3.5 Stars : Since the books are so connected (the next one starts in the same scene as the previous one), I am going to review the whole series in one go.
Overall Opinion: I really enjoyed this series. It is a slow burn contemporary fairy tale love story between an openly bisexual man and a man who is hidden so deeply in the closet that he cannot yet face his own sexuality. The added value of the series is in the non-explicit yet erotic scenes between the two. You can just feel it sizzle.
These books are proof that non-explicit sex scenes can be more erotic than some explicit ones. The description of a kiss and the anticipation of it, tracing a tattoo with the finger, (trying) to hold hands in the cinema, the butterflies in the stomach, the insecurity of the one versus the self-confidence of the other,...
Caution: you have to see this story for what it is: a modern day fairy tale. So don't look at the events from a realistic POV; it will only disappoint (Bash is too pushy and knows just too well how to react, Raff accepts his "new life" within the time frame of a few days, etc) This is a book about finding Wonderland. So, look at these books as just that, a tool to help you dream away and immerse yourself in a beautiful romance, and they will do the trick!
The author has also reworked a number of fairy tales, so I read the book as a modern fairy tale and loved it. So much so, that I have already sought out other books by this author.
The only thing that annoys me immensely is that it is a story for one book, but it is spread over three books and there is always a lame cliffhanger to make you want to read on. But let's face it, a lot of contemporary authors fall back on this sales tactic.
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Raffael (Raff) and Sebastians (Bash) story.
Raff is a celebrated street racer in London, Bash is new in town and has racing experience in his home town. They meet during one of those races. During that first meeting Bash kisses Raff (to get him out of a bet), both race against each other. They cross the finish line together, and according to the rules, have to change cars. This is the start of a friendship, relationship, emotional rollercoaster for Raff and a test to see how patient Bash can be. What follows is a slow burn love story, with trial and error
Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Raff and Bash POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good! I never skimmed. On the contrary, I reread some scenes several times before I moved on.
Insta-love: Yes. They meet just before an illegal street race. Bash frees Raff from a bet with a kiss. Throughout the story that follows, both admit to feeling something for each other from that first kiss.
H1 (Hero) Sebastian (25 years old) rating: 5 stars. Sebastian is what I would describe as a "book boyfriend".
He knows from an early age that he likes both boys and girls, but also that his preference is for boys. He also immediately sees that Raff has not yet realized that he likes boys and is patient as a saint. In spite of all Raff's flight behaviour and internal struggles, he firmly believes that he has found the love of his life. Now he just has to try and make it clear to his future boyfriend that they are made for each other. As said before, this book is a modern day fairytale. From a realistic POV, Bash is too pushy, too manipulative, knows just too well how to react, is too understanding, .. He gets a tattoo (all over his belly, and they are not even a couple yet, for example. IRL that is just stupid, in a fairytale, it is romantic. If you get what I'm trying to say here.
H2 (Hero) Raffael (23 years old), "Snowflake" rating: 4 stars.
Gets his first kiss from a man and finds himself in a rollercoaster of feelings. He lives by strict rules, and only colours outside the lines when challenged. He struggles with the thought that he could be gay and even more with how the outside world will view him. He has to overcome many fears, but Bash stands beside him and guides him through his coming of age process.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed
Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes. You just feel air crackling between the two of them. And as already said, the scenes don't have to be explicit to feel it tickle.
Descriptive sex: Yes, MM and one MFM. But if you are looking for explicit scenes, I would skip this book. This story relies on the slow burn and discovering feelings, daring to act on those new feelings, on the making love aspect and not on the F* aspect.
OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: No
Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes, one MFM scene
Cheating: No
Separation: Yes
Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

Fortunately aside from a truly bizarre unrealistic intro apologetic letter,the rest of the book is realistically good.Do yourself a favour,skip the letter,ease into this ride and accelerate into what is for me one of the best 'gyf' books of the past few months.
There was never moment where I had to jump a page or delete a scene in my mind.It all begins with one simple kiss born of a dare with a Norse iceman who seems addicted to dares and the speed demon intent on deconstructing his glacial parts.The book ends in a soft cliffhanger but promises to increase the heat in the next offering.Will definitely recommend.There are m/m as well as mfm scenes.

La seule chose qui me vient c'est "elle est où la suite??" J'ai tellement adoré, je l'ai bouffé (il est court mais j'étais accro!)
J'ai ressenti tout ce j'aime ressentir dans ce genre de romance! Frustration au max, jeu de séduction, tentative de résistance. J'en redemande, je veux déjà le relire. C'était intense, sexy et j'adore cette plume dynamique ! Je suis tombée amoureuse des deux personnages et de leur relation grandissante.
Vraiment vivement le T2 que je saute dessus !

I really don’t know what to say about this one. It was so bad and unsavory in some ways, including a protagonist who didn’t seem internally consistent. But it was also engaging somehow, despite being deeply unrealistic (even for the genre!). I probably won’t read the follow ups, time will tell.

Anna Katmore est une auteure que je connais déjà par sa série Grover Beach, cette fois elle nous emmène dans un univers plus adulte et sexy. Raffael est toujours dans le contrôle quel que soit le domaine, mais il ne résiste jamais quand on lui propose un défi. Sebastian va faire irruption dans sa vie et faire éclater le semblant de contrôle de ce dernier.
Cette histoire m’intrigue car j’avoue que j’ai trouvé le début un peu trop précipité et facile à mon gout mais ensuite le rythme ralenti et je suis extrêmement curieuse d’en apprendre plus sur nos personnages.
Raffael est sûr de lui, il ne laisse quasiment rien au hasard dans ses études, sa vie privée et aussi lorsqu’il participe à des courses en voiture. Sa vie semble bien rodée avec ses amis Felix et Tanja. Mais une course et une rencontre vont vraiment mettre sa vie sans dessus dessous. Sa vie, celle qu’il pensait vivre tel un programme millimétré va devenir un chaos émotionnel qu’il n’était pas préparé à affronter.
Sebastian va mener un jeu compliqué pour arriver à approcher Raffael, c’est un personnage capable de retenu quand il a un but bien précis et là en l’occurrence notre bel islandais. Il va devoir s’adapter et pousser son compagnon à revoir ses convictions.
Je suis très curieuse dans l’avancée de cette romance, cependant j’avoue que la découverte d’un désir homosexuel chez un hétéro dominateur est quelque peu facile et mal exploité pour moi. Raffael se découvre avec une attirance comme une lubie et ça donne tout de même un petit côté bancale à la construction. Cependant si l’on ne s’appesantit pas sur cet aspect l’histoire est prenante et la romance assez mignonne.
Je lirai la suite, il m’est impossible de ne pas savoir comment nos héros vont évoluer. Le récit étant court c’est assez rythmé et l’on ne connait que mal encore les personnages.
La plume d’Anna Katmore est fluide, très contemporaine. Elle aime les personnages dynamiques avec du caractère et c’est très bien fait de ce côté là.

Raffael est le maître du contrôle. Lorsqu’il perd sa voiture chéri lors d’une course illégale de voiture, il est prêt à tout pour la récupérer. Même à laisser les rênes à Sebastian…
Que dire de ce roman ? C’était sympa… gentillet… il ne s’y passe pas grand chose…
J’ai passé un bon moment et je n’ai pas de grosse critique à faire, mais je ne saurais expliquer mon manque d’intérêt pour ma lecture. Peut-être parce qu’il est très court (150 pages) et que je n’ai pas vraiment eu le temps de rentrer dedans, ni de m’attacher aux personnages ? Peut-être parce qu’il passe après la lecture d’une trilogie que j’ai enchaîné et adoré (je parle des Chroniques de Nira ♥️) ?
Bref, ça ne sera pas ma chronique la plus constructive de l’année car à part vous dire que s’était chouette, j’ai pas grand chose à dire 😅
Raff est hétéro, control freak et dominateur (sur ce dernier point, c’est juste un gros LOL car la dominance du mec ne se ressent absolument pas 😅). Sebastian essaye de faire fondre l’iceberg qu’est Raffael, avec quelques bons mots bien placés et un peu de provoc’.
La romance en est à ses balbutiements. Raff qui n’accepte pas son homosexualité (ou bisexualité) et Seb qui tente de lui faire comprendre que garçon ou fille, ça n’a pas d’importance.
Tout est un peu prévisible et manque d’originalité.
Et je n’ai pas franchement compris l’intérêt de l’auteure de terminer ce tome introductif sur ce cliffanger peu subtile 🙄
Mais bon, je le redis, s’était sympa, bien écrit et j’ai passé un agréable moment.
J’essayerais de lire la suite rapidement car je sens que j’aurais très vite oublié ce tome 1…

Cortito y entretenido.
Tiene un mal comienzo, casi lo abandono. Pero va mejorando un poco. No es nada del otro mundo, es más que nada entretenido. ¡Seguiré leyendo la saga!
PD: La portada es horrible y la sinopsis te hace pensar que es una novela completamente diferente a lo que realmente es. No esperaba un slow-burn al leer esa sinopsis, quedé gratamente sorprendida.

Author Anna Katmore may be new to me now, but I can guarantee, this won't last. This first book was fabulous and I am already anticipating the next round. It is going to take more than one book to complete Sebastian's and Raffael's story.
I don't even know where to start, but I knew that I didn't want it to end! Raffael was only two years his junior, but Sebastian felt the man was years older than he really was. His demeanor, his actions, even his words were that of someone so much older.
Losing his car in a drag race had Raffael on edge, but there was no way he could renege. So, imagine his surprise when the winner offered him his ride back with a price. Could Raffael step outside his boundaries and give Sebastian what he wanted? And what will happen when Raffael is forced to accept the truth buried deep inside of him?

I wasn't sure about this one and almost put it down but once I got into the groove of the story it was actually highly entertaining and I completely immersed myself into the story.
This storyline was actually a novella. Coming in at a little over 100 pages but it felt like a much lengthier book.
Raff is a 23 year old Icelandic street racer. He's into BDSM with women. He loves his play room and loves taken control there and outside in his life as well.
Raff's structured life gets shaken up when he meets Sebastian another racer.
On a dare and to win his car back Sebastian propositions time in Raff's playroom.
And things get complicated... I won't go into detail because (spoilers) but I really enjoyed the internal conflict Raffael has with suppression of his sexuality. It actually felt very realistic and less "GFY".
Also Raff and Sebastián's PLAYSTATION 4 "date"! So cute! LOL

"Breaking Rules" ist Band 01 der "Breaking" Reihe von Anna Katmore.
Das Cover finde ich absolut Mega. Es gefällt mir außerordentlich gut und entspricht auch dem darin "enthaltenen" Lieblingscharakter, nämlich Sebastian.
Es ist mein erstes Buch der Autorin weil ich ehrlich gesagt immer um sie herum geschlichen bin, kam mir zu jugendlich rüber und auch nicht mein Thema... Doch da ich wirklich selten bis gar kein Glück mit Gay Romance habe dachte ich einen Versuch ist es wert... GOTT SEI DANK hab ich es gewagt. Ich mochte Band 01 sehr gerne, die Charaktere sind authentisch und gefielen mir sehr gut. Leider hatte ich etwas Probleme mit Rafael, klar er will einfach aufgrund verschiedener Dinge nicht so sein wie er nun mal ist, aber es entwickelt sich... Band 02 liegt zum lesen bereit :D

Leider hatte ich etwas Probleme mit Rafael, klar er will einfach aufgrund verschiedener Dinge nicht so sein wie er nun mal ist, aber es entwickelt sich... Band 02 liegt zum lesen bereit :D

Raffael behält gerne die Kontrolle und dann verliert er seinen Wagen an einen neuen Rennfahrer. Sebastian fühlt sich von Raffael angezogen und merkt schnell das Raffael Angst vor der Wahrheit hat. Zwischen den beiden knistert es und er will sein Auto zurück.
Humorvoller Start der Geschichte, die schnell zu einer romantischen und gefühlvollen Geschichte wird, die einen in ihren Bann zieht. Die beiden sind einfach süß zusammen. Doch sind die beiden komplett anderes und wie sagt man Gegensätze ziehen sich an. Raffael muss sich mit seinen Gefühlen auseinandersetzen und wir sind dabei. Wir erleben mit ihm allen Höhen und Tiefen. Eine Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle, die einen in nicht so schnell wieder loslässt und mit einem gemeinen Cliffhanger endet.

Il finale è da testata nei denti perché sembra palesemente un libro diviso in tre parti per guadagnare di più. Il resto però è godibile, come la chimica tra i due protagonisti e l'evolversi della situazione.

La historia de Sebastián y Raffael. Una saga de tres libros que perfectamente pudo ser uno, me imagino que la decisión de cortarlos en 3 es netamente comercial.
El primer libro de la saga vemos como Sebastián se introduce en el mundo de Raff y comienza a sacarlo de lo que conoce. Este fue el que más me gustó, me gustan las relaciones que van avanzando lentamente y a diferencias de varios libros en que el hetero se da cuenta que es gay y casi no le importa (inverosímil para mí) en éste el personaje se encuentra en constante conflicto por los nuevos sentimientos que esta desarrollando. Pero ...
Viene el segundo libro, donde para mí se cae todo. (esa atracción lenta, ahora es amor a primera vista por dos veces que estuvieron juntos) Este personaje controlador, sado, seguro, etc, se vuelve alguien frágil, lleno de temores y claro, está en conflicto, pero pierde toda su esencia. No es el personaje anterior conflictuado, sino que casi uno completamente diferente. Por otro lado tenemos a Sebastián que a ratos me parecía humillarse con Raff y a mí los personajes que se humillan me echan a perder el libro.
Se supone que compiten en carreras y eso casi no esta más allá de un par de escenas.
El tercer libro mejora un poco con respecto al segundo, pero aun tenemos a Raffael siendo alguien frágil que se siente "seguro" con Sebastián. Creo que la autora estiró demasiado el conflicto de Raff para poder tener 3 libros, cuando fácilmente esto podría ser sólo uno. Porque es como si entre el segundo y el tercero no hubiesen cambios, no tiene sentido el corte.
En fin, la saga es estretenida, se lee rápido.

Mon monde s’est écroulé lorsque j’ai rencontré mon égal.
Je me flatte de garder le contrôle en toute circonstance. Ma seule faiblesse ? Des paris risqués. Quand je perds ma voiture contre un pilote de course, nouvellement débarqué en ville, Sebastian me donne une chance de la récupérer. Ses conditions : deux heures dans ma salle de jeux, et aucun safeword autorisé.
J’accepte, bien que je n’y fasse venir que des filles. Mais, quand il m’embrasse, j’atteins mes putains de limites.
On ne rencontre qu’une fois dans sa vie la perle rare.
Raffael est de la pure glace nordique. Maître de lui. Déterminé. Et beau à couper le souffle. Gagner sa voiture a été un coup de chance. Gagner son cœur, alors qu’il a si peur de la vérité, s’avère être le défi le plus difficile que j’aie jamais eu à relever.
Alors alors, j’ai eu du mal à accrocher avec les personnages, que se soit Sebastian ou Raffael.
J’ai trouvé Sebastian très insistant tandis que Raffael ne réagissait que peu voir pas.
Cependant l’atmosphère est électricité entre eux. Ils se cherchent. Et on suit Sebastian dans ses tentatives pour faire craquer Raffael.
Le bdsm n’est pas le thème principal, il est vraiment en arrière plan
J’ai fini le livre, il se lit très vite et la plume est très agréable.
Mais le livre est court et découper en plusieurs.
Bref une assez bonne lecture que je conseille tout de même !

Ici nous avons le premier tome d’une histoire MM, mais en plus de ça nous avons ici une relation type BDSM… ce qui n’est pas ce que je préfère (même si des fois j’aime bien) et qui justifie mon choix de ne pas continuer cette trilogie. Je n’ai rien contre le côté MM, car j’aime beaucoup quand il s’agit d’une relation entre deux hommes. Mais quand sa mélange BDSM et deux hommes ça me gêne un peu plus…
Bien que la lecture me fut sympathique, je n’ai pas réellement accrocher. Sûrement aussi à cause du manque de détails.
Mis à part ça, j’ai trouvé la lecture assez fluide et assez rapide au vues de la taille de ce roman.
Dans ce roman vous allez rencontré deux hommes Raffael et Sébastien mais également Tanja et Félix. Dans ce premier tome nous apprenons à connaître les personnages, leur caractère, leur relations, leur passions…
Nous avons ici une relation bien explosive sous haute tension.⚡️une relation qui fut une découverte pour Raffael, apprendre qu’il soit aussi attiré par les hommes et pas uniquement par les femmes. Il a du faire face à sa bisexualité et aux restes…

Diese Reihe ist aber nicht nur meine liebste Queer Reihe sondern auch so einer meiner Favoriten.
Ich weiß gar nicht wie ich sie am besten beschreiben soll, sie geht mitten ins Herz!
Es steckt so viel in diesem Büchern. Sie bringen einen zum Nachdenken.
Die Reihe ist so voller Gefühle, Zweifel, inneren Kämpfen, der Suche nach sich selbst, Liebe, Standhaftigkeit, Zwiespalt, Scham, unterdrückte Gefühle, Angst und der Entscheidung zu sich und seinen Gefühlen zu stehen.
Ich habe noch nie bei einem Buch so mitgefühlt. Sie hat mich mitgerissen, einen Teil meines Herzens beansprucht und mich verändert. Sie ist einfach wundervoll. Ich finde gerade gar nicht die passenden Worte um auszudrücken wie wundervoll diese Reihe ist und wie sehr sie mir am Herzen liegt.
Raffael macht eine wunderbare Veränderung während den Büchern durch, er lernt zu sich und seinen Gefühlen zu stehen und sich zu akzeptieren wie er ist.

This is such sweet story with elements that were just pure fun. I don't know who wrote the blurb, but the story is way better than the blurb lets on. It also implies some things that don't happen in the way it's implied and it doesn't mention that Raffael is inexperienced in both love and in men. And when confronted with a man he is interested in, he panics and it's so goddamn cute/angsty/annoying to read. I love it. So good.
Now, I hate a cliffhanger, but the blurb did warm about it, so as far as cliffhangers go this was a good one and really excites one to read the next in the series. Speaking of warnings, WTF was with the Author's note/preface? It leads one to assume we are walking into a land of over the top, completely insane, not believable, contemporary "fantasy"... But that's not what we get. Now, I love what we got, but it isn't what was "warned". Why was that there?

Eine spannende, kurzweilige Story mit knisternden Gefühlen, die ich auch nicht mehr aus der Hand legen konnte.
Obwohl meine Leseliste recht voll ist, ist die Fortsetzung im Rang gleich nach oben gerutscht, denn das Ende hält so ja keiner aus 😃😃
Insbesondere die Chatkommunikation fand ich auch sehr gelungen formuliert.

Es un buen libro, me gusto bastante aunque pensé que no me iba a gustar porque es muy corto y no estoy acostumbrada a leer libros tan cortos, pero estés libro es muy lindo el romance floreciendo poco a poco y no de golpe como me esperaba en este tipo de libros, Sebastian y Raffael me encantaron en algunas partes hasta me hicieron reír, ya quiero leer el segundo yeiii

Loved them!
Absolutely adored Sebastian and Raffael. Raff hiding who he is, under a veil of control, and Sebastian pushing every button, breaking his rules.
Slow burn, perfectly written, vivid imagery in such a short and very tempting taste of this series.

ich habe schon viele Seiten gebraucht, um richtig reinzukommen,
fuer mich war's etwas langwelig,
aber,
spaeter wurde es dann doch noch interessant und hab dieses Buch gerne zu Ende gelesen,

I actually liked the story and the writing, but why would you end the book before it really starts?? We are working 230 pages long towards the big boom that just does not happen in the whole book. Not even in the end. We don't even get a glimpse of it. Utterly unsatisfying.
