"To rid this world of evil, I must first Blaze."

History tells of a time long ago when small town scientist Dr Isaac's discovered the cure for cancer. Great right? And it was... For a time. The "Advanced" were born.

I am one of few remaining immune to a virus created to kill only humans. Broken, cold-hearted I fight tooth and claw to survive, life in the wastes is harsh every day a battle. Baby and I give no quarter to those who cross us. I just want to find and kill the guy who murdered my mother, and kill him... slowly.

But destiny has other ideas for me. Four men claim I'm theirs, but am I too broken to be with them? Fate decrees we save the world together, but first we must discover who we really are.

My name is Kayla, and this is a story of how war never changes. But humankind does.

**1.5** I am blaming the updated Kindle cover for my purchase of the book. This is not the cover that Goodreads has, although this bad cover definitely matches the story inside.

This is a dystopian, post apocalyptic world with zombies, magic, and a faded reverse harem. The FMC speaks in a sort of broken hillbilly language.
Spank my ass and call me Sally, there are another two motherfuckin’ assholes from Tri-City out here looking for little old me?
She has a pet dog that she’s named Baby. Baby is a lion.

The world building is sloppy, the plot is disorganized and messy. There are so many different names for things that it becomes confusing to follow along. People that live in the city are called ‘Advanced,' farmers are called ‘Hands,’ and zombies are called 'pandas.' (because their faces have the same coloring as a panda) There are a ton more confusing examples, (Evo, Seer, Mover, Scrap), but I’ll stop here.

The first part of the story says the ‘Panda virus’ is airborne, but later in the story you can only catch it if you’re bitten by a zombie/panda...so maybe the virus has mutated?

Baby, the full grown adult lion is my favorite part of this story.

Blaze is a dystopian world with zombies and fantasy. The world is overrun by a virus. Death has claimed many and turned them in to Pandas; white skin and black rimmed eyes. The new race are flesh eaters and survival isn’t for the weak. Kayla is one of the strong ones and this is her story.

I’m a stickler for rules and love dystopian world books. This one is unique and mixes elements of fantasy, zombies and a messed up society. It’s also a reverse harem romance with an interesting choice of lovers.

The chapter artwork in this book it’s so pretty. The writing style is addictive and the story sucks you Into the world. This is an adult audience novel with colourful language and scenes of a sexual nature. It’s also a complete story with a happy ever after.

An enjoyable read with a different. Available on KU.

One day. One day, is how long it took me to read this book. Amelia Oliver has done a great job of writing a page turner, that’s for sure. The blurb states it is action packed... it did not lie! Constant action throughout the whole book with romance, also. I received this book as an ARC for my honest review, and the book is due to be released Nov. 4th! This book is a stand-alone, reverse harem, dystopian novel. Do not continue reading if you do not want spoilers. The year is 2200 and we have several species on Earth. Kayla is our FMC who is used to being alone and feels broken inside due to events that happened in her past. In comes 3 sexy males that are her promised since she was a child, and a 4th sexy male she chooses herself. Mix in an overly large (Dog), some “Zombies”, << betrayal (sort of) >> and a fight for survival, and you’re left with an excellent read. Kayla did jump from being a loner, to not ever wanting to be parted with her guys pretty quickly, and I was a little put off by that at first because I felt like it was a complete 360, but then our Kayla actually acknowledged her 360 change... I really liked that! I’ve read plenty of reverse harems, dystopian, etc books, but I can honestly say that this book had a fresh new perspective for me. I enjoyed reading about the Panda, the Advanced, Brutes, and several other species. Now, even though I REALLY enjoyed this book there are a few things I’m left wondering about and wished would have been cleared up a little bit more. These do not turn me off from the book at all, but I personally would have liked it to be a little more detailed in these areas: why is her mom in limbo and nobody else? The red man and the white man, I can only assume is Lucifer and God, was portrayed “bad” to me by the way Kaylas mom told her to run from them but then that was it... nothing else ever happened with that whole scene. That area of the book just seemed pretty vague to me, but it was interesting, so I wish Amelia had just gone a little more into detail there, because again, I found it interesting. Also, Kayla’s fathers... I want to know what happened to them! Again, these a small areas so they don’t turn me off from the book AT ALL... I just, personally, would like to know more about those parts. All in all, I truly feel that Amelia Oliver did an excellent job writing this story. It kept my attention the entire time and I just kept •blazing• through the pages to find out what was going to happen next. So, go ahead and click that “want to read” button 😜 and then let us all know what YOU thought of “Blaze”.

I feel bad abandoning this book like this but I don't think I can make it. The story sounds interesting but so far I am so confused, the story is all over the place and I have only come across two characters so far, I can't imagine meeting the rest of the cast. I don't know whether its the writing or my compulsion to require things to be logical but it hurts to try to read this book.

I do not like first person present tense but even more I strongly dislike zombie stories. I received an arc to read of Blaze and despite my reticence in reading the book, Oliver snagged me in under seven pages. Her writing style is dynamic, engaging, and well thought out. Her characters are deep and well developed. Her plot is twisted and involved but not so involved you get confused and feel clueless. Her story evokes a strong emotional response. Even though I read an arc copy with errors, the story was so engaging I barely noticed the issues. This author is one to watch!

Awsome dystopian read. Set in an apocalyptic world where a virus was let loose and created "advanced people" and "Panda" flesh eaters.....

Badass main character... strong and fearless. Great RH with strong males.

Brilliant book. I really enjoyed it. Must read... 5 stars....

Confusing At Times

I really wanted to like this book, and for the most part I did, but there was a lot in there that was just plain confusing.

Kayla and her pet, Baby, live in a bus in London. London is now infested with Panda faced zombies. Yes I said Panda faced. They have black rings around their eyes and black around the nose and mouth. So they look like Pandas. Kayla is a immune to the Panda Virus, which is described as airborne, however, she will get it if she’s bitten or scratched by a Panda Zombie. This was one of the most confusing things to me, in the glossary the virus is described as airborne but infects those who are bitten or scratched, this means it isn’t airborne but passed through contact.

Kayla meets Connor who claims to know her from when they were children. She has no memory of this, which he says was caused by an accident that killed her brother and stole away Connor and his friends Crowley and Charlie too. Apparently all three were destined be her mates. It is Connor that explains that Baby is in fact not a dog like Kayla believed but a lion.

We then have a series of adventures where we meet the other guys, she dislikes them and wants nothing to do with them one minute and then the next she changes her mind after a near death experience. It felt very much like she was one person at the start of the book and then it all flipped over and she was all of sudden a much happier, easy going person who was delighted to be a in a relationship.

It just seems to get more and more confusing. It felt like there should be more explanations for things as they flipped around into something else. I got to the point where I just thought, ‘read it Chrissy and just switch off your brain during the bits which don’t make sense.’ That worked quite well, but it annoyed me somewhat to have to do that.

This book had so many ingredients of a book that I would like that I am disappointed that it didn’t quite happen. It’s an entertaining book, and if you are good at switching your brain off during leaps of bizarre logic, then you’ll be really happy reading this book, otherwise, be prepared for your head to hurt afterwards.

Legit this book had me at sharknado. "my stomach twisting and turning like a sharknado took up residence in my belly."

Amelia Oliver is a new author to me but I do love a good old zombie apocalypse so this seemed like a good choice for me and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Set in a now dystopian London after a cure for cancer which didn't go to plan, and a virus to destroy humans that went wrong and turned them into Panda's, basically flesh-eating zombies. Kayla lives in the wastes with her....dog, Baby, with one goal...to get revenge on the man who ordered her mother's death. But in an already screwed up world when does anything ever go how you want it to.

There were enough twists and turns in this story, that if it was an actual rollercoaster it'd probably make you barf. But honestly, I mean that in the best way cause it was so good and really did keep you on your toes. One thing to point out though is there are a lot of men, and all their names start with C which at first left me going "wait who did what?". I also loved some of the little throwbacks to what would have been things possibly from before Kayla's time which she discovered on a phone she had found. Though please someone give that poor girl the end of the story that she was reading that just ended, that's just cruel haha.

If you like dystopian, with some paranormal thrown in with lots of hot men and a case of why chose then give this story a read.

This is a different type of Dystopian novel. It's a Paranormal Maze runner. It seems to be a division of groups after the destruction of the world.

We got Kayla who basically has been on her own Inna world where it is eat or be eaten. She doesn't remember a lot about her childhood, just bits and pieces. Then she meets Conner, Crowley and Charlie. Then things start to get weird. They want to take her to Tri-City because they are part of a rebellion and tell her that she is their promised. Huh? You say promised, now Kayla isn't having that because well as you can tell she is a bada$$ and doesn't belong to anyone. Well she tries to go her way and runs into a Panda. Now this isn't your furry animal. It's a human with a virus that is a type of zombie!! This Panda's name is Chris and he is different then the rest of the crazy Panda's. Then everything just goes sideways, there is betrayal, realization of love, magic and death!

I literally read this in one day. I couldn't put it down and it had some steamy parts too. I loved it because it was different and perfect for this time of year.

First up let me say that I don't read a lot of dystopian genre. However I have before and enjoyed them. This was really well edited. I think I only noticed two true mistakes that weren't meant to be part of the novel. (Broken Speech) I did find the start, full of angst and mixed feeling that was a bit much for me. I did like the world building and the characters. How the characters interacted was also very well written. My frustration and reason for 3.5 stars was more to do with the amount of unanswered questions I have, and how side characters plus plots were written in, but not really finished off properly. Also the final war left me wanting more. It just didn't capture me to the point of not being able to put it down or making me laugh or cry. Although I am sure many will enjoy this book, and when the author has written a few more books, I will try them again as they obviously have talent.

This was a very interesting book that I enjoyed reading very much. The story is full of action, it is fast paced and there are many twists and turns, some of which were completely unexpected. But have no fear, there is no cliffhanger and all the questions get answered by the end of the book.
The characters are great, well developed, versatile and interesting, as are their relationships. The author has put a lot of thought into the main characters' background stories, and she reveals them gradually throughout the book. Sometimes these revelations are quite shocking.
There is also all kinds of hotness here, but it is not immediate because the main character is dealing with some issues from the past. However, Kayla is determined to get through it so she does. She does not allow the past to control her future.
Kayla is a very intriguing character and I enjoyed her story. And overall, this was a great book and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Mine 😍

Well this was something. I’ve never read a book like this and I was enthralled with the storyline immediately. Kayla is what I wish I had been in my youth. Strong, resilient, adaptable and wise beyond her years. She is only 20 but has lived so much life in this futuristic hell world. A world that includes: a government that isn’t for the people, a shortage of women and children, and a virus released that turns humans into zombies known as “pandas.” A place where magic, demons, and super powers like telepathy exist. Oh and let’s not forget, Baby. I’d like a pet dog like him any day. In theory, anyway. Kayla’s promised mates aren’t exactly what she was expecting, they never are. And I just have to note, I’m not nearly as forgiving as she is. Just call me Queen of the Grudges. I’m carrying this one for a looooooong time.

Stand alone paranormal RH.

Unique Dystopian world

I'm coming to find that all of Amelia' s books have a twist on the norm which give them a fresh feel when there are so many dystopian stories around. I love Kayla as a heroin and her men are HOT... and one is especially unique (you'll have to read it to find out ;) )
As with all of Amelia's books there are plenty of hot and steamy scenes but they're done in a way that fits with the flow of the story.
I love baby... i wish i could have one for myself! This is a stand alone RH but I really hope Amelia decides to write more in this world because although Kayla's story is done this I'd lo e to revisit it and find out how it changes and where it goes next.

A fantastic Dystopian, Post Apocalyptic book. Im not usually a fan of this kind of book and i normally stir clear of them but im glad i gave this a go. It really sucked me into it and i was so into it i finished it in one night. Loved the characters. Kayla is just a fantastic, kick*** FMC. Full of sass, great put downs and wit. Her RH-Connor, Charlie, Crowley and eventually Chris who is a panda (a zombie). Yes they do have relationships it would seem (lol) and all add to it. They all with that plenty of wit, steam and sarcasm. Just a fantastic read and i think you changed my mind about these types of book. A win-win there

I totally loved this book. From the moment that I started it, till I finished the very last word, I could not put it down.

The transitions between scenes is amazing and the book moves along at a very comfortable reading speed. The characters are so real, that you feel as though you know them personally and you want to see them overcome everything in their way and the story will grab you and keep you reading till you finish the book.

This is an awesome book that must be read, there is no doubt about it. Add it to your TBR list now, you will not be sorry.

Panda, lions and fire. Oh my!

I read this book in one day and fell in love with the characters. They are beautifully broken in this post apocalyptic read.

Kayla and baby (her dog) have been navigating on their own since she was little. The world after the release of a virus is not a nice place, it's full of advanced and zombies. But a girl's gotta live. But people have been looking for her, the good and the bad. Living in this world it's no wonder that all the characters have their issues.
Great read that doesn't disappoint, would definitely recommend this book.

Finished this sucker in one day! It was such a fun story to read! A dystopian, post apocalyptic book that really keeps you on the edge of your seat, Blaze had well developed characters (gotta love a strong fmc!) and a great storyline. It was packed full of action, love, and surprises. I do feel like there could have been more to the story near the end as I'm still full of questions, but overall it was brilliantly written!

Zombies wander around the world

Earth has been decimated by a virus; which leaves : advanced (city dwellers) , alphas(leaders), evos, hands(farmer), Pandas(zombies) Kayla is a survivor ,that was not affected by the virus. We join her in the future , as she and her 'dog" fight to survive. This is a fast paced Rh , with a badass mc. There is no cliffhangers. I loved where this story took me.

This book, is something ducking else.
Amelia Oliver has completely outdone herself again, I was hooked from the beginning and never wanted it to end. Four unbelievably hot guys stole my little black heart and I never wants it back. I laughed and I may have cried a little. Definitely one to watch for when it’s released! 4th November. Put in diaries.

Or pre order, and let the magic happen.

Kayla and her "dog", Baby, are alone and fighting for their lives against zombie-esque monsters known as Panda. Pretty straight forward, right? Nope, far from it. Get ready to jump into the future where society has been destroyed and those outside the dome of the city are forced to find a way to survive. This RH dystopian novel will keep you hooked from beginning to end.

I was so excited to read Blaze and I definitely was not disappointed. There were many twists, turns, and surprises. I was pulled in and disappointed when it came to an end. I wanted it to continue. Amelia Oliver is an amazing author and her words, and characters have a way of nuzzling into your heart.

This book captured my attention from the beginning. The MC is a mixed up starving girl who has a talent she didn't know about and 4 men who challenge the powers that be. It is a dystopian story that is a bit different than the usual Zombie apocalypse books. I enjoyed it.

Wow, this was a fast paced and hot book. Lots of fighting and intrigue. I really enjoyed this paranormal romance/dystopian story.

My favourite character is definitely Baby. I want one of those "dogs" too.

I wish it had been a bit longer. Maybe it's just because I didn't want to leave the characters/world already.

I was at first a little unsure about the dystopian theme and reverse harem, but I got to tell you it was awesome. It was interesting, funny, sad, steamy and action packed. Kayla was a no nonsense girl with a heavy load in her life... she could heal with the help of her guys. If you love dystopian books and like reverse harem books you should grab it. And if not.... you should as well 😉

Book kept my attention from start to finish. Lots of action. Kayla is a good character. Really liked her. Seriously this book is really good. Highly recommend.

My head hurts ( don’t read this)

This started off decent and just went downhill. I kept waiting for it to get better and it didn’t. It got worse. There was too much information that just added questions instead of answering any of them. Too much didn’t make sense. I got to 89% and decided to skim the rest just to get it over with. I do not recommend this book.
