I enjoyed this book so much that I couldn't put it down!
Parts of this story made me want to cry because of the bullying and there places in this book that made me mad. Kids can be so cruel!! I wanted to choke everyone of them especially the instigator. My heart went to Kaitlyn and Drew too.
I think everyone is self conscious about themselves at one time or another. I was and still sort of am.
So I can certainly understand that part.
I really liked this book and I think it's Lee's best one yet.
She has that certain unique way of telling a story that will make you fall in love with her characters. It's like she has a magical way of drawing you into the story right away! I love that!
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed Kaitlyn's journey and I felt her emotions at every turn in this story.
I didn't really like Sophia still. I thought she was rather snooty and only interested in herself.
Poor Drew! That's all I'll say about him but I do love his determination and how he deals with things pertaining to life. He doesn't give up!
I'm not sure how I feel about Ria.
I feel like she gives me mixed signals throughout the story.
But I still enjoyed this book so much!!
I finished it I a couple of hours. I love books that keeps me entertained and passes the hours in this unusual time in our lives right now.

Reunion at the Shore by Lee Tobin McClain is the second book in her The Off Season series.
Ria Martin, the owner of a small, struggling motel, the Chesapeake Motor Lodge, has two teenage daughters, who are troubled and having problems at school. She’s contacted her ex-husband Drew to solicit his help with their daughters.
Drew Martin has been out of contact with his ex-wife and their children for months, because he didn’t want them to know about the head injury that left him with a severe visual impairment.
Ria and Drew are thrown together when he returns to Pleasant Shores to reconnect with his children. Ria notices that Drew has changed positively in fundamental ways. The attraction has never lessened for either of them. Will they put aside the differences that led to their divorce and give marriage and their family a second chance?
Reunion at the Shore is as compelling as the previous book of the series. We are reintroduced and given a deeper look at some of the characters. This isn’t just a heartwarming romance. Once again the author touches on some important issues faced by women. I throughly enjoyed this novel. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all lovers of heartwarming second chance romance.
The included sneak peek at the next book in the series, Christmas on the Coast, is riveting. I am excited for it’s release.

I have read two of the books in The Off Season series and wanted to catch up with those I missed. I am glad I made that decision because I really enjoyed Reunion at the Shore. Ria and Drew Martin’s marriage fell apart and they got divorced, Ria moved with their two daughters to the small town of Pleasant Shores, where she grew up. She purchased a small, local motel, cleaned it up and now it is her main source of income along with child support payments from Drew. When her youngest daughter begins having problems and skipping school, she tries to get a hold of him to talk about it. He won't return her calls, so she heads back to the city to find him and talk in person. She didn't expect to find him without his police officer's job and a traumatic brain injury that has taken away his sight. He goes back to Pleasant Shores to co-parent while he gets his life in order. Drew and Ria realize that they still have feelings for one another, but that wasn't the reason they split up.
This was a second chance romance story but it also has several heavier subject matters within it's covers. Both daughters, Kaitlyn and Sophia, are dealing with major issues in their lives. Bullying is a large part of this story. I know kids can be cruel, but with technology, bullying is at a new level and Lee Tobin McClain used this to show us what kids are going through these days. There is also body shaming and some sexual harassment issues including coercion. The girls have to find out what true friendship means and that popularity isn't all its cracked up to be. Meanwhile Ria and Drew are dealing with the fallout of what the girls are dealing with. Drew was a macho police officer raised by a man who was a bully and he was trying to change. Every time they took two steps forward the old Drew would make an appearance and they would take one step back. We also meet Drew's family and they were an interesting bunch. I loved almost all of the characters in this story. Obviously, the boys involved in the bullying and Drew's father were unlikable as the author intended, but everyone else had great characteristics that made their changes and redemption happy occurrences. All the books in this series deal with a "hero" who is healing or rehabbing in some way, along with a canine. Drew was a canine officer and after his injury, he was allowed to keep his canine partner, who plays a role in the story helping the girls find new interests and friends. This story has themes of bullying (both kids and adults), responsible parenting, suicide, teen pregnancy, self-acceptance, body shaming, sexual harassment, and friendship. The only reason this book did not get 5 stars was the improbable way the girls got back at the male bullies with their parents permission to try their dangerous scheme. Another great addition to this series.

I couldn't stop reading this book! It's a clean, general market story that deals with lots of gritty and sensitive topics. I'm sure you can read other reviews and determine if those topics are ones you want to dive into or not.
Did I agree with every decision the teens or the parents made? No, definitely not. But was I intrigued by the storyline? Yes! Especially the storyline between Ria and Drew. These two clearly both still loved each other and were both still very much attracted to each other. They also had some big issues in their past that they had to overcome. I liked that Drew had changed a lot and grown a lot emotionally since the divorce and even since his injury. But he definitely still reacted to some things badly. It, honestly, wouldn't have seemed very realistic if he hadn't. The behavior he had been taught by his father was pretty ingrained and the fact that he had changed as much as he did and then rectified what he had done wrong when confronted about it was impressive.
These two characters are ones that I could imagine having a whole lifetime ahead of them with a better marriage than they ever had before, now that communication, body image issues, and knowing that their marriage is based on love are things they actively work on.

2 responsible parents let their teenage daughters deal with 3 boys who are sexually harassing and even assaulting them both in person and online. And sorry, but if a boy tells a girl that he will only remove a compromising picture of her sister from online if she has sex with him, that's assault, not consensual. I would have expected and been ok with type of solution from a teen novel, but it wasn't ok in a novel that focuses on the parents. Very jarring in an otherwise ok novel.

Bella storia: il protagonista maschile deve imparare a convivere col fatto che è quasi del tutto cieco mentre le figlie sono alle prese con dei bulli. Mi piace come alla fine un gruppetto di ragazzine risolva quest'ultimo problema, ma avrei preferito che i bulli venissero puniti dalla polizia e dal sistema giudiziario perché a un certo punto si sono veramente spinti troppo in là. Per il resto è una storia sulle seconde possibilità e su come sia sbagliato un certo tipo di visione maschilista della vita.

I found the story to be too depressing. The H & h were argumentative throughout most of the book. The younger daughter was not respectful and the older daughter was just plain foolish. The story just kept getting darker as I read. There was just too much depressing story to wade through. So I gave up at 2/3 of the book and just read the ending which by the way was the best part of the book.

Ria Martin didn't know her ex-husband had lost his sight. She just knew he wasn't being very responsive these days. But then that had been one of the biggest problems in their marriage - lack of communication. Now their fourteen-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn needs both her parents to step in and help sort out her problems. Kaitlyn is not being very communicative either. That's why Ria decided to go to Baltimore to confront her ex-husband, former police officer Drew Martin. That's when Ria found out about Drew's loss of sight. They need to work together though for both their daughters' sakes.
Drew Martin is having a tough time dealing with his loss of sight due to a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) incurred while on duty. In very good light he can see some things but the images are very blurry. He has withdrawn into himself and avoids visitors. When his ex-wife Ria tracks him down to tell him about their daughter Kaitlyn experiencing difficulties at school and seeks his help Drew realizes he needs to leave his self-pity behind and step-up to help Kaitlyn. Since Ria and his daughters are now in Pleasant Shores where Ria owns and operates a motel Drew needs to find a place to stay for a while. Someplace other than Ria's motel. He ends up entering a program in Pleasant Shores which allows wounded police officers to stay at The Cottage in exchange for some volunteer work. It works out well for Drew and his former K-9 partner Navy. Maybe he will have a chance to get back together with Ria as he still loves her and they could all be a family again.
Reunion at the Shore by Lee Tobin McClain is the second book in her Off Season series. This story was a very emotional read for me. Ms. McClain deals with some tough, emotional subjects throughout the storyline. The obvious one is divorced parents dealing with their children and their children's problems together. There is so much more in this story. The author addresses bullying/cyber bullying, body image hangups, miscarriage and teen suicide, all in a satisfying way and not at all depressing as these subjects can sometimes be. I liked how well done these topics were addressed. It sure seems to me that these issues were well researched.
The characters came to life on the pages of this book and drew me in ready to share their problems and successes. I liked getting to see characters from the first book in the series. It's always fun to keep up with all the characters in the series. I am looking forward to the next book in this series, Christmas on the Coast.

Ria is a single mother who is going through some issues with her teenage daughters and needs the help of her ex the father of her daughters since he used to be the one to get though to them. She never expected to find out he was dealing with his own issues while on the job he was injured to the point where he's pretty much blind. Drew will come back to help his daughters but it seems the old feelings between Ria and him will make things a bit complicated but they are trying their best to keep things from falling apart.
This was a nice little contemporary read. It wasn't much of a romance but more of a second chance at being a family kinda book. Normally I hate when the book has more then the two main characters but there was also the point of views of the daughters and it really did add more to the book. The girls were going through modern teenage issues with social media, body and self image issues and it was interesting seeing how they did things in that part. It was also heart breaking seeing how the teens too things as well. These were things the parents weren't' aware of and I'm glad to have not have been as clueless as they were. The parents were doing as much as they could and the mother had a hard time trying to keep things afloat and be a good mother. The father on the other hand wanted to be there but wasn't and now the blindness just added a new sort of challenge. There is so much going on in this family and it was interesting seeing how everything played out. Overall pretty good book I enjoyed it.
This was a nice little contemporary read. It wasn't much of a romance but more of a second chance at being a family kinda book. Normally I hate when the book has more then the two main characters but there was also the point of views of the daughters and it really did add more to the book. The girls were going through modern teenage issues with social media, body and self image issues and it was interesting seeing how they did things in that part. It was also heart breaking seeing how the teens too things as well. These were things the parents weren't' aware of and I'm glad to have not have been as clueless as they were. The parents were doing as much as they could and the mother had a hard time trying to keep things afloat and be a good mother. The father on the other hand wanted to be there but wasn't and now the blindness just added a new sort of challenge. There is so much going on in this family and it was interesting seeing how everything played out. Overall pretty good book I enjoyed it.

When I read the Low Country series, I never thought McClain would be able to create another book world I would want to live I forever, but she's done it again with The Off Season. Shs hits the heart with a double punch by including first responders as well as canine heroes. Add in a second chance between divorced parents, and my heart is done.

Reunion at the Shore By Lee Tobin McClain . Lee has done it again in this story you will find first responders, dog , beach and children and a lot of romance. After a divorce Ria takes her girls and moves. She soon finds herself over her head with problems with her teen daughter and the troubles of her motel even with the help of her mother. She reaches out to her ex and he doesn’t respond so she goes and finds him. She finds is not what she expected and had thought up in her head. What she finds is that her ex-husband is now blind from the injury and that is why he has not been responding to her and not visited his girls. After some preparation he goes to visit and try to help figure out the issue that is going on with his teenage daughter. As they try to help their daughter Kaitlyn it soon becomes apparent that Sophia has issues as well.Ria and Drew find love again. Their struggles is far from being over for them Ria has kept a terrible secret from everyone. Whether or not they can recover from this devastating secret she has kept as well as what has happened with their daughters is an amazing story. She addresses bullying ,divorce ,body image, teen suicide and much more. Once you start reading you won’t be able to put it down!!!

Another amazing book by the author. I always know that when I pick up one of Ms. Tobin McClain's books - I will be reading a heartwarming, well written, flowy story. Rita finds herself a newly single mother running a motel with a teenager (Kaitlyn) who is spiraling out of control. Drew, has changed a lot since the divorce - and knows that he has to be a major part of the kids lives. Can he do so without causing problems with Rita? Drew, who is former law enforcement K9 handler, moves back to be with the kids - but is able to get into a program that will allow wounded officers to stay for free -- and assist with volunteer work. This helps him get his head in the right place. I love books that have k9 doggies in it :). What will happen when both realize the other has changed and there is still feelings?
This is book 2 of the Off Season series - and it can be read as a stand alone.
I love the characters in this book. I love the series. I love how this author writes. I cannot wait until the next book.

This book is loaded with emotions, when Ria, a divorced mother of two struggles raising 2 teenage daughters. After her ex-husband has turned incommunicado for several months, she returns to Boston to confront Drew & enlist his help. Drew is struggling himself, trying to adjust to his new life visually impaired, he has not shared this with Ria or his daughters.
This story addresses both adults & teens issues with secrets & insecurities. Life changes, bullying, cyberbullying, & addressing these issues.
I am so glad I found this book. I have read several of Lee's books in a different series.

This is a second chance novel in more ways than one. Ria and Drew have been divorced for several years. She's moved and is managing a motel and their daughters- and things are going well. And then, they aren't. Kaitlyn, her 14 year old, is acting oddly and won't talk with Ria. Ria reaches out to Drew who doesn't respond so she just shows up and finds out that he's struggling with a TBI and almost total blindness. And with the fact that he can no longer be a police officer. But he can be a dad and with the help of his dog Navy, he begins to navigate his way back to Ria and to life. This touches on the impact of cyberbullying but the real focus is on restoring the family. It's a good positive read. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC. Perfect to cheer you during dark times.

Talk about a excellent book. Its about rediscovery. Drew & Ria Martin had divorced because of many reasons. Then their daughters were in trouble. Ria makes a discovery that Drew is blind. They both had changed. Its about learning about each other plus changing preconceived ideas parents had taught them both. Their daughters are also an internal part of this book. They deal with a issue that is such a problem today. You will laugh and cry as this couple goes on their journey. For there is a secret revealed as well. Its a special book for the ending will have you cheering for the two. Its a great book and I'm looking forward for book 3. I'm hoping for a story about Mary. She has me so curious about her and wanting her to have a happy ending. J

Although the author touches on life alternating events like divorce, teenage peer pressure, drama, drugs and suicide; I found it realistic, heartwarming and hopeful.
Ria and Drew try to co-parent after their divorce for the sake of their girls but find it hard with the different family and extended family dynamics and traditions.
I enjoyed reading this clean contemporary romance-perfect for weekend reading. The characters and story line were engaging and kept my interest.

Reunion at the Shore deals with several family dynamics including pressures teenagers can face! Ria Martin works hard to be a good mother to her teenage daughters following her divorce from their father. Drew Martin was always an involved father but he doesn't want Ria and the girls to know about the trauma he has faced so he becomes an absentee dad. Drew and Ria strive to be better parents after the girls face difficult situations. All of the family learns that they need to be honest with one another. You will enjoy this book set at the Chesapeake Bay! I received a complimentary book from the author. This is my honest opinion.

This is a heartwarming story of second chances and family, and it deals with the issues of bullying, cyber bullying, and issues with body image. It is handled well while incorporating the story of Drew and Ria, who are putting aside past hurts and secrets to move forward while dealing with unresolved emotions, healing their relationship and helping their teenaged daughters navigate friendships and adolescence. Touching and compelling, this was a delightful return to Pleasant Shores and the entertaining characters that live there.

When Ria moved to Pleasant Shores her and the girls life change. When Ria starts seeing that Kaitlyn is having problems she knows she has to contact Drew. When Ria finds Drew she is shocked when she finds out what happened to him. When Drew shows up at Pleasant Shores all of there lives will change. You will feel God working throughout this wonderful story. Lee is a amazing Christian author. You won’t be able to stop reading her books. I had the honor to review this book for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.

Another great book by Lee Tobin McClain When I picked this book up it was hard to put it down ! Ria is struggling to raise her 2 daughters on her own and to run a hotel Kaitlyn her youngest daughter is having trouble at school and she goes to find her ex-husband Drew to see if he will come back to The Shore to talk to their daughters only to find out he has had an accident and he is blind! But they find out Kaitlyn has been bullied at school! This is such a great book I gave it a 5 star if you haven't read you should you wont be disappointed this is a page turner!

Lee Tobin McClain has shown, once again, that she is not afraid to tackle tough subjects. Bullying, body image, handicaps, teenage pregnancy, among others. She did a great job of weaving it all together into a wonderful story. I would like to say I couldn’t put the book down, but I had to occasionally. I was getting so emotionally into the story that I had to take a break, but not for long. I had to see what happened next. This is a great book and I would recommend it.

The second in a series, although it can be read as a standalone story, was a bit slow at times. It wrapped up quickly and it was great to see all story elements resolved.
I will say the reader should be aware this deals with a lot of teen angst and issues, including a suicide attempt, teen bullying, cyber bullying, and teenage pregnancy.
Looking forward to Amber's story in book 3 due in December.

This is book 2 in the Off season series and can be read as a stand alone. It can be read as a stand alone, I did not read book 1. Ria and Drew are divorced but have both grown and matured. Their daughters are being bullied and Ria needs help. Drew has lost most of his sight since the divorce and not sure how much help he can be. This story highlights the consequences of teens being bullied and the resolution may be a little unrealistic but the story is a good one. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
