My parents tell me I've been writing since I could hold a pencil. What I know is that I have always loved writing! I love creating the characters I care about, their families and friends, the exciting worlds they live in, and how they conquer their challenges! If I'm not writing (or doing high school homework), I'm probably singing, watching TV or YouTube, or chilling with the two most wonderful dogs in the world -- Snowball and Sandcastle "Sandy." Of course, I also love hanging out with my friends, my parents, and my brother Nate, whenever he's home from college.

This blurb of this book sounded so exciting, I was desperate to read it. Unfortunately, the contents didn't match my high hopes. It had so much promise and others will probably love this, but I felt like it still needed editing and polishing. It has great potential and I suspect the next book in the series will be brilliant. It's amazing that this has been written by a 15-year-old!

Wow! I just finished this action packed fantasy! I was on the edge of my seat as Oliver, Jess and the gang all used their collective superpowers to battle the evil villains of Vork. If you enjoyed the Harry Potter books or the Incredibles then I know you will love “Welcome to Superhero School.” It was filled with adventure and magical creatures. I loved getting to know all of the characters and watching them develop as they learned to use their superpowers to battle together. This is a great story of friendship, teamwork and good vs evil. I loved every minute of it. What an amazing debut novel by 17 year old Gracie Dix! Can’t wait to see what she has in store for the gang in her next novel!

Super twins Oliver and Jessica embark on a mission to defeat the evil villains of Vork. They team up with several of their friends who all have varying abilities such as flying, morphing, teleportation and powers connected to the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, to name just a few. Through their many adventures they find themselves in some serious jams, which require more than one super power and a combined effort of problem solving from the group. The themes of friendship, co-operation and persevering against overwhelming odds are skilfully woven through this action packed story. Our heroes also have their own hurdles to overcome, particularly Oliver who must learn to become a leader. Magical and frightening creatures, visits to different worlds and unexpected plot developments keep us on our toes as the pages fly by. All in all a fabulous read. Simply unputdownable. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Welcome to Superhero School. Here students have extraordinary abilities. Oliver and his friends embark on a mission to defeat the evil villains of Vork. Throughout the journey, they face deadly challenges however with their superpowers and quick thinking they learn to handle every danger bravely.

Each character is gifted with superpowers that will leave in awe. I also admire that the author kept the humor throughout the book even when the characters were in danger. Each chapter brought new adventure and watching Oliver, Jess, Teddy, Ondrea, Will and Darla take on these menacing masterminds was definitely something that I enjoyed because they realize that the importance of friendship and loyalty but more importantly believing in themselves. And meeting new people in the way was something that I didn’t anticipated however it was fun to see that these me characters also contributed to their mission. Amazingly well-written with an unique world building, Welcome to superhero school is a must read.

I loved this book. It was such amazing adventurous story with beautiful friendship at its core. Gracie’s writing style is extraordinarily gripping because right from the beginning I was enchanted with whole story. I love that! Besides, the wonderful storyline, the author created characters that were immediately perceived as friends. The fantastic funny retorts from them were absolutely my favorite. I had so many laugh out loud moments especially when Darla makes a funny comment.

Welcome to superhero school kicks off the series magnificently. Comparing it to any other books would be difficult because this is a masterpiece. I cannot wait to read the upcoming books from this series.

Gracie Dix's debut book is a fun Middle Grade adventure that takes you on a magical ride. There are only a few children who have superpowers in them, and these superpowers are dependent on the nature elements like Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. These special children have a special school dedicated for their education. This book is about 6 friends who have been chosen to fight some of the supervillians from Vork who threaten to destroy them and their Superhero School.

Oliver and Jess - the twins, and some of their friends have been selected in this secret mission to save the school. It is not clear why they were the ones chosen but the twins and their friends are some of the strongest in their school. With a myriad of superpowers, and under the leadership of Oliver, the friends embark on a journey to stop the mystery man who calls himself 'The Stranger.' Along the way, they lose some people from the group and gain some.

The story is nothing novel, yet, author Gracie Dix has managed to pen down an interesting book that will definitely keep you are engaged. The book is fast-paced and it's full of action scenes. There were lots of comic scenes as well that were in the form of some friendly banters in between the friends. The supervillians have a comical side to their personality as well, which makes this book a fun read.

If you like books filled with super heroes, action, adventure, friendship, and heart...this one is a definite bet for your "must read" list! You get to know the characters as if you are one of the crew. You have the inside scoop on the dastardly deeds that you're trying to avert. You have the chance to see the good side and troublesome side of having actual super powers....something we'll get to a little more in a moment...and all the while, you're holding your breath to see if they can actually pull together to pull it off and save the day!

Welcome to Superhero School is a new middle-grade adventure about a group of friends, each with their own superpowers, who are on a mission to destroy the evil Vork. There is a large cast of interesting characters, including the main protagonists, brother and sister duo, Jess and Oliver. The twins are relatively new to the school where students are taught to train and harness their super-abilities. As you can imagine, Superhero School is not like any normal, run-of-the-mill school. Its nature makes it a fitting target for villains who seek to kidnap students for use in their own unscrupulous aims. When their friends are threatened, Jess and Oliver must learn to control their own superpowers as well as work together as a team with the rest of their friends in order to confront the evil threat.
This was an exciting adventure story for kids with plenty of action. I would have liked to see a little less shouting in capital letters in the dialogue, as it felt as if there was a constantly high level of noise without much relief which became somewhat taxing as a reader. However, I dare say that opinion might have something to do with my advanced age, and a middle-grade reader might not have taken such issue.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an unproofed edition of this story which still contained paragraph numbers. I was informed that significant edits were still to be made with respect to one of the chapters and other minor edits would also be taking place before completion. Welcome to Superhero School is a fun, energetic read for middle-graders and the first in a series! I wonder what Jess, Oliver, and the superhero gang will get up to next?

Welcome to Superhero School, the first book of The Vork Chronicles by Gracie Dix, takes readers on an energetic adventure into a world where young superheroes-in-training must learn to control their powers and face off against the threats lurking in their midst. The story centers around Oliver and Jessica Fletcher, twin siblings with remarkable powers, who find themselves thrust into an exciting yet dangerous life at a school designed specifically for super-powered individuals. With a cast of diverse characters possessing unique abilities and a plot packed with schoolyard antics, perilous missions, and self-discovery, this book is a vibrant dive into a world of youthful heroism.

One thing that stood out to me was how lively and fast-paced the writing was. Dix pulls no punches when it comes to moving the plot along, with one action-packed scene quickly following another. This is especially clear when Oliver and Jessica find themselves amid a school fire, both showing off their impressive powers in a tense and heartwarming sequence. However, the speed at which the story unfolds also means that, at times, it can feel rushed, leaving less room for the characters to breathe and develop. I also appreciated how the book tackled themes of friendship and self-acceptance. Dix weaves these into the narrative in a natural and relatable way, especially for younger readers. The dynamic between Oliver and his best friend Teddy and Jessica’s loyalty to her brother underscores the importance of looking out for those you care about. The twins’ journey from feeling out of place to finding their identity as superheroes is engaging. However, some emotional beats, like Jessica’s internal struggles, could have been explored further to give more depth to their growth. That said, some of the side characters could have been more fleshed out. While figures like Ondrea and Darla add a lot of fun to the mix with their varied powers and personalities, they sometimes feel overshadowed by the action. The idea of a superhero school is brimming with possibilities, but the classroom and social dynamics sometimes play second fiddle to the explosive showdowns. A little more focus on the day-to-day lives of these students would have enriched the worldbuilding, making the stakes feel even higher when things inevitably spiral into chaos.

Welcome to Superhero School is a fun, action-packed read with plenty of heart. Gracie Dix creates a colorful world where young heroes navigate both extraordinary powers and the ordinary challenges of growing up. I’d recommend this book to younger readers, particularly those who love stories with a quick pace, larger-than-life characters, and lots of superhero excitement. It’s a lighthearted, high-energy adventure that is sure to appeal to fans of superhero tales with a dash of school drama thrown in.

Welcome to Superhero School! by Gracie Dix delivers a thrilling, action-packed adventure that never lets up. The story centers on twins Oliver and Jessica, who, along with their friends, take on the evil forces of Vork. These young heroes wield jaw-dropping Powers like Flight, Morphing, Invisibility, and Mind Reading. Their mission leads them through dark sewers, dense jungles, and encounters with dinosaurs and dragons. Yet, the challenges they face aren’t just monsters and villains. Each hero must confront inner fears and past struggles to fully harness their abilities and come together as a team. The stakes are sky-high, and the world’s fate hangs by a thread, creating a compelling narrative about courage, unity, and the unbreakable bonds of friendship.

This book is a delightful blend of pulse-pounding action, humor, and touching moments. The author brilliantly intertwines themes of perseverance, self-discovery, and the power of friendship in a story that keeps you guessing. The dynamic between Oliver and Jessica is especially engaging; their journey from hesitant siblings to inspiring leaders is heartwarming and relatable. Watching them navigate trust and leadership feels real and powerful, a genuine highlight of the narrative. The settings burst with imagination, from perilous sewers crawling with danger to lush, magical jungles brimming with mythical creatures. It’s hard not to get swept up in these vividly crafted worlds. Each character’s unique Power brings something fresh to the table, and it’s fascinating to see how they creatively combine their abilities to tackle obstacles. Oliver’s arc, in particular, is a standout. His growth from uncertainty to a confident leader adds emotional weight to the story, making every battle feel personal and impactful. What truly sets Welcome to Superhero School! apart is its seamless balance of relentless action and rich character development. The villains of Vork are a constant, cunning threat, always keeping the heroes on edge. Yet the story’s heart lies in learning to accept one’s individuality and discovering strength through teamwork. The emotional highs are as gripping as the suspenseful action, creating a reading experience that feels deeply satisfying.

This is a page-turner in every sense, captivating from beginning to end. With humor, intense suspense, and valuable life lessons, Welcome to Superhero School! is an unforgettable read for all ages. Fans of superhero adventures with a strong message will find so much to love. I’m already eager for the sequel, this world is too exciting to leave behind.

Welcome To Superhero School is the first book in the middle grade fantasy series called The Vork Chronicles by Gracie Dix. I really enjoyed Welcome to Superhero School and I can’t wait to continue on with the series. I was particularly impressed by Gracie Dix is a teen author, and I think she did a fantastic job creating a fun and super interesting book. If you are a fan of middle grade and of superheroes, then this is a book you do not want to miss.

In Welcome to Superhero school we join our main characters twins Oliver & Jess, as they attend superhero school. There they meet up with a great group of friends with all kinds of cool powers. At school, the students are taught how to grow and harness their powers. This book gave me major the Incredibles vibes, which is awesome and fun. I loved the variety of powers that the students have and I loved how they all came together to fight the villains. I loved that Gracie put together strong friendships in this super crew. I loved how everyone teamed up to fight evil. It was a great message and worked well with the overall fun vibe of the book.

This book is pure middle grade action/adventure fun. If you love fast paced stories with great characters and fun superpowers, then I think you will love Welcome to Superhero School. I can’t wait to see where the story is going to go from here. I am sure that our crew of young superheroes in training are going to get up to many more hijinks and world saving in the future and I cannot wait to dive in with them!

This book being a debut for a 17 yr old is absolutely fantastic and it has the prospects to be an amazing series as this group of friends with Oliver, Jess and co go through the school.
This book was action packed from very early on and didn’t stop as you worked through the book. This book is definitely like a clash between Potter and Disney’s heroic family The Incredibles so can cover a wide audience. I would be very interested to see where this book series goes.
I wish Gracie all the best with her career in book writing as she has a solid foundation to get her started with this book and she will be around for a long time to come and as her writing progresses i can definitely see her becoming a household name.
My final rating for this book was 4.5 stars and can i just say a huge thank you to Gracie for personally sending me a copy of her book. I wish you every success as you deserve it x

A real page-turner packed with adventures. Something is always happening around Super Power twins Oliver and Jessica and their Superhero friends who are on a mission to eliminate the evil guys of Vork. There are so many different superpowers but my favorite is morphing into a Dragon. And if Superheroes are not your cup of tea (is this even possible!!!) there is Dark Magic, dragons, dinosaurs, jungles, parallel universes. But also the power of family and friends.
Loved it 💓 from the first page to the last.
