He’s my very own Romeo, she’s my Juliet. When he looks at me, I’m on fire, when she smiles, I’m home, but loving each other is forbidden and being together is the ultimate betrayal...
Enzo Ricci is reluctantly next in line for the throne of The Loro Ombra, one of the most powerful crime families in the world, but for his father he plays the perfect heir. That is until an attack on one of the syndicates takes him to New York and he meets Brianna O’Callaghan, the feisty and beautiful daughter of his family’s enemy. Turning a blind eye to the violence and throwing herself into her art is Bree’s way of coping with her family’s tragic past, until she comes face to face with a brutally gorgeous man in her gallery, and she begins to question her loyalties. She’s drawn to Enzo...tempted by him, despite the things she knows he’s done, and just the sight of her has him wondering if there is more to life than being the heir. On opposite sides of a brewing mafia war, they must decide if their own agendas are more important than the bond they share...but when Brianna’s memories are lost, it’s down to Enzo to bring her back, or risk losing her for good.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book was my first by Dawn Lockhart and it was absolutely amazing! IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The story between Enzo, the Italian Prince and Brianna, the Irish Princess had me captivated from the very beginning. This is definitely a story of forbidden love and the lengths each will go through just to be together. Let me add, these are some extreme thought out lengths!! There are so many ups and downs, I felt like I was on one awesome roller coaster. The thought and detail that went into each character made you visualize the scenarios like you were right there with them. This is a story of betraying and being betrayed by families and standing your ground for what you want and not what everyone else wants. The situations each off the main and supporting characters faced were as believable as they were enchanting!!
I can not wait to see what the next book holds for these two and their families. I was definitely left wanting more!
Wow, what a rush! This is my first book by Dawn Lockhart, but I know it won’t be the last.
You meet Enzo, the Italian Prince, and Bree, the Irish Princess and you watch a modern day Romeo and Juliet story unfold. They weren’t supposed to be together, you get to watch them struggle with their feelings, with their families and all that life has to throw at them. You get to see them struggle with their personal feelings and while watching their story unfold, you feel all their emotions at the same time. You get a taste of what their lives must be like, to have to fight to get what they want and to be willing to let it all go so the other one is safe. Their love withstands some crazy things, some crazy situations and some crazy people. So well written that I was able to transport myself into their world.
This book was very good and I can’t wait to read more. I did get this book as an arc and have given an honest review.
Enzo. Omg. I actually super love him as a character. EVEN THOUGH he ticked me off at a *certain* point, he totally redeemed himself and then some. Several twists I didn’t see coming. His and Bree’s chemistry is really good, and they totally pull off the Romeo/Juliet vibe with all the angsty goodness that brings. The mafia drama is gritty, too. I really enjoyed it!!
