Alana Scott runs a cooking website, and has all her recipes reviewed by a FODMAP trained, registered dietitian. Her many followers have been asking for the best ones to be gathered into a book, so here it is! Delicious dinners, breakfasts, lunches and snacks, plus sweet treats and plenty of easy-to-read background information on FODMAPS, a shopping guide, and how to change your eating through the whole cycle of the low-FODMAP journey. FODMAP is an acronym that represents a group of fermentable sugars (Fermentable Oligo-saccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols - short-chain carbohydrates) that are found in a wide range of foods and can trigger unpleasant gastrointestinal symptoms in some people.
As someone who is learning how to maintain low Fodmap recipes while also treating myself to my favourite foods this cookbook is full of recipes I will be using. It also has lots of swaps at the start if you know what basics can affect your tummy - that's great. I feel like it is quite basic for people who might be really "foody" but I am all about eating food that doesn't make me feel sick, so alterations to foods I already love is the perfect idea. I Will update once I've tested a few recipes out, but I want to try almost every recipe which never happens with cook books. The "Sweet Treat"section includes, muffins, cakes, slices, chocolate brownie and chocolate chip biscuits as well as lemon meringue pie and Pavlova.
Basic knowledge on Low FODMAP and good for a modern consumer, who doesn’t have a lot of time to prep, and for those on a budget. This is a great intro to Alana’s expanded business. I think she could’ve marketed her program much better in the book, but her membership (very good value) includes online dietician support, virtual educational discussions on IBS, and e-courses to make your journey less horrible. For those who want more ideas AND flexibility to adjust preferences, I recommend looking into her weekly meal planner. It takes a lot of the pressure off of the consumer to find recipes online that are low FODMAP friendly, and saves you a lot of time. Her edge over others is that there is no 1 month plan, the life long roller coaster needs to be accepted, and she offers a platform for discussion. P.s. she does have a lot more recipes online, but you have to be a member to access hundreds of them — and she’s always coming up with something new.
It has some good information. However, many of the recipes just weren't to my, or my families', taste. I think I only saved 2 from the whole book to maybe try. *side note... FODMAP follower for about 4 years.

I actually read four low fodmap cookbooks but I’m only cataloging this one. It was definitely the best of them and had some good recipes we used while my daughter was on low fodmap protocol.
I like the information in the book about FODMAP because I had no clue about it. But the recipes were just not to my taste. Most of the ingredients I don't like.
