He’s the boy that makes me smile when I see him. And he’s the boy that makes me cry when he sees me.
I’ve wanted Kevin Torres to be the angel in my life I know he is. But instead, he acts like the devil that haunts me through the hallways. Even when I do something nice to him, he rejects it. Even when I ask how he’s doing, he bullies me.
I’m a nice girl. But I’m starting to break. Kevin can’t keep up this behavior forever. At some point, I’m going to snap.
And when that happens? The bully might become the bullied in a way he never would have expected.
Tough Guy is book two of the Providence Prep High School series. While this book is a continuation of book 1, it can be read as a standalone. So, what are you waiting for - enroll in the world of Providence Prep and read now!
This is the second book in the Providence Prep High School series and I was intrigued by Kevin from the first book he didn’t really seem to fit in with the Broad Street Boys and all is explained in his and Jackie’s book.
Kevin doesn’t have a happy home life after losing his mum ten years ago he and his father have struggled to have any kind of a relationship and the one that they have is one sided and Kevin has suffered from many years of emotional and physical abuse, his only thought is making it through his last year of school but things are coming to a head. He is sick pf being the poor one of the boys and being treated as a second class by Adam. There is one person who makes him want more and he is determined to keep her away and rejects her friendship at every turn but after she turns her back on him he realises how much he needed her light. Can he get Jackie to forgive him and show her how he really feels.
Jackie is a people pleaser and starts every day trying to make one person smile her lifelong crush Kevin there is something that just calls to her about him and she can’t help but want to make him happy but she is reaching the limit with the mean and bullying that he has been subjecting her too since eighth grade. Her parents have always taught her forgiveness but can she really keep offering up her heart for disappointment or will she finally break through the anger and tough guy exterior Kevin presents to the world or will he destroy her heart?
These two characters really go through a tumult of emotions and are in friends with people that they never really feel that they fit in with, both only accepted as scholarship students they come across as outsiders for most of the book but their chemistry and deep feelings kept me involved and caring what happened to them both. Great read from start to finish with this one would I definitely recommend it.
Like I said in my previous review of Bad Guy this is really a series I am enjoying!
Kevin and Jackie's story is quite different to Emily and Adam's because they don't have a history but they make up for that in a new found friendship.
Kevin did not bully Jackie as such just gave gloomy sarcastic comments to Jackie's sunshine greetings.
Our Broadstreet Boys are learning humility with their girls and it is so endearing!
Jackie is no pushover just an introverted optimist reared by hippy parents and Kevin is a gloomy introvert putting up a front who has always had his eye on Jackie, hides it by pushing people away. Reared by an abusive alcoholic distant father deep down all he wants is someone to see and appreciate him and that is what Jackie does up to a certain point........
Loved it and loved how Adam and Kevin finally bonded it brought tears to my eyes!
What even?! Jackie must be the most pathetic heroine in the history of pathetic heroines.
All the characters are way too childish. Seriously, every time they talked about their college plans, I got hit hard in the face with the reminder that they're in high school, and not in the freaking kindergarten.
This is the second book in the series and can be read as stand-alone. Kevin and Jackie are great characters with lots of depth. Their story is fast-paced with steamy chemistry and they are so much fun together. A good read.
Thank you Jacob for giving us the Broad Street Boys. Kevin Torres, the outsider and Jackie, the ray of sunshine, are opposites in so many ways but also well suited for each other. Here's what I love about this story:
1. It has a latino and a mixed race lead characters. 2. They are not rich like their friends. 3. Their families are as screwed up as anyone else's.
Mostly, I lived the story line and how vulnerable and insecure Kevin is portrayed. It makes him different from the other boys in his group. While you do root for them to have their HEA, you are really cheering for him to find his happiness.
I liked this one better than the first book. In a way Jackie and Kevin made more sense. The best part about this book was the fight scene between Kevin and Adam. That was a long time coming.
This is book two in the Providence Prep High School series. In this book we have Jackie and Kevin. This story begins with Kevin being the bully, he is just trying to fit in with the rest of the group of guys. He is attending this school on scholarship, he is not from a wealthy family. This is the same with Jackie. A similarity that one would think would give them something to bond over, not bully one about. As the story unfolds so does the layers of Kevin and Jackie and what is surprising is that Kevin and Jackie do begin to bond and get to know one another. These two have great chemistry as well which heats up the pages along the way as well. I will continue to follow this series and recommend reading it. Enjoy!

Tough Guy with a HEART! 4.5 Stars What a great read that kept pulling at my heartstrings. I was so excited about reading Kevin and Jackie's story and let me just say that it did not disappoint. When the tough guy opens up and puts it all out there for Jackie it sure as heck started breaking off pieces of my heart making me want more from one edgy page to the next. Amazing chemistry with great dialogue that at times was a bit corny but kept me engaged and at times on edge wanting to turn the pages. The chemistry was intense that when it exploded the pages got warm and passionate with no end in sight. I enjoyed this read and gladly recommend it and can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
If youve read Bad Guy the book before this one then youve already met Jackie and Kevin (the main characters in this book). Kevin is obnoxious in his treatment of Jackie. Jackie is bright, cheerful and friendly to everyone. Everything Kevin dislikes. He makes her know it constantly. Except his problems are not all about Jackie but shes the one to bare the brunt of it. Until she refuses to put up with it any longer. I really loved Jackie and how she saw the brightside in everything but the way Kevin treated her made me want to slap him one!!! Still i couldnt help but want to see them both work it out together. Once Kevin saw Jackie for who she was. Sad in parts, annoying in others but overall a fab book
This is book 2. Broad street boys are back and this is Kevin's story. Kevin is the poorest of the group but he is a member of it and he is trying to do everything to please Adam, so he would let him stay. Jackie is also not one of the milllionaires' kids -just like Kevin so from that point they are really similar with both of them knowing that the only way they are in this high school is because of scholarship.

I really wanted to love it and I kept waiting for it to get better. I did like the first book in the series and hoped that this one would pick up but I never felt connected to the characters nor did I feel that they connected with each other. The draw between the two characters was poorly played out. Jackie annoyed me as she sounded so juvenile for most of the book. Kevin Was not well developed either. His anger issues only directed at one person and tolerant to the people who treated him poorly? All in all, I just didn’t love it.
Even though this is the second book in the Providence Prep High School series, it can be read as a standalone. Each book is about a different couple and this one is about Jackie and Kevin. Kevin's home life leaves a lot to be desired and Jackie's is so totally opposite of his. Jackie is a people pleaser and she really likes Kevin, but he seems bound and determined to keep her at arms length. Can Jackie get through Kevin's tough guy exterior? Well read this wonderful story and find out.
This is the 2nd book in this series, and is Kevin and Jackie’s turn. Kevin comes from an abusive home life, and Jackie has hippies as parents, and she is always the nice girl who only sees the good in people, while he is the school bully in order to fit in with his friends. While these two had a love / hate relationship going on, the chemistry between them is explosive. This is a good story and I look forward to reading more from this author,
There are some triggers in this story as it does deal with the topic of bullying. This is a great plot that is well written with characters that are multi-layered so what you initially get may not be who the person really is. This story concentrates on Jackie and Kevin and their like/dislike/love/hate relationship. This is a wonderful bully/enemy to lover’s romance.

after i read the first book in this series i wanted to find out more. i didn't take to this book as much as i did the first, but think that was more about me as reader and not this book. the characters were forced to deal with their upbringing on different levels which caused problems in their adults school lives. a good read.
I’m starting to love this series so much ! I can’t wait for nick and Ryan’s stories ! I wish there was a little more information in the past 2 books tho but I feel like it’s gonna be a continuous story and it’ll all be wrapped up I’m hoping ! But yeah it’s awesome definitely worth the read !
I read the first book and was introduced to these characters that are in this book. I found that this story has everything that a YA romance should have but I did not get the whole love-hate thing with these two. It was a good book well written and I might continue with this series if there is more written.

Tough Guy is book two of the Providence Prep High School series and if you read book one then you have already met Kevin and Jackie. I had a feeling they would end up together even though they had a love/hate relationship but their chemistry is off the charts hot. This is a well written story with well developed characters and a great ending. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This is the second book in this series. You don’t necessarily have to read them in order but to get the whole concept of the story, you need to read Bad Guy first. The chemistry eventually gets the best of them. Another great read by Jacob Allen
I enjoyed Jackie & Kevin's story. This is the second book in the series but can be read alone. Good characters. This was a fun book. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a free copy of the book on booksprout.
I loved this book, I thought it was even better than the first, which I also loved. I highly recommend that you read both of these books. Now onto the 3rd & final book.
