Crypto archaeologist, Kinley Dunn accomplished the impossible; translating an ancient Mayan text that stumped experts since its discovery hundreds of years ago. Rumored to hold the key to a vast and priceless treasure, Kinley is determined to be part of the discovery until she finds herself stranded in Guatemala without a way to reach her mentor.
Former SEAL Shane Ivers is searching for his purpose, but on this trip his only goal is to relax and catch up with his old teammates while exploring ancient Mayan ruins. What he didn’t count on was the smart and beautiful Kinley falling at his feet—literally.
An offer of a ride turns into a dangerous, heart-pounding trek through the jungle, while a simple vacation attraction develops into something deeper. With the help of The Leonidas Corporation, they’ll race to find the lost Mayan city, but there’s more at stake than priceless treasure and Kinley and Shane could lose more than they bargained for. Because someone wants the secret Kinley holds and will do anything to get it.
Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha) (The Leonidas Corporation Book 1) by Tarina Deaton is a great first book that is right up my ally. I love me some alpha military romance. It is a quick read and is a wild ride through long forgotten Mayan ruins and the hunt for long lost treasures. The suspense and the danger are palpable and it will have your heart pounding as you turn the pages and get lost in the story.
Kinley is going on her first archaeological dig, she is pumped, she is excited, and she is also unaware of the danger that is lurking right at her doorstep. She is responsible for finding something that has been lost for many, many years.
Shane a former Navy SEAL and his mates are on a much needed break and are going to traipse through the jungles of Guatemala. Unfortunately plans change when things become decidedly dangerous for the young woman that they offered a lift to when stranded.
If you are looking for a quick and easy read that ticks all the boxes for entertainment then this is the book to do so. I am so excited to see what Tarina gives us next.
A fast-paced, blood-stirring, and sexy adventure that grabs you on page one and doesn’t let go until every delicious word is devoured.
“Found In The Lost” is reminiscent of watching an all-time favorite adventure movie playing out on the big screen. The writing seems effortless, the characters immediately compelling, with a plot that quickly and engagingly develops.
Soooo, I didn't know this was a fanfiction like ??? Surprised to say the least. But it was good. I believe it had the potential to go longer and deeper definitely. I would have loved to get more of this. Just felt short. But good premise
I will confess that I have a weakness for books with treks to find some treasure and fall in love along the way. Throw in some added adventure and you have a great book. Kinley and Shane had the perfect meet cute when she fell at his feet. But never has a fall been more fortuitous. She met Mr. Right and also found a partner for the adventure. I loved how the worked as a team each knowing there strengths but working to overcome their weaknesses.
I don't often talk about the motive but in this case it wasn't the typical I want money or at least that wasn't all of it. While I understood the motive the villain was crazy but underestimated nearly loosing the good guys the fight. When Kinely and Shane parted ways from Phantom and Ace, I felt like they were missed but I guess they left so things could get steamy and boy did they. No, I am not just talking about the jungle heat. Kinley and Shane could have burned up the jungle with their chemistry.
This was a fabulous action adventure romance with equal parts of each. I would definitely recommend it and have already checked out the author's other books. I hope Paige and Graham both get stories.

I simply loved this story but then I am partial to a good archaeological romantic adventure where two characters come together and find more than a mysterious archaeological treasure. I thought the two primary lead characters of Kinley Dunn, cyrptoarchaelogist and ex- military Seal Shane aka BAN ( you can read the book to find out what his codename means) were fantastic. As well as many of the secondary characters mentioned throughout.
But with many stories that involve ex-military characters I love the strong sense of comraderie and unity that connects them together and the whole sense of protectiveness that comes about. It's got that positive vibe you see in movies like Romancing the Stone and the Raiders of the Lost Ark series where readers are transported to mysterious and unclaimed ancient ruins filled with unknown treasures. I found the plot was well constructed and flowed smoothly with a good balance of mystery, suspense, romantic moments and that generous amount of light humour to keep your attention throughout. Looking forward to reading more on The Leonidas Corporation series.

Found in the Lost is a short(ish) read that packs an exciting punch, and frankly, I wanted more. It starts out with strange things happening to Kinley as she's stranded in Guatemala after translating an ancient Mayan text, which no other person has been able to do. See, she's determined to be part of the discovery that this text is supposed to lead them to a big treasure, but again, strange things are happening to her from the jump. Luckily, during this trying time, she ends up meeting former SEAL, Shane & his SEAL buddies off on a relaxing trip, and they figure out quickly that there's someone out there who wants something from Kinley badly. The twists are coming in hot, the sparks are flying between Shane & Kinley, and the supporting cast adds humor to the mix as they try to figure things out while keeping her safe. I CANNOT WAIT to read more of this series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This first book in the Leonidas series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.It is written in third person from an alternating dual POV.
Kinley is a little nerdy and a lot smart as well as beautiful. When she gets stranded on her way to a Guatemalan archeological site, she meets Shane. She is wary but thrilled when he offers her a ride. But their adventure is just beginning. Shane is a former SEAL and is visiting Guatemala with 2 active duty SEAL friends when they meet Kinley.
The book is full of adventure and risk. There are heated and detailed intimate scenes between Shane and Kinley as they give in to their mutual attraction. I love how fast their feelings for each other grow in the face of danger. I love how supportive Shane is of Kinley, her work, and her dreams. The story has action and betrayal woven into a tight plot line while setting up the series. This was my first read by this author and I loved it. I am very excited to read more of this series.
Wow, a fast paced book that had me interested from page one. This story had it all, intrigue, double crossing, a hunt for treasure and some steamy sessions. In a male dominated world Kinley was keen to make her mark but this was not without risk. Fortunately Shane was a true protector and add in an instant attraction and their lighthearted conversations which brought a smile to my face. I enjoyed the relationship he had with his employers, The Leonidas Corporation and look forward to reading more books in this series. Now I know what BAN stands for and it was a perfect ending to the book.

I inhaled this story! Then had to go back and start all over and get all the goodness again.
Loved Shane and Kinley's meeting and how things just connected and fit together between them. The sparks burned off the pages, and their adventure and the way they supported and cared for the other quickly became a adventure I didn't want to have end!
This has the feel of one of those awesome summertime adventure escapes we crave every year.
So much was jammed packed in a few pages and I didn't feel anything was left lacking.
3.5 stars from me. I enjoyed the characters, but the background on the secondary characters was lacking. We don’t get much info on them until the second book. The suspense was well done, but I would have like to have it a little meatier and more drawn out. But I enjoyed it enough to look forward to the second book.
Didn't think much as I read but boy did I enjoy the trip through ancient civilization! My first book my this author& it won't be the last. So much fun, adventure & super heated moments that make you sigh. Fabulous characters I want to get to know.

Great read! Just the kind of stories I look for when I think "romance". A well-written story that draws you in from start to finish. Kinley and Shane were so very cute right from the start and I liked them both. Their chemistry was fantastic. I think I'll take a look at the second book from this series :)

Found in the Lost is a fast moving story you'll find yourself lost in. There's plenty of suspense and danger lurking for Kinley on her first assignment in the field, plus a hot blond hero. This trip to the Guatemalan jungles is just the adventure you are looking for.
I love the romance and suspense in these s tories. I get mystery, romance and a happily ever after! I am glad to have discovered this new to me author.
This book is a perfect example of why and how I fell in love with Ms. Deaton’s writing- and why she is one of my ‘one-click, no questions asked’ authors. Then I discover the story has an archaeological theme, with a treasure hunt- AND special forces operatives- and I was one very happy camper!!!! Found in the Lost is the first book in The Leonidas Corporation series by Tarina Deaton. It is the start of a new series and if this first book is anything to go by, the series is set to be fantastic. This is also a cross-over into the Special Forces: Operation Alpha series by Susan Stoker. I will definitely be going to check those books out now, too. Found in the Lost has so much going on in it- in a really superb way. With all the action, adventure, archaeological elements, Mayan ruins, treasure hunting, bandits, suspense, drama, intrigue, trekking through the Guatemalan jungles, betrayal, romance… and so much more that I am having trouble conveying how great this story really is. It would make a fantastic movie- along the lines of Indiana Jones, but with a female archaeologist. It has the feel of Tomb Raider x Indiana Jones x Romancing the Stone- but with its own unique spin and identity- and Ms. Deaton’s wonderful wordsmithing skills which brought everything to life right before my eyes. I was ‘watching’ the story unfold- rather than merely reading it. I was swept up into all the adventure as it unfolded- and I loved every minute. There is also a flirty, fun feel to the story- which balances all the action, danger, and emotive elements so wonderfully well. I loved everything about this book!! I was all in, enthralled right from the beginning- up until the end of the very last page. I loved the friendly banter, camaraderie and bonds that the characters have- especially Shane and his friends and team. The humour that Ms Deaton was able to infuse into the story had me smiling so hard at times, that my cheeks hurt. There was also some edge of my seat, heart in my mouth moments, where I was caught in a page flipping frenzy, reading along with all the dramatic, tense, and emotive developments- desperately needing to know how everything played out. That’s how invested I was in the characters and their story. I couldn’t put the book down- and read it in one sitting. So, if you like a suspenseful romantic adventure with some wonderful characters- that’s completely captivating and totally unforgettable. Then this is definitely the book for you.
I have not had the chance to read anything from Tarina Deaton prior to picking up Found in the Lost. This is book one of The Leonidas Corporation Books and part of her Special Forces: Operation Alpha sets. I loved this book way more than I even anticipated that I would. It was packed with action, adventure, intrigue and some sweet romance to sweep you away when things seem to be getting too heavy with the story line. I loved the characters and their strength, dedication, and charisma. They truly made this novel as great as it is. Deaton writes them in a way that you feel as if they are real life characters that you want to reach out to and get to know better. By the end of the novel you feel as if they are old acquaintances.
Kinley is a sweet and spunky gal that I could really relate to with her energy. She loves her job and she is about to embark on her first archaeological dig. Little does she know that danger will be around every corner and she will be involved in finding a treasure that has been lost for a really long time. Shane wants to enjoy a very needed vacation and plans to roam the jungles of Guatemala. Things don’t pan out quite as relaxing as they anticipated when danger licks their heels after helping a stranded woman. As you can imagine things get pretty adventurous and crazy. I look forward to seeing what is available by Deaton while I wait for the next book in this particular series of hers.
Found in the Lost by Tarina Deaton is the first book in her The Leonidas Corporation and also part of Susan Stokers Special Forces: Operation Alpha series.
Wow just WOW this was really good and I've fallen in love with Shane and Kinley! Take a Crypto Archaeologist needing a ride to her dig and a former Navy SEAL on vacation in Guatemala throw in some mystery-Think Romancing the Stone-and intrigue sprinkle with a little bit of greed and you have Found in the Lost.
Kinley Dunn may have solve the mystery of a Mayan ruin in Guatemala if her ride ever shows up. When some shady characters offer help Shane Ivers (And Phantom and Ace) offers to get her to Carmelita near the ruins. But when bandits stop their driver Shane starts to wonder who is after Kinley and why? Even when a kidnapping turns deadly and of course a friend who betrays her (plus wants to take credit for her find) Shane calls in some help from his former SEALs and new employer Leonidas for the climatic rescue.
Even though Shane Ivers misses being a Navy SEAL he's anxious to find his place in Leonidas. When he sees Kinley needing help at the airport he jumps in to rescue her. He'll still get his hike through the jungle as first planned but now he's also protecting Kinley from goons who want to claim all her hard work.
Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha)(The Leonidas Corporation Book 1) by Tarina Deaton
5 Stars
Tarina Deaton is absolutely one of my favorite authors and I was so excited to grab this book. One negative...It wasn't long enough. That's not to say the book needed more, it felt like a complete story, I'm just greedy and wanted more. One of many positives...This is a book 1 which means there's more to come!
I don't normally like the instant love thing but the way this one was written it made sense and it still felt real. I'm not at all into archaeology and didn't really understand all of that but it didn't matter. The story itself was about an ex navy seal, Shane trying to figure out what is next and Kinley (love that name) an archaeologist who translated an ancient Mayan text, and those that want that information and will do just about anything to get it. This was a fast moving story with a lot of content that moved smoothly and made for an awesome read. I loved both of the main characters and there were others that were part of the Leonidas group that I enjoyed as well and hope that's the route this series goes so we get to know more about them.
I highly recommend this story as well as anything this author writes, I fell in to her Combat Hearts series and after reading this I'm ready to go back and read those all over again.
This first installment of Tarina Deaton's new series is also a cross over into Susan Stoker's Special Forces: Operation Alpha series. I need to confess up front I'm a military romance junkie. I love the suspense, the danger, and most of all the underlying romantic overtures brewing below the surface. Found in the Lost satisfied my addictive needs and then some. Deaton takes the reader on a fast paced wild ride through the jungles of Guatemala as our heroine chases a dream and our hero chases the damsel in distress. Kinley Dunn is smarter than the average, and it was refreshing to have a female that actually followed her instincts. (There's a reason they call in "woman's intuition.") The attraction between the two MC's was immediate and built quickly as they acknowledged the magnetic pull while running from the bad guys. There is not a lot of angst just good old fashion adventure and the feel of the story was very Indiana Jones meets Romancing The Stone. I enjoyed the book and it checked all my 5 star boxes. Deaton has promised more installments in the series and I'll be looking forward to getting my hands on the next one. For a fun up-beat read with an edge go ahead and one click, you'll be glad you did.
Found In The Lost is the first book in the Leonidas Corporation series by Tarina Deaton. It was my first time reading any of this author’s work and I was very impressed by how good this book was. I absolutely adored the 2 main characters. Kinley Dunn has recently translated an ancient Mayan script and is now on her way to be part of the dig. This becomes a journey that is fraught with danger, mystery, intrigue, suspense and romance. Former SEAL Shane Ivers is on a relaxing trip exploring Mayan ruins when his path crosses with Kinley. If you are a believer of love at first sight then you’ll love this book as Kinley and Shane are both immediately smitten with each other. This book is very fast paced and will grab you from the very first page and not let you go. I was totally gripped by this book and didn’t put it down until it was finished. The story flows very well and the characters are realistic and believable. It is certainly not a predictable story as the author throws in a few curveballs that will have you screaming WTF!! If the rest of this series is anywhere as good as this first book then I’m sure this is going to become one of my favourite series’.
Fall in the Lost is the first book in Tarina Deaton’s Leonaidas Corporation series. It is a romantic suspense story with lots of action, a great story, fantastic characters and a happily ever after.
Crypto archaeologist, Kinley Dunn was overjoyed to be asked to travel to Guatemala to continue translating an ancient Mayan text that could lead to a priceless treasure. Former SEAL Shane Ivers was just starting his vacation when he saves a beautiful woman from falling, literally at his feet. But when a simple ride share turns dangerous, Shane will do everything in his power to protect the woman he’s come to love. But will Shane and his team from Leonidas Corporation be enough when they are betrayed? Read it and find out!
This is the first book from Deaton that I have read. It was a fairly quick read and very enjoyable. I loved the connection and chemistry between the Kinley and Shane, it was instant and intense and their care for each other heart warming. I will definitely be reading more of her books. Book two, here I come!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Found in the Lost was a great 5 star read and book one in the Leonidas Corporation series. Tarina Deaton continues to pull me in with her writing.
This is Kinley and Shane’s story. Kinley is an archaeologist and loves what she does, she is going on her first adventure. Kinley is sweet and sassy. Shane is a former Navy SEAL who is vacationing in Guatemala and looking to explore the ruins.
Kinley needs a lift to the Mayan ruin, Shane offers to help her. If only he knew what his offer would entail. The sparks flew between these two almost immediately. Things take an interesting twist when they are attacked. Shane’s protective side kicks in and he calls in some friends to help keep her safe. Who is after her and why?
Tarina does a great job with her writing and pulls you right into the story. We get adventure, danger, mystery, romance and so much more in this quick read. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. Be prepared for some unexpected twists and turns as well. I can’t wait to read more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.
Found in the Lost is the first book in Tarina Deaton’s Leonidas Corporation series. I had read her Combat Heart series so I thought that I knew what to expect and she absolutely did live up to my expectations and gave us an action packed romantic read that pulls you in from page one with the suspicious man at the airport followed by an attempted attack by bandits…. It is a fast paced read that takes you the long forgotten Mayan ruins for a hunt for long lost treasures. It also gives us Kinley who is on her first archaeological dig and the former Navy SEAL Shane who happens to be wondering round in Guatemalan jungle and who happens to be in the right place right time or … wrong place right time … it gives us friendly banter, camaraderie and the deep bond that Shane has with his friends and team. So if you like suspenseful adventure stories with some romance peppered through it then this book is for you AND I promise you that you will finish it in one sitting! I wonder what comes OR who comes next …
Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha)(The Leonidas Corporation Book 1) by Tarina Deaton
5-Stars
Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha)(The Leonidas Corporation Book 1) by Tarina Deaton was an exciting, action packed, romantic read. I was hooked from the beginning. The author immediately pulls readers in with the suspicious man at the airport followed shortly after with an attempted attack by bandits. This book was fast paced and easy to read. There was not one dull moment with this adventure. It also included some steamy scenes between main characters Shane and Kinley. Speaking of which, they were developed well and excellent to follow. I loved watching the romance between them build. Also Ace and Phantom were great supporting characters to the story. They were definitely just as attractive and mouth watering as Shane. I really enjoyed this novel and I highly recommend it.
