Patrice Fitzgerald is an indie author, publisher, attorney, and intergalactic singer of songs. She has been publishing herself and others since 2011 and is the force behind the BEYOND THE STARS series of space opera anthologies. Patrice is thrilled to introduce Captain Wu and her STARSHIP NAMELESS crew in her most recent trilogy, written with the inimitable Jack Lyster.
I love a good anthology. Gives me a chance to sample stories from authors who are new to me, and read new works from favorite authors. Patrice Fitzgerald draws the cream of the crop in every publication. Her own work is top shelf, so that should be no surprise. Anyway, this is a seriously good read and one you will not want to put down. It's tough to pick favorites because they were all outstanding, but special mention to: "Badass Smuggler Types" by Jack Lyster; "Unarmed and Dangerous" by Nadya Duke; "The Aurora Antidote" by David Burns; "Petty Android Bastard" by J.M. Thomas; and "Yesterday's Hero" by C.H. Hung. Highly recommended.
Love this anthology series. Please keep them comming. Series picks best of new ( even first time) writers and outstanding exiting writers. Very story is a great read and a gateway into new adventure
This collection showcases a wide variety of styles, and it's all high-quality writing. I liked some stories much better than others, but that's a common issue for me with anthologies. All of them fit the broad theme. Intriguing original ideas & concepts don't get in the way of full-on excellent storytelling. I will definitely be keeping an eager eye out for novels by several of the authors.
I would put it at 3.5 stars if that was an option, but who's counting?
