Interesting angle—Johnston takes neither a music-focused or physics-focused approach; he does truly blend them in his grand narrative starting from the Pythagoreans and culminating with modern musical production. I was generally intrigued by his approach, though at times his refusal to deal with mathematical realities in favor of general-reader comprehensibility can cause undue verbosity. Overall, though, this is a good book for the musically and scientifically inclined.
