Rate this book
May returned home from the Second Augment War having left parts of herself behind, emotionally and literally. An inventor at heart, she built herself cybernetic legs to regain her mobility, and then a suit of powered armor to regain a purpose in her life as the superhero Escuda. But can she balance being a superhero with a love life? The country’s most celebrated superhero, Steel Patriot, has moved to her town. Sure, Escuda will be able to work with him easily enough, but can May get his attention, while also dealing with a new breed of supervillain on the rise?

Superheroes Against Supervillains

I outgrew comic books a long time ago. I have absolutely no use for "graphic novels." But everybody loves a superhero.
Here in prose we have a really well done superhero novel. I love it!
Action, romance, good versus evil, and some interesting Science Fiction. What more could anyone want?
(Except better proofreading.) The proofing is barely adequate. The errors are annoying, but not bad enough to keep me from reading Anjewierden's next novel.

A good read, but not a great read. Superheroes and villains. Romance. Battles. How could it possibly go wrong? Too. Many. Words. A really good editor could have knocked 50 pages of this, and produced more balance between the story elements, with a smoother read. Kudos to the author for a solid story. The author obviously thought his created world through in great detail. I had this pegged as a YA for readability--not sure of the actual intent.
