I found myself checking out in this volume after Lufas finished her fight with Benet. It just wasn't clicking after that. I'm not sure I'll continue any further.

The absolute best so far!

So far, this was the best book in the series 🙂 Actually, I have trouble remembering a book that got me as excited as this one 😁

In order to prevent war between humans and demihumans, Lufas sends some of her allies to deal with the centaurs, while the rest of them head towards the home of the vampires. One vampire, in particular: Benetnasch, Lufas's old ally and one of the few beings who can stand up to Lufas's overwhelming might. And Benetnasch has spent the last 200 years spoiling for a fight to prove which of them is stronger . . .

It's interesting to get the story of Lufas's betrayal and imprisonment from the point of view of someone who was there, someone to whom this wasn't just a fun way to add some spice to a game. To Benet, the Seven Heroes meant something different, and now that she has a chance to redo her last fight without anyone interfering, she's utterly determined to see it through. To the gamer who still has a different perspective than Lufas, this challenge is something he isn't sure he can handle . . . but the eventual fight leaves some very important questions about what's really going on.

On the other hand, once Aries and his group separate from Lufas, they're almost immediately in over their heads. Leon, who has only shown up briefly so far, finally gets to steal the show, and THIS fight is a lot more tense, because Leon is far stronger than they are.

I'm also amused that Sei is starting to pick up on the fact that Lufas knows about things from Earth, and what that could possibly mean. His guesses may be closer to the truth than he knows (or Lufas can guess) depending on what future volumes decide to reveal.

Overall, if you liked the series so far, this is a good continuation. The fights are maybe a little long, but they're very easy to visualize, and there's enough lore and backstory being dropped to keep adding pieces to the overall picture. I rate this book Recommended.

Lufas and company set out to deal with one of the wayward twelve stars: Leon. The vampire princess Benetnasch steps in. The fight between her and Lufas had been interrupted 200 years earlier and she wants to finish it. So Lufas sets out to deal with the princess, the rest face Leon. What follows is an intriguing story with the silly over-the-top violence and entertaining characters. I just wish there was a bit less fighting, silly or not, not a fan of it. I also feel there is a bit too much explaining going on, not on the world but on how a specific power works and how it interacts with other powers. It made some parts of the book rather boring to me. Nothing new for the series, but it felt a bit more prominent this time. Maybe because the whole book covers two fights/conflicts and that is about it. Anyway, still a decently entertaining read, especially if you don't mind the fights and explanations.
