If you commit a crime on Vaharis 6, there’s more than one way to work off your sentence…

Sam doesn’t know what to think when his “alternative sentence” ends up being an arranged courtship with another male panther shifter. It’s better than going to prison, but Sam can’t help worrying when he finds out how much was paid for his freedom … and how determined his new keeper is to make Sam his true mate.

Laxus has been shunned by other shifters for many reasons, including his preference for male lovers. He’s more than willing to rescue Sam from the horrors of prison life, especially when he sees Sam’s reaction to his touch. As the younger man tries to deny his reactions, Laxus becomes more resolute than ever to seduce Sam and work his way into his heart.

I think this one was a little bit better than the first book, probably because there was no failed D/s dynamic, even though there's still a common factor of the rich MC being somewhat dominant and the age gap being big, so I guess all the books work on that formula .

In this story Sam is in the same prison on Varharis 6 and he's a panther shifter who gets picked out by another older, rich male panther shifter, Laxus.

They both go to Laxus' planet, where they live in a fairytale cabin and a beautiful environment with Laxus being the planet's renowned doctor and no other shifter wanting him as a mate, because he's scarred and he prefers men, which is frowned upon with panther shifters , but he decides to take a chance with Sam.

🟢 They get to know each other, but it's mostly based on scent and arousal and they have sex, lots of it.
Sounds great, right?

Well.
If this would at least be shifter porn in its fullest, pure erotica, I'd definitely rate it higher, but again, it wasn't at all, their dialogues fell flat and I had almost no sense of their characters. Their relationship and chemistry did come through a little bit more than of the MCs in the first book, but it still wasn't good.

🔵 I would have expected for the topic of consent to be more talked about between the MCs, the bought prisoner should have an out, should know if he doesn't want it, it won't happen, but I felt like they all just go for it, because it's better than being in prison.

So in that respect, their love story doesn't feel special or rewarding, and this goes for the first book aswell.
But this couple was more likeable than the first.

The next book is again based on the D/s dynamic and I really hope it gets better.

I liked this one better than the first one. There's the whole aggressive take charge to tender wanting to please lover. Kind of like the best of both cus the aggressive isn't super out there, just authoritively being told what to do at times and just taking charge others.

Just an okay mild shifter romance

You ever wanted to like a book but you just didn't? Yeah, me too.

While this book isn't as sterile as the first one, it's still kind of...bland. Like I see where the author attempted to add padding but it didn't do it's job. Padding in a romance is supposed to add character development, provide enduring quirks and/ or emotional angst, make us root for the romance. And while things were added, they just didn't do anything. In fact, because this book is so sort, I was left wondering why it was there at all. Like did we really need so much detail about and surrounding the surgeries Laxus performs? Or be introduced to a character we only see for a few pages? One might say not.

Was it still pretty hot? Yes. Are there any real glaring errors? No. I was just a little board and felt things go repetitive. Three stars because it's fine romance but that's all it is really. Just fine.

Short and Fluffy

This is the first book I’m reading of this author and series. I will say that it is mostly fluffy and sweet, romantic. The MCs fall really fast but it’s 70-ish pages so of course they do. I only wish the movement of time was a bit more spaced out. Like chapter 1 is like month 1 and so on. It seems the MCs were attached somewhat by day eight. And although it’s short, this is a technical arranged marriage/bond story. Those take “time”. Also, there are a few details that kind of seem beside the story - such as the detailed surgeries and the brief mentions/cameos of the ex. But besides that it was a cute, fast, read 🙂

Good book

This was even better than the first book in the series. The only thing I disliked was the indecisiveness that Sam had. In the situation that he was in, he didnt have many choices. But being so young and inexperienced, I understood some, but after awhile it became a little annoying.
