she knows everything about everyone. She catches lies and truth as easy as a fly. But when it comes to her own love life, she's total dum dum!

It was quite frustrating initially. But the writing was totally on-point. It's something very refreshing coming from this author as her debut novel. I mean I find it hard to connect with Indian authors most of time because of their poor imagination and grammar skills.

But, Author Nilakshi Garg has brought something new to the table. She has crossed a barrier and raise a bar for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book with all the angst, sexual frustration, shitty past of the girl we got here, and the poor guy wanting to know what the eff is happening with his rumored love affair.

My two pennies on this novel?

Go FOR IT GUYS & GIRS!!!

I wanna recommend this book to every romance reader out there.

I received the ARC OF THIS BOOK in exchange of an honest review.

I delayed in writing this review because I already read this book couple of times.

I do not read romance much, friends. This was my first time. I like romance but I pick a very few projects. I landed on the instagram page of this author and loved her content.

That is how I approached her to give me the ARC, which is the advance reader copy. She was generous to give me the same.

Now about the novel: here is my review:

The plot is on point. There are some scenes between Gerald and Bethany that would make you want to just push them together and tell them to simply get over it. It does get frustrating all because Bethany can't get over her stupid and deep-shit past.

I would not spoil it for you guys. You have to read the novel for the same.

Her past is okay but totally f'cked up! The author has a twisted mind to have introduced such a gory past to this character.

The past has definitely distorted the way Bethany thinks about herself and her life.

At some pt of time, in the novel, I do pity her. Then, the pity changes to shame and anger and impatience.

I like the way author knows how to play with emotions of the readers.

I suggest that the author could have explored Gerald a little more. As I reader, I wanted more content on Gerald's life too.

But it is fair I think, in my opinion, because the story was majorly around Bethany gets over her past (or not) when her life throws lemons and melons at her in the company of Gerald and his extended family.

The novel had a lot more scope if author could write more. But it ended quite easily and fast in the end.

Over all, the entire experience was worthy of my time. This is definitely one of the best reads coming out of a Debut Author hailing from India.

Nilakshi Garg ma'am, you have a lot of potential. Please keep writing more books in the future. I am highly obliged I got to read your debut novel for free. 😅😍

Keep it up author!!!!

🙂😇🥰😍

I got to know about this book last week from one of my friends. I have completed this book in one day.

I am an avid reader from Bhopal, MP, India.

This book sort of took me off guard. The story line is something unique and completely western.

However, I did find some funny scenes in this novel that were similar to an Indian masala style.

But nonetheless, the book had the right element to hook the reader from the first page.

I personally think that first few chapters were funny and mesmerizing.

The mid section of this book was somehow heavy and gripping. It made me want to know what is going on with the main characters, Gerald Fletcher and Bethany Carlson.

The author has put immense focus on how Bethany Carlson thinks and sees the world.

Through the book, you would mostly see the world with her POV.

So this book is amazing for those who love to read a single POV.

As an avid reader, I always keep experimenting with the authors I choose.

I choose author Nilakshi Garg for her book's story, name, cover (of course), and my friend's recommendation.

But before that, I went through some of the reviews on Amazon, FB, and of course, Goodreads.

Everyone has been talking about this book somewhere on Insta and FB.

I had to check it out. And I am glad this book came as a surprise to me.

I read it alone and now gave the book for my sister to read. She loves romance more than me. She is already done with ten chapters of this book. She keeps asking me what is going me and I am only left to think like a sinister.

This book has given me and my sister something to talk about. Thank you, dear author.

The grammar was okay. Only little errors, which you could have avoided with more proofread.

In the end, the entire journey of me reading this book was epic, even with little bumps here n there cos we know no single novel is totally perfect.

And I sincerely congratulate the author for publishing her debut novel in a such grandeur way. You rock.

Keep up with this good work! 😎

Simply lovely novel. I liked the cover and the overall story.

I recommend this novel for those who are looking for quick romance read with mysterious past, distorted characters, supporting family, hero material chocolate boy, and the heroine feeling that everything is wrong in her world.

I feel this story is like totally modern version of damsel in distress. You can read if you want the hero to rescue the heroine but in a very subtle way.

Hey all,

I have recently read this book buy buying it from Amazon. It was an amazing experience. This is the first time I found an Indian author to be so much better than the rest.

Dear author Nilakshi Garg,

You words are charming. I am in complete awe. However some scenes were too heavy or a lil bit too dragged on, but overall the book reading experience was nice and awesome.

Please keep us providing with such novels again and again.

I have recommended your book to many of my friends at my college.

Hoping to get a reply from you. If possible.

Otherwise, cheers for such an awesome and well established work!!

Can love help you overcome the scars of the past?
If this is something you believe then this my friend is the book for you.
Even if you don't, give it a read and it might change your perception.
Revolving around the lives of Beth and Gerald, this is not your regular cliche romantic novel but something which you wouldn't expect.
Beth is a tattoo artist and lives a low key life, staying away from all the social life.
While waiting for her past scars to heal, she crosses paths with Gerald, belonging from a completely different background.
He helps Beth overcome her past and makes her live life to the fullest.

Sometimes we come across the one made for us in the darkest of times and when we least expect it.
We may not realize at first but sooner or later it comes to us in the most unexpected ways.
This is what the book is trying to enhance.
I liked how the story was presented beautifully by the author and not even once did I feel it to be boring or cliche.

I loved reading it and looking forward to read more from the author.

The book is colossal disappointment for me. The plot is convoluted that you have to be engaged forcefully and the whole story begins in a confusing way that demands your little patience to relate with the characters. Narration is quite messy as much as the blurb itself. I must say, the book needs thoroughly modifications for its betterment.

To be honest, nothing in particular though, I think it's not balanced at all. And even some parts are unnecessarily dragged. But lots of twist and turns add little spice required to the plot.Cover is really pretty and attractive. Title is good also. The book seems alluring but I genuinely couldn't connect to it. So, I can't recommend you but if you like you can give it a try.

It is definitely not an orthodox love story to be sure. Although one can feel small traces of amateur writing, the overall plot is very decent. The amount of sex involved was in perfect proportion, neither under- nor overdone. Bethany's character development was good too, however, I think there could have been a little more work on Gerald as well.
I expect more good works from Nilakshi.!
Cheers.!

Thanks to Miss author for giving me the ARC copy of this book.

Book Name: Mirage
Genre: Indian adult romance
My rating: 4.5/5

My Honest Review:
This is a story that I would remember for years to come. It was a breath of fresh air. I was totally not expect an Indian author to write something so amazing that most of the foreign authors write.

The Plot:
The entire plot was a mix of emotions. Somewhere it was totally shady, then next it was funny and wacky. I was having bouts of laughter, howls, angst, anger, and weeps (especially at the end of the novel).

The characters:
Bethany Carlson is totally a nut-case. Who made her this way? I cannot understand at the beginning what is going on with her, despite all the subtle hints she drops. I, first thought, may be, she had a stupid ex boyfriend stalking her and all.

Then I thought maybe she was simply bipolar or delusional. Throughout the first half of the novel, author left hanging to decipher the possible scenario of what could have gone wrong with the protagonist or the female lead. She runs a Tattoo Parlor by the way.
So, if any one loves that, surely start reading this novel!

Coming to, Gerald Fletcher, he is everything that you need in a hero. I love such book boyfriends.
He is so smart, straight forward, and takes no bullshit from anyone.

Despite his own family troubles, he has been able to sail through effectively. But that was because of his large family. Yes, this guy has a gigantic family! There are so many siblings that I have lost count. But, I think author did that deliberately to tone down the negatives from the female lead's site.

Chemistry between character :

Totally eye-balling and eye-rolling. I never felt that I was reading the content by an Indian author. I already love American, Canadian, and British authors. Her writing style is so much similar to Nora Roberts, I can say. That is why the chemistry between the two characters was so hot that I could feel it simmering hot in the air while I was sitting around the window, watching rain pitter-patter outside.
At some scenes, I wanted to smack their heads. I wanted to tell both of them to just get on with it and move on, guys. But, I guess that was the flow of the story, Mirage.

Over reading experience:

I finished in 24+ hours. It was a fun read. The lockdown has already been taking a toll on us. But, this book gave me something fancy to think over.

My recommendations:
Go buy it guys if you are into:

Angst
Anger
Frustration
Sensual emotions
Hot characters
Supreme personality
Straight forward book boyfriends
Strangers to lovers
HEA
and hot kisses!!!

Book name: Mirage
Author: Nilakshi Garg
Genre: Romance

So, I am extremely sorry guys for updating after so many months. But I had lost my previous account. I had to remake a new one. Plus, I was quite busy with other stuff as well.

Anyways, the author was quite patient with me for my review.

The story
I read romances but only a bit. I am more of a bibliography person. But I really liked this story. The reason that I am not giving this novel a 5 star is that it's author's debut work and there were of course some instances in the entire narrative that you could feel that this is a debut work.

However, the overall experience for reading this novel has been pretty smooth. I loved the character plotting, scheming, and their mindset. However, the author could have experimented a lot with the male lead.

In my opinion, this novel had a very strong and fucked up female lead. Please don't mind my french here, Bethany Carlson's character just puts me to a very nasty edge, per se.

The lead characters

Hmph. I have to wait a little to type it all out.

Bethany Carlson: The Chicago based Tattoo Artist is at the worst kind of state in her mind. People around her think she's the bossy and often are inspired by her. But if you get the miscroscope and pry into her mind, there's too much shit down there. let's not even talk about her battered soul here

But of course, we have to. She has seen a rough teenage in her life. I won't be disclosing much. But her life has not been easy. Shit. I felt sooooooo bad when it was all revealed. Like what the actual fuckety-fuck!?

My two cents on Bethany Carlson:
She is a messed up kid in an adult's body. She needs love, tenderness, and she should be coming with the hoarding that would say something like this:

"Handle with care or get the hell out of my life! But, oh please, I still might need you, can you stay? But don't cling to me! But are you a good kisser at the same time? So it might change my mind about you. Well, just make up your mind already boy!"

Damn. She's all that at once. It was heck of a drama to see her unravel herself in the real world instead of a mirage in her mind. Thanks to Author Nilakshi for giving us that heart and headache lol.

Loved the story. I found this book on Google Books recently. Every chapter was amazing. I even recommended it to many of my friends. This story is something not seen by many people here in India. It was definitely something new and yet hard-hitting. I had my head rolling here and there when I started to know what was going on with the female lead of this novel.

I would say that the story was quite simple yet not suitable for the young kids. You must seriously be above 18+ because it has nice sex scene, hot kisses, and sexual frustration between the characters. This is not going to be suitable for youngsters in my opinion. Also, the past is very dark emotionally.

You need to be emotionally strong to know what happened with Bethany in her past that made her this way, having double standards or something in real life.

I give full hearts emoji to the make character, Gerald Fletcher.

I made a lot of memories while reading this book. I am still reading it. But I took a sneap peak at the end. I am about to finish this story. I am on the last few chapters. The epilogue was epic! Everyone must go through the sweet, gentle, and emotional epilogue. This was least expected from a debut author.

Mirage is a debut novel written by Nilakshi Garg and its most interesting book that grasped my attention from the very first page of the book.

The story is beautifully expressed and the author Nilakshi Garg has described characters with detailed descriptions. Dialogue shared between characters are very impressive and the storyline is also has a smooth flow.

Though this book is the debut novel of the author, but she has shown us her professionalism with this perfectly balanced book.

The characters are unique and well described with a fascinating back story. I liked the lucid language used to write this engaging story. Also, the twist and turn are what makes the book intriguing and the dramatic scenes will keep you hooked to the book till the end.

TW ~ panic attacks, bullying

I didn't really enjoy the story and Beth's personality was giving me so much dark vibes that it was really hard to keep going but the mystery of Beth's past kept me going.

I did learn a very beautiful lesson from this book that one cannot find peace in present unless and until they accept their past. Avoiding past is never a right thing to do to move on in future.

hi dear readers

My name is Pooja and I have recently read this novel in exchange of the honest review. I was blessed by the Author Nilakshi Garg who considered me to give her my honest opinion about this novel.

For starters,
I have read this novel in a week's time. Though, it could have been read in 2-3 days. For those who love reading good English, this could be that pick for you.

story details:
-> original story
-> interesting read
-> it is about 21 chapters and an epilogue, if I am not remembering anything wrong.
-> the second half is better than the first half. . . . but but . . . the first few chapters are pretty funny to read and skim through.
-> the boy's POV is less explored. Maybe author played safe there being the first time author. But that is acceptable to those who do not have any POV preference as such.

character details:
-> Bethany Carlson is quite Fucked up! yes, she is. I am furious at her for being so dense despite being an entrepreneur. I mean she runs this Tattoo Parlor named BCTP I think. Yet, she does not have any freaking idea of the reality of the guy's feeling around him. And she is a character you can easily lash out on. She thinks she lies on people's face. But she is in her own mirage. She doesn't realize that is she quite open and vulnerable. That makes her character even more fucked up in the long-run. It is true that she seriously needs some help. She needs that TLC which only Gerald can give her as such. But it will only be revealed in the book what is she willing to do for Gerald's and her true love's sake.
-> Gerald Fletcher is the complete opposite of Bethany Carlson. He has a big family, he is not at all artistic but can be little bit poetic under Bethany's presence in his life. He has been quite protected by his family like his grannie, brothers/sisters, and dear mother. He has never needed to fall for a vulnerable person, per se. But he does in this case. Yet, he is quite determined to win over Bethany's heart. That shows how great he has been brought up by his family. He is that person you can count on any hour of the day if he becomes your best friend or even a member of the family. Yet, there are instances which show that maybe there is more to this character. That is why as a reader, I feel that if there is a sequel to this novel or not.

-------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------

Over all, this novel is for everyone who has a strong heart and want to pass some time. This novel will be pretty interesting that can leave you in hissy fits of laughter, tears, and regret of making wrong decision in life to date.

I got the original copy of this book in exchange for the Honest Review from the author's team.

my honest review

I would say that the storyline was quite normal. But what captivated me was the representation of the scenes. There are some scenes that are highly funny -- like 1-3 chapters of the novel. Then, there are other chapters, mostly on the second half of the novel, which are very emotional, romantic, and hot.

The first half of the novel is of course the usual build up of the story, sexual tension between the couple, filled with confessions and fights as well. There is an edge-of-the-seat feeling readers get while reading first half of the novel. You will keep wondering what exactly went wrong with the female lead to act snobbish, rubbish, and like idiotic delusional women. For readers, it's pretty clear that the guy is seriously interested in her for a long time. But she still can't muster the courage to simply say YES and get over it.

That is where it gets a little frustrating. But that is her character. We cannot blame author for that if she cooked her like that.

Cons:
I felt Gerald was less explored.
There are literally some shameful moments in the past. So, it's not meant for light readers. BEWARE
Some sentences were too high even for me after being an avid reader. So, again, keep a check on the same.

Pros:
amazing romantic suspense story
real places mentioned in the cities
good novel to increase your vocab
emotional overdrive
hot scenes and perfect book boyfriend shown there

I have bought two copies of this book. I am a member of the One Seven Creative Solutions start-up. I was thinking to gift some books to my peers in the firm. This books seemed interesting so I gave them to my colleagues. We have shared two books on rotational basis.

We are like 10 members. Each one of them read Mirage by Nilakshi Garg author. Each one of us have different point of view for this novel because of our different reading habits.

Though, one point is sure that I could enhance some level of my vocabulary after reading this book. The English language used in this book is quite apt and different than other Indian authors.

Other than that, we loved the story of a tattoo artist with a fucked up past and how she could not get over her own delusional world. The hero or the male lead was quite strong and straightforward. Without his presence, we don't think Bethany, the female lead, could have made any progress. She was totally dependent on Gerald for emotional stability. As a reader, I could see it. But she realized it in the end, of course.

Overall, this was a sweet novel for those who want to pick up a quick read at home. This novel might be for those who already have a certain amount of reading habit as the author uses quite a few sentences and words that are understood by regular readers only.

If anyone is interested to buy the book, I am sharing the book links below. :) Go on and read this amazing romantic read this summer if you are alone and don't know how to spend the time!

The story is woven around two main leads I.e  Gerald and Bethany.
Where Bethany a tattoo artist is an overthinker, who is shaddered by her past, broken by her sad overthinking powers and lives under the mirage of darkness

She doesn't want to love anyone anymore and keeps on living a two way society.
Where as Gerald a charming hunk. Who wants to spread happiness and is in love with  Bethany.
..................
Bethany keep on mainting silence and doesn't urge anything related her life to any one but Gerald On regular interruption gets to know about Bethany's life......

Overall I love the story . It not only focus on the romantic side but also on the human behavior that how does lonely, broken person feel inside.
Although they are happy I front of you yet they hids a lot of anger,  suffocation and frustration in self
Overall a good read

I have no words for the amazement of this novel.

I have been reading this novel for quite some time. This is one of the novels I have grown extremely fond of. I live in Chicago and author has tried her level best to narrate the Chicago lifestyle, so to say.

I know there were some errors in the way Americans speak. But overall, the story was extremely overwhelming, original, cute, hot, funny, and even highly emotional.

I have read this novel in my small book club at least thrice. Whereas, I have read this novel twice on my own. My teenager daughter is eager to read this novel. But I am not letting her read it as of now because this novel is best suitable for adults with no triggers as such as of now.

I would happily recommend Mirage by Nilakshi Garg to those who love to read suspicious, dramatic, over-the-age, and coming-of-the-age romantic stories.

Must read novel for those readers who love romance with a large family, fucked-up-past, good English, good humor, and a smooth writing.

I read this book on Google Play and ordered it from Amazon later on after I felt that I should have it in my bookshelf.

You can order it online too.

BOOK REVIEW

Wow! What a book! This was totally a mindblowing book and I am in love with the book.

As this is the first book I have read by this author I was not sure what to expect as you just never know when trying a "new to you" author. But once I completed the read I was quite satisfied about my selection.

The title of the book is based on the context and the cover is beautifully designed.

The book has been written in a very simple manner so that everyone can understand it and does not require any special aid.

Talking about the story a bit, Revolving around the lives of Beth and Gerald .Beth is a tattoo artist overcome her past and makes her live life to the fullest. When she met Gerald she fall in love with him but she was sacred of her bad past in love and relationships overcoming from past and fall in love with Gerald again at the end and making their relationship successful.

The satisfaction you get after the final completion of the story is just incredible, Sometimes you are really happy with the ending and sometimes you feel it could have been better but when you will complete this your heart is just satisfied.

This is a novel that mostly is expected from American authors. Nilakshi you are definitely a spark to this Indian readers and authors club. THE BOOK IS A MUST READ AND I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!! And after reading just think that it is her debut book which will make you wonder about her abilities to write.
