Nate Driscoll is lost.

Awakening from a hiking accident, he has no recollection of his surroundings, his family, or even his self. With the help of his wife and daughter, he slowly settles back into his former life as a high school teacher. But as people disappear and the body count starts to rise in his sleepy Indiana town, Nate’s life begins to unravel, and he is forced to question whether his past is actually darker than he’s been led to believe.

But he is not alone.

Tasked with overseeing a classified government project, Matt Jacobson is a hardened agent with a job to do, and he’s never failed a mission before. But recently his sleepless nights have been filled with ghosts that won’t be denied, and the only way to silence their whispers might lie with the one man he’s sworn to deceive.

Burton’s suspenseful debut examines the limits of modern neuroscience, seamlessly woven with humor and horror at every turn. His thrilling tale will keep you guessing, and might even have you questioning your own unique identity by the final page.

I am a far cry from your traditional novelist. After earning a degree in biology from the University of Louisville in 2007, I spent a year and a half in medical school before deciding it wasn't the right fit for me as a career. A year later, I found myself in the classroom, and I haven't looked back. My day job is teaching science at Mercy Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, and I write whenever and wherever I can find the time. While the major focus of my writing is to provide a thrilling experience, my background in science always shows through as well. My wife and I live in Jeffersonville, Indiana with our daughter, son, and Boston terrier, Samson.

Pat this book was much better than I expected. 4.4 stars!

I stayed up until 1 AM to finish it and I only do that with books that I’m really into!!

Honestly I only started reading this book because I had read all of my other new ones and I had had this one since last year’s BOB but I figured I’d give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised! It was very suspenseful and definitely sucked you in. I certainly was not expecting many of the things that happened
but I wasn’t angry with them either. Mr. Burton I swear you mentioned a sequel last year in class and I hope you’re still going with it because it could be pretty good too. Very nice job Pat you surpassed my expectations!!

Recommended by a mutual friend of the author. I can honestly say it doesn’t read like a debut novel, but rather an established author penning for a living, not a hobby. It is so well written you will see/hear the story play out in your mind as you read. Some new authors struggle to find a balanced, consistent cadence to their storytelling but Pat has that figured out making for an enjoyable, intriguing, well-paced read. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in Nate’s life; I hope the wait isn’t long.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Redirected kept me engaged with the plot and the characters until the end. Nate’s continuous struggle with himself and the people he thinks he knows is ongoing and well written. This story exceeded my expectations and kept me questioning and laughing all the way through. I am anxiously awaiting a sequel (and more of Kenny Ortega’s wit). Mr. Burton, you’re a better storyteller than I had expected. Please post my unit two test grade.

Truly couldn't put this down after only a few chapters! There's a small number of typos that didn't hinder the story but they did catch the rhythm of the read, some parts were easy to figure out while some were complete surprises; overall, this was a great read. Certainly looking forward to the next installment!

Read this book for our book club with no prior information about the plot. I was intrigued at first, then hooked. Entertaining throughout, never a dull moment. Excited for the authors next book.
